Great. Gary Lewin is obviously taking his Christmas holiday early this year. At least we can take some consolation from the news that Robin van Persie will return to full training next week.
Gilberto has reiterated his desire to stay at the club, though if he’s serious about ousting the in-form Mathieu Flamini, he needs to perform better than he did at Newcastle on Wednesday.
Finally, are we really set to sign DR Congo international striker Tresor Mputu? His agent seems pretty confident, but then who wouldn’t want their bright young client linked with the team that’s currently top of the Barclays Premier League? This one still seems a little far-fetched.
More tomorrow.Â
