Selling Bendtner would be foolish

With the January transfer looming, different rumours about Niklas Bendtner’s future are appearing every day. After yesterday’s claim of £8m interest from Lyon, today sees both Birmingham and AC Milan linked with £6m moves. Whilst all of those fees would be an awful lot of money for an as yet unproven talent, you do have to wonder just why we would choose to sell.
Bendtner has been superb at Birmingham, and upon his return will easily be above the likes of Lupoli, Aliadiere and Stokes in any potential pecking order. Unlike the previous three, he is already a full international and regular goalscorer in this country. I for one am very excited about what he might achieve in an Arsenal shirt, and would find his sale incredibly frustrating.
However, all this is dependent on him recieving first-team opportunities at some point down the line: he is a very ambitious boy, and he won’t come back here just to sit on the sidelines. Either way, I’m sure he’s going to be one hell of a player, and it’s nice to have some of Europe’s top clubs (and Birmingham) fighting it out for one of our lot.
