Benitez goes all Brent

0 guns July 5th, 2007

Maybe I’m just bitter.  Liverpool have signed Torres and Man United appear to be on the verge of snaring Tevez.  Meanwhile, as I pointed out yesterday, we’re probably still quite a bit worse off than we were last season.  Huzzah!

I can’t claim credit for the above pictoral observation, by the way - many thanks to Barnet Gooner.  I stole it from him.

In terms of Arsenal news… well, there isn’t much: Stan’s all Kranky, Manuel Almunia is so ashamed  at returning to training as third-choice that he has disguised himself as Vanilla Ice, and we’ve signed a bunch of players (but don’t get excited, they already play for us).

I’ve got to go before I get caught/sacked.

Eduardo’s song - it just has to be (to the MotD tune):

Du du, du du, du du, du du du
Du du, du du, du du
Du du, du du, du du, du du du
Du du, du du, du du………..

(A couple of extra du’s but I think they will be lost in translation)

Well, i don\t think the money used, is the solution to success. That`s for sure! Let`s hope the young kids have grown up this summer.
Let Fabregas score goals, Walcott give asists and Van Persie not be injured! That will be someting!!!

  • 24. mjc  |  July 5th, 2007 at 10:11 am

Can anyone explain why Man United would want another Rooney? Unless they want Tevez available as Rooney’s stunt double for the filming of Shrek 4….

Paycut to 90k a week? Has he earned that much playing at Atletico?

  • 29. kafka  |  July 5th, 2007 at 10:15 am

mjc, possible. of course, shrek 4 is fine, as long as he is working on the weekend.

  • 30. kafka  |  July 5th, 2007 at 10:17 am

dave, he was just putting a spin on it. what he said was that since he had better offers, but wanted to come to liverpool, “effectively” he took a pay cut.

i have to say, when he came into the league, i liked rafa a little, but since last season i have really begun to dislike his way of playing, even more than mourinho.

if the mirror is true then what a good piece of businss

  • 35. y-frontman  |  July 5th, 2007 at 10:25 am

Looks like Utd are in the process of wrapping up Tevez. Its on BBC now and they very rarely put up something outside of the gossip section unless its true! and for Measure Chealsea look to be getting Brazilian wonderkid Pato. Are we the only team not planning on strengthing? Call me stupid but I dont know why i just have a good feeling about next season despite all this! I’m about as excited about the season starting as I have been in a few years.

P.S. I read Fabregas may get VC as a thanks for the commitment gift. this would be a Disgrace. Toure should probably be Captain but at least Vice Captain. It would be an insult.

    P.P.S. on the song thing for Eduardo i was thinking more along the lines of De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da by Sting and the Police;

Du Du Du Du, Du Du Du Du
Is gona score a goal for you

  • 36. chzberga  |  July 5th, 2007 at 10:25 am

  • 38. Chocolicious  |  July 5th, 2007 at 10:30 am

Anyone see the story about the increase in turnover from 120mil to 200mil thanks to the new stadium thus allowing AW more funds for next season.

I really hope Man U dont get Tevez as my optimism for next season would decrease further. I am really not liking the Pizarro capture by Chelsea, the guy just plain knows how to score and they got him for free.

  • 39. Mos  |  July 5th, 2007 at 10:30 am

^^ you mean u agree with Tevez being okay as a stunt double for Rooney in Shrek 4? :)

  • 40. mr serge  |  July 5th, 2007 at 10:31 am

Man Ure sold ruud last season and did not replace him and won the title mainly due to the efforts of rooney and ronaldo we are not a million miles away from them but we do need to bring in 2 more players

  • 41. Chocolicious  |  July 5th, 2007 at 10:32 am

    24.
Although they are similar in stature and almost in playing style, Tevez is more of a striker than Rooney who likes to drop back, also Tevez is more of a natural goalscorer, either way Tevez could replace Rooney more than Rooney could replace Tevez as Carlos can do all Rooney can do but Rooney has not fully displayed natural goalscroing ability to me as of yet, but he damn close.

  • 42. Patthegooner  |  July 5th, 2007 at 10:32 am

    THe song has to be

Who needs Thierry when we got Dudu

  • 43. Shrek  |  July 5th, 2007 at 10:32 am

C’mon - I am not as ugly as Tevez! or Rooney for that matter!

  • 44. mr serge  |  July 5th, 2007 at 10:34 am

the other clubs around us have strengthened as so will we i am putting a nifty on us winning the title

  • 45. y-frontman  |  July 5th, 2007 at 10:34 am

Patthegooner I like it. Hope its true tho

  • 46. Chocolicious  |  July 5th, 2007 at 10:37 am

The more players you buy, the more players have to acclimatise to the new players, new surroundings ie team, country and players, manager thus its not always a recipe for instant success. Again ask Shevie…who would have thought that after spending 30mil on him, Shevie would perform so lacklustered

  • 47. Eamonn  |  July 5th, 2007 at 10:38 am

    Should hear yourselves

Bricking it at the metion of utd possibly signing a player.
Do we care. I thought this was a site dedicated to Arsenal.

BREAKING NEWS: ARSENAL AGREE A DEAL TO SIGN CARLOS TEVEZ AS SOON AS HE GETS BACK FROM COPA AMERICA AND PASSES A MEDICAL.

  • 49. lionar  |  July 5th, 2007 at 10:40 am

Hahahah, yeah I agree we should look at what we need not what others have, let them worry about us.
We will strengthen further, there are def more transfers on the way and I for one cnt wait to see; Ill admit I was freaked out at first but as far as Im concerned the sale of Henry shows we mean business this season and we exoect to win something.

  • 50. y-frontman  |  July 5th, 2007 at 10:42 am

It is a valid point. This time last season Chelsea had just wrapped up Ballack and shevchenko. Arguably the two best players in their positions in the world and people were conceding that chelsea were pretty much uncatchable. Man Utd Lost their top Striker and didnt really stengthin the squad in any notable way giving their current players more responsibility to step up. Anyone remember how it turned out. A lot of paralells there. It aint over till its over. or even begun to be more accurate!

  • 51. mr serge  |  July 5th, 2007 at 10:46 am

    exactly my point yfronts

  • 52. Little Dutch  |  July 5th, 2007 at 10:46 am

I agree with GS re: the capture of Torres. I mean, 26mill for a guy who has never finished in the top four scorers in la liga (when you take away penalties he lags further behind), who can’ty get into his national team starting XI, throw in the runaway Premiership success of other la liga marksmen Reyes, Baptista and Morientes, wow, I’m very jealous of Liverpool. I’m also really kjealus of Chelsea for snaring Shevchenko. What else have the newspapers said today, I don’t know what else I should be thinking.

  • 53. Chocolicious  |  July 5th, 2007 at 10:47 am

I dont believe Wenger would let Henry go if he was that important to the team.
I do think we need another centre back cover, not starter as Djourou is 3rd choice and a good one with a lot of upside but Senderous’s lack of pace is a weakness. He isnt at the level where he can read the game well enough to compnesate for that yet but he is towering in the air, which is a weakness in our other CB as they rarely attack the ball. Curtis Davies anyone? I am not overly over excited about Sagna covering our CB due to him not adding anything we dont have i.e. being short as well but I do like the fact he can cover both fullback positions esp. LB as I do not wanna rely on Armand alone(imagine clichy out for awhile) and I prefer Gallas in the middle forming a partnership with Toure(the second coming).

  • 54. lionar  |  July 5th, 2007 at 10:47 am

Exactly now lets all fuss over who were going to get next. It seems an almost certainty that we’ll be getting Sagna anyone think of a song for old bakari?
So I reckon that leaves one more signing possible two if were really lucky. Does anybody think we need a new defensive midfielder?
How tall is denilson he always looked a bit slight to me

  • 55. Gunner8  |  July 5th, 2007 at 10:47 am

  • 57. Hugh Janus  |  July 5th, 2007 at 10:48 am

    35. Dont expect Pato to be in the Prem for a couple of years due to fact of being 17 with no full caps. They will have to farm him out . As with Alex at PSV

  • 58. TH14 aka Fab4  |  July 5th, 2007 at 10:49 am

I think that a team which stays together for a while and gels with only a few additions is better than a team who just sign loads of players and i don’t think Chelsea will be as strong this season because their signings have not been who they want they just needed a player in a position and just signed the player that was free because they are shitting themselves incase Abramovic walks away one day and leaves them in loads of debt.

  • 59. Gunner8  |  July 5th, 2007 at 10:50 am

It will be interesting if the defence switches this season to man2man

Gallas stated last year that both he and Kolo are not suited to zonal marking… …what do you all think?

  • 60. Chocolicious  |  July 5th, 2007 at 10:52 am

I agree with the players palying together for a while and gelling, thats how Man U were so formidable in the 90s.
I have actually come around to wanting a winger to challenge the left side of our midfield.
We dont need a DM as Denilson and Song are cover for Gilberto as well as Diaby, although he is more attacking than the other two. Our centre mid is jampacked, hence Muamba being allowed to go as well as Flamini.

  • 61. y-frontman  |  July 5th, 2007 at 10:54 am

It would make sense but we all know that Arsene is a stubborn man which sometimes is great but other time frustrating as Hell. like his constant decision not to change his gameplan or throw on a sub before the 85th minute

  • 62. Gunner8  |  July 5th, 2007 at 10:55 am

He would make a donkey look acomadating y-frontman

Also throwing on 3rd cb in extra time… …we end up conceding nearly every time he does that

  • 63. Chocolicious  |  July 5th, 2007 at 10:56 am

AS long as you communicate then man to man is cool, i really dont like the fact we have such sort fb as we get exposed routinely by that fact, they havent compensated by improving their positioning and teams regularly pick on our fb thru the air no matter who is playing. Hoyte is less of a liability there but he isnt good enough in the attacking third.
What has happened to Kerrea Gilbert?

  • 64. mr serge  |  July 5th, 2007 at 10:57 am

    me skint ha

  • 65. Gunner8  |  July 5th, 2007 at 10:58 am

Kerry was a sub in the championship… …I thought he looked great playing for us 2 years ago… …I am another who doesn’t see how this Sagna guy would fit in… …has anyone even seen him play???

  • 66. mr serge  |  July 5th, 2007 at 10:58 am

kerrea played well on loan then got injured and never won back his place,

  • 67. mr serge  |  July 5th, 2007 at 10:59 am

sagna had a good season last season i don’t think he will get him look for another buy out of nowhere

  • 68. Chocolicious  |  July 5th, 2007 at 10:59 am

sagna is cover and competition for the fullback positions, either one. He was the best fullback in France last season. He can play CB but I dont want him there we alraady have height deficiency there

  • 69. Mr Serge's Private Banker  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:00 am

  • 79. Chocolicious  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:05 am

I have only see him play a few times and the I have read reports. He is strong and quick(similar to toure and gallas) he rarely gets beaten and if he does he gets back in(again similar to tour and gallas). He can also attack.

  • 80. Gunner 8  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:06 am

I agree wih Bergkamp how will they all fit in… …i might be mistaken, but Fergie has done this B4 after winning the league… ….he signed Veron, Kleberson and some others and who won? A R S E N A L !

  • 81. mr serge  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:07 am

sagna is 5′9 has played 87 games for auxerre in 3 years and played in the last france game which i watched he is a better version of chimbonda who chelsea are coveting, he is more defensive than eboue and more offensive than hoyte so he would fit in, out of the 87 games he played for auxerre 23 were at left back 64 at right back

  • 82. Mr. Serge's Banker  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:08 am

Renato Augusto, would/could rock my world.
would fit into the rotating front line too.
Fuck we all dnt even know what formation we will be playing next season. I wonder how its all going to work out

  • 95. Chocolicious  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:14 am

Eboue being pushed forward might be a plan but where would that leave Walcott as we already have 4 forwards vying for two spots. It will be interestign how AW looks to play with all these players as Bendtner would not have signed without guarantees about first team football.

  • 96. mr serge  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:14 am

torres is not a goal scorer anyone thinking he will come and score a mass of goals is crazy he is an architect a link between midfield and the frontline,
darren bent proves what a crazy transfer market we have over here, henry has more skill in his big toe

  • 102. mr serge  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:15 am

Were almost as good as Man U, I mean Adebeyor is much better then Cristiano Ronaldo in my book. I’ve been watching football for many years and I tell you ronaldo is massively overated. He cant dribble or shoot

  • 103. mr serge  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:15 am

choco walcott will be an out and out striker in a couple of years he plays him on the wings so he can gain experience in a less important position,

  • 104. Topcat  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:15 am

    DAMN WORDPRESS.

MY GUN GETTING SKILLS ARE ON THE WANE…..

IF IM NOT CAREFUL ARSENE WILL SHIP ME OFF TO BARCA FOR 16M

  • 105. WillyG  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:15 am

I think we should loan Walcott this season?

  • 106. Chocolicious  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:16 am

damn I am so good its scary

  • 107. mr serge  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:16 am

  • 108. Topcat  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:17 am

    105.

    Impossible.

You cant spend that much on a player then loan him out.

    Unless you are Chelsea

  • 109. Chocolicious  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:17 am

Sorry TC but I am on fire since I started posting, I got a hattrick yesterday

  • 110. Topcat  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:17 am

  • 113. Mavis  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:18 am

    103 - who’s ‘choco walcott’?

  • 114. Goonerbeall  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:19 am

Look guys, just sh… it. I’m so stressed by this talk of “Manure got Tev” etc that I’m getting sick about it all. Please, lets us keep a low profile and see what happens- ok? I cant cope with all the bragging and you too going on about it. Just cant cope

  • 115. Topcat  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:19 am

Moccachino / Frapachino or whoever you are - you need to learn some damned respect.

  • 116. lionar  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:19 am

No way no one can train walcot the way we want him as well as we can.

  • 117. Topcat  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:20 am

    114.

    Goonerbeall. Like Frankie says RELAX.

  • 118. WillyG  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:20 am

I don`t think M.United need Tevez,Rooney is similar. They better sign Berbatov……and we have Tevez(Can`t see Wenger spending that kind of money thought)

  • 119. mr serge  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:20 am

We need ferguson at the helm

  • 120. Vincent  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:21 am

After handing Cesc Fabregas the captaincy, Arsene Wenger cna go fuck himself to be honest . I am sick of him using the Arsenal cpataincy as an appeasement tool to daddy players who only want to leave and WILL leave anyway. It is an important thing to be captain yet AW does the same fucking nonsene.

As for transfers? Read Robin’s post in the last thread if you want to know why many fans are sick of the board, and Wenger.
Considering Pool have just signed Torres and have closed in on Simao; that United have signed Hargreaves, Anderson (quality) and are about to sign fucking TEVEZ…thats without forgetting the Chavs with Alex, Pizarro and Malouda - if any of you think that with Dudu Da Silva, Nordveit and Sunu that Arsenal have any chance of finishing within 10 pts of the leaders then you are insane. This is fucking ridiculous the money is there and yet Wenger idly stands by showing a ridiculous faith in a rubbish squad that’s not produced for three whole years. As someone said yesterday. If you think Wenger would even last six months at a Real or Barca then you dead wrong. AW is at the perfect club for him really.

He can do what he likes, he can go 3 years without winning a thing but still expect a fat pay-rise, he can sign dross upon dross upon inexperience but expect most fans to say how much he ‘Knows’. He can virtually do as he pleases because there’s absolutely fuck all pressure from the fans. Were Arsenal to finish 4th for the next four season and win no trophies, most fans would still be saying ‘Arsene Knows’ and the board would hand him a new improved 6-year deal.

We’ve not been competitive for three years and now with our rivals steaming ahead, expect that to be about another 3 years. Like I said. Find me a big club where the manager performs so badly for 3 years running in the league; and decides to remedy it by going out to sign 2 young teens from a Scandinavian nursery and a French playskool…and a comical Brazilian people laugh at in his country of birth…

  • 121. Topcat  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:22 am

    116.

On all fours licking nuts you mean? Or is that how we want to train him?

  • 122. Mos  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:22 am

signing two” talented’youngster”‘ is one thing but signing tevez is fabulous… for united
    im almost jealous.

  • 123. Topcat  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:23 am

    120.

Please post the article where it quotes Wenger saying “I have made Fabregas Captain of Arsenal”

My understanding is that it is RUMOURED that Gilberto will be made captain and cesc vice captain.

So your post is null and void.

  • 124. mr serge  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:24 am

My club Man U would have sacked wenger definitly

  • 125. WillyG  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:24 am

How can spurs spendover 30 million? what is our record sign Wiltord 13million or Reyes ?

  • 126. WillyG  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:25 am

Kolo Toure surely for Vice Captain

  • 127. Chocolicious  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:25 am

    123.

    beat me to it

  • 128. Chocolicious  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:26 am

Kolo for v-captain makes mroe sense to me sa he is more senior, and was third in line last season or was he forth as I remember ljungberg being captain at one point(what a joke but I understand through seniority) the captain isnt always the best player.

  • 129. Topcat  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:27 am

    120.

Malouda plays for Lyon, Simao for Benfice and Tevez for West Ham - but don’t let that get in the way of a fine damn rant.

  • 130. mr serge  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:27 am

    wiltord is our record signing

  • 131. Topcat  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:27 am

    127.

I beat you to something then.

  • 132. shwazz  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:28 am

  • 133. Chocolicious  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:29 am

I hate losing damn you to hell TC, I am going for the hatrick again today, at least a brace. I am Eduardo up in this bitch!

  • 134. Baz  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:29 am

Wenger never learns from his mistakes enough is enough.
Vice-captaincy to fucking FABREGAS? At any other club with order and discipline, after his recent comments Cesc would be lucky to be getting a game with the reserves. Instead what does Wenger do? Vice-captaincy. Not only is this a kick in the teeth for Kolo but it’s a fucking piss-take outta the fans who had to put up with the whiny little shit’s comments all summer. Mind you, I suppose this is how Wenger ‘disciplines’ them eh? Imagine Mourinho or Fergie doing that? Nope. Does it work? Last 3 years suggest no fucking way.

Whoever suggested Ancelotti yesterday I would bite your hand off now, And let’s not even talk about his delusion in the transfer market. All the ;super-super class’ players have gone. We be left with ’super-super class’ turd.

  • 135. Chocolicious  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:30 am

    120.

If you think Wenger would even last six months at a Real or Barca then you dead wrong.

    - -

ahhhh…. so thats why they both have been chasing him for the last 3 years - so that they can sack him 6 months later?

Besides - not many coaches survive at those clubs - which is generally seen as a bad thing - thake Capello - so good that despite winning the league he gets sacked.

  • 137. BengalGooner  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:31 am

    125 - i reckon record signing is Wiltord - £13m.
Where are Manure getting all the money - are they just adding to borrowings - i thought they had interest payments to make.I cant see them spending anything next season surely next years budget has been spent and possibly the season after that as well.

Like i said b4 RVP has to produce this season show he is the main man, start dominating gmaes then we can say he is world class.

    anyway Arsene knows.

  • 138. mr serge  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:31 am

we wasted 22mill on reyes though didnt we. forgot about that

  • 139. Chocolicious  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:31 am

people stop going on about the last 3years, Man U hadnt one anything for the past years then won the league, football changes very quickly so shut the fuck up about 3yrs.

  • 140. BengalGooner  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:32 am

    Toure for vice captain!

  • 141. mr serge  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:33 am

baz how do you know cesc said anything? the papers are renown for taking quotes and turning them around, i think he has done nothing but show his loyalty he signed an 8 year deal last season ffs, he almost had a punch up with mark hughes, and threw pizza at fergie if that does not show loyalty and desire to play for us what does, some fans just don’t know anything

  • 142. Chocolicious  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:33 am

Also can people stop taking what the press say for gospel. These clubs are businesses and do not have to release every piece of information and all the press can do is create rumours based on deduction and guessing rather than proof.

22M? umm…. did you just pull that figure out of your ass?

  • 145. WillyG  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:34 am

So how can a club as big as Arsenal not beat that 13million since then,I`m not saying we should top it just for anyone but I`m sure we can get a top player if we want.Tottenham have been spending left right and centre so have M.U,Chelsea,Liverpool-m.City on the way,Villa have started. My point is we still need new faces as the Premiership is getting harder and more demanding every year.4-3 season ago before Abramovich came we chould do without the spending but now everyone is trying to get to Chelsea..

  • 146. Topcat  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:34 am

    150 is mine……mine I tell thee..

  • 147. Mos  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:34 am

  • 155. mr serge  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:36 am

    fact
we paid 7 million for reyes upfront and the rest on appearances caps etc which never materialized so if we sell him for over 7 million we make a profit actually uneducated spud who is using my name

    fact
spurs pay top dollar for players every year and do fuck all
    fact

  • 156. Topcat  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:37 am

    Mos

Even if you took all the hate every single arsenal fan feels for Ashley Cole and put it in a big hate warehouse

it still wouldn’t be as much as I hate you for getting 1st gun today.

  • 157. mr serge  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:37 am

    keep up.

  • 160. Gunafied  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:39 am

I wasnt nervous or scared wen man united got nani and anderson but damn im feeling the heat now. Seriously i am. Man united jus got a monster signing sum1 that i wud hav loved on our left wing. But hey in wenger i trust. Since tevez aka shrek is at manu il settle either for damn i dont know. Maybe a less tricky quaresma who wil pass on time and wont do those crowed pleasin flicks. I doubt wenger wil go 4 him. Mayb go for robinho. F@*k this shit lets settle for anelka. Im confused.

  • 161. mr serge  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:39 am

willyg because arsene does not like to buy a player with a big rep for top money because we don’t have the money he would prefer to go and find someone and make him a top player worth that kind of cash ala pires, henry, vieira, cesc, overmars, anelka, petit etc etc etc

  • 162. mr serge  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:40 am

    topcat duh i will lol

  • 163. Mos  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:40 am

    100 gun dont matter
    200 gun dont matter
nobody gives a rat’s ass for any gun except FIRST GUN
    and MOS got FIRST GUN..

well tevez at least didnt lie.. he did say he didnt wanna leave England! good chap.

  • 164. Fake Brazilian  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:41 am

Andy Gray wrote a very interesting article of 365 today about United. It shows that if anyone has a ‘5-year plan’ (much-loved by the Apologists) then it certainly isn’t Wenger but Fergie. Wjen you see the team that finished 21 pts ahead of us strenghtening so impressively and finish it off with a world-class player like Tevez…and then see our own Wenger sign some joke Brazilian (sorry, Croatian?!) and think that ‘only one or 2 additions are needed’ to such a pissp-poor squad then you have to laugh at the all-round delusion. Arsenal will come nowhere near the top 2 for the fourth year running. Mind, this ‘long-term plan’ (much-loved by the Apologists) must be Reeeally long-term if 4 years is ’short’ huh?

  • 165. BengalGooner  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:42 am

We’ve had to be build a new stadium which has restriced spending - am i right in thinking a lot of money was spent on preliminary work regarding new site including consultants/legal fees . Arsene has helped deliver the best stadium in premiership, also ensured bright future for Arsenal because of new stadium. I think the spuds are well run club but at the end of the day there is a limit to who they sign up (wage cap lower than ours i believe) - reckon them and other clubs are spending future (xyta) TV money.
in the long run we’ll be one of the strongest clubs financially in England for sure.

  • 166. WillyG  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:43 am

True Man.United are spending alot of money but they brought top class young players so in time they will replace there top class older players such as Scholes,Gigges etc….I won`t need to spend again on the other hand we need ready made players coz Wenger already thought of that, and we paid much less(Fabregas,Djourou,RVP,Denilson,Walcott,Vela) and so on

  • 167. mr serge  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:44 am

man u’s team is full of older players that have a couple of seasons left in them as have chelsea and liverpool what will happen then? transition thats what and were will we be then at the top with our youngsters anyone that can’t see that is blind

  • 168. BengalGooner  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:46 am

Manure have spent alot (or borrowed alot) if these buys dont work out then what -whats the glazers Plan B? sell out? they r not going to get as much as they ‘ve paid out for the nani and anderson.

Arsene prefers a low risk strategy thats his nature some of us find it frustrating but he has delivered b4.

  • 169. mr serge  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:47 am

bengal also there are other restrictions like the development of highbury which arsenal are doing themselves is costing a lot and as soon as we sell them all the financial burden will be lifted, we make more money a gate receipts than any other team in the world the future is bright

  • 170. Topcat  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:47 am

    Hi all

I looked at the BBC report re the Tevez thing - and am pissed at the reporter - who is one Mihar Bose - the guy who openly admits he supports Spurs and is anti-arsenal.

“I understand talks have been going on for several weeks now,” said BBC sports editor Mihir Bose.

“Manchester United are certainly very keen on Carlos Tevez but they are very complicated talks because of the nature of the loan arrangement he has at West Ham.

“What is going on is whether he goes on a permanent move, which would involve a very high fee. Certainly, Tevez’s people would want in the region of what Zinedine Zidane went for when he moved to Real Madrid - about £40m.

“Or he could go on the same arrangement his colleague Javier Mascherano went to Liverpool under from West Ham. That was a two-year deal and a sort of extended loan for a much lower fee.”

There are no quotes from Tevez, his agent, the clubs involved - just from an anti-arsenal bbc reporter

Please do not get sucked in by this stuff

    FIX UP

  • 171. Batman  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:47 am

    Holy Pseudonyms Vincent!!

You talk as much bollocks as Robin. You have already been told that Fab hasn’t been made Captain but you really should check your facts as it is only 2 years since we last won something and not 3.

  • 172. Grandizer  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:47 am

morning all, so tevez could be set 4 united! Really disapointed in reading the headlines this morning but our ridiculous transfer activity means well miss out on another great player! Man U are looking to stay at the top n i cant see how us n liverpool can possibly challenge. Not sure if this foreign investment lark is ridiculous anymore cos the top three teams have all strengthened, whereas we havnt really, in terms of addressing problem areas in our team. Surely henrys sale n a few others could fund tevez deal, it doesnt make any sense that we dont spend big when its necessary. Surely if we put in a bid for him he would chose london over manchester!

  • 173. Billy Billy Bosh  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:48 am

Mr serge you are spot on.

Arsenal are not a big club. We are a feeder club thats makes superstars and then sells them onto big clubs. We are like PSV and AJAX, a great place for superstars to learn there trade.
mr serge i salute your honesty

  • 174. Vincent  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:48 am

It seems that as it gets harder and harder to win the league, it becomes easier and easier for AW to sign children and not even bother trying to win it. He hasn’t been bothering for three years…oops make that four…

  • 175. WillyG  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:49 am

Mr Serge, now the competion is getting tougher….I`m not saying go buy and spend but for example now we need a top class signing this summer having lost one in Henry. What I mean is see the liverpool players belive more after the signing of Torres(by the way now they r after Quaresma)

  • 176. Ash  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:49 am

Yeah sure theres not much Arsenal news but we’ve just signed a player 2 days ago. I think the next signing will be key to where we will be next season. I am glad Wenger has gone for Eduardo but we now need someone who can get the ball into the box for him to score. Awide player with intelligence and class, Walcott will play a role but he’s not ready yet. Rosicky and Hleb are not really final 3rd players. The Benitez pic is hillarious

  • 177. mr serge  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:49 am

topcat is right tevez is in south america and far to busy to be speculating about his future right now players don’t sign for clubs mid tournament

  • 178. Batman  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:49 am

    WHHOOOOSH!!!!

  • 179. Grandizer  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:49 am

jus read topcats post. Mayb its not all done and dusted then

  • 180. Vincent  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:50 am

    173 spot on.

  • 181. Grandizer  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:51 am

Mihar Bose sounds like hes talking out of his yid arse!

  • 182. Don McLean  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:51 am

Vincent - Starry, Starry nights. I could have told you Vincent this world was never meant for one as beautiful as you.

  • 183. BengalGooner  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:51 am

whats happened with the Anelka thing - its all gone quiet, and same with Martins. Also i reckon we need a top class Central defender - toure off to africa plus in case of injurys.

  • 184. Gunafied  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:51 am

Besides eto, martins, anelka, quaresma, robinho, huntelaar, owen, alves, malouda, and babel. WHO CAN ARSENAL GET AT AGE 21-26 and would guarentee us goals? Dnt say kaka.

  • 185. Vincent  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:53 am

Well said 175. Confidence boost in the likes of Alonso, Reina, Gerrard and co. You see it in their press statements. They;re all excited by the arrival of Torres it has geed them up. Henry should have stayed. He lost faith too early. I mean..imagine how excited he woulda been to see the ’super-super class’ Edu da Silva walk into the Emirates dressing room. Why go Barcelona?!

  • 186. Grandizer  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:53 am

    184. Gunafied

    Adriano? Tevez?

  • 187. WillyG  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:54 am

That right Ash 176.The Eduardo signing is a good one and I have a feeling he will turn into one of the most prolific strikers under Wenger but we need a top class signing who can put the delivery(Manicni-Roma,Nasri-Marsille,Quaresma-Porto)etc

  • 188. mr serge  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:55 am

billy bosh you talk tosh how many players do we sell because we have to,vieira had 10 years and his whole prime years with us, as did henry, pires, overmars, bergkamp, the whole back line we only sell players when they are going downhill there is only 1 feeder club near arsenal and thats spurs, as soon as a big club like us comes calling your big players open their legs like dirty whores, ala teddy, carrick, sol the rest are not good enough so you can keep them

  • 189. ozz  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:55 am

Fuck me. I really want Tevez to come over here. But wonder how we could fit them all. Ade, Rvp, Dudu, Theo and Bendtner.

  • 190. WillyG  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:56 am

But the guy who I think can do a great job + have a chace to get is Robinho who by the way can fit better then he did at Real Madrid coz near Arsenal they play shit football

The only player who still had success after he left Arsenal in my opinion is Vieira

  • 192. Don McLean  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:58 am

Vincent —how you suffered for your sanity how you tried to set them free. They would not listen they did not know how perhaps they’ll listen now.

184 - here are some suggestions,
    Jefferson Farfan (PSV Eindhoven)
    Rodrigo Palacio (Boca Juniors)
    David Villa (Valencia)
    Daniel Alves (Seville)

188 - right on - we sell our players towards the end of their careers unlike spuds (Carrick/Campbell)

  • 197. WillyG  |  July 5th, 2007 at 12:01 pm

Villa might cost up to 40-50million so shhhh,Alves up to 18-20million so shhhh again.Farfan to be honest I was thinking he might be target for Wenger,as for Palacio he is bound to end up in Spain

  • 198. Mavis  |  July 5th, 2007 at 12:02 pm

  • 210. Mavis  |  July 5th, 2007 at 12:04 pm

If you had got it, that would be talent. But nearly getting it is as good as an England penalty.

  • 211. WillyG  |  July 5th, 2007 at 12:04 pm

Chivu would have been an other top signing 13million plays left back and centre but he is all set for Real Madrid

  • 212. Chocolicious  |  July 5th, 2007 at 12:05 pm

WillyG and that was because one Juve cheated, two the competition had been downgraded due to cheating and the teams he went to were pretty strong anyway and might have won the championships without him but he hasnt done badly but noting great.

  • 213. Mavis  |  July 5th, 2007 at 12:05 pm

Billy - that’s called an arsehole. Understandable that you’d get them confused as you keep asking men if you can get up in their manginas

  • 214. WillyG  |  July 5th, 2007 at 12:05 pm

If I were Wenger my next target and surely try my utmost to get are Robinho or Mancini of Roma

  • 216. BengalGooner  |  July 5th, 2007 at 12:07 pm

13m too much for a lift back, dont u think?
What about Vela how good is he really? will he make it has he made any waves in spain?

    216. BengalGooner

Velas an interesting case. Hes been in spain so long now thats theres a fear that he wont want to come to us if he can help it. Hes spoken about his desire to play for real one day, so wether we will see him in an arsenal shirt (ever) is difficult to say. Geting a permit has caused problems for arsenal but he is still our player officially. He turned alot of heads with his performances for salamanca b4 he got injured and hes been called the next hugo sanchez. Very quick and direct but still a very raw talent. Would love to see him at arsenal because i think his movement would suit our play - essay finished!

  • 225. number cruncher  |  July 5th, 2007 at 12:14 pm

the only reason we bought a player now is for the release of the new away kit!
if we didn’t buy anyone how the fuck would we sell allthe new shiny white kits to all the mug arsenal fans who we expect to be queueing up outside…
our next signing will be just before the emirates cup!
so there will be a mad rush for ticket sales!!
SO MUCH CLASS we have nowadays using a dead man for marketting purposes!
are you one of the mugs who have bought the new kit?

  • 226. lionar  |  July 5th, 2007 at 12:17 pm

Wow whats with all the negative vibes man…we will be fine.
We have a lot of superb players theyv shown theyr potential now they and a few new addtiions will show their consistent class.
Man U need to buy look how old most of their squad is. Chelsea need more variety thats why theyr getting more (on the cheap coz they have to) If you look at the stats last season you will see that we arent that far off we just need consistency. We will get it our defence will become familliar with itself over the summer anf thatwill be further solidified over time.

  • 228. Kem  |  July 5th, 2007 at 12:20 pm

If we end up 21/24 points behind the leaders, Wenger should lose his job. Don’t offer him a new contract either.

  • 229. Grandizer  |  July 5th, 2007 at 12:20 pm

    220. Arsenal4life he weighs
one and a half stone actually. S W P is leightweight but hes strong enuf for the prem so why not robinho. I think alot of gooners would be happy to sign robinho - back me up gooners!

  • 230. Valour  |  July 5th, 2007 at 12:21 pm

    Mr. serge,
please keep posting and keep educating. Some folks see this as an opportunity to insult and also spread their foul cabbage. Bad upbringing I guess.

  • 231. Gunafied  |  July 5th, 2007 at 12:21 pm

Wel get curtis davis or sagna. How i wish we had tevez. Robinho is gud bt isnt a marker.

  • 232. Geekov  |  July 5th, 2007 at 12:23 pm

    £40 MILLION for Teves?????

What the hell is Mihir Bose on??? I want some of that shit now!!!!

I would like the little monkey face, he would look like Keown’s love child, cool. But the problems lie in the conveluted ownership stuff. Very very dodgy. But not impossible to resolve. If not him, then surely we are gonna sign others as the transfer window is wide open, breathe in that fresh air……aaaahhhhhhh

  • 233. Valour  |  July 5th, 2007 at 12:23 pm

    Mr.serge your very good looking

  • 234. lionar  |  July 5th, 2007 at 12:24 pm

Hmm but Robinho can be taught to track back anmd Iv seen him track back in several games in a team like Real and the Brazillian league that kindof discipline isnt excactly widely taught

  • 235. WillyG  |  July 5th, 2007 at 12:25 pm

As I said before I am 100% in favour of Robinho…..Offering Reyes + cash

  • 236. Geekov  |  July 5th, 2007 at 12:25 pm

Kem; I am sure that IF we did finish 21 points behind AGAIN, then Wenger, being an honourable bloke would do the decent thing…..and put his testicles in a blender, his nose in a deep fat fryer and slice his own head off with Big Phill’s Swiss Army Knife.

  • 238. Grandizer  |  July 5th, 2007 at 12:26 pm

Henry wasnt a great forward b4 he joind arsenal but wenger changed that so he can deffinately improve robinho as a player

  • 239. Geekov  |  July 5th, 2007 at 12:27 pm

Robinho?? No chance, he would make Baptista look like Cruyff. I have spoken, that is the end of the subject, now, thanks…move along.

  • 242. Grandizer  |  July 5th, 2007 at 12:29 pm

Real madrid r trying to get reyes on the cheap which i think is a fucking disgrace considering what he did for them in the final game, and how much extra money he made them. Jus give us robinho and will call it quits

  • 243. GunnerStan  |  July 5th, 2007 at 12:30 pm

there better be more signings i never been so depressed in close season as i am now

    Grant Mitchell
    Billy Elliot
    Fred West

  • 245. Gunafied  |  July 5th, 2007 at 12:31 pm

We need at least 29 goals from the midfield alone. I was sure tevez wud hav given us 12goals, cesc 7. Rosisk 7 and gilberto 4.

  • 246. zc  |  July 5th, 2007 at 12:32 pm

I mean we have gone through a season with Lehmann the only signing. It can’t get worse. =)

  • 259. Bitter N Twisted  |  July 5th, 2007 at 12:46 pm

Robinho, you guys live in a fucking fantasy land.

  • 266. Topcat  |  July 5th, 2007 at 12:57 pm

    Hear ye Hear ye.

Can we put this to bed once and for all.

To all that say we will never win anything. Unless you can predict the future, that statement cannot be proven. For all your negativity, you cannot say 100% where we will finish next season, what we will or won’t win and how good/bad our overall play will be.

Just as I cannot say we will win the league. I have no idea, just like you.

So please drop the assumption that we are going to finish 7th, 4th, 23rd or whereever and

WAIT UNTIL THE SEASON IS OVER OR AT LEAST STARTED!

    Thanks.

  • 267. Cheeky Bastard  |  July 5th, 2007 at 12:59 pm

  • 270. shishi  |  July 5th, 2007 at 1:00 pm

Kaboul was second choice for the spuds but they couldn’t agree a deal for the return of their allegedly former gay captain Campbell.

Unfortunately for him the deal broke down after sources close to centre-half said he was excited about going back after hearing Tottenham strikers would be Bent & Keane.

  • 271. Topcat  |  July 5th, 2007 at 1:01 pm

    267.

Cheeky Bastard - that was my point. Its about as realistic saying we are to finish 23rd as it is to say we are to finish 4th or 7th.

But thanks for missing my point,.

  • 275. Dick (aka Willy)  |  July 5th, 2007 at 1:04 pm

OH FOR FUCK’S SAKE, THIS IS GETTING REALLY FUCKING PATHETIC NOW…

    I don’t believe it - we’ve missed out AGAIN.

How the fuck have Atletico Madrid beat us to QUARESMA? He’s exactly what we need - yes, a fucking WINGER - one of the few world-class wingers who’s actually available and yet he’s moving to a club who ain’t even in the UEFA Cup next season.

AW said he signed Dudu partly because of his performances against us in the Champs League last season. Well we fucked them 3-0 in the first leg (I don’t even remember Dudu having a touch of the ball) meaning the only real time he could have Wenger’s eye “against us” was when he scored in the 2nd leg. One game.

Yet Quaresma terrorized us in both CL legs against Porto and was fucking lethal in the Champs League last season. Wenger also got to see Quaresma when Portugal played Brazil at our stadium and was raving about him (and Nani, incidentally) in the pre-match programme. What’s more, Quaresma had a blinder that night, ran Brazil (BRAZIL!) ragged.

If we go into next season with that steaming pile of rhinoceros shit Hleb prancing up and down that wing, giving the ball away like it’s free candy, with the over-rated starry-eyed Walcott as his back-up, then we’re in BIG FUCKING TROUBLE!

  • 276. Dick (aka Willy)  |  July 5th, 2007 at 1:06 pm

    (SOME MORE….)

And no, let’s not play Eboue on the wing. What makes us think every player can play everywhere?? Gallas was fucking turd at left-back last season. As too was Gilberto when he was moved to centre-back. Flamini managed it (for half a season), Toure managed it (from midfielder to defender) and Henry managed it (from winger to forward). DOESN’T MEAN EVERYONE ELSE WILL. Fuck’s sake, reminds me of when ManUre tried playing Solskjaer on the wing when Beckham left on the basis of ten or so games he played there the previous season when Beckham was injured. Funnily enough, they didn’t win the league for three seasons.

    Do people not learn???

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again - it’s no coincidence that us and Liverpool have no wingers and now width and both finished 3rd and 4th on the same points, yet Utd and Chelsea, who have wingers and wide-men in abundance (Robben, J Cole, SWP, Kalou, C Ronaldo, Giggs, Park) - and are still signing more (Nani, Malouda) - finish 1st and 2nd by an absolute gulf of points.

I repeat: NO WINGERS = NO TITLE!

  • 277. Mos  |  July 5th, 2007 at 1:06 pm

  • 281. Bitter N Twisted  |  July 5th, 2007 at 1:08 pm

    Lionar,

Shit: a club that claims to have asperations of challanging for the title every year, but in actual fact it season finishes before santa claus has made an appearance.

Not one player we have excites me next term. I cannot think of a player that when the shit is hitting the fan is going to take the game by the scruff of the neck, gilberto? our new captain who has dificulty passing a ball 2 fucking yards.

We will finsh fourth, if this is acceptable to you, then fan dazzy dozzie. But for me to go from HENRY BERGKAMP PV PIRES to this current crop of shit is unacceptable.

Toure is world class and would get into most teams in the world. But from the hype surronding Cesc you would think he is single handedly going to win us the league in some diego maradona fashion. He is a good player dont get me wrong, but he isnt what we are making him out to be and in a four man midfield he sometimes struggles to impose himself. provide him with quality all around and he will shine no doubt, but he aint got that.

So toure world class and cesc, going to be world class, he will probably furfill his potential when he is in 3rd season at Barca, so lets say in 4 years time.

RVP is a good finisher, and a scorer of great goals. but anyone that compares him to DB10 is an idiot. He could have 8 players in better positions than him an he wouldnt spot them, for our team this is not such a bad thing because no one bloody shoots. He needs to great enhance his general play, otherwise games will pass him by.

Have i missed anyone out???? Honestly this is it our potential big game players. LOL

please lionar try to have a conversation on an adult level with me instead of talking about my genitals. If you show me that i am wrong i will admit it because i am a man.

  • 282. WillyG  |  July 5th, 2007 at 1:08 pm

Quaresma has not signed for Atletico Madrid yet…..bu if he does sign then we have 2 probleams coz Reyes chould have joined them…..I also happen to like Maxi Rodiguez of Argentina remember his goals in the world cup just what we need

  • 283. Dick (aka Willy)  |  July 5th, 2007 at 1:09 pm

MOS — er… Atletico’s bid has been accepted, Quaresma is in Spain to agree personal terms. Us on the other hand have made no bid and are instead twiddling our thumbs while we miss out on Tevez… Malouda… Torres… Quaresma…

I KNOW! Let’s sell the stadium!!!

  • 284. Topcat  |  July 5th, 2007 at 1:09 pm

    Dick,

“You are all for not getting sucked in by media hype - yet, you are getting in a flap over this one, por qui?”

Correct, Topcat, I don’t care much for media hype and don’t believe half the shit they come out with. But when you’ve got quotes from Atletico, quotes from Barcelona and quotes from Quaresma himself, your eyes do tend to prick up a little. A little bit like everybody suddenly took TH14’s departure seriously when the club came out and said “we are negotiating the transfer of Thierry Henry to Barcelona”.

If it does turn out to be bullshit then on this occassion I’m a sucker. But when it rains outside people get wet and right now it looks a formality that Quaresma is gonna sign for Atletico - and pour more scorn on our attempts to build a decent, title-challenging side for next season.

    I am pissed off.

  • 316. Geekov  |  July 5th, 2007 at 1:20 pm

  • 320. Geekov  |  July 5th, 2007 at 1:26 pm

314; I’ll filed this one. No, I do not think we are good enough to win the league at the present moment. However, I do feel we would be better off points wise, IF we win more games and do not lose as many.

  • 321. Ruralgoon  |  July 5th, 2007 at 1:26 pm

  • 325. Little Dutch  |  July 5th, 2007 at 1:27 pm

Can somebody please give me tangible evdience that we were ever in for Tevez, Malouda or Quaresma (who would be the worst signing we could ever make, we already sold Quincy Owusu Abeyie once). Oh right, that’s the right, the meeja. Yes, the ones who were so adept at spotting our interest in Eduardo months before the deal happened. To slate the manager on the basis of these total non facts is so idiotic it defies words. How can you say we lost out on players we were never in for? I think Tevez is a great player, but Wenger ruled out signing him months ago when he spke about his unease about the whole ownership issue. But because the meeja put some bullshit story out, you all run with it like a dog with a bone. Honestly, how can soooooo many people be soooo stupid?

  • 329. lionar  |  July 5th, 2007 at 1:31 pm

Erm you started it with all the insults you hurt my feeling…

Ok if I can prve you wrong, RVP please review his goal ratio last season. Rosicky is a fantastic player who spent large parts of last season injured how you can say hes poor I dnt understand, once agian please look at his stats. in fact give me your definition of poor, I wouldv thought teams that were relegated were poor, no? We finished fourth, not overjoyed with that but I believe theres massive room for improvement because this is the same team that was capable of beating man u twice that does not signal the extent of my ambition for the team Iv suported all my life it just means I have faith in them, because they have shown me glimpses of their true ability, not the ability they showed when they were at their worst but when they were at their best, that for me is what being a supporter is all about.
Its why I respect man City fans you go down several divisions and you still see the best in your team,
Now Im bored with having to argue this on a FUCKING ARSENAL BLOG!!!!!
But I shallend by pointing out that we have been pretty fucking spoilt over the last couple of years and yes even at times last season by the quality of football our team plays…Im done.

Ask the makers of Big Brother and Celebrity Island.

Unfortunately humans as a species are in general not very good at rationality. If you see someone running towards you and shouting run, you probably will without even questioning what you are running from.

Its the same with the media - they tell you what they like and most people accept it as fact.

If you can’t be arsed to do your own research you will forever be someone else’s monkey.

  • 345. Pete  |  July 5th, 2007 at 1:43 pm

Topcat 330, spot on - I get so bored trying to convince people that what they read in the Sun isn’t true, but it never works.

It’s not just the Sun though - many of the broadsheets, both in politics and in sport, try to convince us of the same things as the tabloids, they just aim it at a different intellectual level.

Many times I’ve noticed two articles, one in a tabloid, one in a ‘respected’ broadsheet, both coming to the same conclusion. The tabloid one is loud, brash, and obviously bollocks, and the broadsheet one is cleverly worded and analysed, but gives the same message.

Both are convincing on different levels, and both are often wrong.

Take the striker situation - all papers (of all levels) got it wrong with out signings, but when you saw an article in a broadsheet, didn’t it seem much more plausible?

    The media is powerful.

  • 346. lionar  |  July 5th, 2007 at 1:44 pm

I cnt be bothered to argue with anyone over the obvious anymore, according to you Bitter where poor, I just cant see it neither can the majority of the rest of the world.

i can feel everyones respect for me rise, just like my penis is.

  • 351. Bitter N Twisted  |  July 5th, 2007 at 1:48 pm

    lionar,

I said we would finish 4th which is poor by our standards. The majority of the rest of the world dont give shit.

  • 352. Chocolicious  |  July 5th, 2007 at 1:49 pm

    Ahh you got me topcat,

Anyone that believes we are a poor team is dreaming and hasnt watched football for a few seasons. What was our problem last season that made us lose so many games, we conceded an early goal and then did not make our dominance tel by puttin the ballin the back of the net even with up top two strikers injured. If we improve defensive concentration while finishing off the numerous chances we create we would improve on so many results as we only lost by more than one goal a few times, Bolton and Liverpool come to mind and others we drew, one goal in so many games let us down, one friggin goal yet ppl want to revamp the whole team it would seem and we NEED so many players.

  • 353. lionar  |  July 5th, 2007 at 1:49 pm

Well surely insanity can exist in the group much in the same way that an individual might not contemplate certain actions but ‘a mob’ will embolden the individual and make him feel empowered enough to acting as a group not only concieve but act on his very basest instincts.

  • 354. lionar  |  July 5th, 2007 at 1:50 pm

Bitter, you said the team is poor. your exact words do you still stand by them?

  • 355. mr serge  |  July 5th, 2007 at 1:51 pm

  • 356. lionar  |  July 5th, 2007 at 1:52 pm

You also said ‘this current shit’ so are you saying the team is shit bar a few players?

  • 357. ron  |  July 5th, 2007 at 1:52 pm

Of major philosophers, Nietzsche has generated possibly the least consensus. One can readily identify his key concepts, but the meaning of each, let alone the relative significance of each, remains hotly contested. Nietzsche famously claimed that “God is dead”, and this death either results in radical perspectivism or compels one to confront the fact that truth had always been perspectival. Nietzsche also distinguished between master and slave moralities, the former arising from a celebration of life, the latter the result of ressentiment at those capable of the former. This distinction becomes in summary the difference between “good and bad” on the one hand, and “good and evil” on the other; importantly, the “good” man of the master morality equates to the “evil” man of the slave morality.

here is MY opinion on Nietzsche:

The rise of morality and of moral disputes thus becomes a matter of psychology; Nietzsche’s perspectivism likewise reduces epistemology to psychology. One of the most recurrent themes in Nietzsche’s work, therefore, emerges as the “Will to Power”. At a minimum, Nietzsche claims for the will to power that it describes human behavior more compellingly than Platonic eros, Schopenhauer’s “will to live,” or Paul Rée’s utilitarian account of morality, among others; to go beyond this would involve interpretation.

  • 358. Topcat  |  July 5th, 2007 at 1:53 pm

    345.

    Pete I agree entirely.

If you see an article in the red rags, you presume its bollox.

If the article is in the Guardian/Times/Independant, it instantly. but wrongly gets more credability.

I will show you a good example from today.

    http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/12277/Wenger:+Da+Silva+will+be+Arsenal+legend

Have a read of the article - then tell me where exactly the quote from Wenger is that says “Da Silva will be an Arsenal Legend”.

There isn’t one - the reporter made that up based on what he believed Wenger meant.

And that is just one example from one paper.

  • 359. Pete  |  July 5th, 2007 at 1:54 pm

youve grabbed onto a point your trying to make and to be fair i dont know what it is, i could have said that they are all a bunch of cunts, at the end of the day we are going to finish fourth which is poor in relation to the teams we are meant to be competing against.

we are not competing against the spurs we are far better than that.

  • 362. Pete  |  July 5th, 2007 at 1:57 pm

The point Im trying to make is I can understand a fan saying oh God I hope we dnt come 4th again, but not Im tired of this crap in relation to a team were both suposed to support. Clearly I dnt expect to have to come onto an Arsenal board and end up defend Arsenal.
My point is clear you said the team is poor, do you still stand by that comment. From the rest of what your saying we are crap as a team, do you believe this to be true?

yes this team is poor it was 25 pts poor last year before the opposition strenthend, and it will be poor again this term. unfurtunately it isnt god who is deciding where we finsh its AW the players and the board.

maybe if i say something like the crap i have read on here today it would rest easier with you, like:

all we need to do is conceed less goals and score more. Fucking genius statements like this. there is no need for you to defend the team because come 4th or 18th we will still both be supports. however i am a dissenting voice in your positive sea of tranquillity. I want more than what we have and you seem happy at our clubs position. where as i see three clubs ahead, you see 89 teams behind.

    such is life.

Poor thats just ridiculous thats my point how can you call this team poor?
It may not be doing as well as wed all like but the majority of us on this blog choose to see the fact that this team beat Man U. Ok so if we are so poor how did we beat Man U twice! How did we score so many goals? the problem we have is bloody obvious we dnt do well against mid-table opposition. Crap Im getting sucked in again, I give up your abs right this team is poor, we are awful totally woeful ok.

lionar, bearing in mind that west ham beat man u (& arsenal) twice & lost to mid table teams, what is your point?

  • 392. Bitter N Twisted  |  July 5th, 2007 at 2:21 pm

    Chocolicious,

a winger 100% its not worth mentioning names but someone who has the ability to go past the defender on a regular basis. they also have to be a proper winger who gets to the by line and crosses if our strikers are to be succsesful, the new boy seems to like to head and bentdler and ade are both big boys. DUDU will struggle if our wingers are both looking to cut inside and fuck about on the edge of the box, he looks like he needs goal mouth action.

I would love if AW suprised us with a signing in that department.

I like the defence, gallas and toure looked good before the injury. and even though ppl slate eboue i like him alot good technical player good going forawrd and clichy improved during last term aswell.

The other player i would like to see is another ball winner, AW making gilberto our captain means this prob aint gonna happen. I dont like gilberto as much as u guys do, he doesnt inspire, doesnt crunch in like others and i can remeber him winning it back in midfield then us breaking up the park and scoring in the way PV did.

but i thought we needed a stiker b4 TH left so theres another position.

what do u think we need

  • 393. lionar  |  July 5th, 2007 at 2:21 pm

you are as in all things of course right Ron as I said I shall stop no matter how bafflingly nonsensical the comment.

  • 403. lionar  |  July 5th, 2007 at 2:24 pm

Ron my point was that we had the potential to beat Man U, West Ham had to play out o their skins/get very luck to achieve those results our players just played to their potential. I was also aluding to the fact that we did very well against top level opersition but not so well against mid-table/shit teams

Bitter N Twisted - Chelsea impressed me that day, but it was a match for them to stay in the title hunt, while we were lacking things to play for and short on form and players.

That might sound like an excuse, but there’s a reason teams like to end the season playing teams with nothing to play for. No matter how you try, you don’t actually give the full 100%.

    382.

I would agree with you but on the winger point what we need is competition not a definite starter unless he is definitely better than Hleb and more on the left also. I am not sure about crossing as that just doesnt seem to be one of our game plans apart from the fullbacks so we probably need them to improve their corssing esp Clichy, Eboue put in some nice ones last yr. Theo did put in a few nice ones so maybe he will shine on the right wing when given the chance but defensively we need Sagna and maybe Davies depending on Big Phil. I ahd high hopes for him but he hasnt pushed on as I thought he would.

  • 428. Bitter N Twisted  |  July 5th, 2007 at 2:36 pm

Those cunts are always signing the players I want to see at Arsenal. Tevez, Torres, Essien…etc. Now they are even more stronger than they were last season while we seem to go into the new campaign with a weaker squad again. I can’t express how much I hate Wenger’s transfer policy with an overall negative net spending.

  • 447. mr serge  |  July 5th, 2007 at 2:52 pm

blog head whats it like to be a spud? very depressing? anoying that you can’t keep up with us whatever you spend? feels like your always treading water? second rate stadium and training ground upset you? how about the abundance of mediocre players that you can’t shift or the fact that if you do somehow get a player that is better than your standard of football you can’t keep them, oh i know its because our kids beat you although we gave you a 2 goal lead, tht’s it

You also may find that by accusing you, I was attempting to find out who the real perpetrator was - a ruse that failed, but a ruse nonetheless.

While you are only defending yourself, I would have hoped you could have taken the moral high ground and not retaliated.

As a blog disccussing Nietzsche, how fucking intellectual do Millwall blogs get?

Tevez has not had a bid from Utd and turned down Inter, but can I ask, did he get a say in moving to West Ham? (Serious question I don’t know the answer to). Is he just shipped where his 3rd party ownership tells him to go? Wouldn’t, after all the legal action last season mean that this is illegal and he has to be bought outright?

If United buy Tevez, I think I may join the doom-mongerer squad.

  • 470. Charlie Nicholas's Mullett  |  July 5th, 2007 at 3:23 pm

I feel sorry for Da Silva if he is being expected to be the new Henry. For starters when Thierry joined the club the likes of Seaman, Dixon, Keown, Adams, Parlour, Petit, Vieira, Overmars, Bergkamp, Ljungberg in his peak were at the club. The comparison between the class of 99 and the squad at the moment is enough to make the rosiest of the rose tinted brigade depressed.

    MOS —

I feel a bit sorry for Adebayor. I think he massively improved last season and was very impressed with his performances toward the end of the season. He works so hard - like Kolo - and seems very loyal (er, a bit like Kolo). He’s our attacking version of Kolo.
However, I’m presuming having spent £8m on Dudu that it’ll be him and RVP starting up front next season. I personally feel Adebayor will be the fall guy. Looking forward to seeing Bendtner, tho. People can fuck off and sick my dick with all this shit about him being average. Lupoli scored a mere 7 goals for Derby last season yet everyone was saying we should keep him. Bendtner was out injured for a third of the season yet still bagged 12 goals. Both teams got promoted, so you can’t say one had more service than the other. Plus Bendtner has scored 3 goals in six games for Denmark, scoring against Poland, Portugal and Germany - they’re not shit teams. Darren Bent - a 16.5M joke - has played twice for England, a better team, against shitty opposition and is yet to score a goal for his country.
I think Bendtner will chip in with his fair share of goals this year. My prediction is 10 in all competitions.

  • 494. Dick (aka Willy)  |  July 5th, 2007 at 4:24 pm

I think we should send Walcott out on loan to another Premiership team next season. Send him to someone like Reading or Fulham, somewhere closeby where he’s gonna play and Arsene can keep an eye on his progress. He’s not ready for the Arsenal first-team yet, not even as a sub. Last season when he played it was like playing with 10 players. He was largely non-existent. His contribution against Blackburn in the FA Cup wasn’t even a fart. He probably broke more sweat applauding the crowd when he got subbed in the second half.
He needs a season of games and we give them to him then it’s at our expense.
What does everyone else think about the boy?

  • 495. Pee Brain  |  July 5th, 2007 at 4:25 pm

what we need is babel for sure i probably think he could be the best signing for years

  • 508. Mos  |  July 5th, 2007 at 4:28 pm

    can we discuss our players?
    namely

    Diaby and Denilson.

i believe Diaby was to play in Vieira’s position and i feel wenger is scratching his head as to where to play him now that Fab is doing well in that position… thoughts…

  • 509. Ron  |  July 5th, 2007 at 4:30 pm

    Walcott is a Liverpool fan.

    Kill him.

The wee upper class posh boy snob.

Get your yourself some working class passion, queer.

  • 510. mr serge  |  July 5th, 2007 at 4:32 pm

diaby is not as defensive minded as viera and alhought he looks a lot like him physically he is definately a different player, dennilson is similar to giba but not exactly the same he is a holder/playmaker a mix of cesc and giba

  • 511. Dick (aka Willy)  |  July 5th, 2007 at 4:33 pm

I’ve made up this song about the tosser who plays (read: does fuck all) on the right side of our lovely, new Emirates pitch:

    His name is Hleb
    He is a pleb
    His bum is red
Because his wife bummed him in the shed
Where he has a twin bed
With a TV playing gay porno movies overhead
And he wears real diddy shinpads on his legs
To match his diddy dick which is the size of a cotten thread
    And he eats fried bread
    Because he is a cunt

  • 512. Mos  |  July 5th, 2007 at 4:33 pm

..so where the heck does he play Diaby? or Denilson..
unless Denilson becomes Gilberto’s successor i fear he might play only in Carling CUp or Fa Cup games and then fuck off after 3 years.

  • 513. Mavis  |  July 5th, 2007 at 4:34 pm

I agree that it would serve Walcott and the club well for him to go out on loan. Maybe untl xmas and see how he’s progressing. If he’s tearing up defences and we seem to be short in wide areas, then by all means bring him back. He certainly needs toughening up though. He’s got the skill and the pace, but neither the nouce or the bulk to take on premiership defences as yet. He seems to be able to cope coming on as a sub though, when opposition defenders are tired, so maybe a role as an impact sub could be another way of introducing him to the team..

  • 514. DeiseGooner  |  July 5th, 2007 at 4:34 pm

Diaby and Denilson as replacements for Gilberto and Cesc respectively.

  • 515. TeamSpirit  |  July 5th, 2007 at 4:36 pm

Thanks Mavis, I can only improve…

  • 516. DeiseGooner  |  July 5th, 2007 at 4:36 pm

Either can come into midfield to make up a central 3 in a 5 m an midfield.

    Rosicky/Eduardu Hleb/VanP
    Diaby/Denilson Gilberto Cesc

  • 517. BengalGooner  |  July 5th, 2007 at 4:37 pm

    Keep Walcott - no loan.

As for Diaby and Denilson i think both are great prospects - were they both captains of their U19s (France+Brazil)?

  • 518. Mavis  |  July 5th, 2007 at 4:37 pm

As for Diaby, I believe he has to be accomodated this season in the team. I think Wenger was hoping he’d play a bigger part last season, but the injury fucked up those plans. He could play alongside Fab in a midfield 3 with Gilberto holding. This change in formation would also mean dumpin Hleb out of the starting 11, which should appease most people on this board!
I think Denilson has another season of Carling and FA Cup matches ahead of him. Obvious talent though he is, barring injuries he won’t get many starts and don’t forget he’s only 19 or something, so hopefully he won’t be too frustrated by this.

  • 519. DeiseGooner  |  July 5th, 2007 at 4:37 pm

    More like this …

    Rosicky/Eduardu —————————-Hleb/VanP
    ……………………Diaby/Denilson Gilberto Cesc

  • 520. Ric-Dizzle  |  July 5th, 2007 at 4:38 pm

FAB doesn’t paly vieira’s postion.. dats wot i think gilberto does. but i think a fab/diaby combo isn’t dat bad. and why does every1 keep banging on about babel. he’s said it wit his two front teeth.. “maybe next year guns”
besides all this players are just smokescreen. i belive wenger is going for luka modric.. attacking midfielder that can play right left centre(and even DM), plays wit both feet and very good defensively..
I dont think we’d get another striker.. wenger would want to use walcott and bendtner as subs when we are winning, and maybe adebayor/edu as subs wen we’re losing/drawing.. and Van Persie as first choice…
i would really love hleb to start many of his games as subs.. so he can build on that mental aspect of his game.. ver gifted player wit a keen football sense but players like dat only look good when players around them are looking good..aka winning team..
gallas/toure combination.. they should use this pre-season to fester an unbreakable bond.. i’d rather toure overlap ocassionally than gallas.. cuz i just like to see dat blackboy go forward!
rosicky — just keep shootin on target and doing those clever flicks..
im not as delighted as i was 3years ago when our squad was somewhat different.. but belive me if we get to sign 1 or 2 more players .. it’ll be exciting to see wot we can do this tyme around.. i think everyone wants a fresh new start. adn letting henry go was one of those things u need to gear ppl up.. THEY CAN DO IT
Arsenal has never and will never beg for supporters so if u feel they’re not doing the right thing for u or they dont have ambition blah blah blah.. dont bitch just burn ur JVC jersey and move on to SAMSUNG

  • 521. Ron  |  July 5th, 2007 at 4:38 pm

    Respectively!!

  • 522. mr serge  |  July 5th, 2007 at 4:38 pm

    as deisgooner just said
denilson is a direct replacement for giba and diaby is one for cesc which does not mean we are selling cesc before you panic we need a sqaud in case he gets injured, then diaby can come in and the style of play will not have to change.

  • 523. Ron  |  July 5th, 2007 at 4:40 pm

“he’s said it wit his two front teeth”

fuck, if he can talk with his teeth, then buy him for fuck sake!!!!!!

  • 524. DeiseGooner  |  July 5th, 2007 at 4:40 pm

positional subs that add something a bit different in their style of play

  • 525. Mos  |  July 5th, 2007 at 4:44 pm

oh okay thanks now i get it

Diaby is part of the Fab 4 and Denilson invented the Carling Cup.

  • 526. Dick (aka Willy)  |  July 5th, 2007 at 4:47 pm

Our first-choice midfield next season, without question, should be:

    Rosicky, Gilberto, Fabregas, Ljungberg

Only Diaby is anywhere near close to knocking on the door. Denilson is a great prospect, but shouldn’t be a first-team regular for now, I don’t think he’s found his indentity within the team yet.

  • 527. BengalGooner  |  July 5th, 2007 at 4:48 pm

Mr serge - Renato looks pretty tasty - i wonder how long before he ends up in spain or Italy.

either way neither of them will be getting work permits.

Has anyone watched the under 20s. I llike vela he has bulked up alot in the past year also.

  • 536. BengalGooner  |  July 5th, 2007 at 4:56 pm

  • 539. Mos  |  July 5th, 2007 at 5:00 pm

  • 541. WillyG  |  July 5th, 2007 at 5:04 pm

I agree with post 494 & 513 as I already said Walcott should be loaned. In the meantime I think that maybe our next new signing is ethier Sagna or even Luka Modric he plays for the same team that Eduardo use to play, and with scouts watching Eduardo alot this seaso,Wenger knows alot about this guy whom the Croatians think is one of their best along Eduardo. An important point is That the Dinamo Zagreb Chairman said as we signed Eduardo that we have been following an other player by the name of Vug….(Coz I forgot his name) but surely most of you remember that their chairman claimed that Wenger asked him his age, weight, height etc……I think taht was cover for this guy MODRIC,might be

  • 542. Dick (aka Willy)  |  July 5th, 2007 at 5:05 pm

Let’s face it, Jol will get his revenge for the Lasagna with a poisoned Canneloni - meaning half our squad will be off on ‘long-term sick’ - meaning our team next season will be:

    Poom
    Hoyte, Senderos, Djourou, Flamini
    Hleb, Song, Randall, Walcott
    Lehmann, Pat Rice

  • 543. Ron  |  July 5th, 2007 at 5:05 pm

  • 571. Dick (aka Willy)  |  July 5th, 2007 at 5:31 pm

CHOCOLICIOUS - I understand there are many others out there with, like yourself, much love for Hleb. I’m not an armchair fan, I attended many games last season and saw with my own eyes, up-close-and-personal what a waste of space Hleb really is.

For everything good he does in a game he gives the ball away. You watch him. Count how many times he loses us posession with either poor control or sloppy passing.

I agree with you, I too would like a wide player who can beat people - which if you’re of the same thinking as me then I do wonder why you think Hleb is that player. He doesn’t beat anyone, he just dances around the ball without actually moving forward - or backward - then either plays a simple pass back to Eboue or tries something overly elaborate and loses possession.

On the rare occassions he does get to the byline, his final ball is shit.

Freddie’s still got it and deserves a chance following an injury-ravaged season last year.

    Ljungberg over Hleb anyday.

  • 572. TeamSpirit  |  July 5th, 2007 at 5:34 pm

Am actually looking forward to the season to start…

expect AW and the lads to actually surprise people

  • 573. Chocolicious  |  July 5th, 2007 at 5:35 pm

ljungberg does not still ahve it, even in the past he never really have much skill just pace but injuries have robbed him of that.
Hleb does beat the man but Arsenal no longer play thrusting football and Hleb does give the ball away more than most players but he also tries to beat a man more than others thus logical the percentage goes up. He regurlarly beats a man creating space for others ie Eboue who usually is the one who delivers. I will agree that his crossign is poor but a normal pass he can do and sets up quite a few chances that are spurned regularly. he does need to shoot more but I believe that to be a confidence issue and a part of his game that both him, AW and everyone knows he needs to improve on.

sell any cunt that is from russia / belarus and still wears fucking gloves..
or from any country glove wearers should fuck off!!
against bolton in the cup denilson was not wearing any, so if a brazilian teenager doesn’t wear them nor should any other kunt

  • 602. Hugh Janus  |  July 5th, 2007 at 6:41 pm

  • 603. Hugh Janus  |  July 5th, 2007 at 6:49 pm

Seems funny how Real reckon they spoke to Wenger after sacking Capello.Manager required - must be able to getrid of star players?

  • 604. Chocolicious  |  July 5th, 2007 at 6:53 pm

Whats wrong with wearign gloves, if its cold its cold. I wear gloves when playing when its chilly if I remember, I am gonna be wearing gloves tonight, granted I am from JA but still I rather not have to worry about the cold.

  • 605. Hugh Janus  |  July 5th, 2007 at 7:03 pm

    Wheres JA? Is that Jamaica?

Just seen pics of the new kit on the site and some lad had 22 Clichy on his shirt, which surely means that’s the number he’ll take. I thought he was a dead cert for the number 3 shirt?

  • 607. goonerexes (Nigeria)  |  July 5th, 2007 at 7:23 pm

    hi all,
i think that a thorough analysys of arsenal brings out a few facts; 1.Amongst the top 4 teams(playing each other) Arsenal was the best side. This probably is because such sides are not afraid of coming out to play arsenal. Many here have talked about Arsenal not suceeding without wingers, to some extent i believe it is flawed, we do not have pacy central mid-fielder to assist the strikers when a cross comes in, leaving the striker alone upfront. However, despite the lack of width and the inability to stretch defences Arsenal has created more chances than any other side bar Manure.Technically the teams problem has been its conversion ratio which has been quite poor. Now, some have said that “dudu” is not a world class signing, this is true but wenger never talked about a world class signing rather a world “class” player. That can come at any cost. dudu”s job is to assist the other striker in increasing the clubs conversion ratio.
Midfield . to me the midfield is o.k Arsenals midfield was hardly dominated “technicaly” last season , physicaly, yes in some games but the boys gain age and strength with each passing year. The ability of the team to get the ball into the opponents d-area is undoubted and the ability to defend is quite good hence teams tend to huff the ball over our midfield towards our strikers.this is where the second problem is.
Defence:To many sloppy goals last season cost the team points(many points). If most people take note they would have noticed how high up the back line was exposing lehman to situations that made him look stupid.A single ball over the midfield and suddenly arsenal is a goal down. Problem? Finishing! Continue in a minute

  • 608. goonerexes (Nigeria)  |  July 5th, 2007 at 7:34 pm

Have’nt you noticed how many goals gilberto scored? If the strikers had done thier job gilderto would have better shielded the back four toure would have been less adventurous and the backside less open.Exempting the liverpool game it top clubs found it more dificult to get chances when we played against them cause we were less adventurous.hopefully dudu introduction will help solve that.
    RIGHT SIDE:
many think this side is fine . i don’t think so many a problen has come from there.Hleb dosen’t track back and loses his bearings when marking.pls give me sagna and eboue any day.Hleb (am sure wenger has noticed) is better as 10,he has great penetrating power and should play… .sometimes in place of fabregas, where he has more options to deliver the ball to.putting hleb on the wings is like making Maradona a winger.it just wont work.
in conclusion, we may be seeing the era of a 4.3.3 formation where the strike option will be …..
    PERSIE……………..ADEBAYOR…………………..DUDU

    Fabregas for vice captain!!!

Should be given to Toure without a second thought.

I can’t find Henry on the list with he 50 best football players in the world but Ronaldo in second place. He might be good but he is as well somehow overrated, we will see if he can repeat his heroics next season. I would put Henry any day above the whinging Portuguese diva, he should be on the list of worst divers together with Drogba and Robben.

  • 616. Rohan  |  July 5th, 2007 at 10:02 pm

Dave, he is there, like number 30. Wait, are u talking about the Times thing? The guy explains that Henry would be top 5 if it weren’t for injuries.

  • 617. Dave  |  July 5th, 2007 at 10:43 pm

    Yeah, it’s the Times thing…

Some people argue that we lost more games with Henry in the team than without him.

  • 622. TH14 aka Fab4  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:13 pm

what a load of crap where the fck i Henry is Kanoute a better player that Fabregas?

  • 623. davey b  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:49 pm

massimo oddo in the top 50 hes shit i watched stewart downing make him look like a fool when he was playing for lazio oddo was supposed to be an international back then and he got ripped apart

as for totti ’s inclusion in being the third best player in the world lol ,ive never heard anything so daft better than messi ,ronaldhino for a player who has constantly failed to live up to his superstar billing world cup after european championships to be placed third is hilarious

as for kanoute [10]i aint even gonna bother with that one lol

    and ronaldo[2] lol

why write a column about such a thing when its clear that you dont have a clue what your talking about totti ,ronaldo, kanoute are in the top ten but ,david villa is outside the top ten and henry is nt even in it

    WHAT A FUCKIN MUPPET

  • 624. davey b  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:53 pm

by the way cassilas might be good one on one situations probably the best in the world but when it comes to handling coming for crosses hes wank ,cech is a better shot stopper ,has better handling and can collect crosses all day long ,

    casillas [18] cech [28]

  • 625. Peter Hill-Wood  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:58 pm

I can tell you all that Arsene is about to sign a Colombian defender, he is in venezuela right now sorting out the details…What’s that? He’s been shot you say? The defender has been shot? Oh, that takes me back, those were the good old days.

  • 626. davey b  |  July 5th, 2007 at 11:59 pm

jolean lescott , was consistent last season seen as your putting oddo on you may aswell put him on aswell

  • 627. davey b  |  July 6th, 2007 at 12:04 am

mate before you get back on the bong why dont you describe your lkist as the most consistent players of 2007 instead of the top 50 footballers because no matter how consistent kanoute is theres no way by any stretch of the imagination that his name and top fifty footballers should come into conjunction

  • 628. VLC Gooner  |  July 6th, 2007 at 1:50 am

I am going to agree with goonerexes (Nigeria) that we could see a 4-3-3 next year. We have excellent central midfielders: Cesc, Rosicky, and Gilberto being first choices, with Hleb, Diaby and possibly Denilson as back ups. Up front I would love to see Obfemi Martins brought in. A front line of three among Martins, Dudu, Van Persie and Adebayor would bring a lot of speed, skill and versatility as they could switch positions during the game. Barcelona have done this to great effect: of course the strikers above are not Ronaldhino, Eto’o and Messi, but still they all have great speed and great movement. As for the Defense, it just needs to be more solid. I really don’t know who could help, except perhaps better coaching.

  • 629. gunnershabz  |  July 6th, 2007 at 7:13 am

it looks scarey with chelsea, liverpool and man utd spending big and leaving us behind but then again its always been like that

^^You must be taking the piss, yeah??

  • 631. Geekov  |  July 6th, 2007 at 8:40 am

    Morning Y’all.

Well, while everyone and their dog go crazy on spending sprees, we are, well, er, not!

I know there’s loads a time left and all that, but I DEMANDED a player a day this week and it just hasn’t happened!

Soooo, Mr Wenger, what are you bloomin well up to fella?

According to the rags, we won’t be signing bakari La Sagna coz Flim-Flam sez he’s happy to play righback!!!! Go figure.

Seeing as how we aint been linked to anyone lately, I will soon be straing my own Arsenal transfer rumours.

    You have been warned.

    As you were
