Eduardo is more Reyes than Henry
0 guns July 3rd, 2007
First of all, forget the £16m figure the press are lazily banding around. The price is just under £8m - still a record fee for a player from the Croatian league. But Eduardo is no ordinary player, with 34 goals in 32 games last season, and a staggering 71 in 100 Dinamo appearances. Add to that 7 goals in 12 caps for his adopted country, and it’s a mighty impressive record.
However, it’s worth remembering that the Croatian league is much, much weaker than the Barclays Premier League (as it is now known). There is an element of risk in this purchase. But if you listen to current Croatia manager Slaven Bilic’s prediction of a few years back, Eduardo’s potential is evident:
“There is a boy who is very special. He came from Rio when he was 15, and you could put him now in the team at Manchester United and you wouldn’t know he wasn’t from there. Believe me, he will do things.”
Well, it’s not Manchester United, it’s Arsenal, and we’re very glad of it.
Eduardo is slight but quick, with a strong left-foot. He usually plays upfront, but has played wide-left in a 4-3-3. Like Reyes, he’s comfortable in either position, and could give us the width on that flank we lacked last season. But as his past shows, what he really brings is goals. All sorts of goals. This quote from an interview is particularly promising:
What is your favorite type of goal, and least favorite type of goal?
I actually like the most when the ball ricochets off me and goes in. Nobody’s expecting it, not even me, so it’s very nice to score like that. My least favorite is probably one-on-one chances. Everybody expects to see the ball in the back of the net, so if you score - no big deal, if you miss - you missed a sitter.
I can’t imagine many of our current players giving that answer.
Interestingly, Arsene remains silent. I’m curious to hear what he says about Eduardo, to try and guage whether or not he’ll be bringing in another striker alongside the Croatian. Although da Silva might turn out to be a top player, the idea of him, Bendtner, Adebayor, and van Persie as a front line does not fill me with confidence - I’d prefer someone closer to the Henry mould, with pace and finesse, to add to the mix. Let’s wait and see: nobody expected Eduardo to sign. Who knows what more could happen this week?
On the day that da Silva arrived, Arsenal.com finally remembered that we’d sold Jeremie Aliadiere.
Finally, a reader sent me this pic, which bizarrely seems rather different from the Barca-style one glimpsed in a Scandinavian press release. Hm.

Fucking “fans” on here earlier saying Wenger should be sacked because he blew all the money from the Henry transfer on an unknown player.
Idiots.

It’s a thin line between genius and madness. The Eduardo signing will be one or the other, and a lot of that will depend on RvP’s ability to replace Henry’s production.

i was actually expecting Wenger to sign another Brazilian in Eastern Europe : Vagner Love.

Love the comment from the player himself about his take on goal scoring, he’ll put away a few goals with that attitude! I really hope we do try and sign another player, preferably a winger with explosive pace to stretch teams. Is Sagna gonna sign?

A new Reyes? So yet again Arsene has signed a striker but intends to farm him out on the wing? Yay. Happy days. How about signing a natural winger or…a Proper striker to signal our intent? No point moaning anyway fuck it. Not as if this board is ever gonna act like a big club any time soon. The sale of Thierry Henry for such little dough remains the biggest disgrace. As for Cesc I am already fed up of his cunt of an agent and especially, Cesc himself. We all know what he’s doing. Keeping the fans sweet until next summer cos he knows he fucked-up mega in that tv interview (3 times he said ‘I think it was a mistake signing that new Arsenal 8-year conract’. Cunt). And once summer comes after we complete yet another hilarious season of trash he leaves to join Henry in the showers and rub Radox all over his butt-cheeks. Joke
13. infamous | July 3rd, 2007 at 12:33 am
he is neither like henry or reyes. Have you seen the videos on youtube of the types of goals he scores he is pretty a much a “fox in the box” type player who can get the odd henry type goal from the edge of the box. He can also header something henry is practically incapable of unless Eboué puts on his head. Da Silva will bring a new dimension to our attack which is a finisher, after all of the missed chances last season where nobody was following up or in support he can now be that player to help us get the goals we deserve.

well i didnt hear anything about berbatov before he came to pl and now everyone wants a piece.
with that goal scoring record u have to have game. and what was our main problem last season? putting the ball in the back of the net.
Welcome to the ranks Eduardo!

he’s really good player, plays great in national team but I would not consider him like proven player for the club like Arsenal. He will deliver, I’m sure of it but really can’t see him like someone who will replace players like Henry, Bergkamp…NOT
But Wenger knows better than me and I trust him…
18. Bobby7 | July 3rd, 2007 at 12:50 am
Don’t know about you guys, but if we can sign Tevez (ok, it’s looking very unlikely, but we do have some cash), our team could look pretty good:
—————–Lehmann/Fabianski
Sagna/Eboue/Hoyte–Toure/Djourou–Gallas/Senderos–Clichy/Traore
—————-Gilberto/Song
—Cesc/Denilson–Diaby/Flamini(?)–Rosicky/Hleb
————Rvp/Theo———–Tevez /Freddie/Vela
————-Ade/Eduardo/Bendtner
19. gooner | July 3rd, 2007 at 12:50 am
who had heard of henry or viera before arsene made them world class?
20. Bobby7 | July 3rd, 2007 at 12:53 am
For some reason, this signing strangely reminds me of Birmingham signing DJ Campbell. No idea why; I’m sure Dudu is of much finer pedigree than that non-leaguer.
21. Bobby7 | July 3rd, 2007 at 12:54 am
“who had heard of henry or viera before arsene made them world class?”
Well, Henry was already a household name having top scored for the world cup winners and moved to Juve for £10m. Most football fans knew of him…

“well i didnt hear anything about berbatov before he came to pl and now everyone wants a piece.”
He was pretty well-known, having been probably the best forward in Germany for a few seasons. He even scored the odd classy CL goal.

boys i’m a Croat and go 4 the gunners!!!
I am over the moon with this signing.
Trust me he will be big within a year or 2.
A fantastic finisher as he has proven for club and country something we needed at Emirates last season.
Da Silva was linked to Sevilla,Psv, scum tottenham and oil rich russian clubs.
Give him time he will show all the fans it was a bargain buy!!

What I’m 100% sure is that “Dudu” will bring in those runs that we so much need. Finishing is his best asset. I suppose this was a better situation than not signing anyone.
I firmly believe Arsenal are in for Tevez. Mark my words: we are in the driving seat the get him on loan for this season, then sort out a permanent stay with Kia at the end of the season.
Sagna is close to signing too. Sagna’s signing is a tactical one. We will be seeing Eboue in midfield tussles more. Most of our defensive problems happened from the Eboue’s flank last season.
Sagna will eventually be converted to a CB.
Tevez will come in at the end of this month. I have my clues.
29. Arsene Apologist | July 3rd, 2007 at 1:31 am
I wouldn’t take his international record seriously; they’re always inflated when you’ve got weak opposition. He’s played against England, after all.

DEFIANTLY. now to get sagna and a left winger!
COME ON THE DUDU!!!
34. Bobby7 | July 3rd, 2007 at 2:16 am
I love the fact that we’ve gone from being fucked to being potential champions on the strength of a virtually unknown signing! Just goes to show how needlessly depressed everyone was in the 1st place. The truth lies somewhere in the middle; we have fantastic talent and potential, but Man U have really improved a squad that was 20odd points better than us last season. Hopefully we’ll make actual progress this season.
35. Radical Dreamer | July 3rd, 2007 at 2:20 am
Da Silva is more of Reyes? I think it’s a replacement for Aliedere or Reyes… Replacement for Henry is yet to come… Walcott? Babel? Hmmm….

daymee (28),
Please be cearful what claims you make on your comments, Arsenal fans are very vulnerable right now, you cannot be so affirmative on what you are not sure. If you have so much clues, WHY DID YOU NOT GIVE US A CLUE ON DUDU’S SIGNING? Lol.
“Wenger knows”
38. shady gunner | July 3rd, 2007 at 2:55 am
hes neither reyes or henry , frist of all he scores more goals then reyes , and hes kind of a goal poacher, you gt it wrong mate . im sure or atleast i hope we’re geting another striker.
39. wengerwillfindamillionhenry.co.uk | July 3rd, 2007 at 3:28 am
I’m not sure about him. Not excited after seeing his vid or reading his comments. I’m not sure that he’s a Arsenal player in the sense that he enjoys beautiful football. I know we weren’t sh*t hot last season even though we played beautifully and it helps to get a poacher to simply finish the job for us.
But I’m just not sure… I still want to want beautiful goals from Arsenal, not bundled in ones, or “ricochets off me” ones. I miss the times when the commentators will say “Do they do ordinary??” when they speak of our goals.
I want us to win. But beautifully. That’s the difference between us and Chelsea.
It’s early days to judge him yet but I’m hoping he improves.
40. gooner-aksf | July 3rd, 2007 at 4:32 am
never heard of him before, just like AW’s trend in transfer market. i just hope that, with AW, anything can happen to this player in future. but it may not be next season.
41. Spanish Fry | July 3rd, 2007 at 5:12 am
I want us to win. But beautifully. That’s the difference between us and Chelsea.
That’s fair enough but every team needs balance and at the moment our squad doesn’t have it. Hopefully Dudu’s scoring ability can rectify the situation.
Arsenal will always try and score beautiful goals under Wenger but the fact is that too often we get close to a beautiful goal only to see a striker miss the target or shoot straight at the keeper and don’t have anyone following in to score the messy goals.
Messy can be beautiful, in it’s own way. We played beautifully with Pires in the side but his typical goal was an empty net tap-in from a goalkeeper’s parry. Don’t think Wenger will adandon Arsenal’s attacking style on the basis of this signing. We have plenty of other creative players to play beautifully.
42. Radical Dreamer | July 3rd, 2007 at 5:33 am
No one can replace Legendary Henry… Henry is Henry… There’s only one Thierry Henry… I believe AW wil get a right striker to fill the space that Henry has left behind.
43. Arsene Wenger | July 3rd, 2007 at 5:37 am
Stop using the words “fake brazilian”. He is not a fake goals scorer… Dont give football a bad name with that kind of attitude… What a shame
44. Ugandan Gooner | July 3rd, 2007 at 7:33 am
Hmm, one morniing it is all gloom and doom, 3 hours later an unknown Brazillian Croat is signed, everyone checks him out on youtube. Now we are in place to judge him based on what we ’saw’. Sure, he is a poacher, good finisher, but whether the videos are slowed or the Croatian league is slow am not sure, they were just jogging in games! Again, the line between doom and boom is really thin
ONE MORE STRIKER, WINGER, DEFENDER!!!!!!!!!
45. GunnerShabz | July 3rd, 2007 at 7:42 am
i ot a feeling we maybe going to use the 4-3-3 formation
eduardo, adeboyor, van persie up front
or maybe we got another striker lined up
it could be martins, anelka, at the moment i dont know… wenger just pulls out something out of nowhere
but bakari sagna will sign this week £6.75m
i heard andres guardardo from mexico is a target
and the sun reported another CM for £5m
46. Dudu That Voodoo | July 3rd, 2007 at 8:06 am

Still some wanting to slate the guy before they’ve even seen him play for us.

And GS, why do you think he’s a Reyes replacement? Whay are you basing that on? Coz he’s left footed? Nah, he’s the foxy box type player fella, for sure.

Sagna, was voted best defender in French football. He can play as right back, left back and as centre back.
52. srinathr | July 3rd, 2007 at 8:32 am
finally Arsenal fans are jumpiing out of their seats, after a new signing atleast it lifts the gloom out of the club
53. Ash | July 3rd, 2007 at 8:34 am
I didnt want an out an out striker to be honest. 2 half strikers was my preference. Eduardo is more Reyes as you’ve pointed, Reyes on his day is one of the best finishers but he doesnt have the mentallity to score on a regular basis. This guy has a great attitude and he will improve under Arsene. I remember him causing us afew problems when we played them. Arsene will play with one striker upfront in Europe so I dont think we will see another striker. We now need a goal scoring winger. I watched Vela last night and I dont think he is much better than Walcott. He looks more of a striker. We should try and swap Reyes with Maxi of Athletico
54. srinathr | July 3rd, 2007 at 8:35 am
really hope that da silva shines for Arsenal, AW needs to stuff some shit in all his detractors mouth especially those spuds
55. TopCat | July 3rd, 2007 at 8:42 am
Reading a few posts from yesterday.
Fake Brazilian/Gelbs/Marcus and any other allies of these guys…. Im going to try and speak to you rationally. I don’t know you, but you seem to hate everything that Arsene Wenger does and believe that he is destroying Arsenal. If this is not a correct assessment, please correct me.
I respect your opinion, I really do, you are entitled to it as much as I am mine.
We as individuals have no power over the club, sure we can not renew our 1 season ticket, but it will simply be bought by another and all we will do is miss the the chance to watch the games live, they wont miss us.
You can refuse to buy a kit, refuse to watch the team on telly, but again, who would really miss you?
You can write a very strong letter to the club or protest outside it, but even these are at best fairly futile.
You seem to have such a deep rooted hatred inside of you that it must be eating you up and with no output available to channel this hatred, it must be very frustrating.
The thing is, you are one person, maybe 2, maybe 50 or even100 in a sea of pro Arsene Wenger Arsenal supporters, people who have supported the club for the last 5, 10, 15, 20+ years and have seen everything that Arsene Wenger has done for this club - while that might not translate as having won every trophy available, the club has been revolutionised and without him, we would still be pumping high long balls to a lanky striker and playing boring football.
There are 1000s of clubs you can choose to support, if you choose to support Arsenal, wake up and understand that Wenger is not going anywhere and all you are doing by ranting is frustrating yourself further. You are not changing a thing about how the club is run and never will.
I am not blinded by anything, or rose tinted. I am just trying to explain to you that your ranting is futile.
I can’t help but note that a great man would take definitive and desisive action to achieve his aims, while you simply post hatred on a messageboard.
….says it all really.
Sorry for the long post.

I just read that there was a 14mn bid for Dani Alves. If that is the range people are trying for, why don’t we go for him? I don’t care what position, he is quality, and I thought bids would be in excess of 20mn.

£26m for torres - no room for mistake. I’m not sure the price tag worries Benitez- he wanted the player and the board backed him -question is how much more can pool spend - i’m guessing not a lot more. As for us i think we’ve got quite a bit in the transfer kitty which we should use to buy a winger and will also use to buy Sagna (was he French player of the year?)- can this guy play in central defence?
74. AFC | July 3rd, 2007 at 10:01 am
Sagna can play right/left back and central defence. Will be good cover when the African Nations kicks off. Also Djorou maybe loaned out too.

I just wanted to say thanks for keeping me amused for the last 6 months or so and for helping me to not have to resort to working to help pass the time. I wish it’d been a better time for Arsenal but then we wouldn’t have had the fun of repelling Panic Monkey attacks on this board.
Keep the faith all. Arsenal till I die.

i dont think djourou would be loaned out but i seriously think this mightbe senderos’ last season if no improvements are made.. very good defender but lacks the pace for the premiership. might be good in villareal like cygan tho..
sagna looks like d real deal.. pacey, versatile and shows lots of strength in tackles..
eboue might be playing up-front in right midfield, he played there once in a carling cup match wasnt so bad to me… if he can put those crosses in for da silva’s head or van persie’s wonder volley/taekwondo kick!

I think Adebayor could play on the left wing as well. he often liked to drift out there when playing up front last season. hard working player and can beat a man, also quite pacy due to his long legs.

Incidentally,Gazzup- Ade did drift out left a lot but I didn’t actually like it when he did as in my mind it seemed like he was trying to copy Thierry and he just didn’t have the same ability to take on a full back.
85. Rohan | July 3rd, 2007 at 10:54 am
Hill-Wood says that there is stuff going on behind the scenes, which means transfers, so we should expect about 2 more.
1) defender, probably Sagna, although I don’t know a lot about him.
2) midfelder if we place Dudu up top. Tevez would be my first choice but since Arsene doesn’t splash cash around, this won’t happen. We will see.
86. TopCat | July 3rd, 2007 at 10:58 am
I very interesting comment was made on here yesterday re what Da Silva brings to the team - the obvious thing being a goalscorer, but as yet that is unproven in the English League.
The unobvious is that it lifts pressure away from Big Ade from being a out and out goal scorer.
Van Persie will score goals, he is a great player in the making. Big Ade is more of a hold up man, he can chip in with some goals too sure, but he will never be a 25-30 goals a season man.
Now the pressure on him to be that has been lifted he can look set up Da Silva and RVP instead, which I believe much better suits his style of play.
Cant remember who said that yesterday - but very good point.

FG,
Good luck. Shame to see a true fan away from here…..
88. Falklands Gooner | July 3rd, 2007 at 11:03 am
If we played RVP and EDS (Am I the first to use that?) up front there’s a lot of potential goals in them but I would wonder whether either would be great at winning the ball and holding it up like Ade can. I’m really intrigued as to Wengers ideal starting line up up front, whether he sticks with RVP (Who has to be on there I think) and Ade or brings in EDS.
89. TopCat | July 3rd, 2007 at 11:04 am
85.
When is there never “stuff going on behind the scenes” at Arsenal??!!
Sagna - 6m - means our defence has quality cover when needed. Who knows, given time Sagna may even claim a starting place.
Which leaves us anything from 10 - 20m quid left.
Unlikely we will buy Tevez - as he would cost 9m for a 1 years LOAN and that would be lunacy,
Im sure Wenger is aware of the width problem - and will be looking at some relatively unknown wingers - probably south american - and we will make this signing once the Copa America is over.
Which gives the team a good month to train together and get ready for the new season.
90. Falklands Gooner | July 3rd, 2007 at 11:05 am
Cheers dolomite, I’ll be hopefully be back before too long anyway.
91. TopCat | July 3rd, 2007 at 11:05 am
88.
Or plays Da Silva up front, Ade behind and RVP on the wing… possabilities are endless with our players - any combination can theoretically work!
92. Falklands Gooner | July 3rd, 2007 at 11:10 am
Interesting TC, but with Ade playing ‘In the hole’ that kinda relies on him playing the ball through for the forward and playing the killer pass, which (Much as I like him) is not his best skill. Although his all round game is improving I still thnk he’s at his best right up front giving the centre backs problems.
Also, I think you have to have your most lethal player up front and that has to be RVP at the moment as he’s proven at this level, although I’m sure he’d do a decent job on the wing.
93. rocky pires | July 3rd, 2007 at 11:10 am
good luck FG.
What about Saviola, is he not the proven striker we would like?
my one concern is that i dont see Arsene buying another striker cause hell want to give Nic Bendtner a chance . Also 5 strikers isnt really AW style. Most we ever had in terms of quality were Suker, Henry,Bergkamp,Kanu oh and Chris Wreh.
Also i think Theo will bust onto the scene big time.

96. dinology16 | July 3rd, 2007 at 11:14 am
true, TopCat you’re right, our players can always interchange between positions which is something that not all teams can do!! (except barca though…)
as for ur prev post, south american wingers can be a gd choice after all, btw i watched a copa america match recently, i think this mexican winger call nery castillo looks pretty decent, full of tricks, good dribbling skills with a bit of pace

98. WillyG | July 3rd, 2007 at 11:19 am
I have a good feeling about this Eduardo Da Silva.I`m now expecting Sagna to be next…..About Torres, sure he is a great player but I think Liverpool paid too much and true he does not have a bad goalscoring record but he did score alot of penalties.Does anyone know something about Sagna?

101. India-Gunner | July 3rd, 2007 at 11:21 am
Dudu is more like the classic England strikers like Robbie Flower and Gary Lineker. From YouTube you can see he is totally difference from TH14. TH14 scored majority of his goals outside the penalty box and Dudu all from 6 - 10 yards (whatever showed in YouTube). In modern football he is more like Andy Johnson or van Horseface. I reckon AW must be regretted he didn’t buy Andy Johnson last season so this season we have Croatzilian version of Andy Johnson. I wish we could have Dudu last season to put away all the chances we created. I believe AW already started the balancing act. More to come on the left wing.
102. TopCat | July 3rd, 2007 at 11:21 am

I appreciate that TC, kinda like us letting Edu take a penalty in his last home match for us against everton…
104. dinology16 | July 3rd, 2007 at 11:26 am
i’ve asked abt sagna in my prev post as well, from posts by other gooners, he can play anywhere across defence n he juz got the french player of the year, btw if we get sagna, how much do u guys think he will cost? 6 -8million pounds? possible? btw, i hope dudu isn’t as expensive as the media made it up which is 24 million euro, which is similar to henry’s transfer fee!!
a player of henry’s calibre only cost 16 million pounds for barca, while a young talent named dudu cost as much?!?!
but then, if he does play better than torres (if he joins the reds at the reported feel of 26,5 million pounds), i think dudu’s transfer fee is after all worthwhile!
105. WillyG | July 3rd, 2007 at 11:29 am
Papers say we are still in for Anelka and Martins, while an other claims we might sign C.Gordon of Hearts which is very unlikely…..I don`t know weather Wenger will sign another Striker but when we did sell Anelka he brought Henry and Suker.
106. TopCat | July 3rd, 2007 at 11:34 am
104.
Da Silva cost 6-8m. End of
Sagna 6-7m accoring to reports.
The Da Silva confusion was due to a poor translation - Zagreb spokesman was misquoted - they meant to say “Arsenal have bought Da Silva using some of the the 16m they got for Henry” - instead it was reported as Arsenal have used the Henry money to buy Da Silva
And mugs all over the world swallowed it and called for Wengers head on a plate.
107. TopCat | July 3rd, 2007 at 11:36 am
105.
Would be strange if we brought in another striker - AW knows we need a wide player and a defender - so to bring in another striker (unless a youngster) would be surprising.

Just imagine sitting in traffic on your way to work and hearing
this.
Many Sydneyfolks DID hear this on the FOX FM morning show in
Sydney.
The DJs play a game where they award winners great prizes.
The game is called”Mate Match”. The DJs call someone at work
and ask if they are married or seriously involved with someone. If
the contestant answers “yes”, he or she is then asked 3
random yet highly personal questions. The person is also asked to
divulge the name of their partner (with phone number) for
verification.
If their partner answers those same three questions correctly,
they both win the prize. One particular game, however, several
months ago made the City of Big Shouldersdrop to its knees with
laughter and is possibly the funniest thing I’ve heard yet.
Anyway, here’s how it all went down:
DJ: “Hey! This is Ed on FOX-FM. Have you ever heard of ‘Mate
Match’?”
Contestant: (laughing) “Yes, I have.”
DJ: “Great! Then you know we’re giving away a trip to the Gold
Coast if you win. What is your name? First only please.”
Contestant: “Brian.”
DJ: “Brian, are you married or what?”
Brian: “Yes.”
DJ: “Yes? Does that mean you’re married or you’re what?”
Brian: (laughing nervously) “Yes, I am married.”
DJ: “Thank you. Now, what is your wife’s name? First
only please.”
Brian: “Sara.”
DJ: “Is Sara at work, Brian?”
Brian: “She is gonna kill me.”
DJ: “Stay with me here, Brian! Is she at work?”
Brian: (laughing) “Yes, she’s at work.”
DJ: “Okay, first question - when was the last time you had
sex?”
Brian: “She is gonna kill me.”
DJ: “Brian! Stay with me here!”
Brian: “About 8 o’clockthis morning.”
DJ: “Atta boy, Brian.”
Brian: (laughing sheepishly) “Well…”
DJ: “Question #2 - How long did it last?”
Brian: “About 10 minutes.”
DJ: “Wow! You really want that trip, huh? No one would ever
have said that if a trip wasn’t at stake.”
Brian: “Yeah, that trip sure would be nice.”
DJ: “Okay. Final question. Where did you have sex at
8 o’clock this morning?”
Brian: (laughing hard) “I, ummm, I, well…”
DJ: “This sounds good, Brian. Where was it at?”
Brian: “Not that it was all that great, but her mom is
staying with us for a couple of weeks…”
DJ: “Uh huh…”
Brian: “…and the Mother-In-Law was in the shower at the
time.”
DJ: “Atta boy, Brian.”
Brian: “On the kitchen table.”
DJ: “Not that great?? That is more adventure than the
previous hundred
times I’ve done it. Okay folks, I will put Brian on
hold, get this wife’s work number and call her up. You listen to this.”
3 minutes of commercials follow.
DJ: “Okay audience; let’s call Sarah, shall we?”
(touch tones…..ringing….)
Clerk: “Kinko’s.”
DJ: “Hey, is Sarah around there somewhere?”
Clerk: “This is she.”
DJ: “Sarah, this is Ed with FOX-FM. We are live on the air
right Now and I’ve been talking with Brian for a couple of hours
now.”
Sarah: (laughing) “A couple of hours?”
DJ: “Well, a while now. He is on the line with us. Brian knows
not to give any answers away or you’ll lose. Sooooooo… do
you know the rules of ‘Mate Match’?”
Sarah: “No.”
DJ: “Good!”
Brian: (laughing)
Sarah: (laughing) “Brian, what the hell are you up to?”
Brian (laughing) “Just answer his questions honestly, okay?
Be completely honest.”
DJ: “Yeah yeah yeah. Sure. Now, I will ask you 3 questions,
Sarah. If your answers match Brian’s answers, then the both of you will
be off to the Gold Coast for 5 days on us.
Sarah: (laughing) “Yes.”
DJ: “Alright. When did you last have sex, Sarah?”
Sarah: “Oh God, Brian….uh, this morning before Brian went
to work.”
DJ: “What time?”
Sarah: “Around 8 this morning.”
DJ: “Very good. Next question. How long did it last?”
Sarah: “12, 15 minutes maybe.”
DJ: “Hmmmm. That’s close enough. I am sure she is trying to
protect his manhood. We’ve got one last question,Sarah. You are one
question away from a trip to the Gold Coast. Are you ready?”
Sarah: (laughing) “Yes.”
DJ: “Where did you have it?”
Sarah: “OH MY GOD, BRIAN!! You didn’t tell them that, did
you?”
Brian: “Just tell him, honey.”
DJ: “What is bothering you so much, Sarah?”
Sarah: “Well…”
DJ: Come on Sarah…..where did you have it?
Sarah: “Up the arse…..”
After a long pause, the DJ said, “Folks, we need to take a
station break”

“We are delighted to have signed Eduardo Da Silva. He has great qualities and will integrate very well into our style of football. He is a very good finisher and although he is predominantly a striker, he is a very adaptable player.
“I have known about him for a while but his performances against us in last year’s Champions League really showed what a dangerous player he is. Da Silva is a pacy, intelligent player. Also, he is hardworking and has a very good team ethic to his game.

There is definatly a number of options open to us with or without the signings of Sagna and Tevez.
Lehmann/Fabianski
Sag/Ebo/Hoy–Toure/Djou–Gallas/Send- Cli/Nordtviedt/Traore
Denilson/Gilberto
Ebou/Rosicky/Theo - Denilson/Diaby/Cesc– Hleb/Freddie/Tevez
Rvp/Ade Rvp/Eduardo
I think we are in for a fantastic season and think Eduardo is exactly what we need… Bring on the fodder!!!!

Donald Rumsfeld briefed the American President this morning. He told Bush that three Brazilian soldeiers were killed in Iraq. To everyone’s amazement, all of the colour ran from Bush’s face, then he collapsed onto his desk, head in his hands, visibly shaken, almost whimpering. Finally he composed himself and asked Rumsfeld “Just how many is a brazillion?
212. ron | July 3rd, 2007 at 2:10 pm

213. Falklands Gooner | July 3rd, 2007 at 2:13 pm

Sevilla dream
“I would really like to stay at Dinamo but I score all the time and in that situation it’s hard to avoid bids from other clubs. I think about Europe very often, about big clubs, but sometimes I am sad when I score a goal for Dinamo, because with every new goal I move a little bit further from Zagreb.” As for his ideal destination, he is emphatic. “Sevilla [FC] are my favourite club! They are great club and very soon they will be big like Real Madrid [CF] and [FC] Barcelona. If I got an offer from them, it would be my priority no matter what other club is bidding for me.” Said our new signing Eduardo Da Silva last season…
222. Mos | July 3rd, 2007 at 2:39 pm

224. TopCat | July 3rd, 2007 at 2:42 pm
Thats funny lionar, he is also reported as saying:
“I want to progress in my career, but it will be hard to leave Dinamo Zagreb after eight years.
“I will miss the club, the guys…I will be back one day, but now I want to accept a new challenge.”
What does he mean he will be back one day? Like in 2 years?
Am surprised none of the D&Gs picked up on that one!
225. lionar | July 3rd, 2007 at 2:43 pm

From the female perspective, I always had the most enormous crush on Shairo, off Starfleet… and mark off battle of the planets.
250. lionar | July 3rd, 2007 at 3:24 pm
I reckon we all go and look for the most obscure yet full of hidden potential left wingers we can find and discuss their relative merits
251. Mos | July 3rd, 2007 at 3:25 pm
if wenger tries to make Eduardo a left winger im going to cry.

255. Cuzzy | July 3rd, 2007 at 4:34 pm
do u no one thing - trying to second guess arsene wenger is really anybodies game. The guy is such an unconventional thinker when it comes to football that he never stops supprising me. Everyone expected him to get rid of the back 4 but he kept them all past their sell by dates and was even accused of relying to much on them. Then there was Viera + Petit axis that tore up the prem (petit was a defender, viera def mid), then every manager wanted thier own viera - how many new viera’s have graced the prem since - then it was givin Anelka wrights place, giving Henriy anelka place, playing wingers at fullbacks, turning central player to wide players, telling the press his team can go unbeaten then the unbeaten season, players diets, boozing culture etc.
There is no point even speculating who we buy next cause since he been here i have never guessed who he will buy next.
Even when it was clear we were getting cambell from the spuds, i always thought he would go to Barca but still was shocked when we got him
