Disappointing Draw; United Loom On Horizon…

I’ve been away, so unable to discuss the draw at Aston Villa. I don’t really have much to say about the 0-0: it wasn’t very interesting. Mathieu Flamini and Milan Baros both missed clear one-on-ones at each end, and the fact that we were clinging on and relatively pleased to come away with a point shows just how far we’ve fallen.
Robin van Persie also picked up an injury that will keep him out of tonight’s match with United: a real blow. Dennis Bergkamp is likely to stand in for his younger compatriot.
It will be strange having one of these matches without either of the above pair. Freddie Ljungberg, whose also out due to illness, has suggested that, “Maybe it will be a little calmer.”
It’s a nice idea, Fred, but I can’t see it. Whilst the title may be beyond both teams, there’s still a huge amount of pride at stake. Critically, a win for Arsenal, coinciding with an influx of talent during the transfer window, could kick-start our entire season.
Let’s hope everyone rises to tonight’s occasion.
