Barnet 0 - 2 Arsenal: Match report/pictures

0 guns July 16th, 2007

And we’re back. Not just Gunnerblog, which took a one-day hiatus yesterday whilst I enjoyed the thrills and somewhat literal spills of a bout of food poisoning, but Arsenal. Over 5,000 fans saw an entertaining if not classic game in which we emerged as two nil winners.

Because I’d had to pick my ticket up from the box-office pre-game, I ended up being rather early, and by chance this led to me being almost at pitchside when our players first arrived. They were all very polite, as you’d expect, and signed plenty of autographs.

Theo Walcott in particular was remarkably friendly - we even ended up having a brief chat about his shoulder problem. There must have been fifty odd fans there by the time he arrived, and I think he signed every autograph. Impressive, particularly from one so young. The way he handles the pressure and responsibility is something to be admired.

Manuel Almunia was there with his new Vanilla Ice look (left), and it seems he will be staying at the club after Athletic Bilbao cooled their interest in the shot-stopper. He started alongside Mathieu Flamini - another who looks like staying.

The future of Kerrea Gilbert is a harder one to call - I myself had almost forgotten about him. With the arrival of Sagna, he’s now fourth choice in our vast collection of right-backs, and might find it hard to get game. Furthermore, in the flesh he really is absolutely tiny - I wouldn’t be surprised to see him moved on before September 1st.

It was great to see the returns of Robin van Persie and Theo Walcott after several months out. Whilst van Persie looked unsurprisingly rusty, Walcott’s shoulder operation seems to have given him greater freedom of movement, and his running with the ball was much more direct. Whilst I remain sceptical about his ability to come straight into our first team, there certainly were some more promising signs from the young winger.

One man who wasn’t in the side despite his presence at Underhill was Eduardo. Worryingly, he is very very slight in the flesh. If a breeze had struck up, he might well’ve blown over. People talk about missing Henry’s speed and finishing prowess, but let’s not forget that the man was six-foot plus and incredibly powerful. Our already small team is getting smaller.

In the first half our senior players were too much for Barnet, and it was overdue when Emmanuel Adebayor side-footed Theo Walcott’s cross home to make it 1-0. Although the game was fairly uneventful, I thought that Mathieu Flamini stood out with some excellent passing.

Alex Song played the first-half at centre-back, and to be honest, it was a complete shambles. I know many readers think I’m harsh on Song, and granted he was playing out of position, but it became ridiculous. When he was replaced by debutant Havard Nordveit after 45 minutes, our defending immediately improved.

A whole host of other youngsters turned out for the second half, of which Henri Lansbury’s performance caught my eye. He has a real eye for a pass, and an intelligence about his play not dissimilar to a certain Spaniard we all know.

The second goal came from Nacer Barazite - a tall, Kaka-esque (ie. powerful yet cultured) forward with obvious ability, as the second goal in this clip shows. At the moment his biggest problem is going to be finding his best position - he’s already played centre-forward, central midfield and right-winger in his short career.

There’s a written report here, and a video clip showing both goals and an interview with Arsene here.

In an interview with ArsenalTVOnline, Arsene intimated that there would be no further signings - the equivalent of telling your children that Christmas has been cancelled:

“At the moment, I don’t feel any need.”

Well, hopefully, Arsene’s mood is changeable. Once the sale of Jose Reyes is completed, added to the possible departure of Freddie Ljungberg (Arsene very carefully said that “at the moment” and only “at the moment” he is staying), there will be a very definite need for at least one wide player.

There are quite a few rumours about a couple of Argentinian players floating around the web. I’m not convinced there’s anything to them, but you never know. More later, perhaps.

I really hope he finds the need to sign new players.

I still feel we need two signings - striker and wide player.

I have a feeling that we are done in the transfer market. Wenger has this thing for trusting youngsters and while it s very honorable, it won;t get us the title or a cup. walcott maybe the wide player that wenger thinks should fill the gap. As said in the blog, its too early for walcott to be a regular and unless we get a wide player with some experience we won;t have much luck again…
Doom monger i am not, but certainly a little skeptical of our chances.

I have the feeling this is a team for nexxt year. let’s just hope that spurs don’t pip us for 4th place. there’s no way we can compete with liverpool’s spending spree right now.

Has anyone heard anything about this Argie were in for?
Palacio or summit along those lines…
its in The Sun tomorrow, they say hes in london on tuesday for his medical after we agreed a 14million deal with Boca Juniors. The same rumour is circulateing on other Arse sites and in Argentina.

    Sagna Toure Gallas Clichy
    Cesc Silva Rosicky
    van Persie Ade Eduardo

  • 13. dan  |  July 16th, 2007 at 1:15 am

he isn’t buying anyone else and we are going no where his little experiment with the youngsters gets on my nerves i really would like a team than can compete, but obviously not. i wish he would sod off already.

  • 14. Anthony B  |  July 16th, 2007 at 1:16 am

and why in Gods name would you put Fabianski in for Lehmann? have you even seen the kid play
surely you dont think hes been signed as number 1 for this season..

  • 15. Gooner4ever  |  July 16th, 2007 at 1:16 am

Hehe, I’m still pretty sure that he will be our 1st choice at right side this season

  • 16. Anthony B  |  July 16th, 2007 at 1:17 am

His youngsters can obviously compete seein as we only lost one time out of 6 games against the top 3 teams
it just the consistency, which will come with maturity.

  • 17. Bergkamp  |  July 16th, 2007 at 2:04 am

To play a 433 we would need attacking fullbacks. So Eboue wold have to be there for the width.

  • 20. Well-endowed Gooner  |  July 16th, 2007 at 2:42 am

I remember around 01-02, Fergie was complaining about the physically imposing Arsenal side. Back then, every player was a six-foot, ugly as fuck, bad arse. We had height, strength, power and a collection of penises you wouldn’t believe. What happened? Why are we suddenly a bunch of Lilliputians? Eduardo is the latest in the Arsene Wenger conveyor belt of midgets and oompah loompahs. Who’s our scout now that Giles has moved upstairs? Willy Wonka?

I hypothesize that there’s a direct correlation between dick size and team success. Look at Man Utd; apart from Cristano Ronaldo, they could all be mistaken for horses. There’s no other rational explanation for their win last year; we played the pants off them, they had no defensive midfielder, they’re all cunts apart from Giggs, etc…

It’s depressing the names we’re passing up. Martins has a big one (for his size), as does Babel. Ribery, Torres and Anelka are all more dick than man (Anelka’s an absolute prick).

When will Wenger learn? We’re only going to win the league when we sell these poorly-endowed gunners and replace them with absolute monsters. Take it from someone with experience; without a gigantic penis, you’re not going to get anywhere in life.

  • 21. Anthony B  |  July 16th, 2007 at 2:46 am

  • 22. Arsene Wenger II  |  July 16th, 2007 at 3:03 am

Reyes… The only player who moaning this and that bout weather, adaptation, language… He created a shameful record in premier league history haha… Reyes… Shame on you… None of the Spaniards in premier league have a weak mentality like his… Haha… We hope u leave Arsenal, this type of player doesnt even worth $16,000…

  • 23. Arsene Wenger II  |  July 16th, 2007 at 3:06 am

Reyes’ penis SHRINKS in cold weather…

  • 24. munitionsman  |  July 16th, 2007 at 3:12 am

How you can comment on the size of their penis’s. They havnt even been through puberty yet!!

  • 25. munitionsman  |  July 16th, 2007 at 3:12 am

Gallas is all dick. Proves it every time he talks

  • 26. munitionsman  |  July 16th, 2007 at 3:16 am

Being lightweight is ok if you have ur poop in a group and they dont catch you. But when there is 10 behind the ball, it doesnt work. You need balance, and we need strength up front, to compliment mobilitiy. But AW doesnt like imobile players, and he has stated as much.

  • 27. Arsene Wenger II  |  July 16th, 2007 at 3:22 am

Denilson is lightweight but he can cope with the heavyweight of the Bolton Giants… Any comment?

  • 28. Well-endowed Gooner  |  July 16th, 2007 at 3:24 am

munitionsman, my point exactly. We need players with HUGE gentilia to intimidate the other side. Our boys all still have boy-sized appendages. I mean, remember when Adams, Keown, Dixon and Winterburn would shuck off their pants and wave their things at the opposition? How scary was that? Compare that to today’s side - no wonder we’ve slid down the table. I mean, who’s going to be afraid of the penises of Clichy, Eboue, Toure and Gallas? And don’t get me started with Reyes.

BTW, Gallas is all talk. I mean, if you’re going to call yourself “Willy”, you’ve got to be compensating for something, right? If he really had a big hummer, he would’ve have to boast about it.

P.S - I have a dick worthy of the legendary back four.

  • 29. Well-endowed Gooner  |  July 16th, 2007 at 3:25 am

Arsene Wenger II, Denilson has big balls. Evidentially.

  • 30. Arsene Wenger II  |  July 16th, 2007 at 4:01 am

I dont really happy with the departure of our ex-captain.When a ship is about to sink… The Captain who escape before everyone does is a coward. U see Bergkamp… He is a pure Arsenal legend… He got a proud, big muscular dick like horse’s penis

  • 34. munitionsman  |  July 16th, 2007 at 6:59 am

15 million?? He would want to be hung like stallion.

  • 35. Well-endowed Gooner  |  July 16th, 2007 at 7:09 am

He’s 15 millions pounds worth of cock! Can you imagine how big he’d have to be? You’d need to ship him in on a aircraft carrier. And give him a wheel-barrow to walk around with. If we had him in the team, no way we’d lose. I only see two problems:

    1. Our passing game would lose effectiveness because his teammates would be afraid of stepping on his massive, slithering, slimy python.

    2. Palacio will be infertile in a very short time as our players (unaccustomed as they are to truly mammoth endowment) will mistake his gigantic testicles for the ball and kick them. I shudder to think what van Persie’s perfect technique will do to Palacio unborn generations.

But seriously, isn’t he a bit pricey for a Wenger buy? I like the idea that we’re snatching him from under Barca’s nose, but still… do we have that much money to spend on one (albeit well-hung) guy?

  • 36. edurado  |  July 16th, 2007 at 7:28 am

my big brazillian donger will do the trick dont you worry!

  • 37. TopCat.  |  July 16th, 2007 at 7:46 am

    Morning All.

With all that has come to light re Thierry Henry’s split from his wife - sources saying that he told them he quit Arsenal for Barcelona to get away from “everything English — including my wife”.

If his marriage was breaking up around him and from what AW says it was “Henry’s decision not mine” - then does this cut him any slack with the gooners who felt he had turned his back on the club?

  • 38. Dave  |  July 16th, 2007 at 7:51 am

The Palacio story must be a canard as I can’t imagine Wenger going into the new season with 6 strikers: Walcott, Akinabasram, Van Persie, Bendtner, Eduardo and even Palacio when we are in desperate need of a player like Quaresma and Pedersen? Bullshit. But I reckon that even with 5 strikers there is still missing the quality upfront. None of our strikers has scored more than 20 goals in the league a season and I wonder if they ever will. Van Persie must surely step up next season as he showed glimpses of being a worldclass player the season before. Poor Nicole Merry, I don’t know what has happened with Henry recently but he is acting more and more like an utter cunt. Perhaps those chats with Cuntley, Eto’o and Ronnie were not that brilliant.

  • 39. gunnershabz  |  July 16th, 2007 at 7:51 am

well rodrigo palacio well i hope he will come, i dont think wenger was interested in obafemi martins at all, it was all paper talk and especially no one knows his age

this guy at work, he is from nigeria big football fan, he was a radio presenter there.

well he said it so easy to get a fake birth certificate there and no one knows much about martins, he just ended up at reggina in serie a

But perhaps she is not that poor getting rid of that French cock. Could you imagine living with Thierry’s big ego in same house all the time? Would sound like a nightmare. He coming home and saying: “Now we are doing Thierry Henry.” LOL

  • 42. TopCat.  |  July 16th, 2007 at 7:57 am

Dave - RVP got 13 goals and was in great form before he got injured. No reason top think he would not have finished with 20+ goals.

I would hope that if we do not buy a left winger that RVP is used there… otherwise we have no width on that left side - or perhaps le boss has a few surprises in store.

  • 43. gunnershabz  |  July 16th, 2007 at 7:58 am

rodrigo palacio is very mobile player can play in attack and out wide as well

same as eduardo he can play anywhere on the front line

Footballers are a law unto themselves - there is no downside for them.

Don’t like your club - fuck it, change it.

Same with the wife - I don’t know Nicole, but she is gorgeous, and apparently a lovely girl - but, TH knows he can fuck her off and have a new model within a week.

Rural has missed you terribly these last days….

I didn’t even notice you were gone.

So would Palacio be a good signing - in your opinion.

  • 62. ron  |  July 16th, 2007 at 9:37 am

dont know much about him TC, but if u have been reading my posts, & i believe u have, then u will be aware that i said that we need another stiker, as RVP is injury prone, ade isnt good enough to be a starter (ANC too), dudu is a gamble & bendtner untested.

also, i saw baps goal last nite, very good but i thought he didnt do much else.

however, if were only getting £6.5m for reyes, then id prefer a straight swap.

  • 63. TopCat.  |  July 16th, 2007 at 9:43 am

As I say, I think AW will use one of the strikers on the wing - either convert him or simply adapt the formation to accomodate.

The buzz in Newcastle is that they are trying to swap Martins for Robinho!

    Jokers.

The worst thing about this weekend has been the discovery that the red scousers are launching their own TV channel, to be shown by the setanta sports group…. to who we already subscribe, due to the fact that RLF is a horseracing nut…. FKN 24 hour a day bloody liverpool….. I could soon be filing for custody of the TV remote :-(

  • 66. munitionsman  |  July 16th, 2007 at 10:00 am

I see a fully mobile interchangable forward line with only Ade unable to “wing it”. Attacking from all directions simulataneously. Fluid like mercury and just as deadly. Ah yes huddle round my little one’s and see what I see.

    Morning Rural….

Why don’t you sign up to Arsenal.com tv…

I see what you see, but still think we should go 433 so we can put rosicky in the middle where he is best! I’m pretty sure that most gunners will be pleasantly surprised enxt season, looking forward to the Emirates cup, just got sky so i could watch it, as well as the amsterdam tournament!!

  • 77. munitionsman  |  July 16th, 2007 at 10:17 am

73, he has some competition for CM though. Maybe he is “son of Dennis”

Watched Dennis today in a classic game against leister. Wat a magician. Where do we get another like that?

  • 78. munitionsman  |  July 16th, 2007 at 10:20 am

    76,

agree on Rosicky, I think he has much more to offer centrally. The possie he plays for the czechs. I thought he was pretty good in the euro qualifiers.

    Anyone else can advise?

  • 83. TopCat.  |  July 16th, 2007 at 10:30 am

    82.

    Why do you say that?

Wasn’t gelbs / fu and others on here yesterday slating the club again?

  • 84. Blog Head  |  July 16th, 2007 at 10:34 am

    munitionsman,

You can get them in all good book stores

  • 85. TeamSpirit  |  July 16th, 2007 at 10:35 am

    37.

I think it proves what i always thought that TH!4 wanted to get away and his problem was not necessarily the team Arsenal.

It should cut him some slack really i think.

there will be less presssure at barca.

Maybe that also explains why AW first thought he was going to stay and then he ended up not staying; surely AW may not have known then of the impending divorce.

I have divorce, its depressig… For their daughters sake they should have tried… but then who am I to judge?

  • 89. FRUDICUS  |  July 16th, 2007 at 10:39 am

Fuck Henry, he’s gone now, he aint a gooner no more! Him leaving will benefit us, the likes of RvP, Fabregas and Rosicky can now take on the extra responsibility and show us what they can do, especially Rosicky, I personally would rather have him than fabregas, he’s got more to his game!

  • 90. HARRY  |  July 16th, 2007 at 10:40 am

    Hello fellow Gooners.
It’s an amazing phenomena that I managed to continue posting this weekend, despite not actually visiting the blog. The wonders of modern technology!
I’m off to the the tournament at the Grove, but I’d rather be going to Amsterdam!! Although, I will be visiting there in September, but for events other than football…
TC - sounds like you’ve got a date mate… book those plane tickets before she can pull out!

  • 93. munitionsman  |  July 16th, 2007 at 10:42 am

frudicus you will be horse whipped for suggesting rosicky is better than cesc…… cesc is untouchable, but i happen to agree. if rosicky had the CM exposure cesc has had then maybe…. but then AW knows best ;-)

  • 94. munitionsman  |  July 16th, 2007 at 10:43 am

and rosicky will stick around for more than half hour.

  • 95. FRUDICUS  |  July 16th, 2007 at 10:44 am

    93

    CM?

Who’s gonna get you more goals, who takes it past people, who’s quicker, and he can probably match cesc for passing, and is more loyal and determined, need i say more??

  • 96. Blog Head  |  July 16th, 2007 at 10:44 am

    munitionsman,

Dude you can get them from Ann Summers

  • 97. TopCat.  |  July 16th, 2007 at 10:44 am

Mavis - even stranger was that I apparently decided to come into work on Sat and post a message telling you all I loved you.

    See how nice I am ?!!! ; )

I will be booking her a ticket - me and the girlfriend are going, but in Amsterdam, 3 isnt a crowd if you get my meaning!! ; )

    Frudicious,

    Lay off the crack

  • 100. Samuel  |  July 16th, 2007 at 10:45 am

2-3-5? We won fuck loads playing like that in the thirties, didn’t we?

Theo is a genuinely nice guy, my family is good friends with his coach at AFC Newbury (oh yeah, old school) and we met a couple times.

Does anyone actually know anything about Palacio? I assume he is a good signing, Barca wanted him and they’ve had a pretty good track record of late.

Henry seems to become more of a cunt everyday. I heard the only reason he signed a contract last year was because she wanted to stay in London though, which I guess is why he had to split with her to leave.

  • 110. TopCat.  |  July 16th, 2007 at 10:51 am

    107.

    Team Spirit.

Divorce is a terrible thing - In the olden days, couples would try so much harder to make a marriage work, these days marriage is seen by many as something that can easily be terminated, should they not get on anymore….

which kind of goes against the whole point of marriage in the first place.

  • 111. FRUDICUS  |  July 16th, 2007 at 10:51 am

    TC

well if you think we can play the 2-3-5 then yeah maybe it is!

    we need Gilberto.

    no its not marriage counselling.

some of you can be so sensitive, i wonder.

responding to a comment by TC, I just expressed an opinion based on my ownpassed experience as a child growing up with divorced parents

what is so “marriage counselling about that?”

  • 119. FRUDICUS  |  July 16th, 2007 at 10:56 am

    TC

I know we need gilberto, but what was our problem last season, not scoring enough, yeah we might concede, but rosicky and fabregas in the centre they will be able to rip teams apart, all we need to do is get the wing backs to sit back a bit!

  • 120. BENDTNER WILL BE BOSS  |  July 16th, 2007 at 10:56 am

It’s funny how every blog seem to forget that Wenger too mentioned Bendtner in the post match interview.
i do realize that the majority of arsenal supporters are a whinging bunch of pessimists, but Bendtner will be very influential for arsenal, as he has been for the danish national team. He has the power, speed, technique, vision and aerial threat. His qualities should render any discussion about his young age obselete

  • 121. DolomiteDonOfLight  |  July 16th, 2007 at 10:57 am

    TC,

Those clowns posted as me all weekend long. I dont really care about their opinions either cos its BS and take note of the caps ……

  • 122. Samuel  |  July 16th, 2007 at 10:57 am

If there isn’t any truth in the rumours in Palacio, I think it still shows we in the transfer market. I personally believe Wenger will wait till Reyes goes before he spends the check for him, thus the “at the moment”.
More and more likely it’s gonna be 4-3-3 but I can see a diamond of:
    Gilberto
    Hleb Fabregas
Rosicky/Ade (I think Ade would be way better behind the attack, he could do everything he does now, but not worry about his bad shooting ability.)

  • 127. FRUDICUS  |  July 16th, 2007 at 11:00 am

    TC

yeah was just quicker to say that then left back and right back, or let them push up, but 1 at a time, that way we still got three back to defend. Thing is Rosicky get’s back when he needs to and can tackle, not as good as gilberto, but better than Hleb!!

  • 128. TopCat.  |  July 16th, 2007 at 11:01 am

Divorce is hard when you are in your teens….

So anyone now if there’s anything in the Palacio story?

  • 130. DeiseGooner  |  July 16th, 2007 at 11:06 am

Baptista is definately gone. Le Boss “For us it is sorted out,” . “He returns to Real Madrid. That was clearly indicated to him at the end of the season.” Freddie mignt not be “I expect him to be here [at the start of the campaign] because he has not left yet,” said Wenger. “So that is 90 per cent yes. The Freddie case is a bit different than it was for Thierry Henry, if he had wanted to go we would have let him go. But I am happy that he stays.”

  • 133. Brian Talbot Free Kick King  |  July 16th, 2007 at 11:14 am

so does anyone have any idea how common it is for rumours to be posted on Wkipedia? This Palacio rumour about him coming to Arsenal on Tuesday was posted there over the weekend as im sure most of u realise. So can we dismiss it out of hand or not??

  • 134. Nick  |  July 16th, 2007 at 11:17 am

Wikipedia is an open forum… anyone can post to it, even you!

  • 135. DeiseGooner  |  July 16th, 2007 at 11:17 am

Wkipedia has been known to be less than reliable and contain incorrect information at times yes.

  • 136. TopCat.  |  July 16th, 2007 at 11:20 am

Chelsea star Lassana Diarra has given encouragement to those trying to lure him away from Stamford Bridge by refusing to accept a new contract offer from the club.

The midfielder has been offered a new three year contract by Chelsea with just one year left on his current deal but is refusing point blank to accept the deal.

Rather than allow the midfielder to leave on a Bosman free, Chelsea will now listen to offers for the player who has been linked with a move to Arsenal.

  • 137. Brian Talbot Free Kick King  |  July 16th, 2007 at 11:20 am

well ive just been doing a little gooooooooooooooooooooogling and this rumour is fucking EVERYWHERE!!
Looks like the Sun picked up on it too and now everyones quoting it.
Interesting that he plays number 14 for Boca and that the 14 shirt is on hold since Henry left.

  • 138. DeiseGooner  |  July 16th, 2007 at 11:21 am

When was he linked to a move to the Arsenal ? Just there in that report ? :o)

  • 139. TopCat.  |  July 16th, 2007 at 11:23 am

    he has a gay-ass ponytail.

I don’t want his sort at Arsenal.

  • 140. Brian Talbot Free Kick King  |  July 16th, 2007 at 11:24 am

Personally i think there is some substance to these rumours…..or maybe thats just wishful thinking…….it would overload us with forwards though and would prevent Bentner and Walcott seeing much action, maybe not such a bad thing!

  • 141. Brian Talbot Free Kick King  |  July 16th, 2007 at 11:27 am

seems that it was first reported by a Boca blog and then by various arsenal blogs, wikipedia and then the Sun, BBC SPORT have a headline under their gossip section which just quotes the Sun again. But compared to last night when i first saw it mentioned online this story is certainly gathering pace today!

  • 142. VLCgooner  |  July 16th, 2007 at 11:27 am

Wikipedia works on the “many eyes” principle. New information can be wildly inaccurate, so yes, there are plenty of rumors. The idea is that overtime those entries will be edited by other people until “the crowd” arrives at some kind of entry that is pretty good– better than most individual writers could do. But for new information, like the Palacio rumor, who the hell has had time to edit it? Who has evidence to either confirm or deny it? Nobody. So, I doubt its accuracy.

  • 143. DeiseGooner  |  July 16th, 2007 at 11:29 am

Mate I’m worried about you, leave the crack alone

  • 145. TeamSpirit  |  July 16th, 2007 at 11:33 am

Ron, really whats up with you?

I have “gotten on with it” as you so eloquently put it…

I just observed that i was making acomment based on the very recent divorce by TH14; JUST A COMMENT; maybe it caused me to reflect back on what i went through growing up as a child in a broken home… There is nothing there that suggested I had not gotten over it.

JUST A COMMENT. is is not possible that a recent happening can cause one to reflect back? Does that immediately imply that one is moaning? SURELY MAKING AN OBSERVATION IS ALLOWED? The fact that people steal or kill will not make us therefore take it as normal and applaud those that do so, if it happens at any thime, we will still say what a bad thing it is!

Relax man! Absolutely no offense meant and none taken. I just commented on my take of the situation based on TC’s comment in 37; absolutely nothing to get uptight about.

And TC, am well out of my teens; my dad is late s its not like there was any chance they would make up or anything. Thanks though, your response is definately more enocuraging than a certain [erosn…

  • 152. Gunner8  |  July 16th, 2007 at 11:44 am

Nacer Barazite could play on the right… ….the video clip of him showed him scoring coming in from that position and it was a similar goal to the one at Barnet… …he is big an powerful for his age and I think he looked good enough for a squad number this year.

  • 153. mr serge  |  July 16th, 2007 at 11:45 am

i will be shocked if we buy another striker especially oe that has no experience outside south america i don’t know to much abut placio to be fair to him though

150… you are very rude… It must be pointed out to you; for what ever good it will do you… The fact that you try to cope with life by using a lot of fancy swear words does not make other people less entitled to making a comment

you know nothing about me and there is nothing in my comments about my parents breaking up that said i felt sorry for myself and never stood a chance…

    I am doing quote well, not that i owe you any explanations i was just pointing out that your reaction was a bit over board to an observation amde that parents should stay together more often;

    the fact that i dont express mine in your yuppie carefree; life is good fashion does not make it less of a valid opinion…;

Just relax and learn the art of talking politely to people. It will serve you in good stead in future be sure of that…

  • 165. FRUDICUS  |  July 16th, 2007 at 11:57 am

    Team Spirit

My parents split up when i was 2, am 21 now, it is difficult, every child wants their parents to be together, its a shame that people dont stick together any more. Im in a difficult relationship and weve got a son, bu i know i always wanted my parents to be together that’s why im stickin it out, so there aint nothing wrong with what your saying so ignore that twat.

150 - Your a dick, shut up, you dont know what your chatting about!

  • 166. Brian Talbot Free Kick King  |  July 16th, 2007 at 11:58 am

Ade is defintely not good enough to be our main choice striker this year….hes like Peter Crouch but less effective!!

RVP and DuDu seem the obvious first choice duo without any real experience as back up……i think we need another forward and would sell Ade.

  • 167. Blog Head  |  July 16th, 2007 at 11:59 am

    Frudicus,

Firstly you need to lay off the crack, then maybe you can get your life back together dude

  • 168. ron  |  July 16th, 2007 at 12:00 pm

barazite - im not saying he wont be a great player, or that he will…

he isnt even in the first team yet, i know very little about him, as im sure u all dont

but he scores one goal in our first friendly against barnet & suddenly he is the next bergkamp!!!!

thats the sort of mentality that kids from broken homes have…

  • 169. DeiseGooner  |  July 16th, 2007 at 12:00 pm

I like Ade. He puts 100% into every game. He doesnt hide either if he isnt having the best of games, he will continue to show for the ball and continue to try make things happen. He is still only 23 so his improvement should continue. Id say he should be good for 12-15 league goals this season and quite a few assists too.

  • 170. Blog Head  |  July 16th, 2007 at 12:00 pm

  • 174. FRUDICUS  |  July 16th, 2007 at 12:04 pm

Ade is a good player, when terry and carragher were asked who was the most difficult player they played against, they both immediatly said Adebayor, he will be great, now henry is gone he’ll get more games, and he will be key to us this season, as well as rosicky, fab, RvP. I also think Denilson will be pretty good this season, and dont forget Diaby, he will be awesome!

  • 175. FRUDICUS  |  July 16th, 2007 at 12:05 pm

Crack and brown is like pringles, once you pop you cant stop. Very mor-ish, agreed colombo mavis

Evem when we only had Ade fit last season Diaby got the pick as second striker over Walcott, so he isn’t going to be the fifth striker.

That leaves us Van Persie, Eduardo, Adebayor and Bendtner. As two of these are unproven, one will almost certainly go to the ANC and we know how it feels to have 4 strikers injured, getting another one is important.

Another winger and another striker please Mr. Wenger. Even if it’s 4-3-3, another winger and another striker. I am getting excited about next season yo.

  • 178. FRUDICUS  |  July 16th, 2007 at 12:11 pm

176 - Yeah i agree, but when you got a kid you cant just think about whats best for you, its about the kid too. And you might say that its better to have 2 seperate happy parents, than 1 unhappy family, but children dont think like that, they want their parents together no matter what. To be a man is to keep your responsibilities, something you obviously dont know about, seeing as you would fuck off. You dont know what your talking about, wait till your in the same position and then well see if you say the same thing!!11

  • 179. Samuel  |  July 16th, 2007 at 12:13 pm

I also have a strong feeling about Denilson. Dude’s gonna be a legend. In two years time Denilson/Diaby is gonna kill any midfield in Europe.

  • 180. DeiseGooner  |  July 16th, 2007 at 12:14 pm

Im sure there are better places to air your views on divorce , i just know it.

    Our d-i-v-o-r-c-e becomes final today
Me and little j-o-e will be going away
I love you both and this will be
    Pure h-e-double-l for me
Oh, I wish that we could stop this d-i-v-o-r-c-e

  • 181. Frudicus  |  July 16th, 2007 at 12:16 pm

Anyway, back to football, Mccarthy is not too old, we only need him for a couple of seasons while Adebayor and Bendtner improve, for about 8 mil he would be best value for money!!

  • 182. Samuel  |  July 16th, 2007 at 12:17 pm

My parents split when I was 11 leading to copious alcoholism for my mother and relative happiness for my father. In the long haul it was better them seperate than together but it fucking sucked at the time for about a year.
To say stick it out to every family is stupid but I think for some it works, some it doesn’t. I have a genuine belief that someone would have died if my parents stayed together, I remember at least twice I’ve seen knives been thrown in my childhood.

  • 183. DeiseGooner  |  July 16th, 2007 at 12:18 pm

Surely playing will improve those 2 better that watching Benny play ? Look at Cesc

  • 184. ron the consellor  |  July 16th, 2007 at 12:18 pm

178 - the best for your child is not for him/her to grow up watching their parents putting themselves through misery, arguing etc!! will he/she learn how to be affectionate etc?

will u still be having sex?
yes - why have sex with someone u cant stand?
no - what will your child think when your both seeing different ppl?

i think u r the one who hasnt thought it through, bruv.

  • 185. ditch the bitch  |  July 16th, 2007 at 12:21 pm

we all know what you should do…

  • 186. Frudicus  |  July 16th, 2007 at 12:23 pm

Look, ‘bruv’, i never said i didnt like her, i said it is a difficult relationship. I agree that a child doesnt wanna see people arguing, but like i said, children dont think like that, they want their parents to be together. Anyway enough for the counselling today!!!! Bruv

183 - Agree too but there are alot of games in the season, so would be nice to get a bit more depth, of a higher standard, if you know what i mean,

  • 187. Frudicus  |  July 16th, 2007 at 12:24 pm

    185 - LOL

My parents ran away from home when I was 16. But I tracked them down to the local caravan park. They were crap at covering their tracks. I took the van next to them where my daughter was conceived. It scares me to write these things……..

  • 190. ron diddy  |  July 16th, 2007 at 12:26 pm

if its wrong, make it right, not 2morrow, 2nite.

  • 191. Ruralgoon  |  July 16th, 2007 at 12:28 pm

I guess I’m fortunate that my parents have stayed together; It must really suck to be stuck in the middle of an accrimonious break up.. :-(

As an adult, if divorce is imminent, the only advice should be : do whatever is necessary to keep each party as happy as possible, and if you must row NEVER EVER do it in front of the child..

If you are the kid in this situation; people do fall out of love with each other, but NEVER out of love with their child. Remember that and try to stay as neutral as possible. Love both parents as best you can…

  • 192. ron diddy  |  July 16th, 2007 at 12:28 pm

Divorce is such a painful process to go through, but with a little help from your friends and the drugs they sell to you, such as Angel Dust, PCP and horse tranquilisers, then you can get through it with a smile on your face.

    Chin up

Now for fucks sake, get back to the football chit chat or get the fuck out of here, you slags.

  • 197. ron's didn't  |  July 16th, 2007 at 12:35 pm

  • 205. ron  |  July 16th, 2007 at 12:44 pm

Afternoon all, well, not all, most of you though, but definitely not some, but I’d probably say the majority, with a few exceptions, OK?

Right….This Palacio, I heard his 1st name is Buckingham, is that true?

  • 216. Geekov  |  July 16th, 2007 at 1:03 pm

    I’ve been confirmed, you know.

    dunno why…
1 thing i have noticed that you alll talk about non football related topics which is odd seein as though this is an AFC blog : S..
anyway what do people think of this palacio rumour then?..
surely we go for martins coz hes cheeper and proved him self in the prem…
    any thoughts??

  • 218. Bergkamp  |  July 16th, 2007 at 1:05 pm

Good evening Geekov, don’t know about his first name.

    http://www.b92.net/sport/fudbal/vesti.php?yyyy=2007&mm=07&dd=16&nav_id=255466

Can you imagine Palacio firing with Dudu and RvP. We’d win a LOT of games :D

  • 219. TopCat.  |  July 16th, 2007 at 1:05 pm

Wow… where is Ric-Dizzle and Gunner8 when you need then - there has been more talk on divorce than football today - now Im about to have a word, they will pop up and castigate me for it!

Frudicus - ron is on a big time wind up - don’t let him get under your skin and do not under any circumstances start telling random people on a blog personal details about the troubles in your life.

To all the kids from broken homes - its no big thing these days - we as humans, are not meant to get emotionally attached to our mates - but we do. So 10+ years down the line, whether there are kids involved or not, it is unlikely that you will still be together, - people change and so much more is accessible to us thesedays that there is no longer a financial reason to get married - well unless you are 2 dlist celebritys who want some dosh from OK or Hello….. love can disappear at any given moment, so its unlikely your relationship will stand the test of time - that doesn’t make you weak or a failure, just 1 in 1m relationships that didn’t work out.

The most important thing is to act like an adult through the breakup -especially if there are children involved. Think about how you acted around each other when you first met - thats how you should aim to act when you break up - with dignity and respect for one another, especially if you have a child - this is the woman/man you once deemed important enough to be the mother/father of your child - remember that and treat them accordingly.

Be strong and be true to yourself - its not who you are that defines you its the things you do…. so act like a man and take responsibility - show your child that they can look up to their father.

    Tomorrow…. dealing with erection problems!!! ; )

    TC

So, please desist from this folly, thank you.

  • 230. Nacer  |  July 16th, 2007 at 1:18 pm

palacio would be a good signing but i feel we hav more need for a wide player if we are gunna have a decent 442 squad..
i dont realy care if martins is untrust worthy ive always rated him and i think he would be a good signing..
all we realy neeed is a prolific goalscorer that actualy shoots like martins or palacio instead of faffing arounf=d in the box and trying to create the perfect goal….i thought when we got rosicky that would change things but obviosly not…

  • 231. Frudicus  |  July 16th, 2007 at 1:19 pm

    yes bruv.

  • 234. Frudicus  |  July 16th, 2007 at 1:21 pm

230 - It was rosicky first season, and he does shoot alot, he was very unlucky last season not to get more goals, I personally think he will be our star man this season, not the top scorer, but all round he will be our best player. Does any 1 know where he came in th eplayer of the season poll? Bruvs

  • 235. Frudicus  |  July 16th, 2007 at 1:24 pm

I do agree with that, but maybe just maybe things will turn out ok, i mean generally the relationship is good, but when we argue it just gets out of hand. Anyways, TC, if you were wenger, with the current squad what would be your formation and starting 11 and subs??? Bruv

  • 236. Nacer  |  July 16th, 2007 at 1:24 pm

Martins out of the 2, proven himself in the prem at shitty newcastle, personally, on a value for money basis, id go with Benni Mccarthy, I mean he played for blackburn and managed 18 goals, not just that, he is a good team player too? thoughts on this bruv?

Actually, Lehmann would probably get in ahead of Seaman for me. Sagna could be top, so let’s see, Gallas and Kolo are 2 top top centre backs, so there and Clichy I likem, yes, I like very much, oh yesss.

  • 260. gooner  |  July 16th, 2007 at 1:42 pm

  • 262. Frudicus  |  July 16th, 2007 at 1:43 pm

    Bruva (Nacer)

If we were to put in an offer for Benni, Im sure hell say he wants to go, no matter what hughes will say, but we know wenger doesnt like the oldies. Dont know about santa cruz, maybe, but then again has not played in the premiership. Wenger just needs to say fuck it, and splash out for a change, on a striker. We need to play the 4 3 3, thats the only way forward, i mean chuck our three best strikers on, with rosicky behind, well be unstoppable!

I come from a broken home and its terrible. The tap leaks in the bathroom many of the tiles are missing. The springs on one side of the sofa has gone and we can’t use the electrics downstairs cos of the flooding.

And some of you just laugh at us people from broken homes. Have you no compassion!

Yeh - Benni would be a good buy and Rooney - what about Ronaldo ? Edmilson is available on a free and palacio (hes got a 18 for pace on FM07 !). What about Babel ? - has he ? Oh shit?

We could get Berbatov from spuds or Messi from Barca - what about Kaka???

This blog is great full of really interesting folk chatting about really big football things! We need wingers !!! and a big dirty bastard in midfield!!! and manager with big balls who can shout at players and a captain like Terry and Adams.

How fantastic it is sharing all these things with you really really bright insightful people.

  • 282. Frudicus  |  July 16th, 2007 at 1:53 pm

  • 284. arsene  |  July 16th, 2007 at 1:56 pm

this is wot i said on arse.com

It would make headline news if Arsène Wenger said his team were NOT good enough to fight for the Premiership crown this season. However, after a couple of years finishing fourth in the league, you can hardly blame journalists for asking the Arsenal manager that very question after their pre-season campaign began with a win over Barnet on Saturday — even if they knew the response.

“That is the aim of the season,” he said. “We are Arsenal. The environment looks very strong but when you go with a young team you feel you can improve every year.

“The players want to prove they have the quality. I believe they do have the quality I just want them to express their talent with belief.”

The departure of Thierry Henry leaves extra responsibility on the remaining strikers but Wenger is clear on the jobs Robin van Persie, Emmanuel Adebayor and Eduardo must fulfil.

“They have to create efficiency in our attacking game and replace the 25 goals per season that Thierry gave us every season,” he said.

“We lost a world-class player who did extremely well for us. Nobody will reach his numbers in the history of the Club. He played eight great years for the club and he was 30 so maybe he did not have the patience anymore to let the young team develop. You can understand that. I feel it was a tough decision for Thierry. The injury and not playing for a period of time had a big influence on his mind.

“But when you lose a world-class player you can only hope to get yourself on a level where you can complete again. It means that some other players have to take more responsibility.”

There is alot of crack being smoked on this blog, mainly by Blogging Heaven

  • 286. Blogging heaven  |  July 16th, 2007 at 1:57 pm

And Senderos is crap and Song is crap and Hleb is shite but they are also great. We need to spend £50m on players but then it is better not to spend too much. The board is useless but they have done really well. We will do jack shit next season but we might win the CL and the prem.

Can hardly wait to chew some more with you really clever guys.

  • 287. TopCat.  |  July 16th, 2007 at 1:59 pm

Dumbass, its about me. Thought you knew that already

  • 359. ron  |  July 16th, 2007 at 2:36 pm

    on arsenal.com, PHW interviewed:

As more and more is paid off the debt do you believe Arsenal’s ability to compete will increase further still?

It’s going to generate a lot more money. Yes we have to pay the debt off, but don’t forget the debt is a 25-year fixed-rate bond, so it’s very manageable and that means the stadium can have nothing but a positive impact on developing the football team. That is what we are here for after all.

so where the fuck is all the money then?

  • 360. TopCat.  |  July 16th, 2007 at 2:37 pm

361; Yes I expect Spurs to surprise us all; Start really well, go on about how this is the year to crack the top 4, then go on a shit run, call for the managers head, get him the sack and finish about 7th or 8th…get a new manager, who’s the new messiah, win your 1st 5 games of the 2008 season, start going on about this is finally the year…yadda yadda..

  • 373. Frudicus  |  July 16th, 2007 at 2:42 pm

Why is there another Frudicus now???

  • 374. cuntstablebill  |  July 16th, 2007 at 2:42 pm

  • 375. fabz  |  July 16th, 2007 at 2:43 pm

    September 1 is coming PETE:

In an interview with ArsenalTVOnline, Arsene intimated that there would be no further signings - the equivalent of telling your children that Christmas has been cancelled:

“At the moment, I don’t feel any need.”

  • 376. TopCat.  |  July 16th, 2007 at 2:43 pm

    372.

Agreed, except Jol won’t get the sack….

  • 377. TH14 aka Fab4  |  July 16th, 2007 at 2:43 pm

    ————–Lehmann
    Sanga—Toure—Gallas—Clichy
    ————–Gilberto
    ——Fabregas—Rosicky
    —Walcott————–R.V.P.
    —————Dudu
    1. I would put Adebayor in the team if he could improve his touch and finishing DURASTICALLY.
2.Unless we put Adebayor in the team there is no need for wingers as hardly no attacking players in that team can head the ball but if Adebayor is in the team use Walcott and R.V.P. as wingers.
3.Last season we were superb against the big teams our real problem was against the smaller teams, so this season we can put Toure in CDM against the smaller teams as he has the grit determination and drive which is needed against the sheffield uniteds and the west hams(swap Toure with Gilberto, put Gilberto at CB). and also with Dudu against the smaller teams he can put the chances away as in theese games chanes may be few and far between(in saying smaller teams i mean teams who put all 11 players behind the ball).
4.Against the bigger teams (top4/6) we may be best putting Adebayor upfront instead of Dudu as he will terrorise defenders and unsettle them then Walcott or R.V.P. will get onto the ball and cause havoc.
5.With Fabregas and Rosicky playing as offensively as they are fabregas could thread a through ball for one of fhe strikers to run onto and Rosicky could hit a few from long range (com up with the goals that can make the difference in certain games).
6.The only signings we really need if any are to improve squad depth.

  • 378. Frudicus  |  July 16th, 2007 at 2:44 pm

Lets just say i got our top 3 players, in my opinion!

  • 379. TH14 aka Fab4  |  July 16th, 2007 at 2:44 pm

    Your thoughts please

  • 380. cuntstablebill  |  July 16th, 2007 at 2:45 pm

372 geekov thought it was just me that thought that of spuds, doh!

  • 381. Blogging Heaven  |  July 16th, 2007 at 2:45 pm

372 - I agree with all of that Geekov apart from the bits I disagree with.

  • 382. Frudicus  |  July 16th, 2007 at 2:47 pm

377 - 1stly - I would put Rvp on the right, like where he plays for holland.

    2nd - Put walcott left

3rd - Very good idea about gilberto and toure, i think toure would even get a couple of goals with that rocket shot of his!

  • 383. Geekov  |  July 16th, 2007 at 2:47 pm

379; Well, my thoughts are that I really hope Charley doesn’t win Big brother and that I was really surprised that Posh Spice chose to wear that off the shoulder number the other day and, well, I think i’ll have a boil in the bag chicken curry for dinner and sit in my underpants eating it as usual.

  • 384. Frudicus  |  July 16th, 2007 at 2:49 pm

    383 - LOL

  • 385. Imtiaz Wookay  |  July 16th, 2007 at 2:49 pm

Well….if the stories regarding Rodrigo Palacio are true then he doesnt seem to be a bad prospect…..afterall he is ranked 46th in the Times Top 50 footballers list (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/article1963015.ece ) ….Qst is though: where does this put DUDU? Unless Van Persie and Dudu are gonna be on the flanks with Palacio and Adebayor unfront? What then of Vela, Bendtner, Hleb and Walcott? Apparently he plays on the flanks too but why cant we get a pure winger rather than converting a guy? Then again, if Ljungberg and Reyes leave it may make sense…

  • 386. cuntstablebill  |  July 16th, 2007 at 2:50 pm

YES!!!!!!!!! wenger said were aiming for the title hoorah! about time yeah

  • 387. ron  |  July 16th, 2007 at 2:50 pm

  • 390. cuntstablebill  |  July 16th, 2007 at 2:52 pm

well that henry geeza came as a winger and he did fuck all!

  • 391. Blogging Heaven  |  July 16th, 2007 at 2:52 pm

    #377

    1) Agreed
    2) Ade can’t head the ball either
    3) Against teams who put all 11 players behind the ball we should play with 11 players in front of the ball.
    4) If Ade wears a really frightening mask he could terrorise them even more.
    5) Rosicky should stay on the bench and hit shots from there. They won’t be expecting that!!!
    6) The deeper the squad the more depth we will have.

    Love this football talk.

Chenelle to win Big Bro, she’s well cute

    - - -

She is an attention seeking whore, hence why she is on Big Brother.

She has already shown that she is happy to fuck on camera in order to win a competition, hence she has no morals.

    She is from Leeds.

    Dont be fooled.

    385. I agree that if the palacios stories aren’t lies then they may be true. I understand the dilemma about when and where to play him and I suggest that this can be solved by playing him when one or two of the others aren’t playing.

  • 407. Chocolicious  |  July 16th, 2007 at 2:58 pm

    dammit

  • 411. Blogging Heaven  |  July 16th, 2007 at 3:00 pm

Diverse topics I see. OK then - if Chennelle or Charley don’t win big brother then it will rpobably be one of the others (unless some new people come in which case it might be one of them).

Great blog this. Really good chat.

BH - I don’t watch it - I have heard that is that there is a fit northern girl on it who’s dream is to be the new posh spice and has shagged some girly looking bloke.

Girls like that are sweet - so long as its in their own interest to be sweet. I think you will find she is playing a game.

  • 430. Frudicus  |  July 16th, 2007 at 3:06 pm

422 - I picked RvP, Rosicky and Fabregas. Heres my predictions on next season for the gunners

    Prem - 1st
    Fa Cup - Final
    CL - Final
    Carling Cup - Final

Quite hopefull, but i got a feeling about this team, with Rosicky and Fabolous fab in our midfield, we got every opportunity!

Well Bloggin heaven, I generally feel that gentle nuzzling of his left earlobe is a good start, followed by a firm paddling of the buttocks with a used table tennis bat does the trick.

  • 433. cuntstablebill  |  July 16th, 2007 at 3:08 pm

i fink freddie will stay wot u fink? good squad player for 80 grand a week!

  • 434. TopCat.  |  July 16th, 2007 at 3:09 pm

    427.

The more you post the more I like you. I have to admit, I was a little concerned you might be after my crown as sexiest poster on the blog, then I looked in the mirror and realised that could never happen.

And besides, you have one joke, which you use over and over again. It was mildly amusing the first 7 or 8 times, now its just, well, uninteresting.

But I like you - so you can sleep well tonight.

  • 435. Frudicus  |  July 16th, 2007 at 3:10 pm

  • 437. TopCat.  |  July 16th, 2007 at 3:10 pm

  • 440. Frudicus  |  July 16th, 2007 at 3:14 pm

Now ive always found that the best way to a mans hole, is gently frolicking his nips, whilst caresing the ‘passage’ with a big bud of cotton wool, dipped in ketchup, for some extra flavoured lubrication, and just to get the blood pumping in his ‘vein’, sit on his face after a nice big dump, without wiping too!!

  • 441. Blogging Heaven  |  July 16th, 2007 at 3:14 pm

Thanks TopCat. I feel quite emotional now to be accepted at last and after such a short time as well. I am sorry that I haven’t yet been able to match the sheer range of your posts and the intellectual power that you bring to this site. I willendeavour to improve by following your splendid example. You don’t know how much your endorsement means to me …. really you don’t.

  • 442. Frudicus  |  July 16th, 2007 at 3:16 pm

Thats ok all, someone’s gotta believe in the team, apart from Wenger, anyone got a season ticket here???

    441.

Nothing to do with intellectual power. Everything to do with originality, or lack of it in your case.

Just try mixing it up a bit, you know, posting a few sarcastic posts, then a few sarcastic ones, then a few sarcastic ones…

My endorsement. Unless you pay me Im not endorsing anything of yours.

    Anyways - Im done.

Feel free to ridicule me in my absence - or even post as me if you want to knwo what it feels like to be a god amongst men.

I’ve been thinking! (practice makes perfect - hahaha!!) If we could have kept Titi and still signed Dudu maybe we would have been able to get KaKa and encouraged Zizi out of retirement. What a team would we have then - eh???

  • 463. DeiseGooner  |  July 16th, 2007 at 3:42 pm

No Frudicus , its the theme song from the cartoon , you nipplehead

  • 464. Dick (aka Willy)  |  July 16th, 2007 at 3:43 pm

So, I see we’re not the only ones Thierry walked out on…

Although Henry is a great player and someone who—regardless of the circumstances he left under—will be remembered as an Arsenal great until the end of time, it does raise a few questions and lend some weight to claims emanating from the French squad a few years ago about how Henry was causing severe unrest amongst the camp due to his unfathomable “selfishness”.

Can’t really judge him as we don’t know exactly what’s gone on, but it does seem a bit extreme from Henry who must have woke up one morning and thought, “I know… new club, new wife! Aurevoir, Claire, you whithered English rose.”

  • 465. Blogging Heaven  |  July 16th, 2007 at 3:45 pm

    458. Good thinking TH14 aka Fab4. Looks like we are the only ones taking this seriously everyone else is messing about with big bruv and things. • 468. Frudicus  |  July 16th, 2007 at 3:47 pm

No player is ever bigger than the club he plays for, which henry thought he was. Good riddance! (said with a lump in the throat) Would like to see how his big ego gets on at barcelona, playing with the player that beat him to world player of the year, twice!! Now hes gone we’ll win the champions league, which is why he left, that will be a good bit of payback seeing as he turned his back on us, the prick!

  • 469. Blogging Heaven  |  July 16th, 2007 at 3:47 pm

  • 477. TH14 aka Fab4  |  July 16th, 2007 at 3:52 pm

BH how do you make the blog even bigger than it is my monitor is a 19″

  • 478. Frudicus  |  July 16th, 2007 at 3:53 pm

I dont want a fuckin chavs player, they can keep him, wenger will work some magic before transfer window closes, wait and see! Anyways, why does no one think Mccarthy is a good buy, hes a good allround player, with good ability, will defo make a difference

  • 479. Geekov  |  July 16th, 2007 at 3:54 pm

There was a report a few months back, just before DD left of his own accord and not kicked out at all, honest, well, he was setting up a few deals in South America.

So, he either has a massive coke habit or we can expect a few south american players to be shipped over in cattle trucks and the like.

Why are we even going on about henry?

  • 480. Blogging Heaven  |  July 16th, 2007 at 3:54 pm

472 AFIF . Yeah ron said they were on their way but they were posted to us and haven’t arrived yet because of the strike so they’ll be late according to rons friend.

  • 481. DeiseGooner  |  July 16th, 2007 at 3:57 pm

DD hasnt actually been sacked, its all a cover story. Hes in Rio where he has setup a new company that will own all the rights to every south american player, except Baptista.

  • 482. Blogging Heaven  |  July 16th, 2007 at 3:58 pm

477 - Bugger hadn’t thought of that TH14 aka Fab4 . Where’s TopCat when you need him? - he would know being almost god like and sexier than anyone else.

  • 483. ron  |  July 16th, 2007 at 3:59 pm

geekov, it turns out they werent letters in the traditional sense, more emails & the like. My mate is actually working for the FBI & they got hold off some by ‘accident’!!

he was actually emailing some dirrrty bitch that likes it in the ‘arse n all’ & the sun got word of this & thought they sell a few extra copies & get a bit a free advertisement (maybe promote sales in liverpool) if they altered the story a tad.

  • 484. DeiseGooner  |  July 16th, 2007 at 3:59 pm

  • 549. Brian  |  July 16th, 2007 at 4:42 pm

Geekov shut your face. It is a fact that at the moment this arsenal side is weak and I’m way smarter than you so its best not to start an argument because you will surely lose.

  • 550. mr serge  |  July 16th, 2007 at 4:42 pm

  • 557. TH14 aka Fab4  |  July 16th, 2007 at 4:47 pm

I think that we would win the champions league if we signed Lucio, how much would Bayern want for Lucio???

  • 558. ron 89739-21812  |  July 16th, 2007 at 4:48 pm

dont worry about brian geekov he professed ignorance, as of something outside of his bailiwick!!!

i saw flights for £350 but with a 2 hr stop over in atlanta.

also brian, can u please confirm to these ppl, especially rural, that i am beautiful & get lots of ladies?

  • 559. mr serge  |  July 16th, 2007 at 4:49 pm

lucio has a 12 mill get out clause

  • 560. TH14 aka Fab4  |  July 16th, 2007 at 4:49 pm

If lucio is good at attacking we should put him up front he’s bloody wasted at CB!

  • 561. TH14 aka Fab4  |  July 16th, 2007 at 4:50 pm

And he can head the ball- we’ve found Henrys replacement

  • 562. mr serge  |  July 16th, 2007 at 4:52 pm

    560 lol i like it

  • 563. Brian  |  July 16th, 2007 at 4:53 pm

Serge i think it is weak in relation to the Man u, Chelsea and Liverpool. If Arsenal make a bad start to the season I dread to think what would happen as confidence is very important to young players. However if they win the first five or six on the trot you never know what could happen. But overall i think that with the current squad, fourth place in the prem would be a good achievement.

  • 564. mr serge  |  July 16th, 2007 at 4:53 pm

although i mean he attacks the ball if its a 50-50 rather than wait for the defender to get it and try to tackle him, big strong guy that lucio

  • 565. Brian  |  July 16th, 2007 at 4:56 pm

Is that £350 with aer lingus?

And just to cnfirm to any doubters out there, Ron is a devilishly handsome chap.

  • 566. Geekov  |  July 16th, 2007 at 4:57 pm

This Lucio fella you talk of. He wouldn’t be the really dodgy defender from Brazil who ‘plays’ fro bayern would he? You know, the one who instead of doing his main job; defending, likes to piss about down the other end of the pitch as if he were some sort of frustrated striker?

    Er, thought so.

And Brian, don’t get me started there fella. As it is a fact that Ronaldo had a one off last year, United were oh soo effin lucky with injuries to such an extent that they all started crying like babies after AC Milan humiliated them and blubbed about having TWO plyers out injured! Ha bleedin Ha!

As well as that you hav Scholes, Giggs, Vidic, Evra even dopey Rio have great seasons. Hardly likely to happen again, well, not all of em.

Facts? You cant handle the facts, you are no fact handling type person that is obvious, now move on.

  • 567. ron 89739-21812  |  July 16th, 2007 at 5:00 pm

no brian, it was using travelsupermarket.com, cant mind the name of the company, but u’ll see it.

    post 565, never a truer word spoken…

    best post ever.

  • 568. mr serge  |  July 16th, 2007 at 5:01 pm

    brian

last year man utd sold ruud and bought carrick and they went from nowhere in 3 seasons to winning the title, and a lot of their fans thought they had got weaker obviously they did not,
we don’t need to add wholesale changes to our side to compete arsene is adding to the areas were we need to, i think a lot of the fans think that we need to spend lots to catch up, but new players need time to adjust watch liverpool have a really poor start.

  • 569. Brian  |  July 16th, 2007 at 5:01 pm

Geekov get a grip. I know you are jealous of our great club but your comments make no sense whatsoever

  • 570. TH14 aka Fab4  |  July 16th, 2007 at 5:04 pm

mr serge i was just messin

  • 571. mr serge  |  July 16th, 2007 at 5:04 pm

plus nobody has the young talent we have nobody

  • 572. Geekov  |  July 16th, 2007 at 5:04 pm

Consistency is what we missed last year, consistency that can be achieved by; keeping the squad together, younger players developing and new signings.

Looking at the squad, the GKs and defece are sorted, as is central midfield, we need cover on the flanks and possibly another front person.

IF United had a few injuries, they’d be relying on Smith, O’Shea, Fletcher and Silvestre! hardly gonna make you overly confident is it? I think 3rd place for United would be an achievement next season, no, really.

  • 573. mr serge  |  July 16th, 2007 at 5:04 pm

    570
    i know mate

  • 574. ron 89739-21812  |  July 16th, 2007 at 5:05 pm

  • 575. mr serge  |  July 16th, 2007 at 5:06 pm

united were very lucky last season i can’t see them retaining the title

  • 576. Brian  |  July 16th, 2007 at 5:07 pm

Geekov you are a laugh and a half

  • 577. TopCat  |  July 16th, 2007 at 5:07 pm

    ..

i personally thought Real Madrid were luckier but i heard they dont play in the english league.

  • 578. WillyG  |  July 16th, 2007 at 5:09 pm

Is Ljunberg injured coz he is not with the Arsenal squad for the pre season tour in Austria

  • 579. Geekov  |  July 16th, 2007 at 5:10 pm

Arsenal create a shit load of chances. Thats a scientific fact that laboratory research bears out.

So, we have signed a sniffer outter of goals; a poacher-cum-goalhanger. We haven’t had that type of player since Wrighty left, we didn’t really miss that coz of the genius of henry, now he’s gone, and seeing the ammount of chances we missed last season, then sorting that position out seems logical to me captain.

We have also got top cover across the back. We have cesc, Denilson, Diaby, Gilberto & Flamini (the French Romford Pele?) in midfield. So, a wide merchant and we are going plaecs baby.

Shit, how fucking upbeat was that? Weird.

  • 580. Brian  |  July 16th, 2007 at 5:10 pm

I would like to make it clear that I have no problem with Arsenal. I am just giving my opinions. I am not here to offend anyone but saying that we are going to finish third is just plain stupid

  • 581. mr serge  |  July 16th, 2007 at 5:11 pm

  • 592. Random Gooner new to this blog, honest guv, its me 1st time.  |  July 16th, 2007 at 5:18 pm

United don’t posses a natural finisher, last season they relied on Ronaldo having a once in a lifetime season (never again!) Rooney was poor, yet again, but he gets all the hype. IF you can get teves, bearing in mind that there could be major repercussions, he is a little work horse, but as he proved last night in the Copa Final, he can be pretty anonymous too. Plus as ron the prophet so erm, prophetically stated, he and Rooney won’t be a good front 2.

  • 593. Brian  |  July 16th, 2007 at 5:19 pm

Could someone please wrote out the Arsenal starting eleven for next season and the cover they have.

  • 594. Samuel  |  July 16th, 2007 at 5:20 pm

IF United had a few injuries, they’d be relying on Smith, O’Shea, Fletcher and Silvestre! hardly gonna make you overly confident is it? I think 3rd place for United would be an achievement next season, no, really.
    ———
Thank you. If Gerrard, Carragher, Kuyt and Torres come out injured, Liverpool will have a Uefa Cup side.
Chelsea are the only squad that can compete as a squad and not a good first 11.

  • 595. Brian  |  July 16th, 2007 at 5:20 pm

    write sorry

  • 596. Geekov  |  July 16th, 2007 at 5:21 pm

Don’t get me wrong Brian, I think the title race will be very close this year, very close indeed. The only thing is though, United won’t have anything to do with it!

    WooHoo!!!

  • 597. Mos  |  July 16th, 2007 at 5:22 pm

    for fuck’s sake!

  • 602. Samuel  |  July 16th, 2007 at 5:24 pm

Tevez was shit for the first half of last season. Too cold maybe? Didn’t score till like March or something did he? If he could play like that, I’d be happy.
    Next season, realistically:
    1. Chelsea
    2. Arsenal
    3. Man United
4/5. Spurs/Liverpool (Either order. Neither’s spending worries me.)

I’m extremely confident I just can’t believe you attitude. Your really are thick!

  • 608. Geekov  |  July 16th, 2007 at 5:30 pm

So Brian, just say you get injuries to, er, Vidic, Rio and Evra….Whose the replacements for them then?

And don’t say Heinze as he’s off.

  • 609. Geekov  |  July 16th, 2007 at 5:35 pm

Yep! deffo gettinj to you, you are starting to feel the creeping nagging doubt that last season was just a flukey one off, never to be repeated!

You know it, we know it. Let’s stop all this pretence fella.

Come on man, wake up will ya!!!!

  • 610. Brian  |  July 16th, 2007 at 5:36 pm

CB - Rio, Vidic, Heinze, Silvestre, Brown, Pique, Evans

  • 611. Geekov  |  July 16th, 2007 at 5:36 pm

    My work here is complete.

Night all, anyone got any Nightall?

  • 612. Geekov  |  July 16th, 2007 at 5:39 pm

So you’d be left with Silvestre and Brown??? As Heinze and Pique are off.

    Oh dear.

Why the delay? Did you need to check your United pop up book or something? Dontcha know your team that well?

    Poor show.

  • 613. WillyG  |  July 16th, 2007 at 5:40 pm

I think the only way Arsenal will sign a new player is if Reyes and Ljunberg leave both this summer…..but if this Palacio rumour is true(till now nothing has been denied nor confirmed) then it will be Eduardo mostly on the wing

  • 614. Geekov  |  July 16th, 2007 at 5:40 pm

Only joking Brian, no offence, well not much.

That is deffo it, I am off.

  • 615. Brian  |  July 16th, 2007 at 5:40 pm

    Get a grip faggot

  • 616. Chocolicious  |  July 16th, 2007 at 5:41 pm

    606.

You forgot to add Gilberto to the CB list also

  • 617. Columbo Mavis  |  July 16th, 2007 at 5:42 pm

Choco - I think he’s best left off that list.

  • 618. Chocolicious  |  July 16th, 2007 at 5:43 pm

I hear ya but he did a capable job and AW does consider him an option. Also the whole squad was not really motivated after the losses to compltely kill off our season, when we were going for 4 trophies then suddenly nothing!

  • 619. Chocolicious  |  July 16th, 2007 at 5:44 pm

Myles Palmer said it best when he said the rest of those games were just preseason games where we almost finish 3rd with a very injury hit and young squad but failed oonly on the last day!

  • 620. Geekov  |  July 16th, 2007 at 5:50 pm

OK Brian, thought you might actually be sound, but no, you’re a clueless glory hunting fuckwit.

Seeing as how there’s enough of them who support my team, don’t really see the point of having to deal with some United Glory Hunter.

So, fuck off and support your local team Plastic.

  • 621. Geekov  |  July 16th, 2007 at 5:51 pm

    Harsh but true.

    ta ta!

  • 622. Columbo Mavis  |  July 16th, 2007 at 5:52 pm

I thought he was awful at CB in that PSV game. He did better at Bolton..

  • 623. Geekov  |  July 16th, 2007 at 5:54 pm

Mavis; Gilberto should NEVER be used at CB again. Bearing in mind we have good cover, I really don’t see the logic in putting him there.

  • 624. Columbo Mavis  |  July 16th, 2007 at 5:55 pm

Geekov - that’s what I’m saying. I actually thought it pretty strange that he was put there last season, especially as Djorou was available for the PSV match.

  • 625. Geekov  |  July 16th, 2007 at 5:57 pm

Yep, it was a strange one. Just like playing Song at CB in Saturdays pre-season! Say it aint so!

  • 626. Hugh Janus  |  July 16th, 2007 at 5:59 pm

Choco…. notice you haven’t been posting much lately……you have been busy serlling IT companies in Somerset, I presume/

  • 627. Brian  |  July 16th, 2007 at 6:04 pm

You are the plastic fuckwit Gekov. I know more about my club and have have been to more games than you. You are an asshole who hides behind the annonymity of an internet blog talking crap. At least I give good accurate views on a subject whereas you give pointless slurs which have no solid reasoning.

Now go fuck off back to your little computer and only come back when you have something thoughtful or decent to say.

“I know more about my club and have have been to more games than you” Ha ha ha!! How fucking old are you? 12? My dad’s bigger than your dad!

I was having a joke and you resort to homophobic insults, very mature of you.

But please, don’t let me stop you from dispensing your unique football knowledge. Erm, wait a minute, wheh exactly did you post anything interesting, intelligent? Oh thats it, you called us all losers for supporting Arsenal, how silly of me to forget.
And you are on a fucking Arsenal site and get upset when people take the piss out of your team??

But hey, it is YOUR team innit? Coz you’re a Mancunian aren’t you?

oops, my mistake. And you know for a fact that you went to more games than me, when you don’t fucking know me, you joker.
And as for using anonymity to insult fella. Hello!!! It was YOU who started with the fucking insults.

Geeez, you don’t really get this shit do you?

There shall in that time be rumours of things going astray, erm, and there shall be a great confusion as to where things really are, and nobody will really know where lieth those little things wi-with the sort of raffia-work base, that has an attachment. At that time, a friend shall lose his friends hammer, and the young shall not know where lieth the things possessed by their fathers that their fathers put there only just the night before, about eight O’clock.

  • 639. Anthony B  |  July 16th, 2007 at 7:01 pm

    Palacio is the new Batistuta
although i have rather large doubts that he’ll sign for us. He just doesnt smell right..

  • 640. .  |  July 16th, 2007 at 7:01 pm

Shut the fuck up you started it….

  • 641. RIP Respects_Highbury  |  July 16th, 2007 at 7:11 pm

I got this from the boca j website trying to fish for info about Palacio
. when i read it i was laughing my man tits offf

Arsenal fans in London are calling radio stations pleading for Arsene Wenger not to sell up and coming midfielder Alexander Song to Boca Juniors. Aparently a cash plus player deal is being sorted out at this very moment.
Palacio is in London for a medical and Boca have flown their own doctors into London to conduct a medical on Song.

The deal in total is worth 14 million pounds.

A fan interviewed outside the Emirates Stadium said “After everything that Wenger has said about bring through younger players it would leave a bitter taste in the mouth if he loses Song and does for phalacio”

  • 642. Chelsea Fan  |  July 16th, 2007 at 7:15 pm

    546. Frudicus | July 16th, 2007 at 4:41 pm

Frudicus - You just showed how fucking sick you are. Your own team is deep fucking shit and you want to come to a chelsea blog to waste our time. Get a life man. Stop being fucking jealous. You’re not going to play champions league for the next few seasons. Realise it and go fucking die.

  • 643. .  |  July 16th, 2007 at 7:18 pm

    Chelsea tool:

£300M and a carling cup. what cunts you your manager and fans are. still no cl even though you claim to have the best players that money can buy lets see how you fare against us this season chav punks.

  • 644. Dave  |  July 16th, 2007 at 7:45 pm

Wenger is already in Austria with our whole fucking youth team so there is nobody who could arrange the Palacio deal thus it can’t be true. He said on Saturday that he will sign nobody else cause he doesn’t feel the need to do so (stubborn….). Just think about it, it wouldn’t make sense at all for him to sign a 6th striker. Claiming on the homepage that we can fight for the title is a massive pretension and lacks any sense of reality. He has failed to strenghten the team in the right positions and even if he signs somebody before September 1, that person would have first to adapt to our style of play which usually takes some time. Tevez would have been the best signing he could have made. Tevez is a powerful and dynamic Rooney kind of player, exactly what we don’t have at all in our squad but no he let Fergie win the battle for him.

  • 645. Samuel  |  July 16th, 2007 at 8:15 pm

Grimandi and Friar who set up the other four transfers this summer didn’t go to Austria. Palacio would be the fifth striker in the squad (Walcott = Winger) in a team that will lose Ade to the ANC and have two unproven in the Premiership. It’s not that absurd. Has anyone in north London seen anyone spouting a stupid ass pony tail?
Wenger was seen in an Italian spa and at Wimbledon the week we saw Eduardo come in. I think it’s not that hard to see a player sign without no Dein or Wenger away, we are possibly the most adept business in English football (well, we haven’t been raided today but instead had our chairman come out, unlike the other big four, and say we know how to pay off our debt) and we can sign players quite easily.
Also, Wenger saying something about transfers never means anything until he says “We have bought (x)” or “We have sold (x)”. I think Eduardo is proof enough that we work in extremely mysterious ways. We’ve been burned plenty a times before, we don’t want to be again. I genuinely believe more player(s) will come, just maybe after Reyes has gone. Wenger said “At the moment” - he is waiting till we have the Reyes money in the bank to spend it.

  • 646. Samuel  |  July 16th, 2007 at 8:20 pm

Also, Tevez would be great, but ‘ideal’? United are being rung through the shitter, Kia Wusshisname has been arrested, Uefa could step in at any second (and they would have if it was us and not teh all conquering United) and instead we could buy players without risks like points deductions, fines or court hearings. Palacio seems to be as good, half the price and lesser trouble.

  • 647. arsene wenger  |  July 16th, 2007 at 8:37 pm

  • 649. arsene wenger  |  July 16th, 2007 at 8:44 pm

why is eveyone worried about song leaving hes shite plus we have young and good players that can play central mid
chill this grimandi fella is clever

  • 650. arsene wenger  |  July 16th, 2007 at 8:44 pm

does anyone have any thing to say about my comment

  • 651. Samuel  |  July 16th, 2007 at 8:46 pm

647/8 - If he isn’t good enough for a Uefa Cup team, why the fuck would he be worth the money at one of the best teams in the world? He is British so he will be wildly over priced (Rafa said this week Crouch for 20 million!!! 20 million!!!) and he will never be a world beater. There is a reason Theo went to the world cup and defoe didn’t. Because he isn’t better than any of our youth players.

  • 652. George Costanza  |  July 16th, 2007 at 8:48 pm

This Palacio thing is gathering momentum, but it all comes from that Boca blog which may be bullshit. An Argentinian supporters blog written in ENGLISH, seems strange to say the least ?

Anyway, has anyone actually seen him play - if we are going to lash out 15M then at least lets do it for a bit of class. Never even heard of him, let alone seen him though - he must be decent if Barca were goona go to 14.9M for him though surely.

Latest update from that blog says that the fans are protesting over his sale, and are threatening to boycott home games. Some fans though will be at the airport when he gets his flight to London on Tuesday?

He’s due for a medical tommorow, so if theres no news by end of Tuesday then I think we’ve all been had.

  • 653. .  |  July 16th, 2007 at 8:50 pm

Shit this Palacio rumour just keeps on coming dont it?

Will be funny when it dont happen.

  • 656. .  |  July 16th, 2007 at 8:54 pm

Saw a clip of him today George and Im sure youll like what I saw …quick decisive and attack minded with good shooting accuracy, he tends to go for hard to save angles and corners which is a good thing.

  • 657. .  |  July 16th, 2007 at 8:57 pm

The money is also inconsequential, if he does prove to be the real deal then Im sure well all consider it to be a pittance compared to Sheva(£30M) and Torres £20M As long as he can finish off those supreme attacking moves that we wasted last season Im sure well be chanting his name.

What info do you have on L.Modric` rumour? he can`t play in the Champions League if he joins in January(IF WE BEAT OUR OPPONENTS THAT IS) and if the deal is done for January why hasen`t it been confermed? about Palacio, again I don`t know much about him but by tomorrow we should know if he joins the club or not,as for that guy claiming that Song is involved in a swap deal surely ain`t true

  • 668. WillyG  |  July 16th, 2007 at 9:33 pm

Have you guys read ArsenalReview. He claims that Ljunberg did not make the trip to Austria and thinks he chould be off,Is Ljunberg injured at the moment?

  • 669. Gossip  |  July 16th, 2007 at 9:36 pm

Changing the subject girls, I can give you a bit of juicy gossip. I’m sure everyone and his dog knows that Henry & his wife have had an “amicable” separation after our former captain decided on pastures new in catalunia. This after he stated that he felt distabilised when the orange one, David Dein was dismissed and that he wasn’t sure Wenger would be there beyond next season.

Yesterday, the story broke that “after a string of rows” the Henry’s have ended their marraige, he moved into a hotel and has been “acting like a single man” while Nicole “did not want to leave London” (Daily Mirror). Well, as much as all of the above may have an element of truth in it, the real reason is his missus has allegedly not been so innocent in all of this by arranging her own away fixtures. Thierry, by all accounts is devasted and despite us hearing all his reasons for leaving, the real reason is that he needed a clean break from his wife & took the option of moving to Barca.

  • 670. Samuel  |  July 16th, 2007 at 9:42 pm

“Too many reputations media wise are at stake for this to be a hoax”

Because so many people have lost their jobs talking about transfer rumours. I know it came from the blog but lots of places I’ve seen people talking about Boca themselves and not the blog. I’d like to see him come and be a success - the ponytail will have defenders laughing too hard to remember to tackle him. The rumour is picking up steam. People are really going for it this time, not like Anelka and Martins that had no belief it really could happen. Wait till Tuesday? Wenger won’t be in the country but it doesn’t mean it won’t happen. He could fly back for the day.

I think Modric is being lined up as the long term Fabregas replacement, in fact I think his transfer could have been planned a year early. Although I think he will stay another couple of years, he has already started flirting with Spain’s big teams and next season a line up of Gilberto/Cesc/Diaby/Denilson/Modric will be formidable. After that, only a long term replacement for Gilberto when he retires (one of the kids?) and we will have a great centre of midfield for the next 10 years.

  • 671. WillyG  |  July 16th, 2007 at 9:50 pm

Everyone thought Ribery was a sure thing. What makes this Modric rumour any different?

  • 672. Samuel  |  July 16th, 2007 at 9:53 pm

Henry was a legend when he was here, but he’s not, so fuck what’s going on with his marriage or his next stage of his career, until we play and beat barca.

The Modric rumour has him priced at 10 million and not 12. Palacio for 14.5 million (and bizarrely, Wenger’s favourite Alexandre Song). Reyes will have to go for 10+ if we are to spend this much (not even including the possible di Maria transfer - another 3 or 4 million?). Ljungberg is injured or going - and if he is injured he really is proving a liability and not the Scholes-esque comeback we are hoping for.

I personally don’t believe we should judge Song the way we judge first team players. He is currently 7th in line for midfield, maybe 8th or 9th if Djorou or Toure could start there before him. He is no more than a youth player we don’t know will start more than 10 games for Arsenal. I say send him away on loan again to a lesser premiership team like Charlton last season - he learnt a lot and could still learn a lot more. From what I saw of him, he was useless as a DM, but had a great eye for a pass and was often instrumental in all of Charlton’s attacking play.

  • 673. *_Respects Highbury  |  July 16th, 2007 at 9:55 pm

Actually Tubes, I desisted from posting on the blog as it seems all the intelligent posters seem to have refrained from posting (why does Amos never post anymore? LD?), and we are now left with the dross residue. Exceptions abound of course: Rural, Deise, TC most of the time and Mavis.

However, discount these contributors and you are left with a comcial collection of infertile trash. The innumerable contributions are many. It seems Arsenal FC seems to have ingressed a group of school children, probably all given birth to by Anil Nair?

  • 674. Samuel  |  July 16th, 2007 at 10:01 pm

WillyG - I think it’s because we have linked up with Zagreb this summer as opposed to just Wenger praising a player. “Inside sources” from Zagreb are being cited as opposed to the papers running with nothing, but it still seems like little to cling to. There was no evidence of us ever going for Ribery - especially with Wenger seemingly knowing that his friend Henry was to go long before the transfer market opened, all those stories saying the likes of Ribery and Treziguet coming to appease Thierry were just downright false. There was no evidence of Eduardo coming but they seem to think that if their best players are to leave, and they surely have to (they don’t have the same economic ability of a premiership team) then they are wanting the best for the players they created as superstars. All over Europe Eduardo was wanted but they thought that Arsenal was the best place for him to become the great player he is supposed to come.

  • 675. Samuel  |  July 16th, 2007 at 10:06 pm

Respects: Hopefully Arsenal start doing extremely well next season so the likes of Gelbs can either kill over and die/forgive Wenger and gunnerblog can go back to being a place based around the intelligent discussion of Arsenal.

There is a reason it’s called ’silly season’ though.

  • 676. kingsley  |  July 16th, 2007 at 10:18 pm

Lucio guy reminds me of Kaka and just because of his vest!!!
And he takes free kicks as well as anyone
i would add Lucio to our squad no bother and i’d make sure he gets #14!

  • 678. TH14 aka Fab4  |  July 16th, 2007 at 10:29 pm

i meant Lucio reminds me of kaka and NOT just because of his vest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 679. Samuel  |  July 16th, 2007 at 10:32 pm

I am pretty certain Lucio is a central defender. A good one too, would be excited to see the look on Gallas’ face when the signing he wanted keeps him on the bench if he comes.
As a Brazilian I can understand him being good at free kicks, this is things they all know but for him to be a #14/Kaka-esque player you must be talking about someone else. As far as I know, we are linked to the only Lucio I know, the 2004 world cup winning defender at Bayern.

  • 680. kingsley  |  July 16th, 2007 at 10:39 pm

do u have an actual link sammuel? and yes i meant the defender lucio

  • 681. Samuel  |  July 16th, 2007 at 11:08 pm

I don’t have a link, I thought it was pure speculation. You asked what we thought so I told you. It seems strange that we’d buy him but I would really like to see it happen. Gallas and Toure are world class sure, but they don’t suit each other. Lucio/Toure seems a better match and to have Gallas/Toure/Lucio/Djorou/Senderos as options for the back would be as good as Terry/Carvalho/Ben Haim/Alex and we would be genuinely competeting as our defending let us down compared to Chelsea (same goals scored). With Eduardo and possibly Palacio, attached to the billions of wasted chances and a formidable defence, our squad seems fluid and interchangable - and extremely exciting.
I’m not saying Lucio is coming, Sagna could be enough. And Bayern have already up and sold large parts of their squad already (Would Lucio also leave? They didn’t make Champions League but would they let him go?).
The possible looks better than most squads in around the world:
    Lehmann
    Sagna Toure Lucio Clichy
    Fabregas Gilberto Rosicky
    Van Persie Palacio Eduardo
    (Fabianski)
    (Eboue, Djorou, Gallas, Flamini)
    (Hleb/Walcott, Denilson, Diaby, Ljungberg/di Maria)
    (Ade, Bendtner, Walcott)

I believe that Wenger says “At the moment” doesn’t mean that Saturday. I believe it means, next week we are selling Reyes and next week Copa America will be over. I really am getting excited about next season, but I severely believe Lucio won’t be started it in the premiership even if he’d be great in an Arsenal shirt.

@682: I knew it was but it’s still not funny. Drogba destroyed Lucio in the CL two seasons before when Bayern played against Chelsea. Much like Senderos who has still not recovered from facing him.

Ron why the fuck do you come on here anyway and start having imaginary conversations with yourself? Do you think anybody gives a fuck about your lame-ass? Even your mum doesn’t give 2 hoots about you. Unless it’s for a quick blow-job and 20 Bensons…I reckon we won’t get Palacio although he would be great for us. I sincerely hope AW was kidding when he said there would be no more signings coming in? Mind…season’s unpredictable. Never know what’s gonna happen…

  • 715. Marcus  |  July 17th, 2007 at 2:41 am

Same shit from Wenger, different season. dear oh fucking dear. where to start with the shit? Papa Smurf Wenger reckons his precious babies can manage to beat grown men on a diet of fruit loops, haribo peach sours and cheesy cream puffs. mind you can hardly blame the iditots. after all when they see Papa smurf Wenger and grandpaa hill-wood trying to sign players by exchanging sherbert lollipops wot else can they do? What a complete joke. this season will be pure comedy gold. a shockingly shit team last season has just got worse. and as usual, papa smurf Wenger reckons he can wipe the stinky foul smell of baby-poo from Pampers nappies all by himself. joke. So let me see…Henry goes in exchange for 6 sour berries and a packet of baby ruskers biscuits. he’s off to get some protein in his spanish meat. got fed up of wiping the shit from the baby bottoms. even cesc is wising up to it all and next summer he’ll be munching on a fat paella and laughing his arse off at babies trying to crawl their way to 4th plce. 4th is the new 1st at Arsenal these days eh? shall we have street parades if we come 4th again? henry out. reyes out. baptista out. 3 international players with pedigree. so who comes in? as usual pap Smurf had to get in his favourite kiddie-buy by signing some nursery wonder to go with SUNU. another 4 liquorice lollipops and a bag of cola bottles for some norwegian novice. a joke polish goalie who is worse than kuzcak at manure. who else? um….um…oh yeah that super-super-class turd SAGNA. wow. stop press. then the ultimate replacement for Henry: DUDU! Lol. pathetic and fucking finished. lets get one thing straight: we have ZERO chance of winning the league for the 4th year running. so wot should the board do in light of this? i know: reward AW with a fat new pay-rise! brilliant! that’ll stop the joke our club has become. maybe if papa smurf Wenger would put a few bags of candy apples behind the goal-line then perhaps these overpaid cunts would start scoring and looking like a decent football team. mind you akinbayor would still fucking miss. i went barnet the other night and he was by FAR the most shit player on the pitch. in fact…there were Barnet players that looked way more quality than him. with a better first touch n all. yet again next season these kiddies will lose to shit teams and get bullied off the ball and on it by boltons and blackburns. i

come to a conclusions: AW does not ever sign big super-class players simply cos he does not know how to handle huge players. prefers to develop them so they can stay loyal to him. but think about it. the minute a player becomes big-time, he leaves. vieira and th14 spring to mind. bergkamp was not his signing though he stayed. if AW started signing big players then he would actually be under pressure to deliver trophies. and we all know deep down he’s shit under rpessure. Uefa cup final? choked. CL ifnal? choked. semis of the CL vs Villareal? choked and got dam lucky. CL quarters vs Chav? choked. every CL campaign under him? choked. united’s treble season? choked in the league annd cup. could go on. AW prefers to sign nobodies cos then when the team get dicked on he can have the excuse that he ‘has a young team compared to the others.’ he cannot handle superstar players and superstar egos the way fergie and mourinho can. cos he is simply too soft. they would walk all over him. look at cesc saying as he wants every fucking week. he’s staying? yay! didn’t the stinky little cunt sign an 8-year sweeties deal not so long ago? count for jack does it? thank u. so AW will never sign a star player. only ever did it once with reyes and reyes walked all over him and got his move he wanted. proof.
AW will therefore continue signing kiddies and putting haribo strawberry-clause bonuses into their contracts and letting them drinkg breast-milk after they train instead. so he can always have an excuse for fucking up. until he signs a big fucking player for this team then guess wot?

    we’re in deep DUDU! Lol…joke.

  • 716. Rose-Tinted Bed Wetter  |  July 17th, 2007 at 2:54 am

Is there any truth to the Palacio signing? It’s being sporadically reported on newsnow, and he’s supposedly in London, but wtf? If it’s true, It smells like a panic buy (Eduardo and Palacio seem to play alike), but who’s Wenger trying to placate? Henry’s gone already. Cesc can’t be that important that he’s going to go against 10 years of shopping habit. He does has very nice hair, though. With him, Eduardo and Sagna in the side, we’ll have the spunkiest team in England. Who’s our new head scout? Vidal Sassoon?

Luka Modric sounds like a Wenger buy, by the way. If we’ve been lacking anything, it’s an obscure East European creative central midfielder. We’ll probably push him out on the wings and abuse him when he doesn’t live up to Pires/Parlour/Ljungberg/Reyes etc.

  • 737. Blogging Heaven  |  July 17th, 2007 at 8:42 am

Ok then perhaps the issue of new players is a bit challenging. Should we talk about wingers - do we need them? if so what size? is it better to have a pair of wingers? and do we need a bigger team bus (that last point was raised by Deisegooner to give him credit).

  • 755. DeiseGooner  |  July 17th, 2007 at 9:04 am

I thought they were seagulls Hugh ? They couldnt hold a candle to ELO though.

  • 756. Blogging Heaven  |  July 17th, 2007 at 9:05 am

Post #751 great point Hugh. Would they fit on the new team bus?

Post#750. Wouldn’t a wet suit restrict hsi movement a little? then I suppose running down the wing holding an umbrella could affect his balance. Tough one that.

  • 757. Ruralgoon  |  July 17th, 2007 at 9:07 am

    Morning all!

I see Marcus escaped from his padded cell again…. they really ought to medicate him more extremely overnight :-)

Jermaaine Pennant proves the point that he just wasn’t intelligent enough to play for Arsenal.[again!]

The best bit about the last season was that of the teams that got promoted, two of them are within easy reach of me… Derby county and Brum [again] so I can be there lending my vocal encouragement to the boys!

  • 758. Blogging Heaven  |  July 17th, 2007 at 9:07 am

Post #754. Sound advice Friedicus. You would make a good agony aunt. Great input into this wonderful blog.

  • 759. Hugh Janus  |  July 17th, 2007 at 9:08 am

TC . Teams sorted & in the mix……As for matches, not gonna manage to get to any pre-seasons due to a hiccup in the cash flow department. Seem to be getting up when I can at the moment. Doesn’t help coaching kids football, the kids fixtures seem to clash with decent matches & I get fined by our local FA if I cancel them.
Reckon I’ll be @ a lot of midweekers this season…….musn’t grumble

  • 760. TopCat.  |  July 17th, 2007 at 9:08 am

    753.

There were 3 options, not 2.

Upset me? What kind of fragile human being do you think I am that I could ever get upset by some random person on a blog?

If anything, I don’t care - feel free to carry on all you like - but I wonder why you do what you do? I mean, unless I have wronged you in the past, or you are a bit weird in head, I cannot fathom why you would choose me of all people to attack with your quick witted jibes.

So I ask again, either be a man, and tell me straight up what your problem with me is, or stop the bitching.

    Simple.

  • 761. Blogging Heaven  |  July 17th, 2007 at 9:11 am

Jeez TopCat. You are so touchy. I haven’t said anything bad about you yet you are getting into me as tho I was Marcus or somebody.

I like you - you are wonderful ( I think Frudicus is getting a little jealous of us tho)

  • 762. TopCat.  |  July 17th, 2007 at 9:11 am

    759.

Maybe you can write to AFC and explain, they may re-arrange a few fixtures for you ; )

No plans to go to Emirates cup? Well least all the champions league games are midweekers - so you can get to them…

  • 763. TopCat.  |  July 17th, 2007 at 9:13 am

    Blogging Heaven,

As you seem incapable of answering a simple question, I will repeat it. Please don’t be so rude as to ignore my request for an answer, Im not being touchy, but you seem to be using that as a way of avoiding answering me.

I aprreciate that the wetsuit could restrict his movement, and make the twins itch a little bit, but hed be more aerodynamic! but with the umbrella he could put the ball in between his feet and do a mary poppins over the defence and score, so both got good points too, this is getting to be a difficult decision, dont you say??

  • 765. Hugh Janus  |  July 17th, 2007 at 9:14 am

TC - & hoping for a decent league cup run. I aint fussy. Seen some bloody good matches with the kids in , over the past few years.

    Welcopme back Bloggin Heaven.

Yes I managed to get a job lot of X marks and an array of f***in asterisks too.

    Morning all.

    God I’ve missed marcus.

  • 767. TopCat.  |  July 17th, 2007 at 9:17 am

    Morning Rural !!!

    How are you today?

Derby and Brum - so you will see us win at least 2 games this year !!

I checked my inbox - nothing from you - how am I supposed to lavish you with gifts until I know details?

So is the RLF ok with this? Or are you going to tell him you are going to a CSI convention or something?

  • 768. fc arsenal  |  July 17th, 2007 at 9:20 am

    Translation:
According to what I heard on TV, Palacio has been sold to Arsenal for 30 million dollars!

In England they believe it’s a done deal, which sucks, since we (Boca) will go to the Club’s World Championship with a very unsettled team.

On the other hand, with 30 million dollars we could buy 3 Riquelmes, so with that money we could buy Roman permanently.

  • 769. Geekov  |  July 17th, 2007 at 9:21 am

That whole palacio thing was hilarious, had loads of poeple fooled even though the ’source’ was a well dodgy well site that had suddently appeared out of nowhere. The fact the S*n and Evening Standard picked it up just goes to show how lazy football hacks are, given that they all just repeated the bogus site article practically verbatim.

AND still we got people thinking he’s still coming!

    Go figure.

  • 770. TopCat.  |  July 17th, 2007 at 9:24 am

    769.

Geekov - haven’t you thought that maybe, AW hacked into the site and posted the “bogus” message, to give the impression that we are not signing him, when actually, we are…..

Very sneaky Arsene, but Im on to you….

barazite - im not saying he wont be a great player, or that he will…

he isnt even in the first team yet, i know very little about him, as im sure u all dont

but he scores one goal in our first friendly against barnet & suddenly he is the next bergkamp!!!!

thats the sort of mentality that kids from broken homes have…

That’s the point Ron you don’t go to games… …I have seen Barazite a couple of times and he looks to me one of the most promising players in the Youth Team… ….Wenger and Bergkamp were the ones who said that he was similar in style to Bergkamp.

  • 772. Blogging Heaven  |  July 17th, 2007 at 9:32 am

I get it TopCat - you are just fishing for more compliments aren’t you! I appreciate the importance of egos but I think anymore from me would be unhealthy.

Whats wrong with my posts? they seem well up to par for this blog (better than some if I might indulge in a little conceit!)

Lets stick to the footie — how about senderos/song/hleb are crap/brilliant - we haven’t done that for days !!!!

  • 773. Geekov  |  July 17th, 2007 at 9:33 am

Barazite will be bigger than Jesus!

And almost as good in the air too, probably.

  • 774. Frudicus  |  July 17th, 2007 at 9:38 am

772 - I dont think SONG is that bad, he played well when he was on loan at charlton at last season, Hleb can either be brilliant, and then shite, too inconsistent for this team. Senderos looked good at first, but again too inconsistent! So the ones i would consider for this team, to maybe come on as a sub, is hleb and song!

  • 775. Blogging Heaven  |  July 17th, 2007 at 9:38 am

#764 Frudicus - that is a really well thought out point. I must say I really don’t know what is for the best - umbrella or wetsuit. I suppose in hot dry weather he could use the umbrella to provide some shade whereas the wet suit would have him perspiring freely.

You see how we can lift the level of this blog by considering such things rationally!

  • 776. Frudicus  |  July 17th, 2007 at 9:41 am

775 - I agree, quite an adult conversation we are having here, probably go with the umbrella, anyway i doubt hes coming to be honest, you know what aw is like.

  • 777. Blogging Heaven  |  July 17th, 2007 at 9:42 am

#773 -Barazite will be bigger than Jesus!

Clever stuff Geekov and as he can walk on water he won’t need a wet suit or an umbrella either ! ( I am running a little low on exclamation marks so excuse the lack of emphasis)

  • 778. Ruralgoon  |  July 17th, 2007 at 9:43 am

TC; Oops sorry! I didn’t manage to get hold of the laptop last night… I think the RLF had better be misinformed; CSI convention it is, then! ;-)

  • 779. Geekov  |  July 17th, 2007 at 9:43 am

Wenger waits on Modric Tue, Jul 17 2007 08:37

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been given first refusal on highly-rated Croatian midfielder Luka Modric.
Wenger asked about signing Modric when he landed his Dynamo Zagreb team-mate Eduardo Da Silva for £8.5million but he was told that Modric was not for sale despite the Emirates boss mentioning a fee of around £10million for the 21-year-old international.
Modric first caught Wenger’s attention playing in last season’s Champions League qualifier against the Gunners but Dynamo are determined to keep hold of him until the end of the season in a hope his value will raise even higher.

Modric is widely expected to play a key role when Croatia play England in a European Championship qualifier in November.

  • 782. ron  |  July 17th, 2007 at 9:47 am

gunner8, my point was ppl’s reaction to him as soon as he scored one goal in a meaningless game. i did say that he may be, but i couldnt judge as i hadnt seen him play enuff

my post was an attack on the ppl that form opinions over 90 mins, or cos off what someone else said, not on the player.

u may live close enuff to underhill to watch at your convenience, to be in a position to make your own opinion about him, but many others are not, but still do ‘jump on the bandwagon’.

anyhow, as i know very little about him & u do, could u please tell me more about his strengths & weaknesses?

  • 783. Blogging Heaven  |  July 17th, 2007 at 9:52 am

‘my post was an attack on the ppl that form opinions over 90 mins’

Yeh right ron - that’s far too long. If you can’t make you mind up after watching a minute or two on YouTube then you are never getting there.

783 - You cant judge a player over 5 minutes - or 90 for fucks sake. You dont see wenger look at a clip on you tube and think yeah, hes good. You need to watch a player over a few games, not minutes, you took your stupid pills this morning then??

  • 787. Frudicus  |  July 17th, 2007 at 9:59 am

    Correction

786 - what take an objective view by watching players for a few games or over a season or two(question mark) but everyone thinks eduardo is brilliant and no one has seen him (exclamation mark). I am not at all sure your revolutionary approach to making judgements will find much favour on this blog Frudicus - but hey I respect your opinion (exclamation mark)

(I might have to sign off soon I am running out of parantheses)

Keep up the standard that this blog has become accustomed to won’t you

  • 790. Frudicus  |  July 17th, 2007 at 10:08 am

789 - A few games, (read it propperly) SO your telling me that you can tell over a clip of a few minutes wether a player is amazing or not? You dont know what happened in the rest of the games they shown, he could have been worse than craptista, so YOU keep up the standard love!!

  • 791. ron  |  July 17th, 2007 at 10:09 am

789 - it would be more accurate if u said that everyone hopes he is lethal.

it seems u are the one taking the piss, while others are trying to raise the level…

  • 792. Frudicus  |  July 17th, 2007 at 10:10 am

Hear, is to listen to a sound or sounds.
Here, is a location that you are currently at.

So if you didn’t know, now you know.

  • 794. whitebuildings  |  July 17th, 2007 at 1:44 pm

Fuck me that’s a lot of comments. Song is one of those players that I think could go either way. I think maybe his development is stifled by being in the prescence of such a precocious group of youngsters. When he was on loan at Charlton he was their best player (in an admittedly weak team). Maybe he will flourish on a lesser stage?

  • 795. Gods Son  |  July 17th, 2007 at 4:37 pm

English Teacher:- Your a total tit. Firstly for correcting someone about something so anal and secondly for getting it wrong- hear hear is a contraction of an old phrase requiring people to listen to what the speaker has to say.

I really hope we sign bigger players. Our players are so little. In a fight, we’d lose.
