Who’s Who For Sparta Prague
0 guns August 15th, 2007
It’s a two-legged affair, which takes a little of the shine off tonight’s game, but it is obviously absolutely essential that Arsenal win this tie with Sparta Prague to qualify for the Champions League. After the embarrassment of last year’s exit against PSV, Arsene will be desperate to prove that his young charges truly are in the top eight squads in Europe. Defeat tonight would show that they’re certainly not.
The Czech Champions are shorn of stars but are still a functional unit. They’ll look to contain Arsenal and nick a goal on the break - they will know their best chance lies in victory tonight. A few to look out for:
Tomáš Řepka, Defender
Arguably Sparta’s only familiar face, having represented Fiorentina and West Ham as well as his country with varying degrees of distinction. Whilst he played primarily at right-back for the Hammers, he is winding his career down at centre-back. He’s almost guaranteed to have a fiery spat with Van Persie at some stage.
Pavel Horváth, Playmaker
Capped 31 times by his country, Horváth is the man who makes Sparta tick - the closest thing they currently have to their former star, Tomas Rosicky. Horváth left Sparta as a teenager without playing before returning years later as the team’s star. The former Galatasary and Sporting Lisbon’s cult status only grew with this strike from close to the halfway line.
Marek Kulič, Striker
Signed in January from Mladá Boleslav, his goals helped fire Sparta to the title. With 8 caps for the Czech Republic, most recently in their defeat of Wales that marked the end of Ryan Giggs’ International career, this formerly “lost talent” is the man most likely to put the ball past Jens Lehmann this evening.
For us, the same sixteen who faced Fulham have been joined by Justin Hoyte and Armand Traore in the squad, which means that Eduardo, Adebayor, Denilson and Diaby are all still out. It must be particularly frustrating for Diaby to be injured whilst Gilberto is still recovering from the Copa America.
In other news, it seems the press put 2+2 together and made 7 as far as Morten Gamst Pedersen is concerned - we’re not interested.
But if we do want to sign more players, the money and prestige of a Champions League place is absolutely essential. Quick question: is anyone who has played in the Champions League qualifiers now cup-tied in Europe for the whole season?
An away goal tonight is essential. A 1-0 win would be a very good result.

Well, this will be the worst game ever for me. Two teams that I love but only one can join Champions League. Why we can’t meet us later in the group? The only good news are that I will see Gunners live twice during 14 days and make my first Emirates game.

i don’t care if the ball bounces off the ref into goal, as long as we take home a nice lead.
32. ron | August 15th, 2007 at 10:36 am
If I was the manager tonight, id think, right, were better than them & away goals count as 1.5, so id attack attack attack!!
If we dont score tonight, there is every chance that they will score the obligatory goal at the emirates & well need at least 2 goals!!!!
Lets have some balls & go for their throats!! Aaarrggghhh
33. Nancy Boy | August 15th, 2007 at 10:36 am
I always find it amusing when players have their initial in front of their name just ’cause there are two of them in the same team.
What the fuck for?
Is anybody going to mistake Cuntly for Joe Cole on the pitch at the Chavs?
Even if you have identical twins on the pitch - they have fucking great different numbers on their back.
Bloody pointless.

Hello all, different issue here. Does anyone know if those banners, like: WHL 1971, WHL 2004, Kings Of London, made it to the side of the pitch by the advertising hoardings for the Fulham game?
I didnt go, but RedAction were lobbying hard for them to be there. They’d make the Grove look much better if they were

42. Ruralgoon | August 15th, 2007 at 10:45 am
I’m hoping we can put this tie largely to bed tonight; that way it eases the pressure on the team for the return leg and will allow them to relax and enjoy the game more on home soil. I’d love to see Rosicky get on the score sheet; once he breaks his duck I’ve a feeling he’ll score a shedload!
Spurs defence utterly atrocious…. poor old Bloggie!

Arsène Wenger has denied he is bidding for Blackburn winger Morten Gamst Pedersen.
Media reports on Tuesday linked the Norwegian with a move to Emirates Stadium but this was flatly denied by the Arsenal manager when the suggestion was put to him ahead of this evening’s game at Sparta Prague.
“No [I have not bid for him],” he said.

“Bent”
1. To be dishonest or corrupt, often used in reference to a police officer.
2. To be at a stage of severe intoxication due to the use of narcotics and/or alcohol.
3. To be homosexual or effeminate in appearance or nature.
1. “PC. Sam Tucker was a bent cop.”
2. “Oh man, that weed was so strong, I was totally bent last night.”
3. “Martin Jol is bent!”

If we have actually bid for Mondric, them am sure he wont play their uefa cup, much like what we did with Reyes last year…
60. Dick (aka Willy) | August 15th, 2007 at 10:58 am
GILBERTO SILVER: “Quick question: is anyone who has played in the Champions League qualifiers now cup-tied in Europe for the whole season?”
The answer to that is yes. You may remember last season we rather ominously left Ashely Cole out of the squad for our Champions League qualifier, namely because Chelsea didn’t want him cup-tied. Wenger, as always, said it was “due to injury” but it clearly wasn’t.
I remember reading somewhere that the rule is in place to prevent bigger clubs loaning smaller clubs their players in order to help teams qualify, and then recall them. Never likely that would ever happen, but nevertheless the rule is in place to mitigate against such a rare occurence.
61. TeamSpirit | August 15th, 2007 at 10:59 am
57. Oh LOL… I am there with them all the time eh… In Spirit?
62. Dick (aka Willy) | August 15th, 2007 at 11:02 am
If we’re ever going to move for Quaresma (unlikely, but hey, dare to dream and all that) then we need to do it now.
Liverpool, Spurs and Chelsea were all chasing him. Now that Chelsea have landed Alves (who can also play - and in my opinion is most effective - as a right-winger) I doubt they’ll still be in the hunt. Same with Liverpool who’ve got Babel and Benayoun. But what’s the betting that after the drubbing Spurs received last night, and their blatant lack of creativity without Lennon in the team, that they start throwing more silly money at the problem and land a starlet like Quaresma.
Then I would be worried.
63. TopCat | August 15th, 2007 at 11:03 am
Hi Dick,
Sorry I didn’t come back to you yesterday, there was so much to respond too! However, some of the things you attributed to me, I have never actually said, or my comments, were taken completely out of context.
You made some very good points however and I agree with most, if not all of what you say.
I still however, will revert my judgement until Malouda has played at least 10 games.
64. Frudicus | August 15th, 2007 at 11:05 am
I think that now we have a propper compettive game under our belts, we will be great tonight. Im pretty sure we can get a 2-0 or maybe even more tonight. With Hleb scoring early he’ll be going for it, and seeing as Hleb, Rosicky and Fabulous have got a bet going im pretty sure we’ll see a goal from Rosicky tonight!

68. Dopey Kent | August 15th, 2007 at 11:10 am
I hope Wenger doesn’t go with a nil-nil mentality with his 4-5-1 and then only bring on Bendtner if we go one down.
An away goal is absolutely crucial these days in Europe - that’s how we messed up against PSV
69. Mark | August 15th, 2007 at 11:10 am
scoring tonight is important.
Being 0 - 0 tonight will add a bit of extra pressue to the home game.
If we are a goal up with 5 to play and they score, they will go through.
We need an away goal tonight so they come out and play.

Interesting reading at the Vital Spurs forum today
For example -
“i am always full of optimism about every game we play and cant remember posting a negative comment about how i think we will do in any game.
But last night i felt like slitting my fucking wrists.”
Spendid!

im not trying to be pesamistic but i have a feeling everton are just the type of team that we are gonna drop point’s against this year compact, long balls, aggressive good at set piece’s,everton have more quality than fulham and defend a lot better
if we dont introduce a good consistent CB and a winger
my biggest concern this year is the defence they dont look any more secure than last year as for people making excuse’s for toure and gallas forming a partnership ,well they have had enought time to work at it aint they ,we have to buy a top CB because when toure leave’s for the AN we are gonna be left with senderos ,oh no
ps why cant senderos close his mouth ,the gormless get

Anyone think that we need the guarantee of Champions League football before the board will commit to signing additional players? It would explain why Wenger’s dragging his feet. The timing of everything is mighty suspicious.
Unrelated point, but what name do you think Kaka’s wife screams out when they do the horizontal samba? Does she call him “Kaka” or some other variant on “Riccardo”? I’m just incredulous that she’d use the same name that his adoring fans use - she wouldn’t want the bloke to think he’s still playing football, after all.

hey back off of on sendy. CB’s are late bloomers. He deserves a little more support before we turn on him. He IS one of our players and deserves a decent opportunity. There is a serious question underlying this. I’d like to know whether Brazilian football nicknames (e.g. Ronaldinho, Kaka, Dudu) are “stage names” that are dispensed with once they’re off the pitch, or whether they use those names in real life as well.

I have learned never to come here the night of a defeat, at one stage there were 45 users online. But the most important thing I’ve learned is how fickle some fans really are ranging from the classic “I never like anyone being negative about Spurs but……” to the ones who must really love being negative about Spurs because that’s all they ever are.
It begs the question, ” Do we have the most fickle fans?”
And I thought Arsenal fans were fickle!

senderos has had load’s of chance’s every time he pull’s the shirt on you get nervous when he come’s into contact with the ball ,he’s had his chance’s and should’nt be gambled on again this year like he has been in the last couple of year’s
senderos has had load’s of oppurtunity’s that’s why we let sol campbell go and why he was subsequetly dropped for djorou
CB are late bloomer’s yeah they are all the more reason you should’nt blood player’s in a position where one mistake can cost you a game
the only time senderos has looked good is defending his 18 yard line ,man utd FA cup ,chapions league run ,when arsenal play a counter atttacking game and he does’nt get drawed off his eighteen yard line

Im hooked - its like listening in on a conversation you are not supposed to hear…
Since when was Marcus posting on a Spurs site ! Its uncannily similar the rants on here!
I have been accused for nearly 9 months now of being too harsh on Martin Jol, by accusing him of being totally tactically inept and having taken Spurs as far as he can take them
( season before last!).
Anybody now think I may have a reasonable point??
Here are a few pointers to why I have been on his back for so long!:
- The one player we needed more than any other was a Left sided attacking Mid Fielder, who could cross a ball and take a free-kick
He decides to make a tactical change with only 5 mins to go- master stroke!!
- Oh and guess what happens, we let a goal in, in the last 5 mins of tha game- Seen that before, Yes last season- How many times???. Can this be rectified tactically- Yes, By Jol- NO!!!
- We let in most of our goals, last season from Corner kicks, Long shots and set pieces- Tactical changes are obviously needed in training. Did he change this- NO!!
I swear you could change a few words and thats pretty similar to the rants directed at AW !!
And the last bit, what the fuck?! they are miserable bastards most of the time….
I love Spurs with a passion and I have never been so excited about our potential and the abilty of most of our squad. I am also really proud of our fans, who in my opinion are the best support home and away in England.

O dear looking at all those spurs posts has got me thinkin we are in a parallel universe with them, and loathe anti-ourselves.
We might have to hollow out a very large pumpkin for AW to wear on his head to complete the doppleganger effect with Jol.
Remember when matter and antimatter meet there will be one almighty energy release. After that “there will be only one” (you have to read that bit in your best sean connery highlander accent)

OK then well it looks like everyone has completely lost interest in tearing Hleb apart (what a difference a goal makes) so now we have moved onto to senderos. I am OK with that by FFS cant we do lehmann first? I mean to say how can we slag off any of our outfield players while we still have a goal keeper who is on day release. Why wasnt our new goalkeeper started from the off. Lehmann has no future and does nothing but unsettle our juniours and teach them bad habits. 212. Fletch | August 15th, 2007 at 1:33 pm
How can we have so many injuries when we have only played 1 competitive game?
Bloody ridiculous.
What happens when (hopefully) have to play 3 vital games in a weak FFS?
213. Fletch | August 15th, 2007 at 1:34 pm
week
214. munitionsman | August 15th, 2007 at 1:36 pm
209 TC I hear you but do his great saves offset all the -ves? For me no. Maybe if we had an older team, but we have enough concentration problems as it is. Our team is so young they get distracted by thoughts of finger painting. Lehmann is liability
215. Fletch | August 15th, 2007 at 1:37 pm
Just realised that we are playing 3 games in a week - this week!
216. TopCat | August 15th, 2007 at 1:39 pm
214.
I agree mate - it is vitally important that the back 4 has complete faith in the GK - look at the champions league run - even with the makeshift dedence we had, there was an air of confidence about them - lehman gave his defenders confidence….
…and now he is doing his best to destroy that confidence.
Anymore of that shit and big Willy G will bitch slap him.
217. munitionsman | August 15th, 2007 at 1:47 pm
216
O no Not a turkey slap from a big willy…. smack, that would hurt
215 I guess we will find out then. But we are only playing (relatively) weak teams. Not the BIG boys
218. munitionsman | August 15th, 2007 at 1:51 pm
ppl keep coming and asking me dumb work related questions. Cant they see I am blogging here??
219. Blog Head | August 15th, 2007 at 1:51 pm
Fletch,
I’ve just realised I’ve got three balls
220. Fletch | August 15th, 2007 at 1:55 pm
Enjoy the match last night Blog Head?
221. Fletch | August 15th, 2007 at 1:57 pm
BH, You’ve certainly got balls to come on here today mate.
222. TopCat | August 15th, 2007 at 1:57 pm
Here’s a question for you…would you rather see Arsenal win the league or Spurs get relegated?
223. TopCat | August 15th, 2007 at 1:58 pm

225. ron | August 15th, 2007 at 2:00 pm

Fletch,
No I didnt enjoy the game last night. I hated it the way I hate it when I haven’t wiped my bum properly and am in a public place.
Thank you for the compliment on my balls. Yes I do have balls of steel. Sometimes, if he’s been a good boy, I let davey-b lick them
228. TopCat | August 15th, 2007 at 2:02 pm

they must get cold in Winter….
229. Ruralgoon | August 15th, 2007 at 2:03 pm
TC; I’m here!!! I was just playing catch-up on the post reading…
Mad Jens is not helping the security of our defence…. and hasn’t ever filled me with confidence. Considering the amount of money he’s on to be a professional footballer, howcome he cannot kick a ball for love nor money?!
230. Fletch | August 15th, 2007 at 2:04 pm
Jens run up to take a goal kick is too straight - that’s why it always goes to the left.
231. Columbo M | August 15th, 2007 at 2:05 pm
Word up my Gunnerblog homies.
Why the fuck is the game on Setanta tonight? Do they now have the rights along with Sky for the Champions Legue? Don’t ITV have ANY coverage anymore?
Sorry if this has already been covered, but I’m being worked like a 2 dollar whore at the moment (it feels good to be wanted) and can’t be arsed to read the entire thread!
232. ron | August 15th, 2007 at 2:05 pm
theres rural, quick everyone, hold your stomachs in…
233. Columbo M | August 15th, 2007 at 2:07 pm
What happened to your six-pack ron?
234. Fletch | August 15th, 2007 at 2:08 pm
Rosisky’s eyes are too close together
235. TopCat | August 15th, 2007 at 2:08 pm
Rural, the amount of money he is paid has little to do with it.
I mean, say you were paid 10 times what you are on now to do the same job, would you really concentrate that much harder on it?
Footballers are like the rest of us, they just get paid silly money to do what they do.
236. Fletch | August 15th, 2007 at 2:10 pm
Gallas’s are too far apart
237. Blog Head | August 15th, 2007 at 2:13 pm
Theres Frudicus, quick everyone, hide the crack….
238. Ruralgoon | August 15th, 2007 at 2:13 pm
Fair point TC; but conversely, I’m paid utter cack wages, yet each year my duties and responsibilities increase with no increase at all in my wage packet. I therefore see it as my right to waste time on here. If my wages matched my job, I’d take it far more seriously. If something major rode on the back of me doing my job well and I was weak at one particular point, I’d put a bit of effort into improving that thing, even if it was only to make my own life easier.
239. Columbo M | August 15th, 2007 at 2:15 pm
I know what you mean TC. When people use the arguement “Oh, he’s on £100k a week, so he should obviously be able to score goals from the half way line, take a two-footed lunge to the head and receive abuse about his family for 90 mins!” As if being paid stupid money means they are no longer human beings (admittedly, some aren’t - Cuntly?).
However, I would absolutely 100% concentrate more on my job if I was being paid 10 times as much… I think we all would. No one would have time to be on here and Gunnerblog would just be full of kids on their summer holida.. oh!
240. ron | August 15th, 2007 at 2:16 pm
mavis, its in perfect shape, leave your phone number & i’ll send u a pic… i have the body of a sex god… hang on, i am a sex god!!!
241. ron | August 15th, 2007 at 2:18 pm
does that do anything for u rural??
242. TopCat | August 15th, 2007 at 2:20 pm
Rural / Mavis - Well maybe if I was on 10 times what I am now - my point was that each year I get a pay rise and each year I say that I will concentrate harder as a result - but 6 months laters Im back to how I was before….
Im just seconding what Mavis says - just cos they are in an industry that chooses to pay them massive wages, doesn’t mean you can expect that musch more from them - well you can to a point, but they are still human.
243. TopCat | August 15th, 2007 at 2:22 pm
ron - whats your secret?
Exercise? Healthy eating?
244. Columbo M | August 15th, 2007 at 2:24 pm
Ron’s a super hero. Don’t tell anyone..
Ron - 07969 696969.. I want the full frontal.
245. Nurld | August 15th, 2007 at 2:24 pm
I’ve just walked past some spuds standing on their heads.
246. Ruralgoon | August 15th, 2007 at 2:26 pm
Ron; the sex god thing probably would’ve done, if it had been someone else that had said it about you… pronouncing yourself one is a no-no
TC; In Jens’ case, though, surely its not too much to ask that say 95% of goal kicks remain in play, and a reasonable proportion of these to actually land in the vicinity of an arsenal player?
Even I, a mere woman, am capable of directing a football in approximately the trajectory that I was attempting!
247. Fletch | August 15th, 2007 at 2:27 pm
What is the minimum you would put up with tonight?
1-1 draw and no injuries?
248. A Random Girly | August 15th, 2007 at 2:28 pm
Ron, thanks for last night, it was great.
I can say here & now in no uncertain terms that you are a sex god
249. TopCat | August 15th, 2007 at 2:29 pm
246.
And I bet you look a damn sight better in a Arsenal jersey than mad jens does!
Jens kicking is poor, but his shot stopping is quality.
250. ron | August 15th, 2007 at 2:29 pm
hi rural…
leave your number & i’ll send u a pic, u can make ur own mind up…
251. Ruralgoon | August 15th, 2007 at 2:30 pm
Fletch; I I want us to have a goal advantage over them at the very least. No injuries to key players goes without saying!
252. TopCat | August 15th, 2007 at 2:31 pm
My prediction for tonight.
Arsenal to win 1-0 bendtner to score.
253. Columbo M | August 15th, 2007 at 2:32 pm
We definitely need to score. An away goal is crucial when you consider that we’re bound gift them one at the Grove.
254. Fletch | August 15th, 2007 at 2:32 pm
So long as we score - that’s probably all we need to do.
255. ron | August 15th, 2007 at 2:34 pm
so, just to confirm, noone wants to see my cock then??
256. TeamSpirit | August 15th, 2007 at 2:34 pm
MINIMUM IS 2-0 AND NO INJURIES…
257. Sean Bean (Boromir) | August 15th, 2007 at 2:35 pm
I hate Neil Warnock! I was Boromir in the Lord Of the Rings! I was shot with a hundred arrows, and it still didn’t hurt as much as seeing my beloved sheffield relegated! WANKER!
Mmmmmmmmm Scampi.
258. munitionsman | August 15th, 2007 at 2:35 pm
Maybe mad jens did win the euro GK comp last year but that was only cos they were still sweepin cheks brains into his skull cap. Perhaps Jens had a similar accident in the past and they missed some really important bits. Like the cognitive region at the front. Lucky they got the motor regions I guess.

Mavis
I use - http://livefooty.doctor-serv.com/
it shows most games, and gives a choice of 3 or 4 different streams, in ENG and foreign commentary.
You may need to download the program the stream is running on, but its a pretty good site overall.
280. Columbo M | August 15th, 2007 at 2:46 pm
Cheers Rural… So Setanta only have rights for the qualifying rounds? Weird!
Okay TC, but I’m a bit aprehensive about those sites… Don’t they make you download dodgy applications from other web sites? I don’t wanna get a virus on my missus’ PC! Although I should have thought about that before downloading ‘Hot girls in love’.
281. rob | August 15th, 2007 at 2:47 pm

We have got to win tonight for many reasons…
1/ To fucking well qualify to have a chance of winning the CL
2/ To build confidence and continue winning
3/ To get the extra CL revenue so we can sit on it and not spend it
4/ It gives me an excuse to get pissed up mid-week watching the away leg on the box each round
5/ Keeps the Spurs fans jealous and pissed off
6/ (put your own reason in here)

Anybody subscribed to Sultana Sports?- bloody rip off - they advertise no minimum contract and £9.99. Great I’ll just get it for a month, then cancel and get it again when there are two or more Arsenal games on.
No - got to pay a £9.99 registration fee each time.
Bollocks
346. munitionsman | August 15th, 2007 at 3:35 pm
geez u guys dont know how good you got. I am stuck on a rig in the persian gulf with 1 byte per week bandwidth and if we do get a game it comes with a yaberin arab commentator.
347. ATVO | August 15th, 2007 at 3:36 pm
I am indeed showing the game tonight… all of it.
You lucky lucky things……
348. Columbo M | August 15th, 2007 at 3:36 pm
TV companies are total fucking whores. They rinse the all the money they can get from advertising during matches and then want us viewers to cough up a shit load as well. Wankers the lot of them. Unfortunately, we eat it up like the eager little punters that we are.
349. Columbo M | August 15th, 2007 at 3:37 pm
346 - but it’s free ain’t it? I think i’d rather have a yabbering arab (commentating on the match, that is) than that Andy cocksucker Gray.
350. Ruralgoon | August 15th, 2007 at 3:38 pm
Fletch; the resident liverpool fan is also a horse racing nut, and one of the channels you get as part of the package is racing uk… he stopped sky movies and got setanta instead!

354. Columbo M | August 15th, 2007 at 3:42 pm
Thanks Fletch. I like your style too. Your eloquence is admirably displayed in porridge, where your use of the English language to manipulate the other inmates is very impressive.
355. munitionsman | August 15th, 2007 at 3:43 pm
349 better than free!! They pay me loads to watch it! I thought Andy Gray was a yabberin arab?
Back home I have to pay for the satelite service and then as if thats not enough, they put adds on that as well?? Double dippin. At least no adds through the play. Only half time… not that bad is it? I’ll shut up now
356. Fletch | August 15th, 2007 at 3:43 pm

After reporting that neither Wilson Palacios ‘s parents or his club, Olimpia, could confirm his whereabouts, the Honduran Newspaper “Tiempo”, has now been informed by Palacios’s father that he is alright and living in London Colney!
His father, Eulogio, was relieved to hear from him at last. His son who sounded well and lighthearted confirmed to him that he has been having a trial at Arsenal and that he has been able to satisfy the medical and fitness requirements. He will learn in the next few days whether he is kept on.
Wilson for the last 30 days has been traveling around Europe trying his luck with various clubs leaving a big gap in his home side’s line up as he is considered their top player.
His travels took him first to Serbian club Red Star Belgrade where he impressed but the deal was not concluded as their offer for the player was dismissed by Olimpia’s President, Osman Madrid, as way below his valuation of the player.
There were also rumours that Italian club Cagliary was interested but again Olimpia’s president denied there was anything in it.
Palacios next traveled to France and had a trial with Monaco but they seemed unable to take him on as the quota for foreign players has already been exhausted.
Wenger has been impressed
According to his father, Wilson has made a very good impression on Wenger who was quite happy with him. Apparently Palacios has understood that he is earmarked to replace Ljumberg as they are similar players.
The financial side of the deal has not yet been discussed but the whole thing may be finalized in the next few days.
His father said:
“this is not important for us, what I want is that my son continues playing in England. The probabilities of remaining are great.”
The Honduran Newspaper has even given the Arsenal shirt numbers that Palacios could choose from!
These are indeed numbers which have not yet been allocated:
8, 12, 14, 18 and 23.
Palacios labeled the “magician” is considered one of the national team’s best players.
He is 23 years old and a right midfield player who can also play in defence.
He is most remembered for scoring a goal from the half-way line against Marathón in the final minutes of a game in 2006. You can watch it on the video window.

so ron you raider want as to miss on the next honduras talent to come out just because the other clubs were ‘nt interesting red bull wanted to buy him but the player club owner said no caz he felt he cost more just like blackburn ask more money for pedersen, monaco had enough of foreign players so that’s the reason, so next stop england and arsenal step up for it so lets wait caz if arsene wenger thinks he is good enough to play for arsenal so be it everybody has to except it it’s arsene decision

He and Micky Quinn a right pair of cocks. They just babble total nonsense. I turned on talk sport yesterday and they were on about the same old shit - “Is (insert footballer here) world-class?” “yes he is.” “no, he isn’t”. “Oh, but how do you define world class?” WHO FUCKING CARES!?! Couple narcissists who love the sound of their own voices. Look what you’ve done now Nancy. I’m worked up too.. I’m gonna have to go and listen to some Enya or something to calm down. Face it this comedian and this cunt board are going to go into the new season with this paper-thin squad exactly as it is. If we achieve anything be in spite of Wenger. Not cos of him. He’s defs not helping a delicate situation. It’s as if he deliberately wants to ignore signing players just to do the opposite of what the fans, who pay his fucking salary, want to do. ”I cannot justify every small decision, and explain it to everybody. Things have to stay inside. He was not in the (training) group last week, and that is why what happened happened. I respect Gilberto a lot. I had a face-to-face meeting with him and told him what I wanted to tell him. I have nothing more to say about that.
If the implication is that the Arsenal captaincy is a small decision then that is rather odd, I have to say, and I still think he could have taken 5 minutes to tell Gilberto before it was announced anywhere else”
What a tit Wenger is being. Just as with the transfers, he is 100% in the wrong. He shoulda taken the time to ring Gilbs. The captaincy is a ’small issue’? Says all you nned to know and that AW doesn’t take captaincies seriously. What a comedian. Same goes for transfers. Everyone is saying we’ll go nowhere unless at least 2 super-class players are brought in. Wenger insists we don’t need even one extra. What a bloody joke….I can’t even type how shit we are gonna be this season….

Spart are using robust tactics against the AFC players. Seems as if Sam Allardyce has phoned every manager on the continent and told them what to do against our team.
437. guzeppe | August 15th, 2007 at 8:16 pm
Infact Sparta already have two players booked. I think by the end of the match they might get a red card.

441. Pipo | August 16th, 2007 at 12:12 am
You’ve got to say…I watched the Chavs playin earlier against Reading. They were getting mullered at half-time…1-0 down. Sidwell was pushing up in midfield too much so what happens? None of this Wenger shit of waiting till the 85th minute to make subs. Straight away half-time Mourinho takes off Sidwell and sticks on Obi Mikel and brings Kalou on for pace. Result? Within 5 mins the chavs have turned the game round, score 2 goals and are 2-1 up. Glad we won tonight but Wenger, take note. We were anything BUT impressive against Sparta tonight. Sparta shoulda had at least a drae from that. So there’s 2 second-rate sides who we’ve flattered to deceive against now. 4th would be one helluva achievement if AW decides to sign no one….

Whoever it is that Well Endowed replied to…you are an idiot of the highest order. Lets say that you are a player who wants to play in the CL. You get an offer from a club that is facing tough opposition in the CL qualifying rounds. What do you do:
1) Sign imidiatly, and then look like a tit when that club doesn’t make to CL proper?
or
2) wait until they are through to sign?
Nevermind, you answer will prob be “Wenger is a twat”, right?

Well, toldUso:
1. I’m defending myself against unfair slurs by Sam Palmisiano. I think I’m holding my own, although that might change when he wakes up and starts reading what I’ve written.
2. I’m the only guy here, so I’ll probably talk to myself for a few hours to kill time. You’re welcome to talk to yourself as well.
3. There’s another blogging terrorist on the prowl - 444, 443.
4. Hleb’s making a habit of 90th minute goals, which is nice. To think, he’s our season’s top goalscorer.
449. y-front man | August 16th, 2007 at 1:34 am
its been a strange opening few days of the season. how about that draw again for utd. Tremendous! and they have city to play at the weekend. i’m just enjoying this little bit of time we are above them while it lasts!
450. Well-endowed gooner | August 16th, 2007 at 1:53 am
Thanks ey, it’s great to have a bit of validation.
Y-Front, I don’t think we should get too smug about Rooney’s injury. van Persie’s got a permanent locker at the Institute of Broken Metatarsals. And don’t you realise that y-fronts lower your sperm count? For shame, man! Let the little fellas swing free and proud.

To Well-endowed gooner ,
It looks as if we have the whole blog to ourselves probably due to some spur cyborg terrorist (always good to blame these f*kers when in doubt).
My post match comments - :
1. Arsenal will no longer be intimidated this year as this game demonstrated today - Bring on Blackburn this week end
2. To the Doomdaysayers : Whilst we appreciate your comments, the reality is:
a) We are scoring goals - Not as as pretty as last year but effective - Game Stats: 4 shots at goal - 2 goals
b) Midfield players are contributing to the score line not unlike in the old days (pires tec.)
c) The team has a winning mentality and will play the full 90 minutes and get the result - At least wait till the game is over before reciting your fucking mantra - we are shit, we are shit … (you know you are…)
d) In my mind we have not yet put the best team on the park and yet we are winning - I guess AW must take some of the credit…
e) There is still time to improve on our squad and the transfer window is not yet closed - Watch this space … AW will do what is required when and if it happens.
Now if you are a true supporters how about a round of cheers for the boys or is this not good enough for you (you know who you are. - wankers..)
.

I didn’t catch the Sparta match, but it’s heartening we got goals from Cesc and Hleb. Maybe it’s the impetus for a goal-gult this year. Then again, didn’t Cesc score twice against Dynamo last year, and never again until the season was over?
I can’t shake the feeling that we’ve been lucky. Hleb scored two in two matches, both in the 90th minute. We’re playing 4-5-1, and van Persie’s getting smothered. I really, really want to see how good Eddie is.

Actually, that’s a brilliant sequence of posts. There’s a slow-build from fervent, bitter Arsenal supporter to raging lunatic. You’ve got respectable gaps in the eariler posts (four, five minutes) which narrows to sub 1-minute posts. The posts are al lthe same, but there are slight differences (sequence of words, spelling, etc) which suggest that he’s taken the trouble to write each post. It’s chillingly deranged.
But what really impresses me is the time frame. It took this guy 25 minutes of controlled posting to get that effect. You need a lot of patience to do something like that; trust me, I’ve tried.
And the clincher is that hauntingly obsessive phrase “I’m a 100% arsenal for life”. It’s the kind of thing only crazed fans say.
Awesome post.

—————-Lehman—————-
Sagna—-Toure—-Gallas—–Clichy
RvP——-Cesc—-Gilberto—-Hleb–
———-Rosicky———————-
—————Eduardo—————-
How about this? Rvp is clearly not a lone striker, he lacks pace and hold-up play, but i think he’d make a great winger….rmb WC 06? The match against portugal.
471. Well-endowed gooner | August 16th, 2007 at 6:20 am
Flu, you think Eddie would cut it as a lone striker? He’s physically frail, isn’t he, like an Arsene Wenger version of Michael Owen? Personally, I’d take the risk and start Bendtner as the centre forward. He’s the only one of our boys who’s big enough, and from what I gather, he doesn’t like running, anyway.
472. Flu0 | August 16th, 2007 at 6:24 am
I watched the pre-season games and he has quite abit of strength and tenacity to his game despite his small frame. And yeah bendter or ade could do the job too, but im biased towards eduardo he really impressed me during pre-season and i’d like to see him in action asap.

Flu, I’d like to see Eduardo in the team as well. If we’re going to be any chance, we’ll need him. And I forgot about Ade completely.
476. vlcgooner | August 16th, 2007 at 7:19 am
So, Fabs scores a goal, stops another one, and kicks the thug who promised to kick him out the game…and then mocks him. Why do people think he is not tough enough??? The dude is top-class, Zidane-like. Brilliant skill, fantastic vision, and a kind of nasty streak that comes out when he is on the field (he seems almost too nice off of it).
And Hleb scores his second goal in two games…we can only hope that his confidence feeds on itself the same way his lack-of-confidence did the second half of last year.
I have heard a lot of shit on this board about how these players are not good enough. Not only was it incredibly negative, but it was clearly wrong. I think EVERYONE could see that tonight.

476. vlcgooner | August 16th, 2007 at 7:19 am _____________________________________
I’ve become quite negative about this team as well. In my heart, I don’t think Arsenal will challenge for anything. I was frustrated by the team last year, and I didn’t see anything in the off season that changed that view. I would’ve been happy with a 4th place.
But then I saw the goals. Cesc’s goal brought a tear to the eye, and a silent curse that I’ve be ruminating upon my penis for the whole day instead of reliving that beauty goal. Hleb’s goal was nice, too. There’s a steely determination about this side this year, ain’t there?
I still don’t think we’re going to win the league, but I think we’ll do alright. 2nd or 3rd, maybe. 1st if we’re incredbily lucky with injuries (although unlikely).
479. gunnershabz | August 16th, 2007 at 7:48 am

We need goals from the midfield i`m glad for Helb and Fabregas hopfully there is more to come.Tough game next vs Blackburn
481. Rabbi Savvy | August 16th, 2007 at 8:07 am
I liked Clichy’s run. the initial movement was crucial. He saw the pas being made, was way behind, charged down, intercepted and marauded his way through the filed before selling a dummy and clearing the way for Cesc.
In the second goal, when hleb started running, there was one defender ahead and two along with him. they were perhaps tired and Sagna produced a very good ball. Reminiscent on many a Arsenal goal, the only difference being TH14 would have turned and used his right foot to curl the ball round the keeper.
I am happy to win. anyone have the Repka-cesc clip?
482. Rabbi Savvy | August 16th, 2007 at 8:10 am
I would go with the following line up for Rovers
Toure-Senderos-Gallas-Clichy
Hleb-Cesc-Diaby-Rosicky
rvP-Ade
If Ade is not ready, I will got for Bendtner ahead of da silva. Roque Santa Cruz is good in the air and we need some height to defend set pieces well. McCarthy will probably miss out but Rovers still have enough quality upfront to test our creaking defence.
483. TopCat | August 16th, 2007 at 8:12 am
Morning all…
I listened to the game and has been said, Sparta tried to play it rough, but we were having none of it - thought Flamini might be sent off, he along with fab, clichy, rvp, all got bookings, rvp’s for “consistant fouling” - whatever that means.
Lehman while not conceeding, was anything but assured in goal, which is my only worry for the current season.
Great to see Hleb score again… keep it up Alex.
And thats for the tribute James, keep up the good work.
484. Rabbi Savvy | August 16th, 2007 at 8:14 am
Lehmann has the occasional howler but some of the saves he makes are just class. but then in his job, the failures stick out far more than the good saves.
485. TopCat | August 16th, 2007 at 8:21 am
I said earlier that Lehman is a great shot stopper. Its the simple things, like crosses and kicking that he seems to make such a meal out of - cant give the defenders confidence.
486. WillyG | August 16th, 2007 at 8:25 am
Did Sagna have a good game? he did really well for the second goal….
487. king4aday | August 16th, 2007 at 8:36 am
Few points:
1. Our midfield is scoring.
2. We sent out a message to teams that like ‘physical’ play through Fabs that we wont stand for it.
3. Alex Hleb has put two in the eyes of his detractors and is a quality player.
4. Sagna/Clichy overlapping may be the key to later goals when our fitness stretches teams and creates openings.
Finally a ’scuffed’ goal is better than a precise shot that hits the post/is saved by the keeper/just wide/tremendously blocked on the line by great defending etc… GIVE HLEB THE CREDIT THAT RUN DESERVES.
488. king4aday | August 16th, 2007 at 8:39 am

Made me smile….
The Tottenham Hotspur chairman, Daniel Levy, had crisis talks with his manager, Martin Jol, yesterday over the Dutchman’s future at the club. Jol’s position at the club has been made fragile by his side’s poor start to the campaign, but he has been in a difficult position since last season.
The 51-year-old has been told in no uncertain terms that he will have to turn the season around quickly – starting with Derby County on Saturday – or face the consequences. Jol has rescued his Tottenham career from the brink before but, one year on, he will be shown less patience by the board this time.
Having invested more than £40m on players over the summer, the club have started with two defeats and the gloom deepened yesterday when it emerged that striker Dimitar Berbatov is facing two weeks out with a groin injury.
The position of the club’s director of football, Damien Comolli, is not in question and he has impressed Tottenham’s hierarchy with his attitude in the last two years. Should a decision be made to part company with Jol, any new manager would be obliged to work under Comolli.
Jol has clashed with the board in the recent past and was told to pick Berbatov for the FA Cup tie against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in March, having originally left the Bulgarian striker out of the team in order to rest him. The form of Berbatov has been one of the key areas of concern for Tottenham over the first two games of the season, not looking the same player who took the Premier League by storm last season.
There were understood to be harsh words spoken after the last minute defeat to Sunderland, with the Bulgarian angry at his team-mates.
Come to Arsenal Dimitri….. see how the better half live….

Morning all. What happened to the site last night GS? Good to see it’s alright.
Great to see us win from midfield, that bet is gonna turn out awesome. They should include Eboue in it as well.
Also, no Ronaldo for 3 games and maybe more (violent conduct innit)! Chelsea’s defence looks as shocking as their away kit! We actually had a clean sheet and stood up to them trying to beat the crap out of us! THIS SEASON IS GONNA BE AWESOME!

TC: I hate to say it but after their past two games, I see Spurs going out for their manager and battering Derby like 5-0 (so we get the Top 4 shit back) but they will be crap again after it. How long it takes King and Lennon to get back? If they aren’t till like October, Jol out looks a good bet.

Samuel.
Terry is back for Chelsea so their defence will tighten up - Drogba scored last night - so they pretty much a full strength team….
This is the first season for 10 years or more, that Man Utd have not won either of their first two games.
No Rooney, Ronaldo banned - seems their good fortune last season has deserted them….
Chelsea play pool on Sunday…. a 0-0 would be nice.
