I wouldn’t post, but Sol’s gone

And now I have to work out how to use a French keyboard: never fun. If there are any typos, forgive me.
What we’ve all known for months has been confirmed: Sol Campbell is leaving Arsenal. Although Arsene suggested it was his own choice, one wonders if the press release was geared in such a way as to help Sol’s reputation remain intact, increasing his chances of a lucrative move abroad, as there is no question Arsene wanted Sol gone. Campbell himself said of the decision:
“I have spent five fantastic, trophy-filled seasons at the club, with many truly memorable moments … So it is with a sense of pride, achievement, and the desire for a fresh challenge that I depart.”
Campbell is fortunate he headed that iconic opening goal of the Champions League Final. Otherwise he might well have been remembered as the man who walked out on his team-mates at half-time. Indeed, he was lucky purely to start that match: only a Philippe Senderos injury made room for him in the team.
We won’t recieve a fee for Campbell. He’ll leave on a free, just as he arrived. He’s been a good servant to us for some while, but the time is right for him to go.
Goodbye Sol, and good luck.
ps. As you may have gathered, I am on holiday “en france”, so posts may be somewhat frequent/erratic. I’ll be in Toulouse for tonight’s final: come on Thierry!
