Next week had better be better than this one
0 guns June 30th, 2007
Monday: Thierry Henry leaves
Tuesday: Nothing happens
Wednesday: Nothing happens
Thursday: Nothing happens
Friday: Rumours emerge that Wenger will extend his contract and appoint Grimandi. Excitement builds. Then nothing happens.
Wicked. At least the weather is good.
Oh.
When/if Arsene ever comes back from holiday, he’s got plenty to do. Arseblogger makes the point that when/if Gilles Grimandi is appointed Director of Football, he’ll be keen to make his mark by bringing in a few players when/if we ever have any money.
Hopefully I’ll have to more to write next week, when/if anything ever happens.

Spurs are now ready to raid Chelsea for Diarra and SWP. Both shit but where the fuck are they getting their money from for a team that didn’t even get any CL revenue etc?! We are seriously gonna be fucked next season.

Why should Arsene worry who is coming into the Arsenal squad next season, when he will be the coach at Real Madrid.

Martins, Sagna and Babbel next week - that should do. Why is everyone so pessimistic and miserable? We already have an excellent team which will move up a gear now Thierry’s shadow has gone
8. Gelbs | June 30th, 2007 at 1:25 pm
Torres deal almost done to Liverpool. Whilst that fucking idiot Wenger sells our best player and striker, has 2 weeks off “well deserved holiday” after another shower of shite season whilst other managers doing the business. Wenger prolly say he wasn’t on vacation, but working. On getting some shit youth players in. Funny how Liverpool splashing the cash on Torres and not bothered about getting some 16 year old instead huh?

14. Gelbs | June 30th, 2007 at 1:38 pm
Yeah like you’d be complaining if we signed him. Torres still better than 3 or 4 of our strikers. WHo’d you rather have? Bentner, Adebayor or Torres? Makes me laugh. As soon as our rivals get in decent players, they are all of a sudden “Shit. Won’t hack the PL.” etc etc. It fucks me off, but the same time I am enjoying it. Love being correct and just laughing at this shit we have become. 60 million quid on ticket revenue, Sky money, CL revenue, 30 million on players sold. We could have between 60 - 80 million to spend in theory. Not saying we should splash it, but needs to be spent wisely and decently. Total disgrace. We will finish 7th next season. At best lol.
15. Dippy | June 30th, 2007 at 1:39 pm

12. celestine agu - Lol! Signing four new strikers would be nice but that is just fantasy-land … of course tevez is the ideal player for us given his ability and gritty play. If AW does sign the guy I think we can genuinely be excited about that. Ideally we do need about four players but I am as baffled as everyone else as to why we are going in for Sagna which is not to question his ability, maybe he’s the best right-back in the world? Who knows! Why do we need a right back more than a left back or central defender? Baffles me. Hopefully next week will see _something_ happening, either some word on the new appointment or AWs contract or … dare we think it? A signing! This is getting very very boring.
19. Geek | June 30th, 2007 at 1:48 pm
Liverpool just signed a 16 year old from Barcelona….that sounds familiar!. Its Benitez trying to be Wenger. All noise about Torres, all he could come up with is a 16 year old
20. 4everaspur | June 30th, 2007 at 1:49 pm
What do you mean next week had better be better than this one.
I think this has been a good week…. we get new players you get pissed off.
We get stronger squad.. you continue to go down the crapper.
next week will get better we get Kaboul… you lose wenger..Ha! Ha! Ha!
21. Dave | June 30th, 2007 at 1:49 pm
Tevez is a smart guy to hold on, the Copa will raise his price further (he scored yesterday) and he will have even more offers in two weeks time. I don’t care how much he cost, Wenger should get him at any price. He is a worldclass player and has already adapted to the Premier League. He has a great shot, is a clinical finisher and has plenty of energy and force and don’t forget he is only 23 and will get even better. I could see him scoring 20 or more goals in the league for us. But I think this is wishful thinking because Wenger won’t pay £25m for him.
22. Geek | June 30th, 2007 at 1:51 pm
Sign Tevez and Anelka and will be back with the premiership Trophy. The King has died(Henry) all hail the King(Tevez)
23. 4everaspur | June 30th, 2007 at 1:56 pm

Gelbs,
Up til now I’ve just taken the piss out of your constant pessimistic comments, but now you’re pissing me off!
You’re a twat!
I don’t like saying that about a fellow Gooner, but I don’t think you are a Gooner. You stink of Spud. The smell emanates from your posts.
I’m all for constructive criticsm. We do need some changes to the squad with new players being bought in. But your negative attitude makes you sound like a fucking prick.
I’ve literrally NEVER heard you EVER say anything positive!!! All I ever hear from you is “Wenger’s a wanker and Gelbs says he should do this….”. Last pre-season you were saying that we’d not get anywhere near a CL place. Admittedly things didn’t turn out brilliantly, but what with all the persistant injuries we had, we did ok!
At a time when the team and supporters do seem quite down, the last thing we need is your constant stream of total negative shit.
Frankly, you dirty Spud, you’re a fucking idiot and should go down to Shite Hart Lane with the rest of your kind!!!
I thank you!!!

Lol. Pessimistic comments. Since when has realism become pessimism? I have said plenty of positives last season, only thing is, quite simply, the negatives outweight the positives. You are the twat. Not I. All our rivals strengthening whilst we are doing nothing. Lol compare us to the Chapman/Nike quote. “Never stand still.” That is EXACTLY what we are doing. Can’t wait for next season. Albeit for the wrong reasons lol. Even if we got Tevez I wouldn’t change my opinion. We still won’t win the league. Shit midfield.

Only people that are made to look the fools are the ones dishing it out and “taking the piss” out of someone like me who states the facts, someone who is right and tells it like it is. Amazes me how you can take the piss out of something that is 100 per cent correct.

Gelbs you seem to love it if you can criticize our club…So we will finish 7th next season. Ok i will have that in my mind after the season. And if it will be like that who carers? I am an Arsenal fan no matter if they play for first, 7th place or fight a relegaton battle. You smell like a big big glory hunter to me because every decision of Arsene Wnger and Arsenal as a club is wrong in your eyes. Play an unhappy Henry–Not good
Sell an unhappy Henry–not good either…
You don’t semm like a real fan to me, I am sorry but if you are a fan you can be pesimistic but you wouldn’t write about the ARSENAL in this way.

You lot need to take away the sentiments and be very practical. Thats the only way to understand GELBS. I think the guy says the truth, its just that truth might be difficult to take..(We are moving closer to the bottom than to the top)
WE need to act and I sincerely believe that Gelbs loves this club!
33. jj Gooner | June 30th, 2007 at 2:27 pm
Scooch
Forget about Gelbs! Whether he is a gooner or not, you will always get these pitiful, negative people that focus their thinking on things that aren’t going right and therefore fail to see everything there is to be positive about. You’re right, reading this negative tripe can wear a bit thin but i’ve decided to laugh at people like gelbs because without even knowing who he is you could pretty much predict what kind of life he lives!!
I tend to agree with you other point, work is needed on this team before the start of the season but having said that we have allot to remain positive about. The nucleus of the team is brimming with quality and the potential is definitely there. A quality wide player, left sided and with bags of pace (I would go for Babel) is needed and a high calibre centre forward…. Tevez would be great, a cross between Wayne Rooney and Denis Bergkamp (perhaps wishful thinking)!
Who knows whats going to happen, but for fuck sake lets enjoy the mystique, we are possibly 2 or 3 signings away from getting things right and I think we (supporters) should recognise that instead of mumbling all this doom and gloom crap.
34. Scooch | June 30th, 2007 at 2:28 pm
Gelbs,
I heard exactly the same comments about finishing 7th before last season.
You need to either get behind the team or go away.
I already said that constructive criticism is a good thing, but it has to be constructive! Not incessant and pointless.
But I gotta say that reading thru some of the last few comments, most people realise quite what a spud you really are!!!
35. Gelbs | June 30th, 2007 at 2:30 pm
My problem is mainly with Wenger. Until that idiot gets out of Arsenal or wins the league title (as if lol), I can’t feel the same way I have done before for the club. Dislike the idiot. He isn’t Arsenal, he is the prick employed by the pricks. Arsenal is bigger than him. And I will always be Arsenal long after that wanker finally does go. If I had my way, he’d be out the door come 2008 if next season is shit like the last 2. Instead of offering him an undeservered 3 year extension. Get rid of all the deadwood and Wenger players (Fabregas) who feel nothing for the club, only for their wallets and Wenger. Get in a decent manager who will buy quality and not just overated, disloyal cunts who use Arsenal clearly as a stepping stone for bigger clubs like Barca, a disciplinarian and someone who takes no shit. Until that happens, we will always be a club in freefall. Just ask Henry why he left.

39. Gelbs | June 30th, 2007 at 2:37 pm
And it’s people like you scooch who “get behind the team” and encourage Wenger and failure. Of course, being a fan is about supporting the team through thick and thin. But there is a fine line between that and knowing when the shit has hit the fan and drastic action needs to be taken. Inflated ticket prices, worldclass players sold, average players etc etc. The list is endless.
40. gazzap | June 30th, 2007 at 2:40 pm
spuds do it every season. spend spend spend but still win sod all. they dont have the debt that Arsenal have so their income is theirs to spend. they get about 40,000 fans in every week, while we get 60,000 but over half of that revenue goes straight to the banks for the loans. i think that their wage bill is about £20m less than ours as well. thats at least one new player every summer straight away. ENIC are also backing them with whatever money they want. Still, as I say if they want to waste money every season thats up to them!
41. Gelbs | June 30th, 2007 at 2:42 pm
Go back to 2004. I was loving it. I had nothing but praise for the club. Was even laughing at the start of the season because we were unbeatable and played everyone off the park (except United). I was confident about everything. How 3 years changes everything. Your mind changes because of what you witness. If I was pessimistic back in 2004, I would of been a cunt. But credit where credits due. Now fast forward we aren’t even remotely close to being that gr8 again.

44. George Costanza | June 30th, 2007 at 2:46 pm
Like Kem from last night, I’ve been trying not to post for a bit and have been trying to be patient in the belief that things were happening behind the scenes and quality was coming in ( as promised ).
Even when Henry was sold, I wasnt really as bothered as I felt I should be - even though 16M seemed low, he was 30 and seems to be getting more injuries. He also seemed to be an intimidating presence and a bully if you like to some young players who were too in awe to retaliate. OK I thought, we’ll put that towards his replacement and move on and bring in a proven goalscorer.
What has happened since then though has pushed me over the edge and enough is enough :
I am referring to the fact that we have heard absolutely nothing from the club and more importantly our manager who had the final say ( who is on another break ffs ). This is a critical time for the club, when all our close rivals are spending their fans money like it should be - on players who can improve their clubs, our entire club appears to have gone into hibernation for the summer ?
IT IS A FUCKING DISGRACE the way the club / AW have behaved since TH was sold. At the very least the club should have called a press conference where the boss could explain the reasoning behind the sale and more importantly reassured the fans that he had replacements in mind and was in contrlo of the situation and that the cash would go towards new players.
Arsenal pride themselves on being a special club with a tradition of doing things the right way, well I’m sorry but this isnt the behaviour of a special club and certainly not of THE ARSENAL.
As it is the club is in a mess at the moment, and no-one has the decency to come out and put us in the picture despite us paying over a grand a year to watch a team with admitted potential, but one that is crying out for proven quality to compliment the youth.
I do not begrudge AW a hoiday, of course not - but with DD gone while AW is away then no-one is working on transfers like in the past. Time is running out here, and we have already missed out on players like Ribery, Torres etc and the fans are naturally keen to see players come in. We were promised Supersuper class players, if any come in at all and if we arent careful they are all going to be gone before we wake up, or maybe thats the plan?
45. Tweeker | June 30th, 2007 at 2:48 pm
Just occured to me where Spurs are getting this money from, the sale of Berbatov. Splash the credit card around before that news breaks, rather than do an Arsenal the other way round.
Hang on a minute, surely not, you spuds on here don’t really think you had all that cash hanging around do you, you’ve just blown £50+mil buying up Alan Sugars shares. Hope you enjoyed this week because you have a nasty reality shock headed your way, & your going to miss him a lot more than we will TH. Fuck me, seems your seasons peaked already, sad but also very funny.

I couldn’t agree more with George Costanza…
We all support a club that NEVER tells the fans what is going on!! And I am pissed off with it to be honest. I too don’t mind the sale of Henry too much, but i do mind the fact that they do not tell us anything about what is going on behind the scenes, which makes us have to refer to blogs like this and speculate on what is happening. Its a complete shambles to be honest!!
The board are too old now to understand what the club need and should sell up before the club is ruined for good!! As for wenger, i have been an admirer for years but now, im pissed off with this buy a yougster, sell him in a couple of years to a shit club policy, it gets us nowhere!!
Buy big is the way forward now as we cannot compete with the other big teams if we don’t. Players like Hleb, Dennilson, Walcott, Diaby, Adebeyor and Bendtner are not good enough yet we see them as 1st team players.
53. Raz | June 30th, 2007 at 2:54 pm
Gelbs, ignore the pricks who seem content with us selling our best players each year and replacing them with a ‘couple of bob’ imports ie Viera’s potential replacement with Song (until Wenger realised he is shit). It’s great that other teams strengthen around us with people more than content on this board as Hillwood lines his pockets like he’s been doing for so money years.
54. jj Gooner | June 30th, 2007 at 2:58 pm
George Costanza
I also think there should be more communication from the club and perhaps from Arsene Wenger. However, most of what you say is just your perception of whats happening! Your thinking the club are doing nothing while our rivals are building their teams for next season. You simply dont know what is going on behind the scenes, what negotiations have taken place and who we might be signing. Just because theres nothing in the press, does that mean nothing is happening? The truth is we don’t know. So rather than getting your nickers in a twist, isn’t it better to wait and see what prevails.
If come August 11th we’re not better off then I will be the first person on here agreeing with you!!!

61. william | June 30th, 2007 at 3:04 pm
A point i made on this site before. The English media and football fans generally rate a team at the begining of the league, based on the name of players brought in by the Manager. Most teams around us have always spent more than us. And we still do well. The name of the game is team building. It takes at least a season for players to settle down in any league. If you are extremely lucky half a season, given the right condition. How many players have Benitez bought and shipped out after one season?
The two manager’s i seriously rate in the league are Wenger, Fergie. Followed by Mourinho, Steve Coppel, Benitez and Big Sam. The first two in no particular order, but the rest in that order. Your performance of a team is heavily dependent on how good a manager is, not how much money is spent.
To think because Spurs have spent 16 million on a player will make them any better is ludicrous. They will not finish above Arsenal no matter how much they spend.
I seem to remember a number of players clamouring for us to buy Zakora. After seeing him play, is he better than any of our young midfielders?
Bent is a good player, but he is not a special player. And only special players are worth that much.
People should try and respect more what is happening at the club. The real fans go to the new Emirates and appreciate tremendously what has been done by all does involved in the club to get us there. The move has come at a price, but a very small one in my opinion. That is a drop of two places in the league. It has been negotiated by Wenger and the board at a time where a great team was begining to wane.
The media generates the hype and fans plunge into depression simply because players are not coming in.
How many of Wenger’s player aquisitions have been guesed by the media correctly?
It is certain that the a lot of work is being done behind the scene. And i trust Wenger and the board to do what is right. Buying players is not always right. Sometimes a surplus of players can be a detriment.
For those who like Tevez, you should remember Wenger saying he was not interested when he first became available, because he will stunt Wolcot’s development. We need another forward, but i can hazard a guess that Wenger will bring a player that will be number 2 or 3 behind RVP and/or Adebayor. Anything else will not be fair on RVP. My guess will be Martins, because of his pace and directness. I also think Bakari is coming which will mean Gilbert is coming. Bakari will bring much needed physicality in the right side of defence and midfield.
Enough of the negativety and sorry for the long post.

You will spend 9 million Owen? Gosh, thank God you are not Wenger.
The guys has not played a full season injury free in the last 5 season. He has had every major injury you can think of.
Do you know Kolo has played more games 2 season than Owen in 4 years? That is how Wenger thinks, it is about building a team.
The same reason he let Upson go to injury prone.

Because he hasnt i think he is weighing his options up and might end up leaving

There’ll be nothing happening next week either. The “super class” players Wenger wants will all be cheaper in late July…….to include Tevez/Malouda. He has to wait for Real + Chelski to act first so he’s not ripped off..classical Wenger economics
73. Arsene Wenger | June 30th, 2007 at 3:32 pm
we shud let the spuds enjoy themselves during the close season, as they are always about to break into the big time every summer arent they? then the nasty people at the premier league hav to spoil it all by actually making em play some football matches and kicking the season off!!
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

How many people here have been to the Emirates and Wembley?
I recommend the Emirates tour for all those doubting thomas’ Wenger will never leave the Arsenal, he is too sensible for that. Trust me guys Arsenal is a Big Big club. What we’ve achieved and how it has been achieved is truely amazing, And has not been done in the modern era. I mean the management of financies and still remaining competitive in the league.
Arsenal is Wenger last job, those that listen to his interviews over the past few years will know that. It took the club the best part of 5 years to build the new stadium and Wenger, has also built a new young team. I believe he will retire in 3 to 4 seasons. Which gives him time to help the club settle in the new ground and possible win the Champions league.

JGOS2 Tevez wants to sty in the good old english premiership and seeing as though he had turned down a move to inter to proove that then i dont think he will be on his way to madrid. And plus both of those big clubs have more dosh than us gooners anyway so in a battle to sign a player ther far more likely to succeed!

78. Kem | June 30th, 2007 at 3:45 pm
Another bunch of Wenger apologists. Makes me wanna fukkin scream at Wengers delusions of grandure.
RETARD VOLUMES - THE APOLOGIST FILES NO.1
“Wenger can’t go round telling everyone his transfer targets, then other clubs will bid for him”
What total bollox. All Wenger has to say is, “We’re looking to bring in new signings to bolster our squad, obviously we cant say who they are, but we are in the process” that simple.
I’m quite frankly outraged Wenger hasn’t looked to appease the fans over the Henry sale - he just put up some shit on Arsenal.con about ‘thanking him for services’ what dross. Not a word about his own contract or his transfer targets. While again Wenger is paid to fuck off to Sardinia & France for holidays after an abomination of a season. Taking the fukkin piss like Henry did, pissing off to play celebrity golf & watch his cunt mate play basketball in San Antonio. It’s ok though, us fans will pay 1k for a season ticket for you to go on multiple holidays after a totally unacceptable season. Aaaah, us Gooners. we’re so accepting.
Makes me fukkin spit feathers. Putting our faith in a sicknote (albeit talented) striker who is yet to complete a 38 league game season, aaah the optimisim. People bigging up Denilson like he’s the next fucking Paddy Vieira!! What has Denilson done to deserve such praise, it’s average at best!!AVERAGE!!
Wenger thinking he can pick & choose his trophies to win, we’re not THAT good. “I should have sacrificed the FA/Carling cup”. Shut up u mug, you still wouldnt have won the CL. Idiot.
Fabianski, Sunu & Harviadt that’s our transfer dealings so far, what a joke for a club of our stature. Its OK though Wenger runs this club, he can get away with it, hes allowed to appoint his Director Of Football. Gelbs is spot on as well, “FABREGAS GOALS THIS SEASON” on Arsenal.con. Must be a fukking short programme.!!!

Why the hell are people complaining about Wenger having a holiday??? Jesus give the guy a break!
I am as frustrated as anyone (probably more actually because I am stuck in rural China with only Newsnow to watch!) that we havent signed anyone but lets wait until the end of July before we start with the old doom and gloom!
I would like to see us sign Tevez as he is someone who could really set our team alight but it isnt going to happen until first Wenger gets back and second the Copa America finishes.

94. GoonerDU | June 30th, 2007 at 4:00 pm
The only thing I am worried about is Wenger signing. Don’t give a shit about Henry (never scored for us in a final and 1 goal from 10 semi’s). That’s why must gooner’s are worried, because if Wenger does not sign, then we can kiss it all good bye for the next 5 to 10 years. Tottenham will surpass us, especially if they can hold on to Berbartov. Spurs are a real threat to us!!! It’s folly to think otherwise.
Now who would, in there right mind, want to come to Arsenal knowing Wenger might not be around? Don’t mention Tevez! He’ll go to the highest bidder.
The club have not come out with any statements, because they are shitting their pants. They know that Wenger is getting pissed off with the lack of funds. They ask too much from him. They expect Wenger to produce the goods without any real investment. Which is wrong, Wenger can not keep finding gems for peanuts. No one can.
It is hard to say positive, but if Wenger signs then I’ll back him, even if we do not sign anyone else (which would be the directors fault IMO). HE IS THE KEY

103. George Costanza | June 30th, 2007 at 4:15 pm
jjgooner#54,
Of course some of it is speculation, waht else can it be when we as fans are treat like mushrooms by the club ( kept in the dark and fed on shite ). I’ll tell you what isnt spec though,
1.We have just sold our club captain and record scorer and havent hear a peep from our board / manager.
2.Our manager hasnt yet commited to the club, and unlike previous times hasnt even indicated that he will. How can we expect proven players to sign for a club that has no stability and has a takeover war brewing which could change the club forever.
3.We have a board who are stuck in the past and dont realise that the game has changed - on and off the field, and you either compete or get left behind however much it goes against your principles or traditions. Money talks now, simple as that!
4.The one person who did understand was sacked for having the nerve to try and make the club competetive, however misguided his plan was he had and still has the interests of the club at heart.
5.We finished TWENTYONE POINTS behind first place and were out of everything by March ffs.
6.We are told money is available yet it is never spent and even when it is, it is always to replace players and never to add to the squad - Vieira, Pires, Campbell and now Henry.
7.We were told when we moved stadium that the move wouldnt affect AW’s transfer budget and indeed those funds were “completetly seperate and ringfenced” - now either the club have miscalculated the cost of the move or worse they have lied to us from day one, either way it is unacceptable and has led to the decline of the team.
This is not negativity or “bedwetting”, this is being realistic and facing the facts that cant be argued with. There are positives at the club like AW and some young players, but the negatives outweigh the positives now and people need to wake up and realise this.
I am seriously wondering what the point of finishing in the top4 was last season ( apart from buying Hill-Wood some more cigars ). It should mean you use it as leverage to attract the best players surely as you can offer them CL football.
The club need to realise that we may not always be in this position to attract top players and while we are, we do nothing about it. Ribery, Malouda, Babel, Torres, Eto, Tevez, have all expressed an interest in playing for us ( in most cases AW ) and we have done fuck all about it. What are we waiting for here, Babel would walk to the emirates, same as Malouda and Tevez has already said he wants to stay in London?
We have 22M from sales alone before we even sell the spanish gypsy so we are looking at 30M before the board even give AW any dosh, so how can we plead poverty and expect the fans to believe it.
I’m not even mentioning the sponsorship deals or the new TV money ffs, but we must have at least 40M here, so lets use it or we’ll be lucky to be top 6 next year. Look at the squad compared to the others plus Toon, Wst Ham and Villa then tell me I’m exagerrating?

, excellant post. I think what wenger is doing is right it is not all about buying players first you have to get the balance of the team right by offloading players. I think the biggest worry is not upfront but in defence. The partnership of toure and gallas does not look balanced and they do not complement each other as CBs should. Wenger has the choice of 1 trying to develop the partnership 2 turning to big phil as he has qualities to complement toure or gallas but is incosistent or 3 buying someone new. I would love no2 as bg phil has heart is young and has trained with adams and co. He needs to improve his concentration especiall when clearing the ball because iv noticed he slices it alot puting the team under pressure.
Signing Sagna could be a masterstroke because i feel eboue needs a kick up the backside eversince lauren was sold and the positon became 100 percent his he has been lazy, selfish and nonchalent he needs a chllange. In midfield i would love to see diaby play with fabregas. I think it would work because they are so different but deni and fab dosent work because they are similar types of players both like to be instigators. i think wenger will buy a unkown leftwinger because there is not alot out there mainstream the names been banded out quaresma, babel and malouda. I cant comment on quaresma i havent seen alot of him babel i feel is not that good and will not improve that much and malouda will go elsewere but is not a big loss. i Think we will buy that brazillian kid Renato Augusto the arsenal scouts have aparently been out to watch him and are quite impresed. For the striker that we will buy i agree with post 61 it will be because he martins wont stunt the development of other strikers

106. Gelbs | June 30th, 2007 at 4:22 pm
I ain’t that bothered about Wenger not coming out about Henry. But it’s the principal. He’d just come out with some shit like “trust me” anyway like Vieira.
107. Reg | June 30th, 2007 at 4:22 pm
george, sure the board could have been a bit more forthcoming, but considering the shite that spews from PHW’s mouth, I’m just glad he hasn’t said anything of late. Sure he isn’t exactly at the cutting edge of football matters, but to accuse em all of being not up to it is frankly wrong. they were the ones who set the stadium plan going and completed it too, unlike dein who was against it.
I know it’s very frustrating at the moment, but we don’t know what is going on with signings other than the manager has said he wants to add to the squad, so he can’t really say more than that can he?
basically, I think the fact that other teams have just spent big on players has spooked you and you just need some reassurances mate. Sorry, can’t help you there.

Tevez has come out and said that the idea of staying in london and being henrys replacement appeals to him so it makes sense 4 us to do everything in our power 2 get him. If we can afford to keep rubbish in the team like senderos and throw money away on freddies wages then we can certainly afford 2 shell out a bit extra4 tevez.
Hes a monster of a player and if he can work the magic for shite like west ham he can be phenomenal4 us!
p.s everyone at arsenal stop going on fucking holiday!

I agree that we have been left to rot and think the worst. There is a hell of a lot of bad speculation, affecting possible signings and unsettling the current squad. WHY have the club not come out at a press conference or even an official statement to quell the bad press and our fears? I don’t want to get carried away or fear the worst but it can only lead me to think that they don’t have ANYTHING positive to say, so that would create even more uncertainty. It can be the only logical explination. AW won’t sign till DD is back with Kroenke. If they don’t get in, AW goes. I do not want to consider where that leaves us. He is the ONLY manager that could have got us where we are and the ONLY manager who can keep us there. Hillbillywood MUST get off his fat hole, swallow some pride, admit we are financially crippled and get DD back in with Kroenke. If not, our demise will be complete. Them the facts, ignore them if you want, but it’s staring us in the face.
117. raphael | June 30th, 2007 at 4:37 pm
guys, guys, guys
i haven’t been here for only three days and you people are still moaning about wenger and signings! for a start you seem to be reading too much of tabloids. everyone regurgitates the same names (anelka, martins, babel) as the tabloids. pull your heads out of the sand and think.
wenger’s biggest problem right now is not who to buy but how to flog off our expensive misfit reyes without making an almighty loss. if he could get, hopefully, 10mil for him, i think we could all breathe easier and think about buying, cos the prospect of the boy being at arsenal come end of august is unpleasant, to say the least. sell reyes and you have, hopefully, 25mil plus in the kitty and you can then possibly buy some top players out of their contracts!!!
that is 25mil before whatever the board’s budget for this window.
as to who we can buy, depends a lot on who is on the market and i believe wenger knows the market a lot better than the tabloids.
martins. i’ve never seen martins get past anyone, all he has is speed and a shot, for wenger he would be a last ditch option, and dingy ditch at that!
wenger made more than 20mil on anelka and i don’t see him throwing it back at him! besides i can’t imagine anelka-anelka-anelka ringing around ashburton grove. frankly, i still hate him, and are we really that desparate?
babel is a prospect and a lot of guys contradict themselves touting him as a solution for the loss of henry. he is a prospect!! we could just as well have kept lupoli.
michael owen has even less to offer than martins, we could do better playing rosicky behind the front man. and(!!!!), when was the last time wenger bought a player still on contract with another premiership club… never??? did i hear jeffers, hmmm…
the only name that has excited me from the rumour mills has been the real zaragoza striker diego milito who was second top goalscorer in spain last season. he is under contract and 28yrs old, both may be nagatives for wenger. on the field though he is super!
another possible option may be fred at lyon. he had a foot injury towards end of season and again at copa america and had
run-ins with the club. he is also on contract and aged only 23yrs. he would break the bank and wenger is not famous for that.
girladino from ac milan has never impressed me much but he seems bent on leaving them(?).
afonso alvez at heerenveen seems bound for germany, pity! 34 goals in 31 matches sounds juicy in any language!!!
there are dozens of unpolished diamonds in the smaller leagues/clubs, and that is wenger’s forte!!
the market is not exactly flooded with top strikers right now and as soon as we pitch for a player, most clubs seem to send a message to mourinho’s office and the price shoots up. besides, anybody we buy now is going to take at least six to 18 months to adapt!!
wenger said he would only buy one or two exceptional players this window, the proviso always being, if he can find them at a sane price!
i’m confident that for many in the arsenal midfield and strikeforce, the glass ceiling (henry) has been lifted. no excuses now!!
if people are tired of spurs supporters boasting about their new signings, don’t worry, we’ll send out the reserves to thrash them again next term!!!
the board would have to make a major bungle for wenger to decide to leave. wenger is not going to abandon his project, this team and stadium, he has been building. the delay in his contract commitment is possibly the only leverage he has against a boardroom that has gone wonky, to say the least!
without a cash injection into the club, we would be doomed without his skill at building a team from young prospects (benitez at liverpool is also preparing for their new stadium by buying a whole raft of younsters!!).
would i be wrong to think that wenger has made a profit in the transfer market through everyone of his seasons at the club and still managed three league titles and cup wins/runs????
those who don’t have faith in wenger’s skill as tactician and his knowledge of the football market should stop moaning about new player signings and pitch for a new manager instead.
otherwise, say something constructive!!!!!!!!
118. Arsene Wenger | June 30th, 2007 at 4:40 pm
Think you need a new dictionary. You must’ve missed the definition of facts and mixed em up with rumours instead.
Seeing as how at least 4 players have stated they want to sign for us last week, I don’t see how any “rumours” have put players off coming.

Don’t worry wenger will come from holiday and surely he will singn
classy striker and we dont need henry anymore hi will play 2 more years good football after that he will be too old and he will not play same or if he continue with his injures he will suck like last season.
we have team for next 10 years Teo Wallcott will be the next Henry you’ll see.if wenger buy tevez that would be great.

Reg, agree with you about HillWood,
You couldnt make some of the stuff up that that fat windbag comes out with, I think he has stopped smoking cigars and started on something stronger.
This board is no longer up to it mate, as I said the game has changed on and off the field but they just havent realised it. As someone said earlier they keep expecting AW to unearth gems and dont realise that to compete now you do need to invest in proven quality ( not everywhere, but certainly in key areas ). They dont though and think “its ok we’ll trust Arsene - he’ll come up with something on the cheap”.
Its totally unfair though to expect him to compete with the rest with one hand tied behind his back. In the past it was just Manutd and it was good fun, a duel every year for a decade. Now it is Chelsea, Pool and I expect Newcastle and Spurs to be up there not to mention WHam, Villa and Pompey to name a few.
The board expected the new stadium to be done and for us to have to spend 10-15M per season to keep up with Manutd, which they probably thought we could afford and that those 2 clubs would continue to dominate. They didnt bargain on Roman changing the game as we knew it, since then every club has more money and are competing with us for the best players, except we arent really competing at all are we? Top players are out there, we just either cant or wont pay for them.
Basically the board are out of their depth now, and to stay ahead now teams needs to spend more than they ever imagined and they cant deal with it. DD saw this and realised we needed help and was rerwarded with the boot. I agree that DD didnt want to move stadiums, but that is only because he knew that it WOULD affect the team and transfers, unlike the board who lied through their teeth, and it seems he is being proved 100% right!
This board havent got a fucking clue anymore mate, ask yourself this - if AW leaves then who on that board would you trust to make the right appointment as manager in the best interests of the club? There isnt a football person on there though is there, now DD is gone, it is scary and we would end up with a yes man who wouldnt rock the boat or ask for any ambition, while those wankers kept lining their pockets - R.I.P Arsenal F.C !!!
I am glad we moved and am proud of the stadium and excited by the income and extra funds it generates. However the whole point of relocating was to compete with the others for top players. The rose tinters keep saying in another 2/3 yrs we will start seeing some funds being released, hang on here if this transition / decline continues then in 2/3 yrs who the fuck is going to WANT to join us, especially if AW leaves and is followed by Cesc, Theo etc. The emirates will be half full and we will be scrapping for top 6/7 like lat days of GG.
Finally reg, I dont think it is unreasonable to want assurances from the club that we would improve the squad after last seasons debacle. Look at Barca, Bayern - both had dissapointing seasons and within days things were moving and Barca have already got Chivu, Yaya, Abidal and you know who. Bayern have also moved early and got Ribery, Jansen, Toni and Klose. Thats the kind of ambition and assurance I want from us and I dont thnik it is too much to ask after last seasons shite, do you?

127. enki | June 30th, 2007 at 5:08 pm
about torres. he is a good player but not as good as many seem to think. as i have said before i watch la liga religiously (6 games every weekend on dstv inc most of athletico madrid’s)he is strong and can run but he also has a poor touch. in fact he is one the player to give the ball away the most(baptista anybody). then there is the issue of adaptation as he does not strike me as a mentally tough individual. he does score goals though.
it seemed that all footballer nowadays wants to holiday in seychelles. in the last three weeks we have had gary neville, makelele, simon rolf(bayern leverkusen midfeilder). zambrotta and robben just left today and we have had a number of lesser known italian, german and french players. hoping for wenger to come now.

The question is WHY have the board not moved to stop the rumours?
My worry is they CAN’T, otherwise they WOULD HAVE.
117. Agree wiyh most you say. My point is we are nothing without AW. It is not in the boards hands or power to stop him going. OF COURSE they WANT him to stay. I just think he will not do so with the string vest budget obviously has. Dein would not have walked unless he was sure we needed outside investment, the club is his life, he would not give it up on a whim. It follows that we do not have the buying power to compete and kids win nothing.
Whichever way you look at it, the ONLY chance is for DD to come back with some serious outside investment.

133. Dave | June 30th, 2007 at 5:30 pm
Christ, as much as I hate to say it, it appears most of my fellow Arsenal fans are 12 year old morons if this site is anything to go by. I mean really, every once in a while a person thinks before they type, but i’m talking of less than 1/10 here. Look at other clubs and see how they act with each other on similar pages. They don’t spend all day taking the piss out of their clubs for problems that only the Press have created. Yes, Wenger could say he will buy another couple of players, but why? If you didn’t notice you’re all constantly mentioning his quote of bringing in a few ’super, super class players’. THERE IS YOUR ANSWER. It hasn’t happened. YET. The close season is far from over so shut up, wait until the season starts THEN you can say whether or not Wenger has backed out of his promise to sign these players.
Christ most of you guys are just embarrassing. I love this club but it has some stupid fuck fans. I wouldn’t expect so much stupidity and shit from Arsenal fans. Or maybe I should, perhaps half the people here are stupid glory hog children who only like Arsenal because of their 49 game unbeaten run period or something but this is a joke. All you have to do is look at the standard of grammar and spelling here to notice that this page is full of stupid fuckwits.
Shame on so many stupid ass holes, go and commit suicide please or stop wasting space here.

ARSENAL FOR LIFE!!!
135. George Costanza | June 30th, 2007 at 5:33 pm
Cracking point NN #128,
I think the board are shitting themselves and cant quell these rumours like you say. They realise getting rid of DD has backfired big time, but they just blundered in without even hearing Kroenke out ( which ridiculously, they have now done even though it may be too late ).
If AW leaves, then they are 100% to blame and I feel sure that they would resign anyway. You are right they want him to stay, but he knows he cant compete on the beans they give him and it stinks. I would be gutted if he left, but could you blame him - these cunts couldnt run a fucking bath never mind a so called “top European footy club”.
I agree, the only chance we have is if DD comes back and thats only gonna happen once these old duffers are out. I am still undecided on this takeover thing, but as you say Arsenal is DDs life and he isnt going to support anything that put it at risk, either now or in the future.
This summer was an ideal chance for the board to make a statement of intent to the fans, that they were serious about making us competetive again. In the process they would prove to people that maybe we dont need a takeover. So far they have done the opposite though, no new signings, AW uncommited and a wall of silence following our captains sale. Can you blame fans for thinking - why not give this Kroenke a chance as he cant do any worse than this lot, can he ?
Top post, mate - seems like alot of people are realising how important DD was to the club.
136. AJ | June 30th, 2007 at 5:34 pm
This occurred to me today, just as a thought, but a frightening one really…
What if…
Wenger signs Sagna, and then uses Eboue as primarily a midfielder…
,,,meaning Theo’s somewhat out of a job, and ends up being used primarily as a backup striker (his eventual position anyway, IMHO)…
…meaning Arsene doesn’t see the need to sign another striker, OR another midfielder.
It’s a scary thought, but the more I think of it, the harder I find it to rule it out…

139. enki | June 30th, 2007 at 5:35 pm
afterall if the board was all about the money would they not have sold to kroenke for hefty profit. considering the value of the club right now is huge while in a few years if arsenal is underperforming and the debt becomes a major negative issue they might not get a good price. as for dein what has he done for arsenal to be seen as such a messiah. yes he signed bergkamp(rumoured to be under wenger recommendations) and brought wenger in. but what else has he done. i mean arsenal unlike man utd, chelsea and pool has not aggresively promote itself overseas. we could have gotten a much better deal for the stadium naming right. he was against the new stadium which is vital for the club future. and we still do not have our own tv. also players like pires, vieira, cole, anelka all left under his watch. while i am not neccesarily balming him for their departure if you can critisize the current board over henry then surely you cancritisize him over the aforementioned players. i am not saying he has done nothing right and help to bring the club up to the top level but you have to think that most credit must go to wenger who completly revolutionized the team both on and off the feild. i would venture that before wenger came arsenal did not have a quaters of the global supporters base of cloose to 30 millions it now has. afterall sein been at arsenal since 1983. before wenger came he had not done much had he.

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard believes that Arsenal will cope without Thierry Henry, after the former Arsenal captain left the Emirates Stadium to move to Barcelona.
He explained: “Anyone is going to miss Thierry Henry, let’s get it right he is a fantastic player. He is one of the best players in the world. Has been for a long time.
“It is a disappointment from Arsenal’s point of view, but they will look forward as a club.
“I don’t buy into this thing that Arsenal are now dead and buried and falling apart.
“They are too big for that, they have too good a manager for that and too many good players for that.
“They will adjust and carry on as many teams do when they lose good players.”
IF THIS FAT CUNT IS SAYING THIS WE MUST SIGN 8 NEW PLAYERS FAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

there is no loyalty in football from players anymore except in very rare cases. totti at underacheiving roma is one. as for maldini. he is playing at the second most prestigious football club behind madrid. why would he leave. i wonder if he was playing at genoa or treviso if he would have stayed all his career there

167. enki | June 30th, 2007 at 6:15 pm
yes. poor by the standard wenger has set in the last decade. but we are in a rebuilding phase and will continue to get better. take away our injuries troubles and i think we will surprise a few. althought i do not think we are quite there yet. i seemed to be the only one who is enjoying seeing this team developed into a quality side and player like fab, denilson, diaby turn from coal to diamond.
168. AJ | June 30th, 2007 at 6:16 pm
“we have replace vieira.his name is fabregas.”
Not exactly.
Wenger thrust the entire responsibility of our midfield onto Cesc’s shoulders, and didn’t even give him the backup of a couple of half-decent backup midfielders. Fucking Mathieu ‘Mediocrity’ Flamini was supposed to be our 3rd choice.
Wenger’s efforts in 2005 were embarrassing.
169. AJ | June 30th, 2007 at 6:17 pm
“a bit like vieira when he arrived. the difference is that vieira arrived in a team without the need for as much rebuilding as this current one.”
this team didn’t really need rebuilding until Wenger started dismantling it and not properly replacing the pieces he was taking away.
170. AJ | June 30th, 2007 at 6:19 pm
” never became attached to henry or vieira ”
Then you’re a twaT, frankly.
If you can’t get ‘attached’ to our best players (possibly best ever), who play at the club for most of a decade, you’re not much of a fan.
171. paul d | June 30th, 2007 at 6:20 pm
not enough of these players have or ever will have enough
quality to win anything. granted we have a few good enough
but you can bet theyll go the same route as henry after using
us for experience for a few years unless wenger starts showing
a bit of ambition with top class signings
172. enki | June 30th, 2007 at 6:20 pm
aj your point being.
173. AJ | June 30th, 2007 at 6:22 pm
Point?
The point is that Wenger sold Vieira without properly replacing him - throwing Fabregas in at the deep end and not even supporting him was so idiotic that he corrected his own mistake by Christmas. It was too late to salvage much from our season, at thau point, but at least we scraped fourth.
174. enki | June 30th, 2007 at 6:23 pm
i support arsenal. i’m attached to arsenal. if that make me a twat so be it. what does it makes you when you become attached to players who has no loyalty to the club yet are being paid massive amount of your hard earned cash. you tell me as i do not beleive in insulting other gooners. and paul how do you know these player will not amount to much.

its a mystery to me how someone of wengers footballing intelligence could still think he will ever be good enough to play with a team of arsenals stature

these are people who has no loyalty to the club. i am a fan of arsenal. i am attached to arsenal. when these players play for arsenal i appreciate them but i do not become attached because their departure is almost inevitable. this is my personal opinion. it is not bollock. and you are no authority to decide who is a real arsenal fan or not.

184. enki | June 30th, 2007 at 6:33 pm
well senderos has not been playing much lately. you yourself earlier say wenger is not always right. so maybe he was wrong in this instance. but you have to admit his track record is impressive. so who else is crap in the current arsenal team. remember they use to call adams donkey. you might have just started something with senderos. so let hope he gets to be as good as tony. what more i doubt you ever watch senderos in his natinal team in the world cup and euro qualifications
185. enki | June 30th, 2007 at 6:36 pm
owen is injury prone. can we afford another one of those. and at that price. tevez is no doubt quality. i hope we get him though i do think he is any better than rvp.
186. paul d | June 30th, 2007 at 6:38 pm
hleb is fucking brutal. i hate to see him get the ball. senderos will never be near to adams. you are right however i never watch him at international level, its bad enough watching him at arsenal. but yes defnitely for me hleb is one of the worst players in the team
187. paul d | June 30th, 2007 at 6:41 pm
van persie is promising but nowhere near where an arsenal striker should be YET. wenger wont buy tevez thats for sure and as for owen hes only 27 and cheap and hes a great goalscorer. we have a team who cant shoot apart from van persie
188. enki | June 30th, 2007 at 6:47 pm
helb is a good player who has lost his confidence. if you watch senderos at international level you would see that he is not a bad defender at all, just a bit slow. switzerland if an ultra defensive team who does not play with a high defensive line like arsenal. so senderos rarely need to use pace to get out of trouble while he does at arsenal. put senderos in chelsea and i promise you a much better player. i personally do not think he is going to make it at arsenal as his style is not suited to our ultra offensive game. it is telling that he had his best stint during the cl when were playing more defensive. i thought he did well against the likes of raul, ronaldo, ibrahimovich et al. as an example look at sol campbell. he was totally useless the season before last for us because he had lost his speed but at pompey who play more conservative than us he has strive. i venture that even a player like terry will get exposed if he play in our backline.
189. enki | June 30th, 2007 at 6:49 pm
what wrong with rvp. he has always score at least ten goals for us a season on limited playing time. let see if tevez does as well next season as he had done for the last few games of the last season.
190. enki | June 30th, 2007 at 6:54 pm
and why do you think that all the player not playing for arsenal are better than our current one. after talking about getting attached to our players you do not seemed to be getting attached to the like of cesc(admire by almost every big team in europe),helb and senderos. wonder if you will fall out of love with tevez. afterall it took him an age to get going at west ham. if he was at arsenal would you have been willing to give him the benefit of the doubt

201. raphael | June 30th, 2007 at 7:39 pm
hey guys, is this the same blog. people are talking about football!!!
bnt 191
yes, i hate hleb too. i can see why arsene bought him though, but he is still the worst passer of the ball in the whole squad. if eboue were to compete directly with him, time on the bench could wake him up!!!
senderos has proved dissappointing since the heady spell when he kept sol on the bench. djourou is a better player for my money. do you reckon gilberto will play more as a c/back as he ages (toure and eboue are away in jan too). so lets buy sagna… 2 birds one stone.
freddie is not aging gracefully. he and walcott are not enough competition for hleb. i wish wenger would give him more stints in the middle in defensive formation. i remember his perfomance at madrid fondly!!!
flamini has spunk, not much else though. he is a great one for the mudbaths in the northwest. with diaby and denilson edging him i think he’s a goner. birmingham, i hear???
song had a great stint at charlton last term but i don’t see him getting enough matchplay to reproduce/improve that form.
i pray somebody buys reyes for at least 10mil. we shipped a very promising ryan smith to make way for him. with him gone (10mil) we can hunt down a natural lefty, then we could do something useful with rosicky up front!!!
we need another striker or theo on steroids.
who’s been watching the reserves??? who can step up from there????

honestly i didnt know what to say, because we have shown no ambition and liverpool fans happy they getting fernando torres, and we can remember what happened to fernando morientes so i mention that to them
204. Odu Obodumu | June 30th, 2007 at 8:08 pm
I wonder why we have heard nothing from Wenger. He should be planning for next season or does he want to come back after the available players have been sold? Henry can go, he is gone beyond his prime. He is injury prone now. For arsenal to do well, they must sign quality and experienced players otherwise, they will stay at the middle of the table next season. Then there will be no CL money and the implication is very clear.

i’ve just had another look at fred’s stats on espn, 11 goals in 20(13 starts) and 3 more in cup matches! as i said before, sounds good. he is currently injured though, and 23 yrs old & under contract… he’ll cost us a bundle.
i wish we would also pitch for afonso alvez (34 goals in 31 matches)… stuttgart are chasing they say

you sound frustrated chap and i understand why.
you cannot expect wenger to announce every wish and intent he has.
to suggest wenger is not planning for next season is ridiculous. he has no director of football right now and has to do a lot running and wheeler dealing himself, a bit of rest won’t be a disaster.
our team can benefit from quality experienced players, yes, but any purchase has to be based on what can improve team we have now, we don’t the budget of chelsea to buy a whole squad!
207. Ash | June 30th, 2007 at 8:48 pm
Renato Augusto who we’ve been linked with is playing now for Brazil U20. He’s right footed, can play right and left wing and physically he looks strong. He’s similar in style to Kaka and I think he would be a very good signing.
208. Dave | June 30th, 2007 at 9:10 pm
The people who don’t think Hleb is any good or ever consistent really are listening too much to stupid commentators and reading too many match reviews from the newspapers, none of which appear to have any idea what they’re talking about (They gave Ballack something like 9/10 in the Carling Cup Final because he set up one goal and that was it, whilst players like Denilson who ran the show got about 6). For at least 3 months last season around a third of the way through the year he was consistently a brilliant winger (our best player during that time in my opinion) he kept the ball brilliantly, defenders were having a torrid time trying to get near him because of his close control and to be honest I think only a lack of shots was a criticism - which I might add our player of the year Fabregas was equally as bad, if not worse at doing (or not doing :P). I think he was one of our best performers for as much as 1/3 to 1/2 of the season. He spent a while injured with Freddie playing instead and when he came back he wasn’t quite himself, but to be fair, most of our players were pretty weak around that time, yet he was singled out. He got singled out constantly in games where he surely should have been man of the match where commentators ignored his displays and said ‘he’s been ok’ when he would dominate the right flank and cause endless trouble for the opposition.
Really he’s had some ups and downs but whatever you do, DON’T base any footballing opinions on shit the fucking media and commentators shit about. They are so full of shit it’s unreal. Most people’s problems are that because the media doesn’t give him credit (reminds me of Cygan and the shit he faced because the media just didn’t like him) they spend the entire game thinking HMM I BET HE’LL MAKE A BAD PASS AT SOME POINT. WAIT, HE DID MAKE A COUPLE OF BAD PASSES IN THE WHOLE GAME. TERRIBLE, HE’S SHIT. - as if every fucking player doesn’t do that. And the fact that he gave away a free kick in a dangerous position against PSV is hardly a reason to hold something big against him. Believe it or not players sometimes make mistakes, and there’s no point holding that against him when free kicks in that sort of position are given away constantly. Your only problem was that it actually turned out a goal and you’re willing to forget every other time a player makes exactly the same mistake so long as it doesn’t turn out a goal.
209. Dave | June 30th, 2007 at 9:14 pm
P.S. it’s not like Henry always played well. As often as 2/3 games he would be hugely unimpressive, passing like shit, wasting chances to pass, being greedy etc. however he’d do one or two good things in an otherwise shit or quiet performance such as score and everyone would say it’s a good performance.
Wake up and watch the game. Also don’t base your opinions on fucking Match of the Day which only shows the interesting bits, making a player like Henry seem to be brilliant every game because in 90 minutes he’d always manage SOMETHING.

I’m sorry for writing stupid things, don’t know what got into me. I virtually wanted to say that Hleb is a useless cunt and we should get rid of him as fast as possible. Even my handicapped 80 years old grandmother could shoot harder than him. That pussy sucks.

peep say AW is brilliant and he is. He is brilliant at getting young talent and nuturing it to greatness. Brilliant at playing entertaining football to the 18 yard box. But, last time I checked, they dont give out trophies for that. He has never created a defense that does not leak like an undisciplined pscho ward. He inherited one, a truly great one. He must get the credit for Henry, where others failed he did the bizness. I want to see passion, physicality, imposition, and fear in the opposition. All our players are more like ballet dancers (except toure). Can you imagine this lot in a stouch with manure like before?? Wenger is an intellectual faggot and all his french whingers are as well. AW is great at getting value for money, but wats the point if you cant beat sheffield? Let’s drop the idealism and start kicking some arse. Starting with the barely weaned tots we call players. Rooney is also young, and frightening. Ours sleep with the light on.

the latest shite is that real want to keep reyes. hope they part with some money soon to give wenger another pay rise and another holiday. any other top club would be getting rid of someone whos won fuck all in 3 years yet we cant wait to give him a pay rise. anyway to all the do gooders who jump to attack my views i would just like to say in advance, GO FUCK YOURSELF YOU WANKERS.

Wenger’s days at Arsenal are counted, I’m surely not the only one who thinks that he was a great coach for us but broke our team completely. The sale of Henry only suggests that he has finally lost it, that was one of the sadest days in the club’s history. He still hasn’t said anything about it, no statement, no interview, simply nothing. That’s pretty much insufficient. I would have given him one more year but given our current state the best thing would be to bring in a new coach (Tony Adams) immediately and to show all those useless and disloyal players like Fabregas the exit door too. Painful step but absolutely necessary. A new coach with fresh ideas and the right signings could bring in some new dynamic into the club.

i have a little story for you people. earlier this year i went to blackburn with my 2 young nephews for their first arsenal game. we waited at the door to see the players and wenger get off the bus. it was raining but we stayed.just inside the front door of ewood park was a young lad in a wheelchair who was obviously completely paralised and posibly downs syndrome as well. he had been brought in by someone at blackburn with a bit of influence to see his heroes. up pulled the arsenal bus. out hopped the players. i pods on and totally oblivious to the soaking fans who pay their obscene wages they sprinted in. they all ran by that young lad inside the door in the wheelchair without a second glance. then mr wenger gets out. he walks in. i seen him look at the young lad in the chair. what does he do? he walks past with his head in the air. now people dont tell me that im a spurs or chelsea fan, im a more passionate arsenal fan than most of you on here are or ever will be but thats the day i lost respect for mr big shot wenger and his bunch of spiolt overpaid overrated arseholes. would it have killed any of the cunts to bend down and talk to or even acknowledge that young lad and make his year. this is the man who you people will defend to the hilt. hes a rude aragont man who never finds it necessary to talk to or explain to us the fans who pay his wages. ive been a huge arsenal fan long before mr wenger ever of arsenal and will be long after hes gone

226. Very surprised to read that as its not something I’ve come across before. I went up to Colney a few seasons ago with a mate, as we needed to get some merch’ signed for a charity do. Even though we had not arranged it beforehand, Wenger ok’d it. On that perticular day the keepers were showing some kids in wheelchairs around the place. So hence suprised about the forementioned.

somthing touched me,i logged in 2 youtube n typped arsenal games, funny enough i came across the cup final we played against chelsea and believe me i was reasured that we can still do without titi’. i watched walcott’s touch past terry and in2 the net probably past the best gk in the world czech and i looked @ the whole players on the field n there were no henry.rvp, gilberto, gallas, clichy and the passing was paffect even though we went down 1-2 but i believe from the scene that wiith the kids ARSENE have + aka TEVEZ and huntaaaler or babel then we’l be red hot n God willing a trebble next season.TRUST AW WE’VE ALWAYS SHOWN HIM THE TRUST COZ I TRULLY BELIEVE HE KNOWS Y HE LEFT HENRY LEAVE N BECAUSE HE HAD SOME GOOD THINGS TO DELIVER WITHOUT TITI SO I URGE U GOONERS STAY CALM BE PATIENT FOR THE COMING WEEKS N U WILL REMEMBER ME TELLING U COZ U GONA WITNESS A BRIGHT FUTURE WITHOUT THAT FREAKIN FUCKING HENRY’ but i must appreciate wat he did @ arsenal.LONG LIVE ARSENAL.
230. Dave | July 1st, 2007 at 12:03 am
Actually that previous message from me was a joke. I do think Hleb has great potential AND has shown it greatly for quite a while during last season.
People only hate Hleb because they’re too stupid to make their own opinions and instead take on those handed to them by retards in the commentary box, or by appalling newspaper match reviews. The only other kind of person who would think Hleb is shit is a person who hasn’t watched much of him and has only seen him during his weaker performances (which in case everyone didn’t notice every player has).
Like I said earlier, people are quick to forgive and forget when the ‘big’ players play badly. Maybe the best example was Viera. He was amazing on his day, but he was also shit quite regularly for a player who many treated like a God. But of course nobody would say anything negative about the talisman! Never! That would be silly! Instead lets mindlessly stick the boot in to a player who deserves far more credit than he gets after he makes a few poor passes. The logic appears to be to heap all of the criticism that should be aimed at the ‘protected’ players onto those players who’s faces don’t fit, resulting in a double helping for them and none for those who deserve it.
Hleb deserves to be in the squad next season and that’s all there is to it.

geek & horeprick,
just fuck off and leave glieb alone. He is absolutly right wenger should be fired for getting rid of quality and playing kids just of diapers

Ive read through these posts and am shocked at the amount of condemnation of Wenger and his methods. How long have the people saying these things actually been supporting the club….
The fact is that we owe everything that we have been to Wenger. Also he has earnt a little more than 2 trophyless seasons grace before the trash starts flying about, especially since he got us to the CL final in one of those seasons. The fact the club got rid of Dein and arent prepared to do what everyone else is doing and accept foreign investment is NOTHING to do with Wenger.
We have been unluky that the time when we have had to cut back onspending and rely on youth is also the time when all others are going at the spending hell for leather. Id prefer to see our kids come good than a load of strangers come in and prop us up for a bit.
Look at Spurs
They have paid double the price for bent that he was worth and all of a sudden its happy days for them. I say BOLLOCKS to that.
Look at Liverpool
They sign Torres, who is vastly overrated, and they are streets ahead of us. BOLLOCKS again.
Uniteds signings have been good, and Chelsea have their frees and cheap buys to bloster their squad but im not living in fear of next season.
Who else are we supposed to be afraid of thats going to cause us to finish in 7th place???
Newcastle
Villa
Bolton
Man City
Everton
Reading
Blackburn
BOLLOCKS
Keep the faith you gloryhunting moaners calling for Wengers head.
Arsene knows
233. munitionsman | July 1st, 2007 at 1:35 am
wat other manager in the top four would put up with a goose like lehmann? I mean really? I know he’s a pretty good stopper but the baggage?? I have seen porters in major hotels with less… and this shite is rubbing off on the likes of Eboue. (also the fact he doesnt have 2 brain cells to rub together) Bottom line is the absence of discipline. At all levels.
Someone said this is the most -ve blogg they have seen. I agree. At least it provides some balance to the shite that’s around. Manure and Chelski took quantum leaps over the last 2 years, liverpool this year and also s***s villa and maybe even man city this year. We have gone backwards. Anyone who says otherwise cant read a legue table. 2 years in a row and just scraping 4th. Manure have had there “transition” but we appear to be “lost in transition”. We gotta give our young blokes some support and an example worth following.

Heres a thought that nobody`s mentioned for a left winger that everyone keeps going on about…Robinio, now that theres talk of reyes possibly staying at madrid and how Real and Arsenal like to barter with players, could there be hope?.Wenger we know tried to sign him and like the Baptista saga when they hear Arsene wants to sign someone they must be good so we`ll get him because were Real, even if he don`t fit into the team.
235. Gooner 4 life | July 1st, 2007 at 4:23 am
I can’t say I’m shocked at the negative comments, I’ve felt like that before but Wenger has done a lot of good for the club. Man U had two seasons where they didn’t win anything and we have been in two finals in both our trophyless years. If we can’t progress next season then start to worry.
Diaby is far from shit and how the hell anyone can say Bendtner is shit is really humourous as this will be his first proper season playing for us.
Gilberto is a world class, solid player, Fabregas is becoming an amazing player, Rosicky changes games for us; great player, he just needs to stop hitting the woodwork. Hleb just needs more confidence. Our midfield is very strong, how the fuck do those players make up a shit midfield?
Things aren’t perfect but that’s part of the fun, I am going to wait and see what Arsenal can do.
236. Benny Daley | July 1st, 2007 at 5:44 am
Arsenal are at best bad for a few seasons lets face it? Bad for most last season. rats and sinking ship. Fab staying is our only hope. and thats only in 3 seasons time.

DAVE R U HELBS AGENT.
I dont read the sun mate, HE IS SHIT.
Its not about retaining the ball, You can give the ball away 50% of the time as long as the other 50% you are making assists and shooting - you need to do this to score.
Helb does fuck all, and if you think we will win the PL with helb playing the majority of games, YOUR A MUPPET.
239. Danish Gooner | July 1st, 2007 at 1:27 pm

the only one that could replace Henry is Eto’o but if we buy Babel now in a year or two he could even be better than Henry. So lets buy Babel! And of cours Sagna i like him 2
241. AFIF HOTEIT | July 2nd, 2007 at 10:25 am
HI KNOWING THAT ANELKA COULD JOIN ARSENAL TO REPLACE HENRY!!!!!! MAKE ME SAD BECOZ THIS PLAYER DONT HAVE A STABLE PERFORMANCE PLUS ANELKA TODAY IS NOT LIKE ANELKA WHE HE SIGNED FROM YEARS.HENRY LEFT THE TEAM BECOZ ARSENAL DIDNT GET WHAT HE WANT AND I MEANT A BIG STRIKER TO PLAY BESIDE HIM SO HOW CAN WE DEPEND ONL ON ANELKA ALONE IN FRONT!!!??? THE IDEAL REPLACEMENT FOR HENRY IS NOT ONLY GETTING 1 PLAYER BUT IN FACT TWO.FROM THOSE TWO I WISH TO SEE BABEL AND BESIDE HI HUNTLEAR OR TEVEZ OR ETO THAT’S WHAT WE WANT AND NOT ANELKA THE ARROGANT PLAYER
