Gunners in Germany: Part 2

Another couple of days, another six matches, and yet more involvement from Arsenal players. In the big battle between Thierry Henry and Philippe Senderos, it was Big Phil who won out, keeping Titi quiet as his Swiss side secured a valuable 0-0 draw. Johan Djourou even came on for around 15 minutes to help Phil see through the clean sheet.
Earlier in the day, Emmanuel Adebayor‘s ten-men Togo had lost 2-1 to South Korea. Ade didn’t look in the best of form: easily his countries most talented player, he is chronically misused. A combination of a lack of creative talent in the team and an overestimation of Adebayor’s own ability meant he ended up playing off the striker in a playmaker role. The results were dreadful. My advice to Togo: play Manu as a central battering ram, or you’ll go home with no points.
Gilberto sat on the bench in a drab 1-0 win for Brazil, whilst Jens Lehamnn was involved in a rather more exciting 1-0, as Germany grabbed a last minute goal against neighbours Poland.
Congratulations too for Cesc Fabregas, who became Spain’s youngest ever World Cup player during their 4-0 demolition of Ukraine. They have been the best performers of the World Cup so far, with Fernando Torres in particular showing some sparkling form.
England today. Wonder if Theo Walcott will explode onto the scene against T & T…
