Man U build-up descends into indiscernible gibberish….

Apparently, Thierry Henry is fit and confident.
Roy Carrol, however, doesn’t fear him.
Patrick Vieira may well return, which could explain why Freddie is feeling so relaxed.
Peter Hill-Wood called the “Battle of Old Trafford” an “embarrassment“, which may have been a good adjective for Arsene Wenger to use when describing granny-shagging monster Wayne Rooney.
Gabriel Heinze is a tosser.

Expect more of this for most of the week-end.

Topsy-Turvy Arsenal Take Point Home

Arsenal picked up a point in a topsy turvy 2-2 draw in Greece last night.

A great turn and pass from Jose Reyes allowed Freddie to steal in and flick the ball over the keeper for an early lead.

It was into the second half when they sent a long ball over the top, Jens Lehmann came charging out and headed away, only for their man to produce a quite stunning finish by lobbing mad Jens from all of 30 yards.

In hindsight, it was a mistake. But if the ball doesn’t go sailing over his head into the net, as would happen 99 times out of 100, then people would say he was performing well as the “sweeper keeper“. He can’t really be blamed.

Anyway, it seemed not to matter too much, as we went charging up the other end, with a classic counter-attack ending with Thierry coaxing the ball beyond the keeper.

However, the second goal that we conceded was in many ways more disappointing than the first. A corner was swung in, and with little-to-no marking they were able to knock a free header beyond the on-rushing Lehmann.

So, 2-2. A point away from home. Not so bad. Certainly not the disaster some would have you believe.

Still, I don’t understand why Pires played up-front with Jose on the left. It seems to me that Arsene prefers Reyes as a left-winger, and yet seems unwilling to go back on his word, so insists he is primarily a forward.

Also, Edu looked way off-the-plot last night. His long time spent away from the first team is certainly showing. I stand by my earlier piece whereby I suggested he may well leave in January.

So roll on Sunday. Roll on Man United.

Roll on the great reprise of “The Battle of Old Trafford“.

Roll on 50 games unbeaten.

Roll on Arsenal.

King of Cool Henry to skipper side tonight…

Gunner-Blog “Man of the Moment” Thierry Henry tonight officially displaces Sol Campbell as our third-choice captain. With Patrick Vieira and Dennis Bergkamp both missing, a calming influence will be needed to steer the team to victory. Henry’s cool temperament make him an ideal choice for the coveted role.

But it was not always so, as this article perfectly demonstrates. Hopefully there’ll be no repeat of said antics tonight.

Some good news in the build-up to tonight’s game is that Arsene Wenger is edging closer and closer towards a new contract. It’s easy to see why he wants to stick around when you look at the young talent coming through, such as last night’s reserve team goalscorers, Anthony Stokes and Arturo Lupoli. Next weeks Carling Cup tie with Man City could be a real showcase for these young guns.

Panathinaikos tonight. Come on the boys.

Another Suc-Cesc-full Weekend…

…another dreadful headline.

Still, the little man has been earning rave reviews in this mornings papers. Arsene has, however, laughed off any comparisons with Wayne Rooney, and correctly so – Cesc has only just broken into the first team. Rooney, however, has starred on the international stage at 2004. Our boy will emulate that one day, though. Have no fear.

I have to put this link up, just because it’s bloody hilarious. Ah, Miles.

On yesterday’s blog, somebody suggested I work some magic to facilitate the process of posting a comment on the site. However, I’m no magician. After several failed attempts it now seems unlikely that I shall manage that within the near future. Still, I’ll be working on it.

In the meantime, Happy Monday(s).

Villans chased off by Awesome Arsenal

The “Arsenal Exhibitionists” moved 5 points clear of Chelsea with a devastating 3-1 victory over Aston Villa.

Stand-in keeper Stefan Postma was by far Villa’s best player, and had it not been for his heroics it could easily have been 6 or 7. Postma’s own assessment of the game was fairly accurate, describing his own side as “miles off” Arsenal.

We were awesome. It would be difficult to pick out a man-of-the-match, but Henry was typically superb. However Cesc, Bergkamp, Pires, Reyes, et all were all excellent. The only negative point was the fact that Patrick Vieira sustained an injury which should keep him out of Wednesday’s tie against Panathanaikos, and makes him a doubt for Sunday’s big one against Manchester United.

Speaking of which, Alex Ferguson has been mouthing off about nothing in particular again. There’s a word for this. It’s called “beingaredfacedscottishwanker“.

Oh, and Arsene is also fearing Edu’s departure. I think it’s probably quite likely, though. Which is a shame, because we were incredibly loyal to him through lots of problems.

Oh well.

Have a good Sunday, if such a thing is possible.
