Wenger & Grimandi to sign up today?

0 guns June 29th, 2007

Last night, BBC London reported that at an “emergency” board meeting today, Arsene Wenger would extend his contract, whilst ratifying the appointment of a Director of Football: Gilles Grimandi. Whilst arseblog reports that these stories may be “premature”, it would correlate with the information I’ve recieved from elsewhere if something happened in the next few days.

Getting Grimandi signed up would enable us to head out on the transfer trail. His first port of call might be Auxerre, where Barkary Sagna resides. His Vice-President has come out and spoken on the subject, bleating about Sagna’s desire to leave. Frankly, if you really wanted to keep hold of a player, you wouldn’t keep going to the press and saying, “Oh dear oh dear, I hope Arsenal don’t come back with a multi-million pound offer, because then we’ll definitely sell…”. Auxerre always have, and always will be, a selling club. If our interest is real, Sagna is a definite possibility.

However, he’s hardly the sort of player who will appease our disgruntled fanbase. One name that would, perhaps, is Carlos Tevez. Tevez yesterday turned down a move to Inter Milan, and his slave-driver Kia Joorabchian said of the decision:

“Inter put a deadline on the decision and Carlos’ heart is really in the Premier League.”

Throw in the fact that Joorabchian is an Arsenal fan and Tevez has previously spoken openly about wanting to stay in London, and we’ve got to be in with a shout…

Cesc Fabregas has been named our Official Player of the Year. Gilberto woz robbed.

ps. Congratulations to Spurs on getting Bent. For £5m more, they could’ve had Michael Owen AND Obafemi Martins. I don’t know if that says more about the stupidity of Newcastle or Spurs.

Best thing about this summer - Talking about it would never do it justice, but you know

  • 12. TopCat  |  June 29th, 2007 at 10:53 am

I know its easy to feel like we are missing out on players when other teams make so called “big name signings”. But I haven’t seen any players bought yet that we would

    a) Have genuinely bid for
    b) Paid the size of the fee they went for.

So lets wait till AW is back from Butlins and Grimandi starts his new job and see where we go from there.

  • 13. Stupid Bastard  |  June 29th, 2007 at 10:54 am

Sagna is a done deal. He will be our number one RB, with Eboue playing in RM at times until the ANC. Sagna & Hoyte will also be cover for Clichy.

If Reyes doesnt come back, although Walcott is an option at LW, we will need to strengthen here.

Unless Bendtner is already world class, we need a striker to replace Titi. Id be happy with Tevez or Martins.

Pre season training starts in a couple of weeks, so, Arsene, id like these transfers completed in the next nine days.

  • 15. Cuzzy  |  June 29th, 2007 at 10:55 am

i changed my mind about bent after seeing some of his stats. Dont think he will be a top class player but still he is good at scoring goals, he just needs to wrk on the rest of his game and he will improve, but if he becomes a big time charlie then he might be the new micheal ricketts

  • 16. TopCat  |  June 29th, 2007 at 10:56 am

i think he will be underated and will be big…

but i watched mexico the other day

nery castillo looks a great player bit too left footed but he tore brazil apart

  • 21. Redtop  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:01 am

Pre season training starts next week. Tuesday or wednesday I believe. If no players arrive by then, I think you can safely assume none actually will or it will happen on the last day of the transfer window. Wenger will be tied up with the squad & then the training camp etc.

I think he is waiting for everyone else to do their business first, because we cannot compete with chelski, liverpool, man utd, spuds, portsmouth, villa or newcastle on the finance front. It means we are always outbid, so he has to wait for deals to collapse or for players that no other team wants!!

  • 22. TopCat  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:01 am

Depends where we are drinking? The blue oyster or the pink parrot club?

  • 23. Ruralgoon  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:03 am

What used to be funny was when my ex and I used to go to the bar and order a bacardi and coke and a famous grouse… the barperson would invariably put the glasses down in front of the wrong person, then look completely thrown when we switched them round!

I hope that there’s a huge amount of truth behind these rumours… at the vey least it gives us a sign of stability, and firm footings from which to do our buying. Truthfully, we cannot expect any transfers into the club until this is sorted out.

    anyone got there tickets yet

  • 31. Cuzzy  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:10 am

i ve heard that walcott is a bit weak in training and gets bullied off the ball easily by other youth players. but in open spaces no one can touch him, Im hoping he will develop but u could see last yr that in confined spaces he looked a bit lost. But he has got quality and think the best attributes he has is his pace(obvious), he has a good first touch and his finishing. But he has got to use space better when its limited and be a bit more inteligent with his positioning.

  • 32. GunnerShabz  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:11 am

    lets nick spuds signing

younus kaboul and bakari sagna, our defence would be patched up.

am still waiting for florent malouda 2moro is the deadline…

i wont be suprised if wenger announces gilles grimandi as the man… then him signing a contract

and florent malouda signed for £12m

what a day that would be today…

usually friday is when we sign players or transfer news….

  • 33. Ruralgoon  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:11 am

TC; I dunno whether bacardi and coke is better or worse than the previous bod, who drank snakebite and black or 20/20!

  • 34. Cuzzy  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:11 am

Whats wrong with bicardi and coke?

  • 35. jfr  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:12 am

    whats all this being written……….

i hope this blog is spot on - i would love to see GG back at the club, curls ‘n’ all - and my bet would be that if he does it will be knowing Arsene is going to extend his contact - he would have to be a fool otherwise.

I think Sagna would be a fab buy - not to expensive and wont be off to ACON - so will give us cover - but my bet would be if he joins us, the boss will turn him into a CH - after all look what he has done with Kolo.

Not sure about Tevez, he will cost us a lot of money, but wishful thinking i feel.

Martins - great striker, but could e afford to lose him and Ade for ACON - the answer is simply NO, so Owen could be a target, but then what about Defoe - he must be really fed up now that Bent has joined Spurs - and he will now be fourth choice and must feel he needs to leave.
Havent they been had - 16m for Bent is stupid and justifys why the boss doesnt buy many English players - its stupid money.

I dont know why - but i truely believe with the mighty Titi gone, (sad as i am) i think we will make a huge march forward. The front players will no longer receive the scowls, we will no longer see a sulky unhappy player and the pressure will be off -
Nic, Ade, RVP, Theo, Thomas and even Alex ill begin to take more of the many chances we will create -

This week, weekend could turn out to be the start of better times ahead

    lets hope so

  • 36. Dave  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:13 am

Has everybody forgotten that beside a quality striker and defender we still need to buy at least one proper winger?

  • 37. GunnerShabz  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:13 am

    hopefully by 3pm today

we got some great news regarding the club…

maybe wenger and grimandi in france signing florent malouda, bakari sagna

  • 38. lionar  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:14 am

Erm no I meant have a really good season from out of nowhere, so do an Anelka except for all the negative crap

  • 39. TopCat  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:14 am

  • 40. GunnerShabz  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:14 am

    36.dave

florent malouda still in the running

    ryan babel can play there…….

samir nasri could be a target

  • 41. Cuzzy  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:15 am

Defoe takes shots from the changing rooms with a penalty box full of team mates. he would never make it Arse, way toooo selfish

  • 42. TH14 aka Fab4  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:16 am

Is that not the kind of greedy striker that we need?

it looks like fernando torres deal has been agreed but the question is has fernando himself agreed to move to livershite

am suprised wenger has not step into this deal, maybe we cant afford him as atletico not budging from the £27m

  • 44. Ruralgoon  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:18 am

Dave; I’m wondering if AWs long-term plan for Walcott is left wing.He played there a couple of times and looked far better there than on the right, created several good chances for himself and others. In fact if the beast and Ade had been on target, he’d have at least three assists by his name.
Now that TH has gone, the wide on the left and cut inside route will be open to him… I think he’ll be great tere.

  • 45. Boyracer  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:18 am

    oh what a night

  • 46. Mos  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:20 am

… Malooooooooooooooda to Chelsea. i think.

  • 47. wengerwillfindamillionhenry.co.uk  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:20 am

    42. No. I know that you mean we need players who decides to shoot instead of passing inside the box. But the true Arsenal striker is one who can decide between a pass or a shot in a split second. Defoe doesn’t even have that option.

  • 48. Mavis  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:20 am

Rural… well Walcott was bought as Therry’s protegé wasn’t he? Guess Wenger didn’t think Thierry would fuck off before completing his tutorage though.

  • 49. GunnerShabz  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:20 am

i dont see malouda moving to chelsea, they dont need him

swp, robben, joe cole… and the formation they play it will be difficult

  • 50. lionar  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:21 am

Rurual perhaps but ultimatley wasnt he bought in as a striker?
He was very lively in patches upfront against the chavs in the cup final.

  • 51. Cuzzy  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:22 am

I would rather anelka - has better finishing ability and has better footballing inteligence. Defoe doesnt contribute much outside the penalty area bar shoot - that wont get u far in champs league.

  • 52. TopCat  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:24 am

    49.

When has that ever stopped them before?

  • 53. Mavis  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:25 am

Cuz - Defoe’s got quick feet and an accurate shot though. He doesn’t need much time and space to find the target. He may be selfish, but in my opinion that’s something we lack. He wouldn’t be 1st choice, but coming off the bench in a CL game where we need a goal, i think he’d be effective. Doesn’t matter though, as the yids would not sell him to us anyway.

  • 54. Cuzzy  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:28 am

Torres scored 14 league goals in 36 starts. thats not that great whenu consider Van P scored a similar amount in less games and Ade. There is an argument that the Prem or la liga is easier to score (who knows) but there have been repots that we are not interested in him as he is not much better or worse than Van P but now henry is gone - may be we should bid?

  • 55. TopCat  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:30 am

    It seems simple to me.

Liverpool are willing to pay 27m for Torres.

    We are not.

    thats it. end of.

  • 56. wengerwillfindamillionhenry.co.uk  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:30 am

Cuz - that’s exactly the kinda panic buy that wenger won’t make.

  • 57. Cuzzy  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:31 am

true 27 mil is more than double our record transfer fee

  • 58. Mavis  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:31 am

Bid for Torres? Face it mate, he’s not worth £27 million and even if he was, Wenger would never spend/blow that kind of money on a player. That’s why we didnt’ sign Ribery and why we won’t be signing Malouda. Talented players they may be, but the prices are massively overinflated.

  • 59. Ruralgoon  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:31 am

TC; yep, snakebite and black is the very best way to end up loopy… hell, just look at me!

  • 60. Mavis  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:33 am

It’s also a bit of a west country thing, eh rural? You dont’ find many people asking for that in a pub in London - and if they did they’d probably be using fake ID.

  • 61. Blacks Are Red  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:33 am

    27m is utter madness.

I’m not surprised at all that we’re not in for him.

  • 62. lionar  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:34 am

If we dnt get Malouda on the wing, then who will we be getting coz we def need a winger

  • 63. Cuzzy  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:34 am

Jugs of stellar can get u beaten up by bouncers and a night of brandy (3barrels)mixed with baileys can get u locked up and not knowing y

  • 66. TopCat  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:37 am

The best acquisition of the season so far for me is Boro getting Tuncay Şanlı on a free:

He isn’t a top top top player, but a decent player nonetheless, has champions league experience, can play left mid, wing, striker and attacking centre mid and Wenger knows all about him as he was cited as an upcoming football star by Wenger after the France-Turkey Confederations Cup match in 2003.

And he scored a hat-trick against Man Utd.

Which makes him a legend in my book!

  • 67. DeiseGooner  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:37 am

I gotta go with pints of the black stuff from me old mate Arthur.

I would if I could…. but you are still hiding behind your cat at the moment!

  • 69. Rohan  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:39 am

Lads, it is simple - Martins will be up front with RvP (although both left footed, Oba has a sick right peg too) and we can put Tevez on the left wing cos he drifts out wide a lot. And, he defends shit loads which is also what we need.

Those two will be fantastic. But they might not happen.

  • 70. Ruralgoon  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:39 am

Mavis; I think it also tends to be a bit of a long-haired rocker thing as well!

£27m is far too much for torres. Even the Resident liverpool fan thinks they’ve been fleeced! He does think that they should’ve lessened the fee by allowing luis garcia to go the other way as they want him, and, frankly Liverpool don’t, as his finishing is soooo hit and miss he makes Ade look clinical!

gilberto is the crappiest player we have.

if you had seen his performance in the copa and his performances last season eg against psv, you wouldn’t suggest bert was our best player.

imo denilson is already ahead of him in the pecking order.

btw we have also been offered etoo.

  • 85. DeiseGooner  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:47 am

Ive heard that Stan Kroenke is in at the emirates now having meetings with the board, he will take over the club before the end of next season and he will bring David Dein back as chairman.
That is the reason mr wenger will sign a new contract this weekend.
Things are looking up for the gunners, Thierry will be kicking himself for jumping ship at the first sign of mutiny.
We are the Arsenal and we will be the best again very soon!!!!

Denilson is more of a skillfull playmaker than Gilberto, but that’s where the comparison ends.

  • 89. Grandizer  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:50 am

I cant understand why Malouda would want to go to Chavski!

They already have a thousand midfilders! hope arsene gets him so that some pressure is put on hleb.

    Arsenal team for next season:

    Fabianski/Lehman
    Sanga Gallas Dejourou Clichy
    Malouda Fab Toure Rosicky
    Van Persie Tevez/Huntelaar

Ship out - freddie (was once a great player) but now can only run into defenders and win throw ins. How can he possibly justify his current salary. Hopefully walcott has bulked up a bit over the summer and can really shine next season - wishful thinking me feels!

  • 90. Cuzzy  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:50 am

At 6 million less than Drogba - half million more than henry, 1 million less than Owen, and about 13mil more tha Van P - Bent has a hell ofa hell ofa hell ofa lot to prove

  • 91. DeiseGooner  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:51 am

  • 93. Mavis  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:54 am

Deise - that’s weird. I’m pretty sure he signed for them as soon as his loan at Derby ended.

  • 94. wengerwillfindamillionhenry.co.uk  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:54 am

    91.
Yeah, I’m confused about the Lupoli situation too. I reckon he should be given a good chance if he’s somehow still here.

  • 95. DeiseGooner  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:55 am

    Vic Akers has been seen buying up lots more of the letters b e r a t o & v !

  • 96. andyj23  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:58 am

I would prefer that we get the very talented Ryan Babel for around £6 million.

  • 97. Hugh Janus  |  June 29th, 2007 at 12:03 pm

Rural. Not so sure about this “snakebite-must be a west country thing” pigeon hole. We dont all read Thomas Hardy, have straws in our mouths & string around the bottoms of our trousers, do we? By the way do you know much about Massey-Fergusons?

  • 98. DeiseGooner  |  June 29th, 2007 at 12:04 pm

    Le Boss’ own words ….http://www.twogunrocky.com/SOUNDBOARDFOLDER/ArseneWenger_soundboard.html

  • 99. Ruralgoon  |  June 29th, 2007 at 12:05 pm

Don’t know much about Masseys, but we have a Zetor and a hurlimann at work, and in the past I’ve driven a Muirhill!

  • 100. Romford Pele  |  June 29th, 2007 at 12:06 pm

no way is kroenke at emirates, total and utter cobblers.

  • 101. Mavis  |  June 29th, 2007 at 12:08 pm

Romford - people like coming on here and spouting total bullshit… you have to filter through the crap!

  • 102. BengalGooner  |  June 29th, 2007 at 12:09 pm

Keep Freddie , sell Hleb. Freddie would be good as a sub - bring on the last half hour when we need a goal or two.

  • 103. BengalGooner  |  June 29th, 2007 at 12:11 pm

£27m for Torres - lot to spend for Liverpool - Benitez doen’t mind spending loads to get the right combination but question is can Liverpool afford it - if he makes a mistake he’ll just sell the player(e.g. Bellamy) and move on.

  • 104. Ruralgoon  |  June 29th, 2007 at 12:11 pm

Freddie’s said he doesn’t want to go… I know his wages are high, but I’d rather we kept him; he’s a gunner through and through!

  • 105. Romford Pele  |  June 29th, 2007 at 12:13 pm

Have people forgotten that the hleb-eboue axis down the right was a big reason why we made the CL final two years ago?

helb is quality and we most def do not need to get rid of him. we are losing 3-4 players already

  • 106. BengalGooner  |  June 29th, 2007 at 12:13 pm

Board shouldnt sell out to Kroneke but do a rights issue to get xtra funds in. use the funds to either buy players ro bring down debt. Less risky for club than allowing to be bought in a levereged buyout.

  • 107. BengalGooner  |  June 29th, 2007 at 12:14 pm

but Hleb doesnt get enough goals also how many assists did he get last season?

  • 108. BengalGooner  |  June 29th, 2007 at 12:15 pm

hope we get this Malouda guy and ship out Hleb! I think AW should also buy Babel.

  • 109. DeiseGooner  |  June 29th, 2007 at 12:16 pm

Hleb seems to be the new Gilberto in the sense that most people cant see his importance/influence on the teams play.

  • 110. Grandizer  |  June 29th, 2007 at 12:16 pm

Gilberto is by no means shit but his sloppy passing in midfield can slow our play down. Maybe it is time to let him go, and let toure take his place.
Drenthe for Holland looks good and is powerful and takes on players. Quaresma, that i would like to see - he tore us to shreds in champions league.

  • 111. Hugh Janus  |  June 29th, 2007 at 12:17 pm

Thing with Freddie is that when he’s playing shite at least he’ll get his foot stuck in, rather than sulking out of the game like others

  • 112. BengalGooner  |  June 29th, 2007 at 12:17 pm

Well we are comparing him to Pires,Lundberg,Overmars,Wiltord(also played on the wing and scored) - , and he doesnt measure up.

  • 113. BengalGooner  |  June 29th, 2007 at 12:18 pm

    112 - i’m talking about Hleb

  • 114. BengalGooner  |  June 29th, 2007 at 12:19 pm

Freddie gets in good positions - only prob recently with him has been injuries thats y i say keep him as a ’super sub’.

  • 115. Ruralgoon  |  June 29th, 2007 at 12:20 pm

Romford: I also think Hleb is a quality player. When He and Eboue had the chance to form a partnership, they were a great combination, as you said. The trouble with a lot of fans [at all clubs] they tend top look at a player’s performance as an individual thing, rather than whats happening within the entire team. Hleb suffered due to the fact that the strike force weren’t exactly firing on all cylinders!

  • 116. DeiseGooner  |  June 29th, 2007 at 12:22 pm

All those player you mentioned are all different from each other and brought that to the team. Hleb played as the typical european No10, a playmaker. I agree he needs to score more but that souldnt take away from his other attributes - great at holding up the play and bringing others into play. If he adds more directness to his own atacking/shooting game he will chip in with a few goals, im certain of it.

  • 117. BengalGooner  |  June 29th, 2007 at 12:22 pm

but what about previous wingers (Pires/Lundberg/Ovemars/Wiltord/Parlour/Merson) who scored loads more.

  • 118. Gunafied  |  June 29th, 2007 at 12:22 pm

#69 well said dude! U really are on par with my footballing intelligence. i particularly liked it when you said u wud put tevez(i hope we get) on the left side– i said that a million times already on this blog. Tevez has a mean right foot, and wud destroy premeirship defences wen he cuts in. Plus hes a good ‘defender’. Martins or Anelka id say anelka - one of the 5 best strikers in the world after ronaldo9, TrH14 , ETO9,and ruud17. Anelka has never fullfild that billing as a world class striker. Now it will be the right time for him to cum to hs beloved arsenal and show us what he’s tully made of. i trully believe he can get 30 goals next season if he joins the mighty gunners. All those chances by missed by ade and baptista wud hav made given him +25 goals. He’s old i know but hes got experience him tevez, rosisky, cesc, rvp will mesmerize chealsea, manu, livapool, bolton to pieces.

  • 119. Ruralgoon  |  June 29th, 2007 at 12:23 pm

You can’t make Hleb a scapegoat for this season. Remember how oftern yuo heard the phrase “the gunners should be leading four or five nil by now” or the other classic “the gunners were all over them”

  • 120. Rohan  |  June 29th, 2007 at 12:23 pm

Lads, Babel is not leaving this season (maybe due to Hnery leaving…) but would like to play for us in the future.
To be honest, I don’t know what Sagna will bring - never seen him play, but Eboue might go play on the wing.
We need left winger - Tevez
    striker - Martins

  • 121. BengalGooner  |  June 29th, 2007 at 12:24 pm

116 - ‘great at holing up play’ - some think that could be our problem - i.e. we need more directness.

hope we get this Malouda - also would be good if AW could coninve Reyes to stay - any news on reyes moving seems to have gone quiet.

  • 122. gazzap  |  June 29th, 2007 at 12:25 pm

why would we sell Hleb when we are short of numbers who are capable of playing on the wing. OK so he’s not a winger, but if we sell him we have no cover once more for the wide positions. we need Hleb and another winger before pre season.

  • 123. BengalGooner  |  June 29th, 2007 at 12:26 pm

If Sagna comes in and pays RB and Eboue is pushed up right wing then what is AW saying about Hleb - not good enough?

  • 124. Mavis  |  June 29th, 2007 at 12:26 pm

Agreed Rural - As long as Eboue, or whoever is at rightback is able to overlap, then there is no problem playing Hleb. I do think that at times he slows the play down too much though. Maybe it’s because we’re so used to seeing fast paced counter attacking football. But Hleb’s tendancy to cut inside and hold up the play means that the opposition are able to recover their positions.

  • 125. Ruralgoon  |  June 29th, 2007 at 12:26 pm

@119- please excuse the terrible typing!

  • 126. BengalGooner  |  June 29th, 2007 at 12:27 pm

    124 - spot on.

  • 127. Mavis  |  June 29th, 2007 at 12:28 pm

no rural… that lvel of imcopmetetn typnig is unaccetpabel!

  • 128. Hugh Janus  |  June 29th, 2007 at 12:28 pm

Hleb played in the hole when he was in the Bunda’s - probably why he’s still trying to dribble his way out of trouble on the edge of our penalty area

  • 129. DeiseGooner  |  June 29th, 2007 at 12:29 pm

The european game is all about keeping the ball. As Hleb does well. 124 - But Hleb’s tendancy to cut inside and hold up the play means that the opposition are able to recover their positions. - If the lad took more shots it would make him more dangerous. I like Hleb as a player. He can be frustrating though but i believe he will improve this season and make his game more complete.

  • 130. davey b  |  June 29th, 2007 at 12:32 pm

Riquelme slows the play right down just like cesc but it is a good way to play if you have runners to pick out prefferably wingers looking for a slide rule ball to get in behind defences ,at the moment cesc is holding on to the ball to much because theres nobody looking to make a darting run in behind everything is played in front of the defence and he has no out ball because of this

  • 131. TopCat  |  June 29th, 2007 at 12:38 pm

    This is wonderful…

But nothing about “he is a liar!”

  • 132. davey b  |  June 29th, 2007 at 12:42 pm

hleb isa good player but can we afford the luxury of having rosiscky and hleb playing at the same time we will just be faced with the same problem we had last year no width, maybe its okay if you use wingbacks maybe not but in the end if you have wingers who come in side they have to provide more than opperating in someone elses area of the pitch [cesc]and playing the same balls through ,he must provide goals from that area just like pires he came inside but negated the lack of width with goals you cant argue with lack of width from the area if it provides goalsl cesc is easily good enought ooccupy and create on his own from the centre of the pitch,

  • 133. DeiseGooner  |  June 29th, 2007 at 12:45 pm

how bout using one of hleb or rosicky in the centre to rest the Cesc or in the DB10 role. Rosicky gould manage that id say

  • 134. DOLOMITETHEDOOMSLAYER  |  June 29th, 2007 at 12:47 pm

    Tevez
    Martins
    Sagna.

We will sweep all before us.

PS Totts paid 18.5M for Bent yet hes not a full England International.

    Think about it bedwetters……

  • 135. davey b  |  June 29th, 2007 at 12:48 pm

i think your spot on ive thought that for a while rosiscky could easily play cescs role i watched him do it at euro 2004 and he played really well i thought as an dmf/amf,hleb has to some how be accomodated in the number 10 role to get the best out of him for sure wether we can accomadate him who knows would like to see what he can do from there though

  • 136. Arsene  |  June 29th, 2007 at 12:49 pm

This would be a great team -

    Lehman

    Sagna Toure Gallas

    Gilberto (capt)

    Van Persie Fabregas Diaby Rosicky

    Tevez
    Martins

  • 137. Grandizer  |  June 29th, 2007 at 12:50 pm

Hleb seems to divide more peoples opionions than any other player. Alot of people havnt forgiven him for that foul that led to PSVs goal (it was so dumb) and the hate has continued from there.
Everyone says that eboue/hleb partnership is so effective but hleb cant always rely on eboue and visa versa. He needs to pull his socks up (literally) take more responsibility and become the player that we have all seen in those youtube clips. Hes now 26 and this could be his last chance to show us and wenger what hes made of.
Now herrendous (sorry senderous) should of had his last chance ages ago, after drogba made him look like a muppet for the hundreth time. The premiership is to quick for him and i think he would be better suited to a foreign league.
    p.s
does anyone know if curtis davies is actually any good and could he be a potential gooner?

  • 159. Arsene  |  June 29th, 2007 at 1:16 pm

Ziggi Johnson, Colin Pates, Glen Helder, Chris Kiwomya, Eddie Mcgoldrick, Gus Cesar, John Jensen = ARSENAL LEGENDS!

  • 160. davey b  |  June 29th, 2007 at 1:17 pm

tough one to call id say drogba because he scores all kinds of goals hard to say robin is still young and can still improve all parts of his game he is probably a cleaner stiker of the ball than drogba though i know robin scores a variety of goals but drogba is good in the air aswell

  • 161. Arsene  |  June 29th, 2007 at 1:17 pm

Nearly as good as “Rocket” Ronny Rozenthal’s miss for Liverpool against Villa…Classic!

    davey b

Stupidity is the quality or condition of being stupid, or lacking intelligence, as opposed to being merely ignorant or uneducated. This quality can be attributed to both an individual or a person’s actions, words or beliefs. The term can thus also refer to poor use of judgement, or insensitivity to nuances in a person who is otherwise intelligent. The determination of who is stupid is relatively difficult, despite attempts to measure intelligence (and thus stupidity) such as IQ tests.

    From a Spud

With Arsenal losing Henry and Man Utd shelling out a fortune in the closed season i believe the fight for 2nd will be immense between Tottenham, Chelsea and Liverpool, i still believe Man Utd are the team to beat but only time will tell . .

  • 205. Mavis  |  June 29th, 2007 at 1:38 pm

cuz - that’s hilarious. Good to know their stupid ass fans are as deluded as ever.

  • 219. Cuzzy  |  June 29th, 2007 at 1:50 pm

    nother spud

Nobody disputes that Bent is as good as Henry, but Spurs can sell Bent in 3 years and more than get their money back,Barca will be paying £140,000 a week for the next 4years (probably more than 90k Bent will be getting)and no re-sale value.
Add to that Martins is now being touted at 14 mill, Torres at 27 mill so the deal sounds about fair.

  • 220. davey b  |  June 29th, 2007 at 1:53 pm

  • 226. BengalGooner  |  June 29th, 2007 at 2:06 pm

Are spuds borrowing to buy players - i mean they are talking of a new stadium so they are going to need serious money for that.
They’re spending the kind of money i want us to spend - what’s their likely spend for this summer £35m supposedly . . wher’s our money?

  • 227. Mavis  |  June 29th, 2007 at 2:07 pm

Jol’s been pimping out Jenus’ arse. He’s working round the clock..

  • 228. Dave  |  June 29th, 2007 at 2:08 pm

What about Morten Gamst Pedersen? Left winger, fast, great vision, can also score goals. After we have missed out on Ribery I would put him on the top of our wanted winger list.

  • 229. Mavis  |  June 29th, 2007 at 2:08 pm

    or cock. whatever.

  • 230. BengalGooner  |  June 29th, 2007 at 2:09 pm

Dave - how old is Pedersen?

  • 231. Dave  |  June 29th, 2007 at 2:09 pm

And please don’t talk about Defoe moving to Arsenal, unless it’s Berbatov or King I don’t want the Spuds scrap in our team.

  • 232. Mavis  |  June 29th, 2007 at 2:09 pm

Yes Dave. I agree on MGP.

  • 233. Dave  |  June 29th, 2007 at 2:10 pm

@230: 25 at the moment, thus he has experience too. Pedersen is a quality player, believe me!

  • 234. Romford Pele  |  June 29th, 2007 at 2:11 pm

Tevez is not a left winger so that is frankly a sh8t idea.

Hleb doesnt need to be a winger. we don’t play with wingers , the full backs are supposed to offer the width, helb cuts inside, eboue bombs down the right and whips in a great cross.

  • 235. Blog Head  |  June 29th, 2007 at 2:11 pm

Mavis, Its actually Chris Hughton who does the pimping

  • 236. BengalGooner  |  June 29th, 2007 at 2:13 pm

@233 - i’m all for it - but we dont seem to be doing much - i dont like the last minute buys.Ferfie’s bought 3 players as soon as the season is over giving them time to settle down- thats what we need to do.

  • 237. Grandizer  |  June 29th, 2007 at 2:14 pm

Fuck me the spuds are spending more than us! Dont despair though cos were getin slagna n hes gonna score us 20 goals a season isnt he!
Sort it out Wenger and give us gooners a triple transfer swoop to be proud of - Tevez, Huntelaar and Malouda

  • 238. Cuzzy  |  June 29th, 2007 at 2:14 pm

    Let’s put this another way:

    Spurs:

    Berbatov, Keane, Bent, Defoe.

    Arsenal:

    Van Persie, Adebayor, Walcott, Bendtner.

put like this they have a point - theirs have more prem experience - but i would say Van P better or as good as Berbatov, Ade got 2 be as good as keane or better, Bentdner maybe as good as bent n walcott took defoe place in the world cup!!

    Any thought?

  • 239. TopCat  |  June 29th, 2007 at 2:17 pm

carlos tevez, klass-jan huntelaar and florent malouda would be brillant but then we dreaming aint we

bakari sagna is coming to come arsenal

  • 242. TopCat  |  June 29th, 2007 at 2:17 pm

So good I have to post it twice!

  • 243. TopCat  |  June 29th, 2007 at 2:18 pm

re the website. choose “sport” and “men” to get the footie lookalikes.

  • 244. GunnerShabz  |  June 29th, 2007 at 2:19 pm

    so top cat…..

if gilles grimandi does become the man with that master plan… then of course wenger will sign his life with us.

then when he signs, then we get the players as they know wenger has commited to the club

  • 245. BengalGooner  |  June 29th, 2007 at 2:19 pm

Dont think Walcott is ready maybe next season(2008/09)!

  • 246. Blog Head  |  June 29th, 2007 at 2:20 pm

Cuzzy, Van Persie is great but he aint as good as Berba, Man U bid £40 million him. I just hope he dont get injured, we need him to get our foot in the door of the champs league, hopefully

  • 247. GunnerShabz  |  June 29th, 2007 at 2:21 pm

    246.

we dont know if man utd bidded that much for him, its all speculation

robin van persie is better then him….

  • 248. BengalGooner  |  June 29th, 2007 at 2:22 pm

Does van Persie play on the left wing for Holland - maybe should consider the same - play 4-3-2-1. 1 being Anelka/martins/Tevez/Adebayor. And Van Persie and Malouda being the ‘2′.

  • 249. TopCat  |  June 29th, 2007 at 2:24 pm

    246.

Since when does the amount Man Utd bid for a player have anything to do with how good they are.

This is a club that paid 20,000,000 for owen hargreaves.

  • 250. Mavis  |  June 29th, 2007 at 2:25 pm

Bengal - he plays on the right of a front 3 and that’s how I think he should be deployed for Arsenal.
Sorry, but I have to agree with Bloggie - unfortunately Berbatov is a touch better than RVP.

  • 251. BengalGooner  |  June 29th, 2007 at 2:26 pm

RVP needs a full season under him.

  • 252. GunnerShabz  |  June 29th, 2007 at 2:27 pm

    imagine this

carlos tevez manu adeboyor robin van persie

    thomas rosicky cesc fabregas

    gilberto silva

gael clichy william gallas kolo “king” toure manu eboue

  • 253. BengalGooner  |  June 29th, 2007 at 2:29 pm

With Manure i get the feeling its case we want the player - go buy him whatever the price within reason/their budget - yes he cost £20m but they needed him - its not as of they got a manager who is good at developing players(forget Neville.beckham.giigs/schelos - that was a one off) - no other players of noye have come from youth set up.

  • 254. Cuzzy  |  June 29th, 2007 at 2:35 pm

Nah i dont agree with u there bloggie berbatov is top quality but i think Van P is a touch better e.g. berba would never score that goal at charlton - but i do respect Berba’s talent. Where u might have an edge is with ur other 2 striker Defoe n Bent. one of them got more prem exp than walcott n bentdner put together. Saying that bentnder may turn out as good if not better than Bent so to walcott may turn out better than defoe

  • 255. Grandizer  |  June 29th, 2007 at 2:37 pm

unfortunaly Berbatov, Keane, Bent, Defoe hav something over our strikers - putting the ball in the back of the net on a regular basis! People say that we only didnt score more cos henry n van persie were injured 4 huge chunks of the season, noe henry gone we cant expect van persie to be our saviour all on his own. The lad needs sum help up front (not adebayor, i hope the guys spending his whole summer practicing his shooting cos frankly its shit at the mo). Saying that, he does show excellent commitment!
Van persie and huntelaar upfront would hav the premiership shitting bricks!

  • 256. Cuzzy  |  June 29th, 2007 at 2:37 pm

    Lunch time

  • 257. BengalGooner  |  June 29th, 2007 at 2:42 pm

If Tevez is going to cost more than £20m i doubt if AW will buy him too expensive plus ownership issues more likely to go for Oba at £13m lot cheaper.
Also important season for Adebayor needs to step up if he wants be a regular/great player otherwise he’ll just be back up for the main strikers - looking forward to Bentner how old is he 18?
him and walcott upfront together possibly ina few years time . .

  • 258. Mos  |  June 29th, 2007 at 2:44 pm

    Van Persie + Huntelaar upfront.
that wont have the prem shitting bricks.
it will have them shitting the whole brick kiln.

  • 259. BengalGooner  |  June 29th, 2007 at 2:47 pm

really hope Bent is a flop- that will mean financial problems for spuds- dont think they can afford anymore big buys - can they?

  • 260. Big Willie Young  |  June 29th, 2007 at 2:50 pm

any news of a press conference at arsenal yet??

  • 261. BengalGooner  |  June 29th, 2007 at 2:52 pm

Sagna- is he any good are we just getting excited because we’re buying . . .

  • 262. Arsene  |  June 29th, 2007 at 2:52 pm

Changing the subject. What’s the chances of Henry being named World Footballer of the Year now he is playing for Barca! If he has a good season of course..That award is garbage there are too many politics involved..

  • 263. Grandizer  |  June 29th, 2007 at 2:53 pm

    yeah spuds do a leeds

surely their taking a gamble with their finances considering they havnt won anything in donkeys years.

  • 264. BengalGooner  |  June 29th, 2007 at 2:55 pm

plus they(Spuds) r going to have to borrow for new stadium - wont get as much from old stadium as us , as property more expensive in highbury -which is y we’re on course to make £1100m profit and reduce £390m debt by £200m whena ll sold in 2010.

Fran Merida’s gonna be amazing, anyone else think so? He along with bojan Krikic were miles ahead of anyone in the recent u17s tournament. He showed glimpsies of amazing skill, and his passing is so accurate. Only concern would be that him and fab would be a little light weight in midfield.

  • 269. Phil442  |  June 29th, 2007 at 3:09 pm

Can’t see us getting Huntelaar, too young, just the same as what we’ve got already, we need exprience, a mature Anelka would be awesome.
Why do people go on about Malouda, all the people I’ve heard see him play say he ain’t special, it’s just the name is getting hyped up, I think we should go for a proven prem winger, Benayoun or Gamst would be great to stick on RM

  • 270. ron  |  June 29th, 2007 at 3:11 pm

afternoon folks, just started winding down after the worst friday ever!!!

thought i share this funny email with u guys, my fans.

I never quite figured out why the sexual urge of men and women differ
    > so
    >> much. And I never have figured out the whole Venus and Mars thing. I
    >> have never figured out why men think with their head and women with
    > their
    >> heart.
    >>
    >> FOR EXAMPLE:
    >>
    >> One evening last week, my girlfriend and I were getting into bed.
    > Well,
    >> the
    >> passion starts to heat up, and she eventually says, “I don’t feel
    > like
    >> it,
    >>
    >> I just want you to hold me.”
    >>
    >> I said, “WHAT??!! What was that?!”
    >>
    >> So she says the words that every boyfriend on the planet dreads to
    >> hear…
    >>
    >> “You’re just not in touch with my emotional needs as a woman enough
    > for
    >> me to satisfy your physical needs as a man.”
    >>
    >> She responded to my puzzled look by saying, “Can’t you just love me
    > for
    >> who I am and not what I do for you in the bedroom?”
    >>
    >> Realizing that nothing was going to happen that night, I went to
    > sleep.
    >>
    >> The very next day I opted to take the day off of work to spend time
    > with
    >> her. We went out to a nice lunch and then went shopping at a big,
    > big
    >> unnamed department store. I walked around with her while she tried on
    >> several
    >> different very expensive outfits. She couldn’t decide which one to
    > take,
    >> so I told her we’d just buy them all. She wanted new shoes to
    > compliment
    >> her new clothes, so I said, “Lets get a pair for each outfit.”
    >>
    >> We went on to the jewellery department where she picked out a pair
    > of
    >> diamond earrings. Let me tell you… she was so excited. She must have
    >> thought I was one wave short of a shipwreck. I started to think she
    > was
    >> testing me because she asked for a tennis bracelet when she doesn’t
    > even
    >> know how to play tennis.
    >>
    >>
    >> I think I threw her for a loop when I said, “That’s fine, honey.”
    > She
    >> was almost nearing sexual satisfaction from all of the excitement.
    > Smiling
    >> with excited anticipation, she finally said, “I think this is all
    > dear,
    >> let’s go
    >> to the cashier.”
    >>
    >> I could hardly contain myself when I blurted out, “No honey, I don’t
    > feel
    >> like it.”
    >>
    >> Her face just went completely blank as her jaw dropped with abaffled,
    >> “WHAT?”
    >>
    >> I then said, “Honey! I just want you to HOLD this stuff for a while.
    >> You’re
    >> just not in touch with my financial needs as a man enough for me to
    >> satisfy
    >> your shopping needs as a woman.”
    >>
    >> And just when she had this look like she was going to kill me, I
    > added,
    >> “Why can’t you just love me for who I am and not for the things I buy
    >> you?”
    >>
    >> Apparently I’m not having sex tonight either…but at least that b*tch
    >> knows I’m smarter than her.

    “From a Spud
With Arsenal losing Henry and Man Utd shelling out a fortune in the closed season i believe the fight for 2nd will be immense between Tottenham, Chelsea and Liverpool, i still believe Man Utd are the team to beat but only time will tell . .:

    Cuzzy that is Hilarious!

I wish I could think of the Gunners as favourates for the title this year, but like last season it could all come down to injurys again, and who gets the best luck concerning that in the top 4

  • 273. Cuzzy  |  June 29th, 2007 at 3:16 pm

View of a spud not mine

Buy British or buy the best? What the hell is going on at Tottenham? 26.5 mil on Bale and Bent? Fark me, the muppets of the market return with avengence. I’d love to be proven wrong here but honestly, are these the guys to take us deep into the Champions League, or to even get us there? Love me Spurs but these moves make little sense. And where’s the fuckin winger? What, no English wingers available so we don’t buy one? Wake up Spurs, you guys are Tottering.

  • 274. lionar  |  June 29th, 2007 at 3:17 pm

Phill we need replacement on the left wing

  • 275. BengalGooner  |  June 29th, 2007 at 3:18 pm

Owen - no thanks too risky - injuries and what not. Go for Oba instead. Also what other wingers are available apart from malouda. -need some1 to replace Hleb.

Do we need a solid Cental defender?

  • 276. Good to be a GOONAH!!  |  June 29th, 2007 at 3:19 pm

Oba might be 29… no one is certain

  • 277. Grandizer  |  June 29th, 2007 at 3:19 pm

Malouda’s a bit like gilberto, nothing to flashy but very effective. I think he would be great for arsenal because hes strong and direct, and score which helps. Might make a good alternative to hlebs fragile/dont shoot approach. Plus french player of the year over that overated gargoyle spare ribery!

  • 278. Good to be a GOONAH!!  |  June 29th, 2007 at 3:19 pm

Hleb is a fantastic player… if he played for Real Madrid we would be drooling over him…

  • 279. Good to be a GOONAH!!  |  June 29th, 2007 at 3:21 pm

Malouda is vastly overrated… he wouldnt add anything that we dont already have.

Cygan was once French Player of The Year… means nothing

  • 280. Arsene  |  June 29th, 2007 at 3:22 pm

    Tevez and Anelka for me

  • 281. Cuzzy  |  June 29th, 2007 at 3:23 pm

agreed with both comment good to be - i dont know wat makes malouda that good. I seen him at the world cup and he looked aight but nothin special - ribery looked better than him. I have seen him play with lyon n he didnt look much better than sidney govou so wat makes him 17 mil is beyond me

  • 282. Phil442  |  June 29th, 2007 at 3:23 pm

We don’t need another LM, with Rosisky as 1st choice and a host of players from Hleb to Merida as back up we’re fine, we just short of a quality 1st choice RM who is not going to be “like Gilberto” we need someone to assist and score

  • 283. Grandizer  |  June 29th, 2007 at 3:24 pm

Wenger betta hurry up and buy cos their will be no decent players left soon.
Watever we do i hope we dont buy owen - to injury prone. Goes to control a ball in the world cup, his leg some how snaps off and newcastle get 10mil in compensation from the Fa!

How the fuck does that work?

  • 284. DOLOMITETHEDOOMSLAYER  |  June 29th, 2007 at 3:26 pm

As usual the spuds are delusional……….

  • 285. Good to be a GOONAH!!  |  June 29th, 2007 at 3:27 pm

Phil442 .. I agree. Hleb starts but the cover at RM is not good enough. Freddie has lost his legs… and while Walcott has speed to burn I dont think he is a reasonable understudy to Hleb … particularly if Hleb were to be injured.

I think Eboue might be moved to RM when Sagna joins

  • 286. DOLOMITETHEDOOMSLAYER  |  June 29th, 2007 at 3:27 pm

    Grandizer

What matters is that we buy the right players for the team, not just any overhyped rubbish….

  • 287. Phil442  |  June 29th, 2007 at 3:27 pm

Yeah, but Owen fit would be a more suitable buy than Tevez
It’s expierence to help our young forwards grow, Anelka would be perfect, but Owen a good 2nd choice, I could see him dovetailing nicely with Ade

  • 288. BengalGooner  |  June 29th, 2007 at 3:29 pm

AW must have serious transfer fund bearing in mind the amount he has recouped from unplanned sales(Viera+Henry+reyes(tbc)+various others sales) +xtra TV money.
I think we definitley need a winger plus a striker. Whats happening with Song - are we sellling him? should we keep him?????????

  • 289. Ugandan Gooner  |  June 29th, 2007 at 3:29 pm

Julio Craptista is still a Gooner
    http://www.arsenal.com/squad.asp?thisNav=First+Team
    Surprised?

  • 290. Good to be a GOONAH!!  |  June 29th, 2007 at 3:30 pm

I could see Owen absolutely loving the service from Cesc and Hleb. Dont forget, we create more chances than anybody… I think Owen could be the new Ian Wright.

Speaking of which… would any of you lot bring SWP to Arsenal? It makes me sick that he’s apparently open to joining sp*rs…

  • 291. Ugandan Gooner  |  June 29th, 2007 at 3:30 pm

Julio Craptista is still a Gooner
    http://www.arsenal.com/squad.asp?thisNav=First+Team
Surprised? Whoever updates our “official website” should be appraised

  • 292. Good to be a GOONAH!!  |  June 29th, 2007 at 3:31 pm

Baptista is gone… this list still has Arturo Lupoli who has also left the club…

  • 293. Arsene  |  June 29th, 2007 at 3:32 pm

Ugandan Gooner - Maybe that’s Vieira/Henry’s replacent all rolled into one. I blimming hope not. Although Wenger has not stated yet wheher he is going to keep him or not?

  • 294. BengalGooner  |  June 29th, 2007 at 3:33 pm

290- SWP - needs to be considered.
Do u think SWP is better than Malouda?

  • 295. Hugh Janus  |  June 29th, 2007 at 3:33 pm

I expect AW has his laptop with him - he’s searching through e-bay as we speak. ” If I leaves zit to za last minute for Sagna , I will not be az ze English zay, guzzumped”

  • 296. BengalGooner  |  June 29th, 2007 at 3:34 pm

    Who rates Song?and why?

  • 297. Grandizer  |  June 29th, 2007 at 3:35 pm

didnt mean to hav a go at ribery im jus jealous that we didnt get him to be honest. Im not saying malouda is the answer to all our problems but he has experience and thats what we r lacking at the mo. Chavshite hav shown interest cos they know how experienced he is. If they lose robben to real madrid they are not going to replace him with some unproven 17 year old. They will replace quality with quality. I for one would be happy with malouda and for the strength in depth that he would add.

  • 298. BengalGooner  |  June 29th, 2007 at 3:36 pm

eBay - mmmm - good for cheap buys sounds like Arsene- always looking for value for money which is why he wont be going for Tevez.
Definietly wont be going for OWen - too injury prone

  • 299. Dick (aka Willy)  |  June 29th, 2007 at 3:40 pm

If that’s true, Silvs (Wenger signing a new contract last night), then a what a fucking farce Henry’s move really was.
Okay, we all know he left because he “wants to win the champions league” (I reckon if we had’ve won it last year he’d have almost definitely stayed - having already won the World Cup, Euro Championships, the Premiership and a Scudetto - I can’t imagine he’d have gone to Barca just to win La Liga) but it will be interested to hear his excuse if Wenger signs a new deal. I think Wenger left the decision entirely up to him and promised to honour whatever decision he came to. For once I agree with Hill-Wood that Henry leaving had nothing to do with Wenger. Wouldn’t be surprised if their move to tie him up so soon (besides not wanting to lose one of the most-wanted managers in the World) will be to stick one up Henry and his bullshit comments.

The more I learn about this whole Henry affair the more bitter I feel. He gave our club eight years. He also gave us a kick in the teeth.

  • 300. BengalGooner  |  June 29th, 2007 at 3:41 pm

at least we had for 8 years more than any other club

  • 301. Grandizer  |  June 29th, 2007 at 3:44 pm

    DOLOMITETHEDOOMSLAYER

I want whats best for the team but there are some glaringly obvious weaknesses in our team and they havnt been addressed yet, so obviously i am a concerened gooner. Anyway im sick of bigging up malouda……Quaresma anyone?

  • 302. BengalGooner  |  June 29th, 2007 at 3:49 pm

    what about SWP?

  • 303. Ugandan Gooner  |  June 29th, 2007 at 3:49 pm

Muamba is better than song, any day. Even Seb Larson is better. Song has never proved worthy of the Red/white, I was happy when he scored against Liverpool, but the replay proved that his elbow did it. His ball control can only be rivalled by Julio the Beast

  • 304. Dave  |  June 29th, 2007 at 3:54 pm

Sign Pedersen or the Mancs will do it sooner rather than later as he would be the perfect Giggs replacement for them too.

  • 305. ron  |  June 29th, 2007 at 3:54 pm

  • 306. ron  |  June 29th, 2007 at 3:56 pm

  • 307. Good to be a GOONAH!!  |  June 29th, 2007 at 3:59 pm

Song has never had a run of games. He’s also only 19 which would make him the youngest player for Manchester United were he to sign there.

    Context please.

SWP. Good player. Bad choices. Better not join sp*rs.

Henry had two choices. Become a Bergkamp and sit on our bench into 30s.

Or move clubs and start over in his 30s leaving Gooners to only remember the player in his prime.

I respect that he wanted to test himself one more time in his 30s… but ours will forever be a 20 something Henry… and that is really a fact to celebrate… £16m FACTs actually

  • 308. lionar  |  June 29th, 2007 at 3:59 pm

  • 309. Blacks Are Red  |  June 29th, 2007 at 3:59 pm

  • 310. Little Dutch  |  June 29th, 2007 at 3:59 pm

ron, if christians believe in not worshipping false idols, isn’t the whole idea of father christmas blasphemous? I mean, an omnipitent being who knows if every one on the world has been naughty or nice, can travel to every household in the world in one night. I mean, is that not an affront to the christian God? Please discuss.

  • 311. ron  |  June 29th, 2007 at 3:59 pm

In most countries with a five-day work week, Friday is the last workday before the weekend and is, therefore, viewed as a cause for celebration or relief. In some offices, employees are allowed to wear less formal attire on Fridays, known as Casual Friday or Dress-Down Friday.

been quite busy the last couple of weeks, hence my lack of insighful posts, explains why ppl are posting like headless chickens - no direction.

why havent u been posting? stuck up?

LD, i will get back to you, a great mind like mine requires some time to answer such a question. others, fools, would just say the first thing that comes into their head.

i would never do that, i am wise. thats why i am so respected on this blog…

  • 315. Little Dutch  |  June 29th, 2007 at 4:11 pm

And another one for you ron, if christians believe that God made the earth, then he must have made cannabis, because it occurs naturally on the earth. So isn’t making cannabis illegal a bit like saying god made a mistake? (Yeah, o.k, that one was from Bill Hicks, but it’s Friday and friday isn’t thinking time, it’s drinking time).

  • 316. Good to be a GOONAH!!  |  June 29th, 2007 at 4:13 pm

god made sand too… but I wouldnt eat it

  • 317. Little Dutch  |  June 29th, 2007 at 4:14 pm

    sO SHOULD SAND BE ILLEGAL?

  • 318. Good to be a GOONAH!!  |  June 29th, 2007 at 4:15 pm

absolutely not … but it would defintiely be a mistake to eat it… and if eating it become a trend it would obviously then need to be governed effectively

  • 319. ron  |  June 29th, 2007 at 4:16 pm

should anyone have the power to decide what individuals can & cant do?

  • 320. Little Dutch  |  June 29th, 2007 at 4:17 pm

But who says it’s not meant to be eaten? It might have wonderful, nourishing effects on the human body that we have no concept of.

  • 321. Little Dutch  |  June 29th, 2007 at 4:18 pm

You could also argue that all fast food should be illegal. It’s harmful to the body. If weed is illegal, so should nicotine and alcohol be. They are both addictive drugs that kill people, just like heroin is.

Funnily enough, only 9 of those players (all of the same generation for England, France & Brazil respectively) have ever won the WORLD CUP and only 5 players (all French) have won the EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS. Herny has won them both.

SO WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU CRYING ABOUT THE CHAMPS LEAGUE?! LOOK AT BERGKAMP! NEVER EVEN PLAYED IN A CHAMPIONS LEAGUE, A WORLD CUP OR A EUROPEAN CUP FINAL. HAVE SOME FUCKING HUMILITY, THIERRY. GET OVER YOURSELF AND YOUR OWN SELFISH ASPIRATIONS. THE TEAM NEEDED YOU, YOU WALKED OUT. YOU’RE LIKE A FATHER WHOSE WALKED OUT ON THE KIDS.

The above players are just a passing fleck of thousands of genuinely great, great players - some of whom never even had the honor to win the World Cup or the European Championship - who never lifted the Champions League/European Cup. Kind of puts Henry’s selfish precedence into perspective, doesn’t it?

I wish wenger would hurry up and off load reyes. Hes made it perfectly clear that he doesnt want to play for us, so we need to hurry up and find an effective replacement, obviously not julie baps thou, fuck he was lethal in goal wasn’t he!!! Cos we leave all our transfer dealing to the very last minute we get stuck with medicore rubbish like craptista!
Mr Wenger we need to act now, and send gilles for a short brake to holland and dont let him come back until he has babel and huntelaar.

  • 337. gazzap  |  June 29th, 2007 at 4:34 pm

Song is probably the best player at Arsenal. can read the game really well, so composed on the ball, tackles like a lion, can pass short or long and scores goals for fun. he has never had a bad run of games for Arsenal.

sorry I cant keep this up, the guy is utter shite and has never had any run of games for Arsenal. even Charlton fans couldn’t wait to get shot of him and they were relegated. face it, wenger made a mistake with that one.

Shit, Earnshoaw’s gone to Deby. I’m sick of Wenger missing out on the big name strikers, fuck me we’re going down now for sure, can you believe Derby beat us to the signature of Earnshaw????? Sack the board!!!!!!

  • 343. DeiseGooner  |  June 29th, 2007 at 4:39 pm

I remember going to the beach when i was a kid. We brought the usual picnic stuff. Sandwiches , crisps , red lemonade and a flask of tea. All this was made at home where there WAS NO SAND so how come as soon as i bit into my sandwich all i get is SAND. Same goes for my crisps and lemonade which had the added bonus of being sealed containers. Explain that would you. Fuckin sand. Saying that though it was too much crisps that made me sick in the car on the way home and not too much sand.

I just got off the phone to my uncle and the board are fuming it seems with reals offer to arsene this has handed even more power to wenger…….there either going to have to let him go or bow to his demands……… I dont know which way this will go but i will post here when i know……another crazy day!!!!!

  • 346. Same old Arsenal....No ambition  |  June 29th, 2007 at 4:43 pm

Pre-season starts in 2 weeks…our best player and talisman gone…AW STILL signed no new contract…Cesc is pissing verybody off with his big mouth…United, Pool and Chav and dare i say it Spuds, show more ambition in the transfer market…We keep hearing there’s ‘no money’ but this is blatantly not true…the board seems to have pulled the wool over the eyes of the fans. money is there…player facility available but edelman and cunts would rather pocket it…the squad continues to lose key experience…AW’s policy stopped working 3 years ago…the stats back that up…the minute our best players gain experience they leave…martins? MARTINS? Lord give us guidance…where are the ’super-super class’ players?…God in heaven help us…this board & manager have conspired to take us from the top club in the country…to transforming us into also-rans…4th is the REALISTIC highest we can hope for…and some goons are starting to sound as deluded as spuds…our squad and team is simply not good enough to live with the top 3. isn’t. ‘World-class’? we sound like the fucking England team! RVP is NOT the new saviour. unbelieveable. a guy that does not have a full season under his belt yet…mind…just goes to show the depths of desperation when a guy thats never completed one full season or scored 20 league goals is the only hope…we have become a selling club to barca, their academy. time to face facts.

    deise,

get with the party……. wenger will stay if he gets what he wants but if the board dont budge(takeover, david dein)……….my money would be on wenger accepting reals proposal.

Arsene does not want to leave but he feels the board are not kicking in the same direction if this doesnt change he might decide to go……… i understand at real he will be given full reign over the players and cash to spend. this is all because of what he has done at arsenal, real belive he is the one person they can leave to his own devices

  • 352. gazzap  |  June 29th, 2007 at 5:00 pm

LD, dont give me that shite. you have total blind faith in every single Arsenal player until they leave and then its like, yeah I said he was shite years ago, Arsene knows, good riddance.
when Song gets sold, you will announce that, in all likelihood he was never going to make it alongside diaby, denilson, merida, gilberto and fabregas etc.
I saw song play for charlton and he was lacklustre and quiet. he had about 2 good games for Charlton. the guy is a liability. I can only assume that in training or at a lower level (reserves) he can hold his own, but in the Arsenal first team? you’re having a laugh. OK so he plays the unglamerous role, so does Makalele and Gilberto but I beleive them both to be the dogs bollocks. Be honest could you ever envisage Song being picked by Mourinho or Ferguson? I would never boo an Arsenal player but this guy is not good enough for us.

  • 353. Little Dutch  |  June 29th, 2007 at 5:04 pm

Well having seen every one of Song’s appearances in an Arsenal shirt (all seven of them) I’d say he looks a half decent prospect, but I couldn’t say yet whether he will make waves with the first team. His postiioning is freakishly good for a guy his age and his tackling is good, but his distribution needs work. He’s 19, there’s plenty of time for that. As for blind faith, I was talking about my distaste for Henry’s attitude on this blog months ago, and I would hardly call my disposition towards Ljungberg as warm (nor Hoyte, though he has improved).

  • 354. GunnerShabz  |  June 29th, 2007 at 5:04 pm

alexandre song is not worth it at the moment, maybe he can improve but he is not arsenal quality but there is no reason to boo him, he is an arsenal player….

    players am looking forward seeing

denilson and bendtner and diaby next season

  • 355. Barrington  |  June 29th, 2007 at 5:06 pm

    GS said:
‘ Auxerre always have, and always will be, a selling club. ‘

Funny, cos that’s what most other big teams (Barca, Real, Milan) are saying about us! Not that the sales of Petit, Overmars, Anelka, Cole, Henry, Vieira and Cesc (we all know this is his last season as a Gooner. and good riddance to the big-mouthed billy Big-bollocks) back that up in any way though huh?

And you really know how low you’ve stooped as a club when you start gift-wrapping your best players to your parent clubs: only £16 mil for the best striker in Europe?

Yup. We’re no better than Auxerre. If the fee is right then AFC will always be willing to sell. It’s not like the top players wanna stay at the glorified youth academy forever now anyway is it?…

  • 356. Blacks Are Red  |  June 29th, 2007 at 5:07 pm

Surely there has to be some kind of cut-off point for Wenger to sign his contract and sign players ?

Waiting till August 31st is plainly stupid.

  • 357. davey b  |  June 29th, 2007 at 5:07 pm

  • 358. GunnerShabz  |  June 29th, 2007 at 5:09 pm

why cant wenger just go out and spend the cash on ricardo quaresma…

thats what we need, he is the closet thing to cristano ronaldo and would be lethal in the counter attacking game, he can go past players and loads of tricks

  • 359. Anil Nair  |  June 29th, 2007 at 5:09 pm

    Hoyte = toilet.
    Hleb = toilet duck
    Akinbayor = toilet turd
    Song= unflushed toilet
    RVP = broken sicknote toilet

And you lot think these lot stand a chance without at least minimum 2 world-class additions?

    Good luck.

  • 361. gazzap  |  June 29th, 2007 at 5:17 pm

davey b is you offer me a swap of any of those players for song, i’d bite your arm off. they are proper squad players. players with ability who dont mind sitting on the bench for 90% of the season but when they come in you dont notice a sudden drop in quality of the team.
I’m sure wenger knows he’s dropped a bollock but he wont admit it yet. Lets re visit this one come the carling cup in November.

  • 362. Grandizer  |  June 29th, 2007 at 5:19 pm

    GunnerShabz

Well said i think we shud take a chance on this guy (quaresma). Hes improved so much since barcelona let him go, and all gooners saw wat he was like against us in champions league. He made eboue look little bit silly, mind u that isnt difficult. I hope eboues grown up over the summer cos im sick and tired of his antics - Sagna shud giv him the kick up the arse he so rightly deserves!

  • 363. Anil Nair  |  June 29th, 2007 at 5:19 pm

Yeah bla bla bla…you’ve been singing the same fucking lame-arse song for the last 3 years as AFC continue to get left behind. face it. AW is stuck in the 1950s just like PHW and they are dragging us slowly back towards mediocrity. but is seems most of you here do not really care much about winning and only care about being ‘better than we were in 1981′ so you’ll get your wish and we will regularly inish a respectable 7th soon. unbelievable the incompetence of Edelman, board and Wenger. He releases Thierry Henry and wants MARTINS? Someone get this gentleman off crack. But i’m not surprised that the board continue to fleece you fans like idiots.
They knnow they can always rely on you to accept whatever b.s you are force-fed with. Even if it means inventing lies about the club having ‘no money’ just so that they can top-up their retirmeent funds and wealth management. You’re all fucking stupid if you think the club is broke with the world’s highest season ticket prices. Mind you i am not stupid. I watch on illegal cable or internet stream. When this club makes an effort to be a top club the maybe I will come down to London one day and pay the stupid price of an Emirates ticket. Until then…

  • 364. davey b  |  June 29th, 2007 at 5:24 pm

    gazzap

    richardson or hleb

    fletcher [23] or song [19]

  • 365. DeiseGooner  |  June 29th, 2007 at 5:25 pm

Anil Nair - Wenger stuck in the 1950 - hes the most modern thinking coach in england and has seen his philosophy/methods copied by other clubs/managers

When did Wenger or the club say they wanted Martins >? Its newspaper speculation for fuck sake.

Yeah you so smart for not going to watch the club you profess to support. Way to go there

Anil Nair - Wenger stuck in the 1950 - hes the most modern thinking coach in england

Really? is this the ‘modern-thinking’ AW that thinks you can win titles and compete without signing world-class players in the transfer market? or the same AW that though 10 mil was too much for berbatov? the same AW that thinks ‘winning isn’t everything’? or the same AW that lets top players leave on the cheap just cos he is on friendly terms with them?

    Go figure…

  • 372. Rohan  |  June 29th, 2007 at 5:30 pm

    You American Anil?

  • 373. davey b  |  June 29th, 2007 at 5:31 pm

16 million for henry would you pay 20 million or more if you were barca given the fact hes in his 30 s has had injury after injury for the last two years and he will be on x amount a week on at least a 3/4year contract

his contract alone would add up to a over 5 million

  • 374. Anil Nair  |  June 29th, 2007 at 5:32 pm

Yeah sure..cos AW and Van Basten are always right. is this the same Van Basten that called Boularouz a ‘world-class defender’? or could this be the same Wenger who thought last season that ‘this squad can challenge for the championship’? Aaaaaah ha ha ha ha. Proving what i always said. Spoon-fed idiots who do not demand any kind of standards. happy to finish 4th and then you’ll tell everybody about this fictitious ‘best youth team in the world’(tm).
In case you hadn’t realized this is SENIOR football. try putting a bunch of kids in cricket see what happen.

  • 375. Anil Nair  |  June 29th, 2007 at 5:32 pm

  • 376. davey b  |  June 29th, 2007 at 5:34 pm

try signing world class players without the funds of united ,chelsea ,even totenham ,everton ,newcastle

  • 377. mystery777  |  June 29th, 2007 at 5:34 pm

I know Wenger like everybody else has there faults but I just cannot see why so many fellow Gooners continue to attack him and his methods. We keep gettting the same ‘We must sign big players’ talk. These people would have seen the same thing when a certain failed winger arrived from Juve or a Vieira a Ac milan sub was signed. Wenger never pays over the odds and generally gets his decisions in the transfer market spot on (lets forget Jeffers). Also the critisism aimed at players like Hleb and Adebayor is unfair. Hleb can and has been a superb player but has lost confidence of late. Ade has had a reasonable first season in the Prem and is still young so can improve. He provides us with a extra dimension up front.

  • 378. DeiseGooner  |  June 29th, 2007 at 5:34 pm

    Anil -

Really? is this the ‘modern-thinking’ AW that thinks you can win titles and compete without signing world-class players in the transfer market? - how many trophies has he won while the manager at arsenal, while signing players who grow to be world class

or the same AW that though 10 mil was too much for berbatov? - who told you that ?

the same AW that thinks ‘winning isn’t everything’? - but wins titles playing great football.

or the same AW that lets top players leave on the cheap just cos he is on friendly terms with them? - anelka - overmars - petit , hardly cheap were they ?

Are you just on a windup or somethin ?

  • 379. Anil Nair  |  June 29th, 2007 at 5:35 pm

Daveyb one thing’s for sure: if Bent goes for 16.5 million i would be paying more than 16 for TH. until the fans start demanding improvement from the manager, team and board then you can expect all our best players to walk out and for the board to comtinue to tell you a pack of lies over our finances! They love AFC fans because there’s no ambition to win anything at this clb. ‘winning isn’t everything’ should be the new motto of our club. pathetic.

  • 380. GunnerShabz  |  June 29th, 2007 at 5:35 pm

    Grandizer

we need to sign this guy ricardo quaresma he is what we crying for, he can play on both flanks and is real similar to cristano ronaldo.

he is direct and hugs the line, thats what we need…. the biggest competition would of been from bayern but they got ribery.
so we can get him at least from £12m onwards

imagine in our team in a 442 he would be lethal and of course our attacking play can come through him getting that ball from defence to attack within seconds like cristano ronaldo did, thats the reason why united won the PL…

ronaldo used to get that ball and run up the field within seconds

  • 381. GunnerShabz  |  June 29th, 2007 at 5:36 pm

if we dont get carlos tevez, ricardo quaresma should be a target

all we need is ricardo quaresma, klass-jan huntelaar, bakari sagna and i think we will be ok for next season. i know for a fact we got resources for these transfers we can afford it.

  • 382. davey b  |  June 29th, 2007 at 5:38 pm

yeah but barcalona clearly know the market and spurs clearly dont what henry went for with all the circumstances was correct i think, wenger would nt say to barca i aint selling henry to you for 16 million cause bent went for 16 million its not barca ’s problem spurs have payed inflated price for bent cause hes english

  • 383. Cuzzy  |  June 29th, 2007 at 5:39 pm

yeah the same arsen wenger manager of arsenal wanted by madrid and barca and the same van basten, one of the best striker ever and manager of holland. Are u the same anil that is an arm chair critic never played football in his life and now thinks he is an authority on football

  • 384. Wookash  |  June 29th, 2007 at 5:39 pm

i dont realy like that totenham fan….
    bloody yid

  • 385. Anil Nair  |  June 29th, 2007 at 5:40 pm

Deise: your grammar is useless. AW does not ‘win’ titles he WON titles. the guy is completely lost touch with reality and thinks he can challenge the field with children and without signing top quality. you talk about vieira? where is he now? walked out. Had enough of the lack of standards. Henry? same. Petit? same. Overmars? same. Cole? same.

pETIT DID GO ON THE CHEAP. 6 million!
My problem is not so much with AW but with the board and with the stupid fans that continue to be taken in by their bullshit. ‘we have no money’? you’d have to be really stupid to believe that one. MYTH!

But like i said. until the fans demand higher standards and stop defending mediocrity (everyone seems to be ecstatic about finishing 4th and LOSING a CL final) then the board will know that it has a set of fans that dont care about trying to win anythng and they can carry on filling their deep pockets at your expense. the highest ticket prices in world footba..: for WHAT?

Arsenal F.C ‘Winning Isn’t Important’ (but chargin through the nose is)

  • 386. Cuzzy  |  June 29th, 2007 at 5:40 pm

and stick to cricket if ur such an expert

  • 387. Grandizer  |  June 29th, 2007 at 5:42 pm

Who thinks manure, livershite, chavshite would of tolerated hlebs performances last season. I think hes very lucky that wenger still has so much faith in him cos hes been shite, and 60,000 fans cant be wrong!

Why da fuck did we get rid of bobby pires? But keep freddie (who seems to get a migrane every other week so is unvailable!) Pires has been injured for ages since leaving arsenal but as soon as he was fit he completely transformed villareal and showed that he was still a class act!

And is anyone a bit surprised that we didnt demand player plus cash 4 henry? Saviola, Gudjohnsen, Edmilson? I dont think david dein would of settled for just 16 million! but oh i forgot the inept board think they know best now dont they! If tottering shite spuds can get 16mil f bent we shud of certainly held out for 20mil + player. PHW better take his head outta his arse cos at the moment spuds and crapcastle look like they will pinch 4th spot and then we are truly fuckd!
Can we really risk having another medicore season, jus hoping that the kids wud of got better? Its a massive risk that the board and wenger are taking and could end in complete disaster if no experienced faces are brought in.

  • 388. davey b  |  June 29th, 2007 at 5:43 pm

so its the fans fault the board are nt shelling out money because were happy with 4th place ,

    383. Cuzzy | June 29th, 2007 at 5:39 pm
yeah the same arsen wenger manager of arsenal wanted by madrid and barca

THIS is my favourite Apologist b.s: you think Real or Barca would give AW TEN YEARS to make one CL final…and LOSE it? LOL. He woulda been on his ass after going out to a shower of shit like PSV in the 2nd round. I think some of you forget that Real and Barca is NOT Arsenal. these are clubs with WINNING MENTALITIES whose’ fans actually demand certain minimum standards and do not defend shit when they see it. (people defending song, akinbayor, hleb, flamini and all the pure crap).

Like i said though. If Edelman and co were reading most of the stuff from wankers like DOLOMITE and company…they would be loving it. they’ve got you conned that ‘the future is bright’ and ‘np money available’ and u all fall for it. Bang! It’ll continue…

  • 390. DeiseGooner  |  June 29th, 2007 at 5:45 pm

Yes Anil MY grammar is the problem. And Wenger wins titles. He consistently wins titles. He has won titles and will win more.

vieira? where is he now? walked out. Had enough of the lack of standards. Henry? same. Petit? same. Overmars? same. Cole? same. - if you say so

mate no offence but what the fuck are you talking about spurs ,we beat them how many times last year and came fourth what did henry ,eboue ,van persie ,gallas , contribute to that when they were fucking injured for most of the season we still put 10 goals past spurs and henry never scored one of them

  • 392. Anil Nair  |  June 29th, 2007 at 5:47 pm

    388. davey b | June 29th, 2007 at 5:43 pm
so its the fans fault the board are nt shelling out money because were happy with 4th place ,

    In a word: YES.

You really think if fans had begun to apply pressure to the board to actually stop acting like shylocks and on AW to improve…do you think you’d hear shit like ‘winning isn’t everything’? That quote is a DISGRACE and a sackable offence in itself. Mind u is it any wonder TH14, PV4 and co all stage annual walk-outs? imagine Hitzfeld, Mourinho, Lippi or Capello ever come out with such b.s??!

The best part is that many fans defended this. so back to what i said: there is no standards at AFC. happy to finish 4th and bait spurs. pathetic. until there are minimum acceptable standards (aiming for better than 4th), we will never be a big club.

And as long as certain guys defend us being shit by saying ‘oh but we were shit in 1492…these are the good times’…then there will always be an excuse for failure. you should never stand still or excuse failure by pointing to even bigger previous failure.

Unless you’re a Gooner of course.

Who thinks manure, livershite, chavshite would of tolerated hlebs performances last season

EXACTLY. But this is Arsenal f.c where ‘winning isn’t everything’ and ‘you cannot improve too much’!
Pool, Manure and Liverhiste are all BIG clubs. Pool finished 3rd and lost a CL final last season and were DEVASTATED. Arse made heir first-ever CL final before that, fiinished 24 pts behind the leaders…and everybody wanted to have celebrations!!!

Like i said. Edelman and friends are smart. They are at a club that will always have fans satisfied with mediocrity.

P.S Deise. Wenger WON titles. 3 years we’ve looked like clowns in a circus. Weng WON stuff. He no longer knows how to and with this board in charge, never will. Oh but maybe MARTINS will save us (LOL).

We may of put aload of goals away against spuds last season without henry but unfortunately jus beating spuds doesnt really make agood season. We proved how average we were without henry when we couldnt even beat a shit sheffield united team. We were hardly setting da premiership alight at the beginning of the season even with van persie gallas in the team.

i was pointing out that spurs have made what one notable addition and think there gonna overtake us cause henrys gone ,when he hardly played last year and we spanked them its there midfield thats por not there attacking options

  • 417. Grandizer  |  June 29th, 2007 at 6:18 pm

    416. davey b

Fair point, but their defense is even shiter than there midfield! Fatty jol obviously thinks that having aload of 10foot players in defense will make them strong at the back! If you stacked up gardner king and dawson in a row they could probably reach the top of the effiel tower!

Sorry to go on about the spuds but im jus a bit disapointed that we missed out on berbatov and get adebayor instead. Mayb berbatov will come to his senses and do a sol!

  • 418. davey b  |  June 29th, 2007 at 6:22 pm

yeah hes a good player we could have got ashton aswell instead of adebayor for 7 million ,controversial maybe but i dont think adebayor is as bad as people make out but needless to say i would have preffered berbatov or ashton

  • 419. davey b  |  June 29th, 2007 at 6:25 pm

maybe we should sell hleb he just does nt fit into our system he playing out of position all the while you are never gonna see the real player unless he plays centrally we should get what we can for him and go after M.G .Pederson

  • 420. Grandizer  |  June 29th, 2007 at 6:33 pm

luckily adebayor is still very young and araw talent(?) so hopefully he can improve (especially his finishing).

Hleb on the other hand will never be played centerally so mayb it is time to take the money and run. Hleb would probably look really good in a team like villa or everton where their is less pressure on him.

  • 421. davey b  |  June 29th, 2007 at 6:38 pm

liverpool is where i think you would see the best of hleb there midfiled is srong enough to give him the platform and they lack a bit of guile and creativity anyway

  • 422. davey b  |  June 29th, 2007 at 6:42 pm

i know giuly is not as good as overmars but he is direct quick and scores goals and huggs the touchline and maybe leaving barca aparently he would nt cost that much either

  • 423. Grandizer  |  June 29th, 2007 at 6:56 pm

speaking of liverpool, im bit anoyd there gonna get torres, even if he is a bit overpriced. Hes unproven in the premiership so it is a big risk by the pool!

I still hope we do all we can 2 get tevez because nows hes turned down inter, now could be our chance, even if it means spending big. He would be such a big hit and is passionate about his footie which helps.

Us gooners cant tolerate 4th for another season!

  • 424. Bubba  |  June 29th, 2007 at 7:28 pm

Liverpool paying odds over ends for Torres is a good thing. It takes away all their money and takes them out of contention for other players, like Tevez or Malouda.

  • 425. twotouchmiracle  |  June 29th, 2007 at 8:00 pm

Got in a argument with a guy at another blog about how VP was injured. This so called arse fan says it was because he was being immature and “showboating” after he scored, but when you watch the video there really is no evidence of this. He also sites the BBC which misreported that he was injured while celebrating where every other source source (bloomberg, ireland online, soccernet, arsenal.com) says it was while scoring (which why his 5th metatarsal in his rt foot, the foot he anchored himself with so he could hit the ball with his left, if you actually watch the video it all makes sense) What is the general consensus on how VP was injured on this site? Wouldnt someone who says that VP was showboating after he scored the goal smack the likeness of a Manu supporter trying to wind me up?

No, Titi - Coolio knows tings. He warned us all that his uncle (who is very close to Arsene) knew that Henry was going to Barca. So far he has a 100% hit rate, so mark his words!!

  • 432. Titi  |  June 29th, 2007 at 9:29 pm

Can anyone tell me where this story about an emergency board meeting is? I’ve looked on the BBC website and found nothing.

  • 434. Gelbs  |  June 29th, 2007 at 10:20 pm

On paper, our first team is actually shit. Average crap. Midfield that is lightweight, can’t score goals, and in depth potential. Up front we are also shit. Pathetic really. Spuds are wankers for paying that much out for an overated Bent, but they are on a par with our team anyway really. At least they have alot of British players in the team. No wonder Henry wanted out. Past it manager living off past glories and a fucking bunch of pricks for a board all shitting themselves and wanna offer the twat that is Wenger a new contract. On what basis? Hasn’t done fuck all for 2/3 seasons and taken Arsenal backwards. And here you got a team like Real who hadn’t won a league title for 3 years, finally do with Capello in his first season, and he gets sacked lol. Oh but Real want Wenger I hear you ask. Well, he wouldn’t last no more than a season. Such a crock. Even West Ham have almost a better team than us on paper. Says it all.

  • 435. Gelbs  |  June 29th, 2007 at 10:26 pm

Someone also said the other day that noone can match Wenger for getting talent on the cheap. Fair enuff. But someone compared Rooney’s transfer fee to that of RVP, and Fabregas and Carricks fee. Question is, how many league titles do Rooney, Carrick have, and Fabregas and RVP? Answers on a postcard please.

  • 436. Gelbs  |  June 29th, 2007 at 10:30 pm

What also makes me laugh, is the pathetic cunts on here who think everytime someone else posts “negative” (realistic) stuff, it is infact, actually ME using an alias lol. As if to say every single Arsenal supporter/fan out there is all thinking everything is just wonderful and brilliant and noone else except me begs to differ lol.
Then you get the moron that uses my nick to post and actually thinks it is so funny and hilarious. Is actually an honour, because at least I am always on people’s minds. Goes to show how much my points are being drilled into people’s heads and not easily forgotten.

  • 437. Grandizer  |  June 29th, 2007 at 10:32 pm

Gelbs u speak alot of sense, we go on about our brillant squad but man u r the ones who hav spent the money and got trophies. We spend fuck all and win fuck all

  • 438. Gelbs  |  June 29th, 2007 at 10:35 pm

Oh, and wow. At the thought of Martins arriving for a wasteful 13 million. Interesting, what happens when the African Cup of Nations is on and half our players piss off for 6 weeks? Guess Wenger will then be complaining about how the timing is all wrong. Well, how about not signing African players all the time eh? Funny too, that all the players we are linked too, we could of got for a lesser fee before they joined new clubs the previous summer. And the fact is, why try and add decent quality if at all when a star player leaves, when the point is to add quality WITH quality?! And it is a bit like us when we could of sold Henry, Vieira, Edu, Wiltord for lots more money than we did by holding out for another year. Though it was a mistake to lose most of those players anyway.

  • 439. Grandizer  |  June 29th, 2007 at 10:37 pm

wenger would not go 2 real as he would be sacked within the year. He knows he has it pretty easy at arsenal where he has complete control. Graham hunter on talk shite was saying that capello got sacked cos he was to opnionated and was not going to be pushed around by the president. So I cant see wenger ever wanting to put up with all that shit. Hes beta staying at arsenal and putting up with shit from us instead

  • 440. Gelbs  |  June 29th, 2007 at 10:49 pm

I along with others, predicted most of this shit practically a year ago. Certainly throughout the season. Yet people come on here stating I don’t know what I am talking about etc lol. Nothing beats being right. The so-called “pessimism” has majorly outfought the positives as well. Can’t wait to watch the season unfold with it being the same old shit. Whilst Henry is guiding Barca onto a league title etc. Won’t make a shit bit of difference if we kept Henry, we get Anelka or Martins or even Tevez, we still won’t be winning anything of significance next season. But hey, look on the bright side, at least Ljungberg has yet again stated the rest of his career at Arsenal. Piece of shit like that who gets injured and offers nothing. And comes out with shit about how much they are up for winning stuff. Talks cheap.

  • 441. Hugh Janus  |  June 29th, 2007 at 10:58 pm

Gelbs. Talks not cheap, Ive just had my phone bill.

  • 442. Hugh Janus  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:05 pm

Two spuds are on a camping holiday in the Florida everglades, when one spots an alligator with a human head and arm sticking out of its mouth. One spud says to the other “look at that flash twat with the Lacoste sleeping bag.”

  • 443. Timus  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:20 pm

So… what happened at this so-called ‘emergency board meeting’?

  • 444. SteveE  |  June 29th, 2007 at 11:50 pm

Hello all, I don’t normally contribute, but this is all getting a bit stupid. Does anybobody really think we are worse off under Arsene? We have had a golden age. I agree we have to buy players, but all this negative feedback helps no one. We never had the spending power of other clubs , but we have still managed to win things. Be happy and trust in Arsene.

  • 445. Oracle  |  June 30th, 2007 at 12:11 am

    Gelbs

You make some valid points about the squad but chill out, things aren’t that bad. We don’t need major surgery just a bit of tweaking here and there.

Yes, there are players like Ljungberg,Hleb & Adebayor who should be nowhere near the squad and others that are simply not ready yet but do have the ability to step up at a later date.

The problem is the board. They are taking us for a ride charging us top dollar for an inferior product that is not fit for purpose. We were promised when the stadium was built that we will be able to compete for all the top players. So far we have lost all our top players in the pursuit of the stadium. Its time to speculate and give the fans what we have already paid for.

  • 446. Patson  |  June 30th, 2007 at 12:15 am

Gelbs is right. 99%. Maybe he don’t put it the best but at the end of the day there just seems to be far too many comedians with no realism at all. Anybody that knows anything about football will tell you that this Arsenal team has not been good enough for 3 years. We had a CL freak run and there’s your load. Frankly, not sure who’s to blame but I am thinking board and Wenger. AW IS living on past glories. He is a great coach but over the last 3 years he cannot justify this status. 24 pts, 12 and 21 pts behind the leaders is awfu; His decision-making on Vieira was just wrong. All the optimist rose-tinted folk can say what they want but we’ve won nothing since he left. Our midfield does not score enough, our attackers are fucking awful bar VP (who is a sicknote) and our defence leaks them non-stop. Our keeper is a liability and the manager’s tactics are shocking. Some players lack motivation and as Gelbs and the other guy rightly said. People talk about Rooney and Carrick but, quality gets you titles. So many fans sound deluded by saying ‘RVP will do the biz next year’. It’s humorous.

We continue to sell quality and not replace it. 3 seasons ago our squad had players like Edu, Vieira, Henry, Bergkamp and we were crap - but least we fluked the FA Cup. Fast forward Wenger releasing all the experience and the result has been comical failure. A total of a 45-point defecit in 2 seasons is nothing short of a disgrace. A perfect example of how AW never learns his lessons is that he wants to sign Martins. When the ACN begins, AW will moan about players away. Well done.

Those who defend AW by saying ‘oh look Real and Barca want him’ I say this: Barca wanted Venables. He went, he was budget, he got sacked. Real want Wenger? Dear God he wouldn’t even last the year! Imagine this. Arsene Wenger has had 10 years to make an impact on the CL with some of the best players in the game. What has he done? It took him 10 years to make a CL final and lose. You think Real would put up with the 2 displays vs PSV??! Ha ha ha. He would be out on his arse in a blink.

AFC is the perfect club for Arsene Wenger because it has a fanbase of Apologists who will never demand any top performances. Wenger can give away top players at discount prices and bring in no replacements. And these excuses about money are hilarious. Anyone that believes this board and club has no cash is crazy and as deluded as a Spud. Perhaps you WANT to believe this as it would justify the dross on offer at the Emirates these days. Money is there. The ambition to spend it and improve simply isn’t there.

‘The Future’s Bright’? Ha ha ha. Lol. Where can I buy a pair of these rose-tinted glasses?

  • 447. Patson  |  June 30th, 2007 at 12:20 am

Post 445 is mightily fierce. Like it. I like that. At last, somebody who sees the light. The prices the fans are being charged to watch a glorified youth team are quite simply, ridiculous! Apparently we moved to the new stadium to compete with the big boys? REALLY? Fuck me coulda fooled me. If competing with the big boys means insisting that you have ‘no money to spend’ even though Arsenal ticket cost 125% more than a ticket to see FC Barcelona play…Wow.

Paying to see Ronaldinho, Eto, Messi, Henry, Xavi and Deco: £25

Paying to see Akinbayor, Hoyte, Hleb, Bendtner and friends: £66

    Go figure.

Anybody that cannot see this board are taking us for a ride needs to stop the crystal meth.

  • 448. Vincent  |  June 30th, 2007 at 12:23 am

Another day, same shit at afc. my goodness when will the shiteness stop? when will papa Smurf Wenger finally stop the stinky stench by cutting short his holidays so he can change the foul shit from cesc and hoyte’s nappies? i hear akin bayor needs papa Smurf to feed him more ruskies baby-biscuits. perhaps breast-feeding that big fucking useless over-sized lump might teach the prick to score! lol. really is a pathetic state of affairs. basically this board r taking the living piss and i been saying it ages. at last seems like some fans are waking up to it. the prices you’re being charged just to watch some kiddies munch on fruitellas and let poo run through their nappies is ridiculous. this squad and team is 92% shit make no mistake. not good enough. AW releases TH14 and wot does he do? martins. oh help us someone…please have mercy…we were supposed to add quality but i suppose TH got fed up of having to breast-feed cesc and push the prams around the changing rooms. why the fuck would he wanna stick round and eat apple baby-food compote when he could go spain and feast on a tapas? as for AW no transfers in yet. oh although he still found the time to release our best player on the cheap. really says it all about this board when the CHARLTON board show more resolve to hold out for more money for BENT. pathetic. says it all about this board though. so AW is back on holiday again now looking for new stink-proof nappies for babies fabregas, clichy and akinbayor. let’s see the rose-tinted brigade ask for street parties and crack open the vintage panda strawberry fruit-pop as we go yet another season without looking competitive. i cannot believe the lack of ambition with some fans. instead of demanding better than 4th and 20+ pts behind, all they do is defend it and say it’s ‘progress’. ok.mind u s’pose 21 pts is better than the 24 pts from the season behind uh? is it any wonder this board is taking us for a ride when it realizes there’s nothing but sheeps apologists out there who’ll ask no questions, shell out silly dough and be happy to win one-off games against manu and finish 4th? pathetic. chanting ‘liverpool’ in the last game at home to the chavs crowned our dicent into mediocrity. i’ll tell u wot i’m gonna do for the first game at the emirates next season.
i am going to bring a huge COW with me to the grove.
    a huge fat cow.
i am going to draw a big fuck-off target circle on its’ arse. then i will also bring a banjo with me. i’ll throw the banjo onto the pitch and give a year’s free supply of baby-sweets and pampers to the first dickhead that can hit the cow’s arse with the banjo. they’ll have 90 minutes to do it.
i know i will win my bet. bunch of utter jokers.

Mucus your posts are fucking hilarious…am literally crying of laughter…

  • 452. Gaga  |  June 30th, 2007 at 12:49 am

Anybody who thinks Arsene Wenger would last even a whole season at Real Madrid, especially with his appalling European record, needs to get their heads checked! Fabio capello just got sacked after winning the league simply cos they fell short in the CL. So imagine what would happen to AW at a Real after finishing 21 pts behind and being knocked out by Psv. You mad?? He’d be out immediately. In fact, he would have been sacked immediately after having lost a CL final and finishing 24 points behind the leaders. Wake up. Trying to defend this team’s shiteness by claiming that Real want AW is hilarious.

  • 453. Gaga  |  June 30th, 2007 at 12:56 am

And I have to say it makes me really sick to see how our rivals are leaving us trailing. Pool Torres…Chav Pizarro and Alex. United Hargreaves and Anderson (I’m one of those who has ACTUALLY) seen him play. Us? Well apart from 2 pre-school teens Sunu and Norway whats-his-face…and Wookash-turd…Erm where’s the quality? The Apologists claim that the other 2 shouldn’t be slated as they are ‘only youth team players’. Ok then I’ll call the Apologists bluff. So that means we only signed a keeper then yes? I repeat then: with 2 weeks to go until pre-season training, where are the top-quality super-class signings? Where is our money going?

  • 454. Oracle  |  June 30th, 2007 at 12:56 am

I don’t believe for one minute we have no money to spoil ourselves this season with a few real big hitters. By buying big, it will send a statement of intent out. It will say Arsenal mean business, it will say we’re on track to return to our glories of only 3 years ago. It will say to Man Utd, Chelsea & Liverpool we’re not happy with 4th. It will say to the lightweights we are carrying to up their game or your off. Lets face what competition does our squad have? It picks itself, there is no other option. That can’t be right.

  • 455. Gaga  |  June 30th, 2007 at 1:16 am

Well-said Oracle. Small problem. There seems to be a fan-base of blinkered Apologists who will never demand improvement or success at all costs. The monwy is there I am convinced. Think about how much money AFC have actually spent on players since AW’s been there? Surely its a surplus. So whats happened to the rest? The classic ’stadium’ excuse. Yeah. Cos all the money went into the stadium and..it’s not as if the stadium is generating any revenue of its’ own it it? Most expensive naming rights deal in PL history, highest ticket prices in world football. Yet the club continues to hemmorhage cash funds. How? I ain’t fooled. As Bob Marley said ‘you can fool some people some of the time but you can’t fool all the people all of the time”!

And those comedy acts who defend us not spending by saying ‘Oh we’ve never spent big before’….this is exactly the kind of loser-talk I hate to hear. Listen up. When we announced the stadium move…why dind’t the Apologists complain? After all, the point of movin stadiums was so that we could begin competing with the big teams no? What do the big teams do? Spend big on players. Barca, Real, Manu, Liverpool etc…But now that we have moved and that the revenue comes streaming in….we can still hear these pitiful rose-tinted apologists defending the club using small-time strategies. Why bother moving from Highbury if we are just going to carry on signing African youths and Spanish teens? Why bother with the move if, even with a £60 million transfer chest apologists would just go ‘we’ve never spent big anyway’? What kind of nonsense is that?! The rose-tinted brigade really need to get their act together and decide. We moved grounds. To compete with he big clubs yes?
So if thats the case, time to start acting like a big club and make top signings. People can hark back to the wonderyears of when AW used to turn turd into gold but them days are long-gone. Look at the last 3 years.

Which is why I laugh when some guys go ‘Oh we are different…we are Arsenal and we don’t need class signings’…

Yeah sure. The 45-point defecit total of the last 2 years speaks volumes…

  • 456. Kem  |  June 30th, 2007 at 1:18 am

I’ve not posted anything on here for about a month. Just to see how the season would end. LOOOOOOOOOL. They’ve made me pay £1,165 again next season for utter mediocrity. Not happy at all. If I see this same shit again next season, I wont renew, dont matter though - some other mug who’s on the 1 million person long waiting list will snap it up without thought.

The PR at this club is an utter joke. Hill-Wood is plainly a cunt. It’s there for all to see. Completing deals with the colorado rapids and then saying “we dont want his sort”. Makes me fukkin laugh the way this club has accepted mediocre results, the board AND Wenger.

LETS ADD TO THE RETARD VOLUMES……it’s been a while.

Finding time to sell your best player & legendary top goalscorer, but not finding time to bring in new players. Although again finding time to fly out to Norway & sign an embryo = RETARD.

Appointing Grimandi as Director of football = RETARD.

Wenger accepting a shockingly poor season, and then going on two holidays to pat himself on the back. Wenger & the whole of Arsenal have been on holiday since mid-february!! = RETARD.

Not conducting your main transfer business early on = RETARD.

Such a joke. The apologists can really fuck off. So shit scared if Wenger leaves, what we didn’t win anything before Wenger came then ? Utter idiots.

This club wanna charge big money, but dont act like a big club.

Look at BAYERN MUNICH. They were utterly outraged by their season. NO ONE WENT ON HOLIDAY UNTIL THE CLUB SORTED THE MESS & BROUGHT IN PLAYERS TO FRESHEN THEIR SQUAD. TONI & RIBERY COME INTO THE CLUB IN THE SPACE OF A WEEK.

Look at MAN U. CONDUCT THEIR BUSINESS EARLY!!

Look at Barca. TOTALLY UNSATISFIED WITH THEIR SEASON. SO THEY SIGN HENRY, ABIDAL & YAYA TOURE. THATS HOW BIG CLUBS WORK, NO ONE GOES ON HOLIDAYS UNTIL THIS SHIT IS SORTED OUT!!! Its OK though their fans pay £500 a season ticket to watch Henry, Messi, Eto’o, Ronaldinho, Deco, Puyol, Thuram. We pay £1100 to watch Hleb, Adebayor, Eboue (cunt) & liability Lehmann.

I cant wait till next season when Fabregas & Gallas demand transfers because this club of late accepts mediocrity (such as Hleb playing a multitiude of games last season). Not surprised he got booed last season. the mug.

LMAO @ Apologists thinking Real want Wenger. He’s lost every EUROPEAN FINAL HE’S REACHED. DEL BOSQUE GOT SACKED FOR WINNING, YES WINNING!, TWO CL’S IN THREE YEARS!

”By buying big, it will send a statement of intent out. That can’t be right.”
    ——————————————————
2 Problems with that Oracle mate:
    1) AW’s never heard of competition for places. He thinks only of a first 11 and when he gets 1 or 2 injuries, the whole squad goes to pot. Just look at last season with RVP and TH14,
    2) The other problem Oracle dude is, it seems most fans are happy with 4th these days. Which would explain why the Apologists continue to defend the shower of shit we see, This squad is poor. Very poor. So far, our front 2 is Ade-Tool & RVP. One good, the other rubbish.

So long as we come 4th and Fizman and Edelman get their CL cash-cow then they won’t care.

Well here’s a funny one for you: I think that if AW and the board continue in this vain, we will not even make it past the CL qualifiers. It will teach this board, along with the Apologist fans, a good lesson. A big kick up the arse is needed to get things right at this club.

  • 460. Kem  |  June 30th, 2007 at 1:34 am

I cant believe this club accepts further mediocrity by appointing Gilles Grimandi as our Director of Football. Fucking joke.

  • 461. Oracle  |  June 30th, 2007 at 1:36 am

This feels like George Graham’s last stand. Facing the possibility of relegation and an embarrising bung investigation he put Arsenal’s future in the hands of his last 3 major signings; Hartson, Helder & Kiwomya. Needless to say he was sacked and the rest is history as they say.

I would hate for Wenger to get sacked or move on but he has to stop showing faith in some of his players and tell them they’re not good enough. He has replace them with experienced “does what it say on the tin” players. I’m not talking wholesale changes but enough to increase the quality, strength & pace that currently is missing from our team.

  • 462. Dan  |  June 30th, 2007 at 1:36 am

LOL @ Kem! The RETARD files are back!!! The example you used with Bayern is perfect. Nobody went on holiday until things were sorted. Sorted their shit out with Ribery, Tonni AND Klose. Worked overtime to get their targest in and sort things. Meanwhile over at AFC AW has found the time for TWO holidays (Sardinia and France). What for? Add to that he ain’t signed a contract too. He found the time to sell out best player. Apparently Arsene is ’searching for targets’ according to the apologists. Yet he stoll found the time to fly out to Norway to negotiate for the latest ‘Fruitella-kid’ as Marcus would call it (lol). Unreal. Pre-season starts in 2 weeks and nothing. Usually, at BIG clubs, transfers are done early or in the pipeline now.

Yet again though at big clubs, they do not sell the world’s best striker for less than Darren Bent. The worst part is they don’t even seem to care about appeasing the fans. Feel sorry for you Kem. £1,200 to watch that dross? Ain’t worth the money.
That’s almost 3 season tickets at Barcelona. Ha ha LOL.
I am no mug and won’t renew jack shit. No chance. So long as this board are taking me for a ride then no way in hell. They’re lucky demand is outstripping supply for the moment but another season of dross like this and believe me, it will not last. Especially with teams like Spud and Newcastle breathing down our necks in 4th.

  • 463. Gary  |  June 30th, 2007 at 1:56 am

I have a theory: Arsene Wenger will sign no one to replace TH14 and will keep faith in Bendtner, Akinbayor and RVP. I will laugh. Loud. Oracle Wenger will never be sacked can’t you see? He’s Edelman’s dream. Enjoys signing young dross and the club spin it as ‘the Future’s bright’. The Apologists fall for it every time.
I think the best point was made by Gaga. W moved to compete wuth the big clubs and take the next step up. Yet everything we do smacks of a club stuck in the small-time. Fans who demand no improvement and happy with 4th, fans who don’t question where the money is being spend (stadium still? don’t make me laugh!) and a manager obsessed with overhyped youths. Once our top players gather experience they leave. If we were a top club, Barca would not come and pick our players off at will. We are fair game. Instead of acting like a small club, we continue to try and do things on the cheap, like a Sheffield or a Bolton.
Apologists excise this with ‘Arsene never gets ripped-off in the transfer market’

This wouldn’t happen to be the same Arsene Wenger who spent 10 million on Hleb, 8 million on Adebayor and 8 million on a sicknote in Rosicky, while selling off our best player for less money than Darren Bent. Is it?

Even the Spuds, with no CL football EVER, no Nike deal, much cheaper season tickets, no stadium naming rights, revenue far far less than our gate revenue and global merchandising…as well as having spent way more per average than us…have made a statement in the market.

Yes, I know we finished ahead of them always. But is that what we’ve become? Back to bating Spuds? I thought we were better than that?
When you consider all these things and consider that the Spuds gimp us in the transfer market…are you telling me there are still some idiots out there that believe there is ‘no money’ to spend?

Lol. You wait and watch to see how that TH transfer cash disappears down a dark hole (Edelman’s/Fizman’s pockets)

  • 464. Oracle  |  June 30th, 2007 at 1:56 am

These are the players we have lost in the last two years .

    Lauren Campbell (Cygan) Cole
    Reyes Edu Vieira Pires
    Bergkamp Henry

Look at the experience, pace, skill, strength that we have lost and in their place we have replaced them with junior & inferior players. I accept some were past their best or getting old but that doesn’t excuse what we have in their place. What is the point of playing in a half-filled shiney new stadium with average players and fighting to get into the UEFA cup.

The only good thing that might come out of this would be all the plastics going back to their armchairs.

  • 465. Kem  |  June 30th, 2007 at 2:05 am

Aaah that’s it, KLOSE. I was trying to think of the other player they signed.

I seriously want answers from this board, it’s alright though, the majority of our fans accept utter mediocrity for £1,100 a season. And dont demand anyhting. When I read the Bayern Munich thing I was amazed yet I admired them. I even read somewhere the players remained in training until the transfer targets were sorted. That’s how a big club acts, doesn’t accept less than 100% throughout the club.

Fuck knows why Wenger thinks he can get away with two holidays, it’s alright though, our board award mediocrity. Apparently through Wengers whole time at Arsenal we’ve BROKEN EVEN with our transfer dealings, what an utter joke that is. This board has spent nothing!!!!! I cant wait till someone organises a demonstration against this shit board, Id be there like a shot!!

The money I spend just pisses me off no end. Utter dross. Makes me fukkin laugh when people say we play great football, what - missing 25 chances against West Ham at home is great football ?? Fukkin cocks.

PSV at home was just the nadir of it all, drawing 1-1 with PSV with 8 minutes to go - no one in the stadium believed we could score a goal, everyone just pissed off for the early train home. Seeing cunts like Hleb looking like he’s gonna slit his wrists whilst passing to his team-mate when he’s 6 yards from goal. Utter pisstake. It’s OK though, Sunu & Fabianski are gonna win the league for us, along with the CL. Totally bewildered with this club the past three years.

Cunts like Fabregas “THIS IS THE BEST PLACE TO GROW UP”. WHAT ? YEAH GROW UP & THEN FUK OFF TO BARCA TO WIN SOME REAL MAJOR HONOURS. Makes me angry when people say Cesc is better than Vieira, what have we won with Cesc ?

What did we win with Vieira ? Please, someone save me from this daylight robbery called Arsenal Football Club.

  • 466. Charles  |  June 30th, 2007 at 2:58 am

Well said Kem, enough is enough. I refuse to get fleeced by these dickheads on the board. Some apologists try to dress it up as ‘loyalty’. Paying through the nose. Tell me. Would you honestly pay £600 for a jacket from Primark when you can see your mates paying £250 for better warmer jackets from Harrods? Cos for me it’s not ‘loyalt’ paying through the nose to see a glorified youth team. It’s blind stupidity!

The way Oracle put it in his post is scary. I admit, players like Bergkamp and Pires were one-offs to replace. But then look at the rest: Reyes can be replaced. There are other wingers on the market as competent. Edu has still not been replaced. Denilson looks good but lacks the experience. Vieira well we all knew that was a royal cock-up, especially with that loud-mouthed prick that is Cesc. He virtually admits ARFC is just a stepping-stone. But our club is such a desparate place with no competition for places that Cesc will play every game. No matter what he says.

The other excellent point is that we have BROKEN EVEN since AW has been in charge. Now yes this is admirable especially seeing what he’s achieved. However, that is why I find it unbelievable that some blinkered people believe there is ‘no money’. Not as if AW’s been blowing it on Etos and Van Nistelrooys it it? The guy has been spending on a par with Sheffield United and Bolton ffs. Therefore if you store up all the player facility cash he should have stocked up (this is put aside every year), and I won’t even mention the highest ticket prices in Europe…then you instantly see that something is very, very wrong.

The club treats us as consumers so I will act as one.

The product we pay for cannot justify its price in any way, shape or form. This summer is THE piss-take of piss-takes. Henry sold. And STILL nobody brought in. In fact, how about planning to have a replacement signed BEFORE releasing Henry (who still had 3 years left on his contract so we held all the aces)?

The board can only fleece us for so long. How they can still insist there is no funds is beyond me. I spoke to a Pool-supporting work colleague today and even he suggested that he reckoned something very fishy was taking place with the Emirates finances. He could not believe we could be THAT skint.

Were Southampton that skint after moving to St Marys? City after moving to City of Manchester? Bolton after the Reebok? None of these grounds were bought by sugar-daddies. Yet, Southampton aside, these teams have done exceptionally well. Look at Bolton who beat us annually.

The fact is that for as long as there is a group of Apologists defending this daylight robbery, it will long continue. This club cannot justify the ticket prices.

Why did we move? To compete with the big boys.

What are we doing? Continuing to act like a small club, pleading poverty, selling off our best players like a feeder-club on the cheap. Signing youth-team players and advertizing our club as a place where young cunts like Cesc can turn up, get easy first-team chances before fucking off to a bigger, better club.

For as long as Apologists continue to not demand higher standards and defend obvious mediocrity, for as long as this club continues to not participate with SERIOUS INTENT in the transfer market and for as long as this club continues to satifsy itself with 4th place; then you can expect Cesc and Gallas to follow Henry out of the club next season.

It’s the same old shit, the same small-club mentality and the same low standards and stinginess from the board except for now there’s 2 main differences:
    1) There’s a bigger stadium and much, much more revenue.
    Still can’t sign players
    2) Our best player has now followed Vieira, Edu, Wiltord, Reyes, Bergkamp and Pires out the door. Arsene Wenger has ridiculously made no attempts to replace any of these. Cesc? Adios next summer. Rosicky? Is he ever fit?

What makes me laugh is the delusion. Some of us are really starting to sound like spuds. I worry. I often hear oh so and so…e.g Tevez/Malouda/Ribery ‘isn’t good enough fro Arsenal’

This makes me laugh. A squad that contains utter dross like Hleb, Adebayor, Flamini, Senderos, Hoyte and only just got rid of Aliadiere and Baptista…and that plays Diaby on the wing says players ‘aren’t good enough’?! Bit like single me saying ‘Eva Mendez ain’t good enough for me’. It’s crazy.

But hey, thats Arsenal these days…

I hate to say it. But Spurs are looking quite good sqaud size this year. Least they are bringing on good young British potential. Where’s our Brits? What makes me laugh as well, is that cunt Wenger hasn’t even come out properly and said ANYTHING really about the departure of the Henry sale. It has all been quiet. What a disgrace. It really is. Really would not surprise me neither if he came out and said he was happy with his squad of strikers. Next season, when Ljungberg, Rosicky and shite Hleb are injured, we will lack width obviously, and stick Diaby on the flank instead of purchasing a decent winger. When Wenger already said himself we lack width (in Reyes). Along with lack of experience and yet he makes it worse by losing experience and not getting in and has the audacity to bemoan it. Self-inflicted wound. Blokes seriously lost it. Fucked Arsenal up and what do we have? Diehards saying how great he is after past glories, dismantled a gr8 squad barely 2/3 years ago and done fuck all in 2/3 years and the board wanna off him a new deal.

Plus, in theory we should have about 50 million to spend including the budget before all the sales this summer. And the 60 mil on renewed season tickets. RIP Arsenal. I bet the Spuds will finally beat us next season. Then again, it isn’t saying much, most teams shall.

we probarly have the most expensive season tickets in the world, and still we cant afford any players we cant be that skint, this “emirates stadium skintness” cant be there for years, we must of made so much profit last year.

i read earlier some guy mention the spuds spending and having less fan base and stadium then us… he is right and they still showing there intentions…. am just being a realistic arsenal fan.

man utd, barca, bayern munich showed us how its done, u get your transfer targets and then u go for them…

i bet wenger still does not know who to sign yet…. who the fuck we got, gilles sanu, lukas fabianski, havard geeza what the fuck is this.

30th june today and we dont know shit about what situation we are in, of course papers will mention - martins, tevez, owen etc but bolton and newcastle have come out and said “no contact”…. so i guess its all bullshit

we probarly sign that nigerian chinedu ogbuke, some unknown guy….

bayern munich are a class team, they failed this year and they got some world class players now, they aint messing around… ribery, toni, klose, ze roberto and got rid of the shit they had as well.

now i would love to take ribery, toni and klose in our team…..

anyways am getting fucking fed up as well… today is the last day we can sign florent malouda, that lyon chairman aint budging his transfer price as well….

  • 473. Dave  |  June 30th, 2007 at 8:42 am

I would love to burgle the Colney training gound and to kick all the mediocre cunts like Hleb, Lehmann, Flamini, Hoyte, Adebayor…etc. out of the team. We have so many mediocre players who are contributing nothing that it’s almost unbelievable. There are only few shitty players like Aliadiere who realise that they are no longer desired and leave the club voluntary. Most of the other players are more than happy to warm the bench or playing horrendous every week but still having a guaranteed starting place.

Hill-Wood doesn’t care about making the fans happy??? That cunt should realise that the fans are one of the main revenue sources for the club and are paying overinflated prices to watch those cunts playing at the Emirates. And it’s more and more mediocrity every season. I wonder how many young kids and parents only went to the games to see our sole remaining star player, Thierry Henry. He was an attraction and a possible reason why we sold out almost every home game last season. Soon we are in July and we still no quality transfers.
Ok, I understand that Chelski is a little bit more conservative on the transfer market. They already have a worldclass squad and even without paying hell a lot they have strenghtened their defense with Alex. So when Terry becomes injured next time, they have a good replacement for him and won’t lose at Anfield next time. Damn, even Spuds have better attacking options now than we have. Who would you like to have in your squad more? Bendtner or Defoe, Walcott or Keane, Bent or Adebayor????

  • 474. Dave  |  June 30th, 2007 at 9:05 am

  • 475. Dave  |  June 30th, 2007 at 9:09 am

again i apologise. that end bit was just too stupid even for a brain damaged gerble. obviously i shud hav sed that the spuds paid £10 million too much 4 an average player and that defoe will be off and that keane is a shovel faced cunt and that robin van persie is better than any of em mentioned, i conveniently 4got him didnt i? ud think i was a spud or sumfin wudnt u? silly me

  • 476. Ruralgoon  |  June 30th, 2007 at 9:20 am

  • 477. Dave  |  June 30th, 2007 at 9:27 am

@474,475: if you have an own oppinion you fake Dave, why don’t you post it under an other nickname? Spuds paid over the odds? We will see, could well be that Bent will score more than 20 goals next season and Spurs will have the last laugh. You should better have singled out that Barca ripped us off and Wenger sold the best player of the club’s history for peanuts.

  • 478. Dave  |  June 30th, 2007 at 9:45 am

Benni McCarthy scored 20+ goals , he cost £2.75 Million. Your logic is lame, like your posts on here. Either sort em out or fuck off you braindead media fed fuckwit.

  • 479. Oracle  |  June 30th, 2007 at 9:49 am

One of the really annoying things about this summer is that it was plain to see from last season several players just weren’t up to to the standard. So why weren’t players identified to be brought in more quickly? The club are quick to take our season ticket money by June 1st so why weren’t they in a position to unveil several key players sooner to give us fans some comfort over the summer.

If I hear another argument about finances I’ll scream, we are not skint. Its just like having a mortgage, you have structured payments to repay the loan but still have enough at the end of month to pay for other bills. In addition the club have a huge fanbase to sell them their season tickets, shirts & other overpriced merchandise. They have a huge TV contract, they have the transfer money.

In addition what happens when the Highbury Square development is complete? Will they use that money to invest in better players or pay off a huge chunk of the debt or will they line their own pockets? It is alleged the reason Fitzman is twiddling his thumbs for another year is because he is on some sort of tax dodge.

As an Arsenal fan for over 35 years and season ticket holder for the last 20, I am prepared to turn a blind eye and allow the board a nice pay day but, and its a big BUT I, as a customer and a fan of the greatest club in the world want my team to have the best chance of winning trophies. We will not win trophies again this year if we don’t invest in some quality players and as Arsenal fans we should be pressuring the board into liberating some of their windfall cash and using it to make us happy again.

  • 480. Avendesorax  |  June 30th, 2007 at 9:53 am

What a shit hole of a blog, nothing but Spurs and Chelsea supporters pretending to give a toss about Arsenal football club!

This must be worst Arsenal blog on the net, nothing but anti Arsenal tossers and dickheads.

The funny thing this there crying over players who were the wrong side of thirty, had lost their stomach for the daily fight in the EPL.

Nam one of those so called experienced players who’s made a difference to the team in the past two years???????

Yeah thats right not one of them, so all you loud mouthed goby dicks just piss off back to your own club boards and stop pretending to be Arsenal supporters.

  • 481. Oracle  |  June 30th, 2007 at 10:07 am

    Avendesorax.

The argument is that the players we have lost have not been replaced by equally talented players. If you’re happy at what we have at Arsenal now then you must be the Chelsea or spud fan.

  • 482. Dave  |  June 30th, 2007 at 10:22 am

Same thing for the fake Dave of post 478. We are fans and should care shit about our club paying over the odds as long as we don’t go bankrupt. For the highest ticket prices in the world we have the damn right to expect the best players out on the pitch and not a mediocre youth team. If we want to see youth team football we can also watch out Reserves for £80 a season. Come out you fake Dave and tell me the difference between Arsenal in 2004 and Arsenal in 2007. Are you too stupid to realise that we are a far cry behind our invincible team and were not at the top of the table for 3 years now you rosetinted cunt????

  • 483. Gelbs  |  June 30th, 2007 at 10:22 am

What a prick. Why the fuck would other fans bother coming onto an Arsenal blog “pretending” to care about Arsenal? What an idiot. Another Wenger lover.

Also nice to see Barcelona and Real looking to strengthen. Best clubs in the World. Barca lose title and immediately they are looking to add quality already to their club. Unlike us who have no idea who to sign and appoint Grimandi as director of football lol. Pair of French cunts together. This club is going down the pan fast.

  • 484. Gelbs  |  June 30th, 2007 at 10:27 am

Am I right in saying if you have at least £1000 quid each for a season ticket and x it by 60,000 roughly, it gives you £60,000,000 quid?! Lol.

  • 485. Ruralgoon  |  June 30th, 2007 at 10:30 am

Nothing, I repeat NOTHING will be happening in the form of players being signed until either AW announces his intentions to leave the club, or he signs a new contract. The tying up of the running of the club has to be done before any right-thinking player would sign any contract with a new club.

  • 486. Dave  |  June 30th, 2007 at 10:36 am

And we are afraid that daddy Wenger could leave us despite the fact that based on the performance of the team he should have been sacked at the latest last season. How many times did he look completely lost and frustrated in the coaching zone while flattening his hair and wondering what went wrong again. Shit tactics every time because of his stubbornness. Which other coach would have bought almost two similar players in Hleb and Rosicky and would have played them on the wing despite the fact that neither of them are real wingers. Just go out and enjoy yourselves. Pathetic and disgusting. There we go, Fabregas saying that Arsenal is the best club for him to grow up. Cunt. But yeah, let’s raise even more youngsters and let Real and Barca tap them up. I can only repeat myself, you don’t sell your best player when you want to win the league next season. Instead you try to bring in proven quality to show him your willingness to compete.

  • 487. Ruralgoon  |  June 30th, 2007 at 10:41 am

And of course as fans we all want to see new exciting talented players at the club…. but at the risk of financially ruining it? no way. If the board did a “leeds” to us, there’d be all hell let loose on here…

And another thing… howcome fans from other clubs, along with other respected footballing type bods think we have one of the most exciting young teams ever… whilst our own so-called fans reckon they’re a pile of shite?! Which team were you watching this season? If the strikers had been fit we’d have cakewalked most of the games… we had so many attempts on goal, we should have pissed second, if not won the league… all those frustrating draws…

There is obviously now a need for a striker; if one leaves, its self-evident that another must be bought. Now that there isnt the worl’d biggest ego on the team, perhaps the others will stand up and be counted more.

I love this team. I love any player that tries their best whilst wearing the shirt. I dont care if they are 16 or 36, full internationals or U21 players.. As long as they are trying, they have my support… GET WITH THE PLOT MUPPETS AND START SUPPORTING YOUR TEAM AND YOUR PLAYERS.

  • 488. Gelbs  |  June 30th, 2007 at 10:48 am

That’s funny. We didn’t cakewalk up until Xmas with both RVP and Henry fit. Best young sides ever? Mmmm.

    Nani
    Anderson
    Rooney
    Ronaldo

Who have practically all won something and are loyal. Us on the other hand have several youngsters who are unsettled (mainly Fabregas), and not won nothing in their careers so far. Just a fucking myth. Best youg sides out there lol. On what fucking grounds?! A Carling Cup Final which we lost and a bunch of kids who are only at the club because of Wenger and not for Arsenal. Pathetic. Really is.

  • 489. Gelbs  |  June 30th, 2007 at 10:52 am

And in fact, we probably do have one of the best young sides in World football, only because no other big club bothers with potential all the time and instead rather mix potential up with world class signings lol. Just because Arsenal is your team, you are biased into thinking a load of old shit. Just as you’d scoff at the Spuds for saying they are building a young side full of Brits and say they are crap.

  • 490. Dave  |  June 30th, 2007 at 10:55 am

  • 491. FED UP & WORRIED  |  June 30th, 2007 at 11:00 am

A week since we sold Thierry and still no comment from our manager, can this be right? 2 weeks before pre-season and still no new signings, surely it’s best to get players in and familiar with ther surroundings prior to the eve of a new season.

Don’t think we’ll sign anymore Africans due to the ACN, if we are indeed going for Tevez then we will have to wait till the Copa America is over. Malouda’s club imposed transfer deadline is today, apparently, so his fee will have to go up in order to justify any back down from his chairman.

You’d like to think we’d be a bit more active with such an important season ahead, yet we can’t even sign a 16yr old defender without fussing over the money. Grimandi to do our negotiating, are they serious? Unless he has some well hidden Jedi powers I fear he’ll be eaten alive if we have to deal with the big boys. This was not the season for us to have an inexperienced negotiator, really hope he’s got Dein’s mobile number.

Getting worried, very fucking worried in fact.

  • 492. DeiseGooner  |  June 30th, 2007 at 11:03 am

Morning all you happy gooners. Finished watching Spongebob i see and have decided to come online and moan for a bit. Certainly the weather for it. Still no real news from the club so i suppose we all have to torture ourselves with the tabloid speculation.

Wenger off to Real, along with Fab

The sleeping giant that is Tottenham will conquer all cause the signed a 10 million pound left back and paid over the odds for a average striker with a bit of potential.

Ahi cant be bothered any more. Im going to go and watch maggie and the ferocous beast with my daughter and leave the fretting you you guys. You are so much better at it than i am anyway. I have some faith and optimisim in The Arsenal. Wouldnt mind a signing or 2 though. In my view it wont be untill next week though. So it will be a few more days at least of tabloid drama. Dont you just love the football summer break :o)

  • 493. Ruralgoon  |  June 30th, 2007 at 11:07 am

Too right Deise; I’m off to tend to my Nan’s grave then off to counsel my younger cousin who’s dad is ill in hospital, then to hospital to visit said uncle, then another afternoon wading around in liquid mud and torrential rain………. and I’ll probably still be more cheerful than I would be if i stayed online with these goons ;-)

    See u monday!

  • 494. Oracle  |  June 30th, 2007 at 11:33 am

    Gelbs,

A bit of friendly advise. As much as I agree with you on many points I think you need to tone down the french hating. Like you nothing will please me more than watching our young pretenders step up their game but we will need 2 or 3 major signings to get the best out of them.

However, spending big doesn’t always guarantee success. For example, for a few years now the spuds have out spent us and have bought predominately English players, has it made them better than us? No. What it has done is get them closer but is that because they have bought well or that we have lost several key players for whatever reasons? A mixture of both I think. Despite them bringing in Bent & Bale for £26mil, in terms of improvement they’re not going to gain a considerable amount of extra points because of them are they? They spent more than us last year and finished further behind didn’t they?

Bent will replace Keane and as much we hate the caravan dweller he did score important goals for them last year. Will Bent score those goals and additional important goals? I doubt it, Bent is easier to read and less creative. Bale, well how many points will a left-back give you. A novice left-back at that and one that hasn’t played in the premiership yet.

Thats £26mil and no significant improvement. Now, if we spent that and got in for arguments sake a winger with pace and one that can score goals. An experienced forward that is a proven scorer, even if its one that will only gives us enough time for Van Persie, Bendtner and Vela to improve then it will be a major achievement. After that who knows?

  • 495. Andy  |  June 30th, 2007 at 12:13 pm

Most of you are too right. This stuff about ‘finance’ and ‘lack of money’ is some of the saddest apologetic bullshit I have ever heard. It’s not right. The repayments are like mortgage payments and you should make plans for a playing contingeny next to this. Believe me, money is available at the club. The only people who want to believe this are the rose-tinted bedwetters.

The true ‘bedwetters’ at AFC are those too scared and worried that our club will implode if daddy Wenger leaves. Seriously, I agree with the guy who said some of us sound like fucking spuds. I am worried too. I don’t care what other fans say, we do NOT have the ‘best young squad in the world’. Rooney, Anderson, Nani and Ronaldo is better for starters. Anyway, this is NOT youth-team football. It is compeitive Premiership football and this squad is nowhere near good enough. I read someone here the other day call our front-line ‘world-class’. I almost spat my cornflakes out my gob. Cesc, Gilberto world-class, Gallas when fit. That’s it. That’s one single world-class player in attacking positions. RVP? Good player but you cannot call a player thats yet to have a full season under his belt ‘world-class’. Sorry.

Arsenal F.C are charging its fans the most expensive ticket prices in European (and world!) football. This is ridiculous. Would you pay £10,000 for a drawing my some nursery child when you could get a Picasso for the same price? No. What would that make you? A mug.

Arsenal fans are no mugs so it’s time for the rose-tinted bedwetters to wake up to the reality. In case they forgot I’ll run it by them again:
    - This club has the highest ticket prices in world football
-This team and squad are nowhere near good enough
-This team has not been competitive for 3 years now
    - There is increased PL revenue
-Spurs have made more impact on the transfer market than we have. Yet, they have no CL revenue from anywhere, much lower ticket prices, much higher annual net transfer revenue, much lower gate income, and make far less money from global merchandising and marketing.
    - Arsenal FC has the world’s highest gate revenue in football according to a recent study by Deloitte
    - Arsene Wenger sold our best player to our parent club on the cheap, without giving any thought to first lining up a replacement.
-Despite that he still found time to fly out to a Norwgian nursery to sign an infant from there
    - Arsene Wenger has too much power at Arsenal and he can no longer justify it. His youth project has backfired and the club continues a decline (it’s not ‘transition’ when you have a total of 45 pts deficit in 2 seasons. Decline)
    - Since AW has been at Arsenal the club has broken EVEN on transfers. No other PL club can boast this. Not even Watford or lilttle-spenders. Therefore to say there’s no money saved up is nigh on an insult
    - Man City and Bolton were 2 teams that moved stadiums without a sugar daddy paying for it. Yet Bolton have done remarkably well and have even done better than us in the transfer market over the past 3 years e.g. they have a better striker than anyone on our payroll right now.
    - There is too much dross in the Arsenal squad
    - Wenger has appointed a man with no negotiating experience as Director of Football
-Wenger is jeopordizing the club by not signing a contract extension. This means there is no stability and no players will join until it’s sorted. This would not be tolerated at any big club. He would either have to sign or be booted out asap
    - Wenger has already been on 2 holidays despite one of the worst seasons he’s ever had at Arsenal. He went on holiday without securing transfer targets first
    - Our rivals continue to strengthen on teams already more successful and superior to ours. While we have a load of apologists who misguidedly think this cheap poor squad can compete. It will struggle for 4th
    - Cesc Fabregas continues to publicly disrespect the club at will but it seems he can say whatever he wants.
    - The club makes no effort to keep the fans who fund it informed. PHW continues to chat shit in public. ‘Doesn’t care about pleasing fans’? This fan will tell him to fuck right off and stuff his ticket prices. That’s me out.
    So there’s that.

The only ‘bedwetters’ are the ones unwilling to face up to reality.

Very true Oracle. But Arsenal as a club has BROKEN EVEN since Wenger arrived. WE’VE RE-COUPED everything we’ve spent, not spent a fukkin penny.

The board are taking the piss, they’re just pocketing all profits, GO TO ARSENAL.CON & SEARCH FOR OUR BOARD MEMBERS, it’s an utter joke, Hill-Wood can just fuck off, he has no money OWNS LESS THAN 1% OF ARSENAL. I dont care if your grandad owned Arsenal, FUCK OFF YOU GERIATRIC CUNT! Our board - Lord Harris of Peckham, Sir Chips Keswick (he’s called CHIPS for fuck sake), Lady Bracewell Smith, ‘Lady’ FFS!!

As someone said earlier this board is just fleecing me for money, Fiszman just profits so he can dodge taxes for the umpteenth year, then fuck off to Zurich.

    Andy 495

I agree with some of your points but I think that everybody is getiing a little too depressed. True we have had two bad seasons but if you look at the last campain we had the best record against the top three teams. Add to that the fact that we lost or drew a whole host of games that we actually dominated but could not find the back of the net. I would be very worried if we were being outplayed in games but the fact is we are not we just lack the cutting edge of previous years. I dont think this will take lots of big name signings to remedy just a little more cohesion. I actually think that losing Henry could well have a positive effect on the team esp. as Wenger could possibly change the formation as he no longer has his star player to build around. This would help against the lower teams who seem to have worked out Arsenals style of play.

I dont want to sound like a blind optimist but I think things are not as bad as a lot of people make out.

Whatever happens next season is make or break for a lot of our young players.

  • 498. Oracle  |  June 30th, 2007 at 12:55 pm

    Kem,

First, dont get so angry mate its not going to do you any good.

What we need is a boardroom revolution. Better still a board that we could elect and would have their tenure based on their manifesto, a bit like dare I say it Barcelona & Real Madrid.

Not sure how that would it improve us but at least every summer our new sporting director can promise us that we will be buying Barcelona or Real Madrid’s best player. That’ll put the shoe on the other foot. Imagine that hey!

We as a club can then tell that smug Hervé Villechaize( the midget in Fantasy Island) lookalike Guillame Balague that Arsenal will not be selling our best players to Spain but in fact be bringing over theirs instead.

Every summer for the last 8 summers I’ve had to put up with that toad instigating their transfer policies. Wouldn’t it be great to stick it up him, Graham Hunter of Sky, Steve Curry and the rest for a change.

another day, and no transfer news, typical. Did wenger not learn by his mistakes last summer when we ended up getting stuck with baptista who didnt hav time 2 have pre season training with us, and who clearly was not good enough for real madrid. As soon as the season was over wenger should of put in a bid for tevez, (hes young but getting better and better) but now we have to wait till the copa america is over until anything happens (which will probably be nothing). Everyone clearly knows we hav money but mayb its wengers stubboness not to spend so that if we win something next season (highkly unlikely at mo) he can say he did it with youngsters and without spending the money. We do need atleast 4 quality signings before pre season friendlies start otherwise we will get left behind. Spuds are taking a massive gamble on spashing the cash but if it comes off and they get 4th then we are gonna look pretty stupid, especially as people seem to presume the youngsters r gonna get beta - who says?
PHW seems to be major problem especially with his conflicting statements. David Dein was sneaky, but he just wanted to keep pace with the other top clubs because he could the problems ahead, surely he should be forgiven and allowed back, just for the fact that his expertise in world football massive. Im sure he would of got a better deal for us on the henry transfer.
I really hope wenger delivers a few suprises soon because from what ive seen and read many r very unhappy with whats happening to our club.
