Arsenal 3 - 1 Man City: Cesc Bomb takes Arsenal to 3rd

0 guns April 18th, 2007

Well, Myles Palmer got it right.  After Cesc and Rosicky finally grabbed a couple of Premiership goals on Saturday, they repeated the trick last night - Rosicky’s was a replica of his Bolton effort, whilst Cesc’s was a dipping volley of absolute perfection - what a way to score Arsenal’s 50th goal at the Emirates Stadium.

It’s amazing what a bit of confidence can do.  Following his goal on Saturday, Rosicky had the same drive and belief to get in the box, and when he did, finished powerfully.  Cesc, meanwhile, looked reinvigorated - there’s every chance he could add to his tally before the season is out.

Their goals came either side of a DaMarcus Beasley equaliser - a poor kick from an out-of-sorts Jens Lehmann was punished by a slick through ball from Somebody Johnson and a neat finish from Beasley.  It was a real shock - Arsenal had completely dominated the first-half in spite of not creating many chances.  When Abou Diaby had come off with blurred vision for Julio Baptista, we’d lost a lot of momentum.

Which doesn’t surprise me at all - it strikes me that, whatever position he plays, we’re a better team when Diaby’s on the field.  He again played just off the striker, and showed tough tackling as well as very quick feet indeed.

His replacement, Baptista, added a third late on, sidefooting home after good work from a much-improved Aleksandr Hleb.

One man who couldn’t get a goal was Emmanuel Adebayor, who is now without a goal since February.  You have to say he’s been unlucky - firstly with the Carling Cup Final suspension, and latterly with his finishing.  He hit the post twice at Liverpool, had a close-range header miraculously saved at West Ham, and yesterday had an effort blocked almost on the goal line. You get the feeling that like Cesc and Rosicky, once one goes in, he’ll reap the rewards.

Well, if there’s one thing we know about Adebayor, it’s that he relishes the big games.  White Hart Lane on Saturday wouldn’t be a bad place to start getting the goals again.

Gotta agree about Diaby. He adds loads to the team of late. Whether its in CM out wide or behind the striker.

Says a lot that AW would rather play him than the Bap

  • 13. James Marsh  |  April 18th, 2007 at 1:26 pm

Gunner Chennai- The double DVD of Henry and Bergkamps first 100 goals for Arsenal is pretty good, as is the 501 goals one.

  • 14. gunner, chennai  |  April 18th, 2007 at 1:26 pm

The only thing i ever remember abt hleb is his ONE goal against porto.

chennai, where do you watch the games, are there any pubs there that are not crazy only about cricket? here in hyderabad, its impossible to catch a game unless you are at home with friends.

I’ll second the Bergkamp/Henry Centurians DVD

no man , there are no places like that, Pubs that is. They do show games once i while but not on a regular basis. We watch it at home. No other go.

  • 22. kafka  |  April 18th, 2007 at 1:33 pm

so are we divided over posts now, some over there and some here?
anyway, ron, i nearly fell off when i saw that fool had the 600th post, then i realized he was just claiming he had it. you had 598 to 600, and he 602 or something.

  • 23. Glen Philip  |  April 18th, 2007 at 1:34 pm

I ask again; do our coaches spend any time with the back four instructing them on the art of defence? In addition there is a definite lack of a ‘bust a gut not to concede’ about Eboue. Witness his lack of energy in trying to remedy Toure’s poor positioning ( miles behind the other three ) when Samaras got through. How many of you still think Toure is a great defender by the way?

  • 24. gazzap  |  April 18th, 2007 at 1:38 pm

luckily Diaby is OK for saturday and I would think wenger will go with the same line up as who started yesterday with Beast on bench. the only player who is droppable for me, is hleb. he had good flashes yesterday but I wouldn’t go so far as to say he had a good game throughout. its funny but eboue and hleb were the reason for our strong finish last year but recently they have been 2 of our weakest links, while the left is becoming stronger.

  • 25. gunner, chennai  |  April 18th, 2007 at 1:38 pm

I thought the same thing abt eboue, he heas either put on some weight( i think it shows) and he was capable of beating people for pace( against hamburg, the goal) where has all that gone?

  • 26. James Marsh  |  April 18th, 2007 at 1:38 pm

That’s the great/terrible thing about footy though David. It’s an ongoing thing, I can’t see the end of the 49 run without thinking about that next game at Old Trafford and how much it hurt to lose, especially in those circumstances.

At the same time though when I think about that game against Leeds when we gave up the league at highbury I think about the next game being the start of our unbeaten run. “This to will pass” as the old saying goes. That’s why I’m not joining the ‘Suicide Squad’ just cos we’re having a bad season.

  • 27. kafka  |  April 18th, 2007 at 1:38 pm

Toure is fine Glen. Overplayed though. Maybe if there is a cracking defender out there, Wenger will reinvent him again as a holding midfielder? he has a true shot on him, one day he may score goals. who knows…

  • 28. ron  |  April 18th, 2007 at 1:39 pm

ha ha RH has just posted on the last thread, he is really clever…

  • 29. gazzap  |  April 18th, 2007 at 1:40 pm

to be fair to eboue he is still setting up chances so he might be shite defending but our scoring has come back in no small part due to him.

  • 30. *_Respect Highbury  |  April 18th, 2007 at 1:41 pm

Agreed Glen Philip. I was absolutely appalled at 2 things for the Beasley equalizer: 1) I know Beasley is lightening quick but seriously, the ease with which he was able to steal a march on Eboue (who is also very quick) was nigh on pathetic. This follows on from Eboue allowing Kevin ‘motor-mouth’ Nolan to ghost into the box last Saturday, unopposed. 2) Kolo Toure is on woeful form. When Lehmann kicked it straight to Barton and he in turn fed the next City man, Kolo only needed to step up and get right on him. Yes, perhaps Eboue needed to step up with him to play the off-side trap - but that is the point. All supremely gifted defenders in their individual right, piss-poor as a unit.

Perhaps it will come good in time.

  • 31. ron  |  April 18th, 2007 at 1:43 pm

    wot? like G-Unit?

  • 32. Geekov  |  April 18th, 2007 at 1:43 pm

I think Eboue’s attitiude is just too effin casual, more casual infact than a bloke in a Tacchini track top, farah trousers and Diadora Borg Elite trainerds going to a casual reunion night!

I’d drop him for Hoyte (or is he injured as well?)

I didn’t realise Alliadiere was injured to either.

  • 33. Geekov  |  April 18th, 2007 at 1:45 pm

Kolo is in need of a rest of tink, I mean think.

He must’ve played nearly non stop for 5 4 years now. Give him a breather AW!

  • 34. *_Respect Highbury  |  April 18th, 2007 at 1:46 pm

GazzaP: agreed. Eboue’s defending has been poor but, he is at present the only Arsenal player able to deliver a telling cross form either flank. He set up both goals at home against ManUre, set up Henry’s header against Porto and set up RVP’s wonder-goal against Charlton (though he slightly over-hit that one)…

I just do not get it though. Last season he was on fire, even defensively. Eboue is like Kolo in that his natural defensive awareness is not the best, but such is his speed of recovery that he can usually bail himself out. Clichy is pretty much the same -only Gallas is positionally sound most of the time.
Funnily enough, Senderos is also much better positionally than he is given credit for: but he is slow. So one mistake, and he’s done for faster than you can say ‘Didier Drogba’.

I personally think Eboue is suffering from the same malaise as many others this season: lacking in motivation. He is a good player though…

  • 35. ron  |  April 18th, 2007 at 1:46 pm

i agree, id like to see djouro play along side gallas

  • 36. James Marsh  |  April 18th, 2007 at 1:48 pm

That was Cescs 50th game of the season last night wasn’t it? Talk about taking some time to get into your stride!! I can understand him being a bit knackered…

  • 37. tim  |  April 18th, 2007 at 1:49 pm

Have not fully read article as time is unfortunately sparse - nonetheless I just wanted to make my feelings clear about Eboue

The man seems to make little effort defensively, tackling timidly and making token efforts at tracking back. Perhaps he feels like a superstar already, perhaps he is carrying a niggling injury - either way I am not happy with his performances and when coupling his medcocre playing ability with his off the ball tendancy to go to ground like hes been shot from a tap on the ankle and pleading with refs to book opponent players - I would prefer never to see him in an arsenal shirt again. I can understand and sympathise with lapses in form etc…however with this player I think he has the wrong attitude and he either needs to be grabbed by the scruff of the neck or to be shown the back door by Le professor…

  • 38. Geekov  |  April 18th, 2007 at 1:50 pm

Some times players have a storming first season, then just tail off or level out, don’t improve any more. Yes his crossing is great now, but first and foremost he’s a defender and that is well lacking, maybe he can get it back, maybe he won’t. And as for his niggly effin antics? They gotta be cut out of his game. His positional sense is shocking, I’m sure he was getting a Pie when Bolton scored their first goal on Saturday!

Maybe enger could put the back four in some kind of cloning tank, then maybe all their good points will blend into each other? Hleb was fantastic until the crowd got on his back, then when we went 2-1 up and everyone was content to eat prawn sandwiches again, they got off his back and he started playing really well again (3rd goal anyone?) Last night proved the long ball doesn’t work for us as a strategy, we were at our best moving the ball quickly along the ground. I wish some of the utter cunts who go to our home matches these days had a clue about football. Still, playing in front of a hostile crowd full of morons will be good practise for the guys for the Lane on Saturday. I expect the police around WHL to stand around and do nothing while we’re pelted with bottles again. As you can tell, I’m in a bad mood.

  • 43. Geekov  |  April 18th, 2007 at 1:55 pm

I know Gallas has been in for a lot of stick lately, but he looked like he gave a shit yesterday, he was prob pissed off like the rest of them that they had eff all to play for this season. I’m sure he’ll be up for it next year. Especially as Eboue will be long gone, er, maybe not!

LD; I thought that if used sparingly the long ball is a good outlet ome times, especially if its Cesc supplying the balls. Ade almost scored form 2 such balls. And it seems to unsettle us when the opposition just hoof the ball in the general direction of our goal/half.

  • 47. Little Dutch  |  April 18th, 2007 at 1:58 pm

ron, that was a lie. That wasn’t even remotely interesting. THIS is fascinating.

if used sparingly, yes. But we kept bypassing Cesc yesterday, when we clearly should have been using him.

  • 50. Geekov  |  April 18th, 2007 at 2:06 pm

Yeah the long ball should used as an outlet, and not just aimlessly hoofed, but it can be another attack starterer type thing!

I mean, weren’t that one of the reasons for signing Ade? The goal he set up at Boro when we were down to 10 men (never a pen!); long ball to Ade he knocks it down and Boom! Th sticks it in the net!

so its not possible to have 2 english teams

  • 57. Little Dutch  |  April 18th, 2007 at 2:12 pm

Ron, I too adopt hip hop terminology. I relate to hip hop music cos I is from da hood, aite? (In all seriousness, I do love hip hop). Like I say, the long ball every now and then can be a good weapon, but it was desperately obvious that we were at our most effective moving the ball quickly along the floor, but the fans and their stupidity just wouldn’t allow it. Seriously, just once, I would absolutely love the game to be stopped, Wenger to march up to the guy who sits about ten rows behind me and say, “right, I’m taking Hleb off and putting you on there lard arse. Let’s see what you can do.” Fucking wankers who think reading the sun and watching motd makes them informed. And James, Clichy worked his bollocks off last night, he deserved that line :-)

Did anyone hear the booing last night that I keep reading about? There were quite a few dissatisfied customers around where I was after our comedy defending for the equaliser but that wasn’t too unreasonable. I certainly didn’t hear any booing. Would be interested to know if anyone heard anything or whether we can put this down to more ‘top class journalism’.

  • 62. davey b  |  April 18th, 2007 at 2:18 pm

was nt the crowd booing when hleb played the ball backwards instead of fowards i heard that through the tv

  • 63. Geekov  |  April 18th, 2007 at 2:19 pm

i think you’re right about the play. Our game is fast short passing and movement, but when the team aren’t playing well its good to have another outlet.

And yeas, there are twats who scream abuse, who get their opinions from tabloid headlines (not even the stories) do my head in. That obviouslt affected the team after the Citeh goal.

But saying that, after the AFC goal there was an air of a training ground match and when they scored it took a while to get the tempo back up again.

Little Dutch. what gives? Why the bad mood?! Have to say, I agree with the ball-on-the-floor thing. I think, especially in the first half, we moved it around really well. I think Hleb has been on poor form but improved considerably yesterday. Some fans are just never happy though. When the PA twat called his name out before kick-off, three teenagers starting booing. Seriously….But you have to admit LD, the shocking atmosphere is not unique to the Emirates - I remember the Champs League group game at home to Sparta Prague when RVP scored a couple…the atmosphere was quiet. I mean, you could hear people having conversations with each other that’s how bad it was…

You have to admit though LD, Akin-B is a waster at the minute…seriously…not looking forward to the Lane next week. Nothing to do with the football, but more to do with the potential violence. Mind you it’s an early kick-off so hopefully there’ll be no shenanigans. Cesc is brilliant…

In other news, anyone else see the story about Shevchenko being reduced to tears by Mourinho?! Quote:

“There is very little warmth shown to the players. Mourinho shouts at them, says things like, ‘You all have Ferraris and Aston Martins but you are nothing. You have to work’.
“Andriy feels Mourinho treats the players like robots. He is a sensitive soul and sometimes with all the problems he has had he has been in tears when he arrives home.”

Now I know we should feel sorry for him or something…but surely the £150k per week sweetener is comfort enough? I know some people think Arsene is too soft and a walkover but seriously….sing all together now:

“I don’t care too, much for Chelski
    Rubles can’t buy me Love…
    Can’t buy me Looooove
    Rubles can’t buy me love”…..

PAUL: the ‘booing’ part is bullshit. Another Murdoch press fabrication. ‘SHOOOOOOOOOT’ was the only thing remotely close to any booing that I heard. Reminds me a bit of some shit-stirring Greek from the News of the World after the Everton game, claiming that Henry was ‘being booed’ by the Arsenal fans. Codswallop…What I DID hear was the usual merciless abuse of Hleb. I personally think he has been off form (was decent last night though)…but he is the Belarus Cygan. Every team needs one. ManUre have Fletcher, Silvestre and Richardson. The Chavs have SWP, Shevchenko (until recently..) etc…it seems it is an English thing to need an object of blame to release that pent-up anger!

  • 71. Paul  |  April 18th, 2007 at 2:30 pm

62 daveyb, i remember the incident. it must have been 1-1 and hleb played away from goal when we should have been going forward. I wouldn’t have described it as booing though - more a large group of people expressing their frustration at the same time, which wasn’t that unreasonable given the circumstances!

  • 72. Geekov  |  April 18th, 2007 at 2:30 pm

Come on, leave Ade al;one will ya? He’s an Arsenal legend in the making I’m telling ya! Just coz he has the lolloping gate of a knackered old cart horse, that’s not his fault. And he hasn’t scored for 263 games, well he brings so much to the team, like toys, cakes and intersting hair do’s!

RH - glad to hear you have the same view on the booing. I sit lower tier northwest corner which is probably the noisiest part of the ground so I was wondering if I just couldn’t hear what the rest of the ground was doing. Booing is totally unacceptable in my book.
There was some bloke near me who had a total breakdown after Jens’ fuck-up for the equaliser though. It was so over-the-top it was almost funny. Let’s just say he doesn’t rate our goalkeeper too highly.

I don’t know if you guys could have access to setanta sports as we do have here in Chicago, through globecast. The other way around is through one of those Chinese/HK sites that you could watch almost any EPL and CL games. It is not very legal, and the images are not perfect either, but it’s free. That’s how I used to watch games when I used to live in Bombay. Here is Chicago, they take copyright violations very seriously, so I switched to Setanta.

  • 80. Geekov  |  April 18th, 2007 at 2:43 pm

Watched in on live feed. And Trev Francis and that Adrian Dark (wots an effin Boxing commentater doing the football for anyway?) And they were going on and on about how quiet it was, they wouldn’t shut up about it, in fact some one in the crowd asked them if they could be quiet as it was disturbing their nap.

    Some people, I ask you!

  • 81. baroque14  |  April 18th, 2007 at 2:44 pm

    Great performance Gunners!

But is quite sad the fans seem to be leaving the stadium very early before the final whistle in almost every single Arsenal home game when we’re winning. Why is that so?

  • 82. ron  |  April 18th, 2007 at 2:44 pm

has anyone ever heard ‘i always wana be a ho’ by ice t, its quite funny.

i also liked some of the tracks on the 8 mile sound track

He makes shit happen where ever he plays and I’d rather him than that lump Bapsta!

  • 86. Les Dennis  |  April 18th, 2007 at 2:50 pm

Hi all, I would just like to say how great it is to be compared to the great man that is called Ron.

Although having read this blog, I am now of the opinion that he is a racist.

Perhaps I am being brainwashed by Victor Meldrew.

    That will be all.

  • 87. Little Dutch  |  April 18th, 2007 at 2:51 pm

The atmos has been crap at home games for years, but we’re getting to a stage where it’s gone from quiet to all out abuse of the team. Adebayor is confusing at the moment, he doesn’t look like scoring, but he’s set up a few recently. I think he’s a good option to have, but we can see that he’s not someone who should be the main man every week. As got your hip hop enquiries, check out People Under the Stairs, Jehst, Braintax, Taskforce (the last three all live on Highbury Estate), Nonprophet and of course, the forefathers, Public Enemy, NWA and I think Eminem is a bit of a genius. I just wish he wouldn’t do those stupid joke songs for 14 year olds.

  • 88. Geekov  |  April 18th, 2007 at 2:51 pm

    Hi les, hows ya missus?

    Oops sorry, forgot

  • 89. davey b  |  April 18th, 2007 at 2:53 pm

jens lehmann has improved since the world cup no doubt hes more reliable these days but before then he was a liability ,very irratic i think peoples view of him is based on 2004 but i think arsenal would have won the title inspite of him anyway, in the past he hes been dropped for almunia and with a manager that is very persistent regarding loss of form with players, i think it just indicates how poor hes been over the years. bob wilson told wenger that he thought taylor should be given a chance a head of jens now i suggest the man knows a thing or two about goalkeepers, i think jens is an average keeper he does not make saves hes not supposed to ,he makes ones you expect him to over his career two moments stick out for me yakubus chance against arsenal 2004 which could have been our first loss of season and villarreal penalty save but for every good game he produces the inevitable barca game a feature of his game over the years has been bad decision making rush of blood to the head steaming out his box ,call it harsh if you like but i have never rated jens but i will say hes better than he was but not a legend for me

Tyson was a boxing machine! Until he got fucked over by the boxing leaches, his blood sucking missus, her mum, Don King O and his trainer/mentor died too; Cust Tomatoe, er, something like that!

  • 105. lc  |  April 18th, 2007 at 3:04 pm

Kolo was directly responsible of Bisley’s goal, not Eboue. The player who plays Bisley in was Gallas, not Eboue either. Eboue was cought up coming from his attacking position. He was too far behind to do anything, apart from causing a penalty plus a sending off.

  • 106. davey b  |  April 18th, 2007 at 3:05 pm

roy jones jr was unbeatable in his day but youll never no cause he never fought anybody

barrera ,dela hoya ,chavez ,holyfield ,are true legends if you go through the history books you ll find loads of what might have beens ,don curry, michael nunn, meldrick taylor, david reid the sports littered with fighters who never achieve what there capable of

  • 110. Geekov  |  April 18th, 2007 at 3:08 pm

So Poland & Ukraine have got Euro 2012 and not Ltaly, hmmm, how very interesting….I must say.

Tyson went through every boxer in the division, all the belts all the champs and challenges. Outside forces fucked him up in the end, not boxers in the ring.

But I thought he was top man. In the ring, so to speak.

  • 111. davey b  |  April 18th, 2007 at 3:09 pm

  • 114. Geekov  |  April 18th, 2007 at 3:11 pm

Shows how shit it was then if Holyfield was the best. He’s a pumped up cruiser weight. Wouldn’t have lasted 2 minutes with the seventies heavyweights, Fraser, Foreman, Ali….Or a Tyson in his prime.

Werent Holy feild’s fault there were shite boxers about though.

Lloyd Honeygan, now there’s a boxing legend!

  • 115. WillyG  |  April 18th, 2007 at 3:11 pm

Rosicky and Fab r 2 great players,if they they score goals next year that will be a big plus for next season coz that was 1 of the main things we were missing, but I allways mentained my faith with thomas even though much of the guys here said we should sell him, with Cesc if he is on fire no one can stop us.

  • 116. davey b  |  April 18th, 2007 at 3:13 pm

ron get yourself bowe holyfield trilogy and you ll see what a great fighter the real deal was

LC u r a muppet. watch da replay and u will see who beasly comes through from behind is eboue. mug. watch 100 replays if u like but man closest to him is eboue which explains why everybody is havin a pop at the lazy cock. i am so fed up of their attitudes and the attitude of some so-called fans. one win against the worst side we play all season? why street party. we NEED quality signings and wot we get? clown wenger Laurel has gone out and gonna sign us NZOGBIA. yes nzogbia that cannto even get into the startin eleven 4 that great side newcaslte. wot a fucking joke. same shit from wenger i am really getting so bored of this. i told u all about ade-Tool but none of you’s would believes me that he is a useless cunt. well i am laughin now. gimme all the rose-tinted shit u want. ade-Tool is an overhyped cunt n cesc waits until we r out of everything before scoring. kissing his badge? kissing the afc badge? that moment made me sick cos that boy will be off gigglin in the showers with messi come next year if we win fuck all. makes me sick. the only person fit to kiss that badge is…oh yeah NO ONE! none of thos cunts care about afc just their fat paycheck. cunts. spend it all on lucky charms anyway. wot happened with our season? fuck all thats wot. stop celebratin so happily the real test will come saturday and u can betcha pleb will go hiding again. cunt. wot a load of cack never thought id see the day when we were joyful over 4th. how far have we sunk. graham all is forgiven come back and teach these cunts how to defend. i see Geekock is still spittin shit. any more rose-tinted news from u today? or r u still being the same old furry cunt?

  • 120. Matt Skelton  |  April 18th, 2007 at 3:14 pm

    RE: FIGHTING TALK

Enough of this boxing debate. I am the best heavyweight in the history of the world. I could’ve took both Tyson and Holyfield at the same time in their prime with one hand behind my back and my shoelaces tied together.

    I am a bear. A big one.

  • 121. tubes  |  April 18th, 2007 at 3:14 pm

  • 128. Little Dutch  |  April 18th, 2007 at 3:18 pm

I’ve got the peace disc of war and peace. That tune hello is a little bit heavy and roll all day. Cube’s a great MC, I like Dre as well, 2001 and the chronic are great albums. Does anyone remember snoop’s first album, that came out when I was about 11 and I loved it, “mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the top dog of them all. There was a ruffle a scuffle for five minutes it lasted, then the mirror said, you are you conceited bastard.’ Great stuff. Anyway, Marcus, I don’t see tooo many people jubilant on here. Just reasonably satisfied with a decent win, no parties here, equally no need for a funeral to break out either.

  • 129. Ric-Dizzle  |  April 18th, 2007 at 3:19 pm

    Dear Marcus,

I read your posts all of the time as I believe I can learn a lot from you.

Unfortunately it would seem some people on this forum believe you to be a very large twat. I do not share their belief in this.

When I retire I would like to offer you my position. I would even go as far to say that your are my hero.

However, Marcus, you are wrong about one things:

I will not be signing Charles N’Zogbia.

    Best,

    Arsene

  • 139. Marcus  |  April 18th, 2007 at 3:23 pm

LD fairplay. at least u aint comin out with the same rose-tinted cuntish bullshit those cunts like Geekock come out with. u know the ‘live stream plastic-armchair’ fans. bunch of cunts. fairplay LD even if u think i am a tit at least u go games to be able to diss me. btw u got good taste in hip-hop. snoop’s first album with the dogg pound was heavy. ice cube is rough and ‘it was a good day’ is a tune. so is his new one ‘get your back into it’. dre rules but u forgetting the kings boys. MOBB DEEP! shook ones is THE best hip-hop tune ever made end of. no ifs no buts. gangstarr heavy also. gin n juice is snoop’s best song. by far

  • 140. Mavis  |  April 18th, 2007 at 3:26 pm

Doggystyle is a g-funk classic. That tune you refer to LD was actually Snoop’s version of Slick Rick’s “La-di-da-di”, hence the opening line “Yeah… wanna say ‘wassup’ to my n*gger Slick Rick. For those who don’t like it; eat a dick! But for those who with me, sing that shit… it goes a little something like this!”
Dre’s production is tight and he was the main man behind that album, although Snoops slurred kind of lyrical style is awsome - often imitated, never replicated.

  • 158. Mavis  |  April 18th, 2007 at 3:33 pm

Westwood - the original ‘wigga’. What a chump. I used to have to listen him doing his ‘daaaaag’ and all that shit back in the day, just to hear some decent hip-hop on the radio. Any rap artist he interviewed must have wanted to put a ‘cap in his ass’.

  • 159. Mavis  |  April 18th, 2007 at 3:36 pm

Marcus - I haven’t heard of ‘brother ali’. Tupac’s an over rated cock muncher. Just ‘cos he died, everyone thinks he’s a fucking genius. He used to be a dancer for Digital Underground for fuck’s sake!

Sorry mucus, just realised, schools out innit! Last night was the very first time I ever did see a match on the pc, thanks to some fella who put a link on last night, I think i saw you in the crowd in your cam jacket (ha ha ha; camoflage, what a nerd!) Does it make you feel tough in that dodgy get up?

Was at the West ham game, not been since, but you werent there last night, not on a school noght surely?

But it is sweet seeing you trying to make some friends on here for a change. You bit bored of being the angry loner who just wants some attention, bless?

Who exactly do you support? You hate the manger, the team are full of mercenary twats, no one on here likes you! Is it the actual stadium you support? One of the tiers? A particular seat or food stand that you quite like? I don’t get it, coz you just say the same ol tired shit day in and day out (school permitting). You sound just like a…Glory Hunter!

  • 165. Marcus  |  April 18th, 2007 at 3:47 pm

  • 166. lc  |  April 18th, 2007 at 3:48 pm

Marcus, I just checked the vedeo and my answer is the same. Kolo Toure should never have allowed that man to get his pass through. Eboue has done what any sensible defender should have done, which is to play the target player outside. He did that, but Gallas played him on.
For me Kolo ’s poor display which was instead of closing his opponent down, chose to back down all the times; which allowed him time and space to put through an accurate and well timed pass.

  • 167. ron  |  April 18th, 2007 at 3:49 pm

Arsenal fans in general have always backed the players, management and staff unconditionally, as long as they wore the badge with pride, they had our support.

It has been widely regarded that over the past couple of years the Arsenal team has been a team in transition, a time of change, and so, as it seems, have the ‘fans’.

Now I refuse to tar all supporters with the same brush as it’s evident that many Gooners I come into contact with on a daily basis are red and white to the core and will back all the plays, however it’s plain for all to see that we have more than our fair share of anti-supporters…

marcus (or mucus as people are fittingly naming you)

last week i read some of posts on here where you were boasting about going to nearly all our home games, something like that, so why are you going on about watching it on ’stream’ via on-line highlights?? u’re a fucking joke mate.

unlike you i actually was at the game last night and i thought you were much better than in recent weeks. people soon wont even bother responding to your posts because you are such a cunt and your views are worthless.

i bet if you saw aw in a bar in london or summit u’d try and get a picture with him and tell him how u’re a mad arsenal fan and never miss a game, blah, blah, blah.

    u’re a fucking liar and a hypocrit

i think you should support tottenham

  • 175. Glenn Helder  |  April 18th, 2007 at 4:18 pm

Jeez I have been reading this blog for ages and it gets even better with a hip hop discussion

N’Zogbia - do me a favour - how about Akinfeev, Alaves, Ribery, Klose

Mobb Deep - Shooked Ones pt 1 and Jeru get the vote but surely the best albums are in no particular order, Illmatic, Ready To Die, Midnight Marauders, Breaking Atoms, Moment of Truth

  • 178. Wheels O' Steele  |  April 18th, 2007 at 4:24 pm

Wenger’s side had to endure jeers from sections of Emirates Stadium as it laboured to break down Manchester City yesterday (AEST) before finally securing a 3-1 win that effectively guaranteed a Champions League place.
Arsenal is third in the Premiership and, more importantly, has opened an eight-point gap over fifth-placed Everton.

That would satisfy supporters of most clubs, but Arsenal’s 60,000 regulars are harder to please. They are often infuriated by their team’s penchant for over-elaborating when opponents are under pressure and, after a season that promised much more than has been delivered, they are quick to show their frustration.

How the fuck do they know? Did they speak to every fan and didia poll to find out and they all said ‘well, yes we are tired of the over elaborate style of play so we all decided as one to start jeerinat the same time’

  • 179. Mavis  |  April 18th, 2007 at 4:24 pm

Glen - personally I don’t think moment of truth comes close to Ganstaar’s eariler work.. Step in the Area and in particular Hard to Earn. It has some strong tracks though.
Have to agree though, Ilmatic and Midnight Marauders are both brilliant. What about 3 feet high and rising? And surely a top 5 must include Wu-Tang - Enter the 36 Chambers??

Yeah, angry loners like that need to be seriously monitored, they can flip out for no good reason, not sure if powerful sedatives are the answer, but, would mean people not having to put up with them.

  • 189. Wheels O' Steele  |  April 18th, 2007 at 4:41 pm

So what were the plays about then?

  • 190. James Marsh  |  April 18th, 2007 at 4:45 pm

Ones about a kid who’s abused by his stepdad (Who he thinks killed his real dad), it’s basically about how much he wants to kill him. At the end he tries to choke him on a cereal bar but the step dad kills him.

Not exactly a laugh a minute.

  • 191. Glenn Helder  |  April 18th, 2007 at 4:47 pm

Can’t argue with avis or Wheels all good and totally valid for the top 5 these are just personal choice - for 10 I would add 36 Chambers, LabcabinCalifornia, Street Level (Beatunts), Wrath of The Math, The Main Ingredient

I know most would go for Sun Rises, Mecca, It Takes a Nation and a Rakim / Common album but hey

Check out the Premo produced Track “Classic”

Jurassic 5 been mentioned in the hip hop debate yet?

“Let’s take it back to the concrete streets, original beats with real live mcs, plaground tactics no rabit in a hat tricks, jsut that classic rap shit from jurassic.” Now that’s real old skool hip hop, and no bling bling in sight.

Did love Doggystyle in the old days ’sippin on gin and juice’…Dre is the brains behind all the best g-funk for me.

  • 195. Glenn Helder  |  April 18th, 2007 at 4:51 pm

Give Kolo and Gallas (unless he buggers off to Milan) a season to create some stability at least - a RB who can defend would help - don’t get me wrong I like Eboue, well not his defending or BS but he offers us something we don’t have and that’s pace down the flanks, someone to beat the opposing fullback - otherwise we play too narrow, notice hoe we score directly and indirectly from his deliveries - maybe he needs a summer camp with Bouldy and Keown but according to reports all the defenders think they are above that

  • 196. Wheels O' Steele  |  April 18th, 2007 at 4:51 pm

Thats J5, yep guess I’m slippin for reaL!

  • 201. Wheels O' Steele  |  April 18th, 2007 at 4:57 pm

    For saturdays game;

Id bring in Hoyte (is he injured?) at RB give Drourou a go with Gallas at CB. Move Eboue up to RM, he can do more damage for us and less for them (as he wont have to defend near our box!)

Or there’s always having kolo at rb as some seem to want

  • 202. ron  |  April 18th, 2007 at 4:58 pm

ok tubes so thats 1, 100, 200 on the back of 600

You been waiting all this time for that fella? Fair play to ya

  • 206. Glenn Helder  |  April 18th, 2007 at 5:00 pm

You can forgive Clichy though - he’s come back from injury and gotten back into good form and hes is always 100% committed - can’t say that about all of them can we

Can someone explain how Baptista scored so many in Spain with such a poor first touch - I really want to give him the benifit as it’s taken a few players more than a season to shine but he doesn’t even have the basics

  • 207. ron  |  April 18th, 2007 at 5:01 pm

im sad, i lost sight of reality, but at least im cool now.

that was really impressive well done! You are a nerd!

Stick to your vanilla Ice like arsenal said

By the way been onto me mum, told her theres a really angry loner who likes dressing up in army clothes and replica guns and he’s a big fan of vanilla Ice, she said she’d be right over.

What time do visiting hours finish?

  • 209. Mavis  |  April 18th, 2007 at 5:03 pm

Glen.. Toure always gives 100%, so I don’t think he can be bundled into that bracket. He’s just having a hard time of it at the moment. Remember he played in all(?) the Carling Cup matches when most 1st teamers were rested. He must be knackered!

  • 210. Wheels O' Steele  |  April 18th, 2007 at 5:04 pm

    ron

course you be cool, you’re an Ice box fella.

Clichy been impressive all season, made that spot his own i reckon.

  • 211. Wheels O' Steele  |  April 18th, 2007 at 5:05 pm

kolo is in need of a break, he’ll be off next year to african cup as well wont he?

Hes played his heart out and would play till hes out on his feet.

  • 212. Mavis  |  April 18th, 2007 at 5:06 pm

As for Baptista - total mystery. I thought maybe he wasn’t up to the pace of the English game to begin with and that his touch was rusty, but if anything he’s got worse! No way should Wenger even be considering holding onto him.

  • 213. kolo  |  April 18th, 2007 at 5:07 pm

im not 2 bad, im actually going for a drink 2nite with lampard et al

  • 214. Wheels O' Steele  |  April 18th, 2007 at 5:07 pm

if we keep hold of him, like some on here have suggested then Oi’m a dutchman!

    Please god, Nooooooooooooooooo!!!

  • 215. Glenn Helder  |  April 18th, 2007 at 5:08 pm

Good point Mavis I wouldn’t question his commitment for a minute but having played at CB for several seasons I would love to see a learning curve - true he’s played a lot of games but seems to make the same mistakes and there have been a few this season. His recovery speed often gets him out of trouble but sometimes he is guilty of going to sleep as they all are.

By the way the dig about commitment wasn’t meant to only include the defence - several other players have gone missing in games

  • 216. Wheels O' Steele  |  April 18th, 2007 at 5:09 pm

kolo, giv the fat feck a smack from me, or better still spike his drink with that Rohiphopnol!, then mucus might be able to get some action and stop bein so feckin angry all da time!

  • 217. kolo  |  April 18th, 2007 at 5:10 pm

fuck u, i’ll score own goal

  • 218. Wheels O' Steele  |  April 18th, 2007 at 5:11 pm

    et tu kolo?

  • 219. Mod O'Rater  |  April 18th, 2007 at 5:13 pm

Can we please desist with all this foul language for crying out loud!

  • 220. Mavis  |  April 18th, 2007 at 5:14 pm

Kolo, we want you to learn positional play from Willy, not the inclination to threaten to score own goals (allegedly).

  • 221. Mod O'Rater  |  April 18th, 2007 at 5:16 pm

yes and I find it in very poor taste that after the tragic events in Virginia that we have insensitive people on here boasting about being 1st gun, 200th gun, etc. I say, that really is a poor show.

  • 222. Wheels O' Steele  |  April 18th, 2007 at 5:17 pm

    kolo’s only teasin’

  • 223. Wheels O' Steele  |  April 18th, 2007 at 5:21 pm

    More booing stuff from the City manager this time;

Stuart Pearce, astonished at the behavior of some so called Gooners last night claimed he was going to take a similar stance when he next goes to see a play.

The comical Pearce claimed “The next time I go to the theatre I will let some thespians have it and then claim I pay their wages as I`m leaving!’

‘That`s the nature of the Premier League now. Apart from the top two, there`s not a team who haven`t been booed at home this season. With 60 minutes gone tonight we`re sitting comfortably with the fans booing Arsenal. At one stage I thought we were at home and the crowd were having a go at me again!’

“But then one of their players has pulled out a wonder strike and it`s all over.”

  • 224. Marcus  |  April 18th, 2007 at 5:23 pm

Arsenal today announces that vice-chairman, David Dein has left Arsenal Football Club and ceases to be a director of the Club with immediate effect.

Arsenal Chairman Peter Hill-Wood said: “On behalf of the Board I would like to express our gratitude to David Dein for the many years of loyal service he has given to the Club. We sincerely regret that irreconcilable differences between Mr. Dein and the rest of the board have necessitated a parting of the ways.”

In light of recent speculation with regards to the ownership of the Club, the remaining Board members, who together own 45.45% of the issued share capital of the Company, would like to reassure the supporters, shareholders and employees of Arsenal Football Club that they remain long-term holders of their interests in the Club. To this effect, they have entered into an agreement not to dispose of their shares for at least one year and have confirmed that they intend to retain their interests on the expiration of this period.

It seems the american is getting his foot in the door and causing problems …………..

  • 242. Marc  |  April 18th, 2007 at 6:22 pm

I’m very proud that Arsenal appears to be holding firm to remaining an English club, but I hope they support the manager with the ambition and resources that the American and Russian owners have given.

I hope that Arsene is loyal to Arsenal first. I know DD brought him to the club and that they have a close relationship. On our transfer budget, without his brilliance, we would be fighting for sixth place at best this season.

  • 243. mancgooner  |  April 18th, 2007 at 6:24 pm

dunno what this is gonna do to Wenger’s position. I know DD brought him over, but he was the one saying he hoped afc didn’t get taken over. Now it appears DD was the one wanting the takeover and he’s gone,. looks like AW got his wish.

  • 244. mancgooner  |  April 18th, 2007 at 6:27 pm

Scousers wetting themselves coz they think Henry’s gonna sign for them in the summer!

  • 245. Marc  |  April 18th, 2007 at 6:32 pm

Dream on Scousers. If he ever left us (and that’s a very big IF at the moment) he wouldn’t want to play for another English team.

  • 246. Herbert Chapman  |  April 18th, 2007 at 6:43 pm

Dont know what to think. I thought he’d been booted out now they are saying hes resigned. I also thought it was a signal for a a takeover but theyve just said on sky that it may be that Dein was keen on allowing some sort of foreign investment to help us and keep up with the other top teams, whilst the rest of the board are against foreign investment. Him and Arsene are good friends so lets hope that doesnt affect anything.

  • 248. Good to be a GOONAH!!  |  April 18th, 2007 at 6:56 pm

WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON WITH THE BOARD?!?!??!

  • 249. Amos  |  April 18th, 2007 at 7:06 pm

So Hill Wood took his shares back from Edelman (or was it Friar) in order to build the blocking vote of 45.45% together with Fizsman, Bracewell-Smith and the Carrs. Looks as though the shares that Fizsman sold could have been transferred within the group. The commitment not to sell for one year ties in with the remainder of Wengers contract so he presumably was seeking assurances. This is likely to be a long game and those have a habit of being the most undermining. Assuming Kroenke gets Dein shares (Dein would probably have to offer them to all the other shareholders first) then Kroenke becomes the largest single shareholder and able to appoint directors to the board.

  • 250. Good to be a GOONAH!!  |  April 18th, 2007 at 7:06 pm

Marcus.. are you kidding? What sort of moron trys to fix fights on a blog… pathetic

  • 251. Marc  |  April 18th, 2007 at 7:14 pm

Shares have to be offered to other shareholders first. Kroenke is a shareholder - does that give him the same preemption rights as the Board?

If the Hill Wood side want to buy DD’s shares (or if Asenal buy them back and thus increase everyone else’s share-holding) it’s going to take some serious finance. That’s money that could/should be going towards supporting the manager and team.

  • 252. *_Respects Highbury  |  April 18th, 2007 at 7:25 pm

I cannot believe the news on David Dein. I am almost certain that the cretin Myles Palmer over on ANR, will have plenty to say about this. I think it comes as no surprise that the rest of the board and DD were not on amiable terms - nevertheless, I really think that Paul has hit the nail on the head.

As a theory, I reckon Dein was probably in favour of selling out to Kroenke as a means of keeping up with the others. I reckon the rest of the board, disagreed and had him booted out. I know DD and Wenger are good friends, but conversely, I also know Wenger is vehemently opposed to any full takeover.

But I think it is now obvious to all that a takeover is imminent. How sad.

I fully expect Dein to get his own back on the Board by selling out to Kroenke. I want that snivelling little Sith overlord nowhere near our club. Sod that. But as I said: inevitable. There are power struggles taking place in the corridors of power and I expect it all to come to a head over summer.

How utterly disruptive. Football is really going down the pan. Now a playground for disgustingly rich corporate cunts to launder and extract funds. It really is a sad indictment on football….

Not the best way to prepare for the tottenham game Double DD

  • 254. Amos  |  April 18th, 2007 at 7:32 pm

“Shares have to be offered to other shareholders first. Kroenke is a shareholder - does that give him the same preemption rights as the Board?”

If it does then usually it would be in the proportion that the shares are currently held - thats to say Kroenke would be entitled to buy 11%+ of the 14.5% held by Dein (adding 1.5%) assuming the others take up their rights. If no-one else does he can buy all of Deins shares or Dein can sell them elsewhere.

  • 255. Geekov  |  April 18th, 2007 at 7:34 pm

RH; Better sit down, I’m in agreement over Myles Palmer, what a tool he is! How much does the Krany need for a take over> Thought the board had enough shares to block any take over?

  • 256. Geekov  |  April 18th, 2007 at 7:35 pm

    er that’s Krankie

  • 257. *_Respects Highbury  |  April 18th, 2007 at 7:41 pm

Good to see you are capable of occasionally being sensible! Anyway, for a complete takeover I am having a wild stab here but, I am reckoning Kroenke would need to have in excess of half the overall share; in the same manner that the Glazers eventually had at ManUre. It is all very complex, all very disheartening frankly though…

  • 258. tubes  |  April 18th, 2007 at 7:45 pm

just another view but wasn’t DD middle man between arsene and the rest of the board, i wonder what arsene makes of all this. i think he’ll be leaving at the end of his contract as it seems now to coincide with the time the rest of the board said they would hold on to their shares for.

  • 259. Geekov  |  April 18th, 2007 at 7:46 pm

Something is definitely up! Understatement I know. Whether it’s the beginnings of a full blown takeover or a compromise where the board accpet Krankie onto the board or in some capacity in return for some investment.

Well, the scousers were creaming themselves when they got taken over coz they saw it as the fast track to catching up with the Chavs by enabling them to spend an obscene amount on new players.

Thats prob where that Henry to L’pool’s come from.

  • 260. Geekov  |  April 18th, 2007 at 7:49 pm

If its true DD wanted to sell out to the Krankster then it doesn’t follow that AW will wanna leave as the board are saying they have no intention of selling out, unless they’re just playing ‘hardball’ and/or holding out for a ridiculous offer from him.

  • 261. mancgooner  |  April 18th, 2007 at 7:51 pm

  • 263. mancgooner  |  April 18th, 2007 at 7:53 pm

brilliant insight as ever, nice 1

    he

  • 264. Amos  |  April 18th, 2007 at 7:54 pm

As long as Hill-Wood and the other 3 act in concert then they have effective control with 45.45% as it is unlikely (though not absolutely impossible) that Kroenke could buy the remaining 28% or so of the shares not held by him or Dein without paying astronomically silly money for them. It depends whether Kroenke is happy to play an influential but not controlling role on the board whether there is great disruption or not. We should assume for the moment that he has already put a lot of money into his investment and will put a lot more in if he buys Deins shares. You would need to be a pretty stupid businessman to undermine your own investment and by all accounts he isn’t stupid so let’s hope for the best.

  • 265. Geekov  |  April 18th, 2007 at 7:57 pm

    Revolution at Arsenal?
Are these worrying times for the club’s fans? David Dein has left Arsenal, with the club citing “irreconcilable differences” between the the former vice-chairman and the rest of the board.

What is afoot at the North London club? The exit of Dein will lead to increased speculation that Stan Kroenke will try to launch a takeover of the Barclays Premiership club. Is it time for the present board to move over?

Why is it being reported in a negative light when the scousers and Mancs (to a lesser extent) were seen as marvelous things for the clubs to compete move on, etc etc….blah

Davey B cheer up, I have some good news for you and all fellow Gooners to lift the impending gloom! Inter Milan got battered at home by Roma today, meaning, that Inter will not be matching Arsenal by going a whole season unbeaten in their (now-devalued) ‘league’!

Can anybody else also please, please let me know how Steven Gerrard was nominated for the PFA Player of the Year award? And exactly what has he done his season? I know he scored tonight but seriously…

Must say I am not in the leats bit surprised to see the Murdoch-run Times go into hystrionic overdrive following on from the news of Dein’s resignation. I do not recall such similar hysteria when Martin Edwards resigned as the Chief Executive of ManUre following on from the Gay-zer’s takeover of the Mancs. Can any of you? But hey what the hell Murdoch. He’s never one to let the facts get in the way of spurious contradiction….imbecile…

As for people who say I am not a fan for slating and not supporting Wenger etc, like wise for people who reckon they aren’t gonna support Arse if we get taken-over. I’ll praise a new revolution. Rather it not be a yank, but what the fuck. Hill-Wanks a cock anyway. Old fart. Prolly doesn’t know the first thing about football. DD was always the man doing the running around etc. All Hill-Wank does is chews on cigars.

  • 292. George Costanza  |  April 18th, 2007 at 9:36 pm

This is another low in a forgettable season for Arsenal on and off the pitch now.

Who will handle transfers now, AW always named the player then DD negotiated the deal as I understand it. Or is this confirmation that there will be none as suspected, I dont imagine AW being too happy with this caper do you?

If it is true that he has left as the board opposed the takeover and he wanted investment, then surely it is lack of ambition on the boards part and you cant blame DD. He is a businessman and unlike the board he lives in the real world and isnt stuck in the past. If he saw that we couldnt compete with the rest without investment then why didnt the board trust him.

Hillwoods comment about being horrified at the thought of American ownership smack of someone stuck in the 1970’s and not someone who has the responsibility to ensure the best for the club. They are also xenophobic and disrespectful to a potential investor and you couldnt blame Kroenke if he told the old fart to shove it up his arse. He would probably buy spurs and we would be wondering what might have been.

I am neither for nor against a takeover until I hear what the new owners plans would be and if the team would be backed and the manager left to his job, like at Manu. However if DD thought it was a good idea and he is AFC through and through, then why are the board so opposed to it, what is their grand plan that means we can compete without help from an investor?

A takeover hasnt done Manu any harm and Livpool welcome theirs so why not consider it and hear what he has to say first. The team clearly needs investment to compete and unless the board have found a money tree in Hill Woods garden then it looks like DD got out now as he knew we were getting left behind with no hope of competing with thr rest.

I wouldnt quite say we are run like Mr Patel(lmfao) but the board need to get real and accept that this is the way football is moving, like it or not. I get the impression they would be happy if we were 7th or 8th every year, aslong as they could say “but we are still english owned and have kept the tradition of AFC alive”, rather than showing proper ambition.

The ground move was the biggest venture the club has ever undertaken, yet it will be for nothing if the team doesnt receive investment to compete for honours. Fans wont keep paying to watch potential when they could have the real thing if the board came out of their timewarp. Rightly or wrongly fans live in the present and they will expect something more than 4th place and out of every cup by March next year. You either get with it or get left behind, and you can only see another 4th places struggle until someone either takes over or the board decide to back AW properly like he deserves.

I am 100% against ANY takeover. Full stop. The takeover is definitely a destabilizing process at the moment, and yes, this has been a season to forget. But like I said, I am adamantly against any takeover of any kind. Despite the fact that many people want Wenger out, I am not one of these. I know this season has been crap, bu nevertheless, can’t you see that if anybody can run this club on limited funds and lead us to success it is Wenger? He will leave if Kroenke takes over.
Arsene Wenger is so admirable because he has always been a man of his word, and a man of principle.

And sure as night follows day, and sure as ManUre will never have penalties given against them at Old Trafford, Wenger will go if Kroenke takes over. No matter what funds he is given at his disposal.

Gelbs I know you are Arsenal but surely this is a time for just a little positivity and perspective? If Wenger leaves, I really reckon not that we are fucked, but it is going to take a minor miracle to keep hold of some of these players, and we will lose a hell of a lot in terms of our football.

Geekov: curiouser and curiouser. I agree with you again! I can see DD wreaking havoc and having the last laugh on the board…

Kroenke isn’t exactly rich anyway when you convert his dollars into pounds. So we won’t have much money to spend. Then again, if Hill-Wood keeps charge of HIS club, then what difference does it make if DD has gone?

  • 315. Geekov  |  April 18th, 2007 at 9:59 pm

it’s way too early to be saying AW will leave. He may not renew his contract in 2008, but that all depends on what happens between now and then. AW said he didn’t want a foreign owner, but maybe he was just saying that at the time as he was getting loads of shit about having no English players and also coz it was a nice little dig at Chavs and ManUSA (might niot be able to call them that soon). The faxct that DD is Arsenal (see GG if you don’t think) and he’s ambitious to run the club well, maybe AW will be back with his ol sweetheart DD sooner than we think, anything could happen.

  • 316. davey b  |  April 18th, 2007 at 10:02 pm

its the uncertainty that makes you pessimistic though,we have enough problems to sort out this season already

  • 317. Gelbs  |  April 18th, 2007 at 10:02 pm

Besides, why not have Kroenke on the board and use if available money for transfers? As long as he isn’t THE chairman, why the big deal? I thought it was still Hill-Wood’s club, so he can’t be forced out or forced to sell?

  • 318. davey b  |  April 18th, 2007 at 10:04 pm

the timing is not coincidental though thats not good

  • 319. George Costanza  |  April 18th, 2007 at 10:07 pm

    Geekov #294,

Thats a possibility, DD obviously knows this lot have no ambition and could sell to Jimmy Kroenke. If or when a takeover is complete then he could rejoin the board and along with some serious investment help take us to the next level like he originally wanted.

The timing of this just doesnt make sense does it, 4 games before the end of the season - why not just wait til the end ffs? I dont know how AW is going to put a positive spin on this one mind, DD brought him here and backed him on players, so what happens now.

Can you see the chairman conducting negotiations for our next player…”We are prepared to offer Master Ribery 30shillings a week, I think you’ll find it hard to better that anywhere, we are the Arsenal after all. I hear that agents expect a cut thesedays…hmmm we cant give you any money of course, but we could supply you with a top of the range Ford Capri Ghia aslong as no one found out - well do we have a deal young man”.

Seriously though, this puts us in an even weaker position for buying players as DD sometimes went the extra mile for AW to make sure we got our man. I dont know what will happen now and I dont think Wenger will be around much longer.

  • 320. Gelbs  |  April 18th, 2007 at 10:08 pm

Don’t worry George. Wenger wouldn’t buy anyone anyway lol. Isn’t it Stan? Not Jimmy?

  • 321. Geekov  |  April 18th, 2007 at 10:09 pm

Kroenke hardly wants to invest/takeover for the love of the club or the game. He’s not an Abromovich, he’d do it for the money he could make. The Glazers haven’t really invested in Man USA, they’ve generated transfers from sells; Van Horseface, etc.

  • 322. davey b  |  April 18th, 2007 at 10:09 pm

dein recognised as one of the shrewdest dealers around

  • 323. Gelbs  |  April 18th, 2007 at 10:12 pm

Least it gives something for the Spuds fans to chant against us Saturday. Fucking cunts.

  • 324. Geekov  |  April 18th, 2007 at 10:12 pm

But if DD waas involved then that’d be a bit more positive.

Yeah George, can see him offering 30 shillings and an extra 5 shillings if he sweeps his chimney.

  • 325. Gun Toting Yanks...  |  April 18th, 2007 at 10:15 pm

Guns don’t kill people, people do….unfuckin believable!

  • 326. George Costanza  |  April 18th, 2007 at 10:20 pm

    Davey b 322#,

Exactly, DD ran the club behind the scenes and had the vision and belief in where we were going and the strategy to get us there. If he thought the time had come for changes and investment, in light of Wham,Villa,Lpools new owners then why did the board not trust his judgement.

Instead they come out with xenophobic crap belittling someone showing a genuine interest in investing in the club and the team. Even if it was run as a business, it would only be a success if the team was winning and so the manager would be backed. The Glazers understood this and have sat back and backed SAF on everything without even being seen. Look where they are now, and they will be stronger next season.

If the new ground and appointing AW was the boards best decision, then this could well be their worst especially if AW decides he has had enough, then they really will have fucked us over.

  • 327. Geekov  |  April 18th, 2007 at 10:24 pm

AW’s pre match press conference should be interesting, can’t imagine there’ll be much talk about team selection, etc.

  • 328. gooner4today  |  April 18th, 2007 at 10:33 pm

‘DD ran the club behind the scenes and had the vision and belief in where we were going and the strategy to get us there’……….bollox DD wanted to do it on the cheap and have us renting Wembley instead of building our own ground. Why do you make up such stupid rubbish when you have no fucking idea who said what to who about which? idiot.

  • 329. Gelbs  |  April 18th, 2007 at 10:36 pm

You are wrong gooners. I was cleaner once there and polishing Herbert’s bust when I overheard the conversation about Wembley.

  • 330. Geekov  |  April 18th, 2007 at 10:36 pm

    Interesting…On a different topic that is…

  • 332. Tone Loc  |  April 18th, 2007 at 10:48 pm

Funky Cold Medina, yeah, now that’s what I’m talkin about

  • 333. George Costanza  |  April 18th, 2007 at 10:52 pm

G4eva, even if you dont agree, is there anyneed for insults at the end of your posts. I’m sure I could type a few extra letters and call you something but most people expect more than that and I’m sure you do, we’re all Arsenal fans here arent we?

Who do you think brought AW to AFC when noone had heard of him?, Who backed AW in the transfer market and was responsible for negotiating the moves?. AW has said in the past that he names his target and DD does the rest. Is that not vision and belief?

Whenever a player is signed or a big announcement is made who is there - DD. If he isnt responsible then who is? PHW is still stuck in the 1940’s ffs, he probably still drives to Highbury every day, DD was the main power at AFC, PHW was just wheeled out for AGM’s and stuff like that. PV said himself all contract talks were with AW and DD not the chairman, who is out of touch with the modern game.

I never mentioned the new ground as it was common knowledge that DD favoured Wembley. Even so if you think anyone else on the board was running AFC day to day and raising our profile apart from DD then I think you are mistaken. He has done alot for our club and I hope we see him back one day on a more ambitious board.

  • 334. Gelbs  |  April 18th, 2007 at 10:55 pm

I wanna wank off Hill-Wood. Seriously. Bet he’d lay back, have his hands behind his head puffing on a Havana.

    Rich, old-fashioned cunt…

  • 335. Charlie Nicholas's Mullet  |  April 18th, 2007 at 10:56 pm

No one knows the reasons behind DD’s departure.Maybe he left because of deep morals or maybe he threw his toys out of the pram.
DD just always struck me as a money man instrumental in the capatilist mentality that changed football for ever.
I would put my trust in Hill Wood he is Arsenal through and through he bleeds red and white blood.

  • 336. Geekov  |  April 18th, 2007 at 10:58 pm

DD was definetly more in the public eye, had the ego to be more powerful and has had to relinquish his seat as chairman of the G14 group coz he ain’t a director any more.

Can’t see him wanting to be uninvolved in football in general and AFC in particular.

  • 337. Geekov  |  April 18th, 2007 at 11:01 pm

    Gelbs, you funny

  • 338. Charlie Nicholas's Mullet  |  April 18th, 2007 at 11:07 pm

I would also like to say that it is a pleasure to have Eboue doing the business behind me. He is a top notch defender, never shirks a tackle or fails to get back and do his job. i myself am a wing wizard and never give the ball away, gifting possesion to the opposition and of course, I have scored many many goals, too many to mention.

  • 349. Fred  |  April 19th, 2007 at 12:41 am

Somebody PLEASE get Julio Baptista out of this team. Our season to forget just got more unforgettable. REYES MARK 2.
What an utter big girl’s blouse. The ‘Beast’? The Pussy morelike.
    Enjoy the read……

“It probably sums up Júlio Baptista that he has looked best against second-string players in the Carling Cup, and the chances of Arsenal wanting to sign him permanently appear to have receded after his criticism of life in England.

The Brazil midfield player has complained about the weather and the style of football in the Barclays Premiership, echoing the comments of José Antonio Reyes, who was part of a loan deal with Real Madrid involving Baptista last summer.

Baptista criticised the pace of the game, which he claims does not allow him to express his skills. “The teams from the north of England are terrible,” he said. “When we play them I have counted their centre backs booting up to 30 long balls upfield per game. The weather over here is killing me. We’ll get one day of sunshine for every 30 days of rain, and it is driving me to despair.

“My girlfriend and my mother are frightened about not seeing the sun in England. They miss being in Madrid. Premiership football is very hard. I am Brazilian and I enjoy playing the ball, making clever touches and taking bicycle kicks. Arsãne Wenger does not forbid me from doing them, but the game is so fast I don’t even have time to think about them.

“The moment you stop to think, someone has taken the ball off you and knocked you to the ground. Over here they value a corner kick more than a fancy flick. I am lucky to be with Arsenal, as they are a team that likes to play proper football.”

Baptista has started only eight Premiership matches for Arsenal this season, often appearing clumsy and careless. He has three years left on his contract at Real.

“I could stay at Arsenal, but right now I can’t see myself anywhere for definite,” he said. “But it’s clear in my mind that I would tackle my second chance with Real with far more strength and maturity than I did in my first spell.”

    BAPTISTA = BIG FAIRY.
No more pussys from La Liga please. And we talked about Jesus Navas. Jeeeez…………………………………………………..

  • 350. Bitter N Twisted  |  April 19th, 2007 at 1:02 am

can’t wait to see the back of the useless piece of shite. Did he say he likes to do fancy flicks? his 1st touch is that bad how does he expect not to get the ball took off him? Fuck knows what would happen if he tried a bicycle kick?

Let him go back to Madrid, after he’s fluked the winner at WHL on saturday.

  • 351. Fred  |  April 19th, 2007 at 1:16 am

Baptisya basically sums up the typical footballer these days: a cunt. He never wanted to come to Arsenal that much was clear. He had many chances ro join us but just never seemed thhat much into it.. And he clearly soesn’t want to stay. He claims ‘i COULS’ stay at Arsenal? Wtf?! Yup. Sounds like a player desperate to play for us. Fuck off back to Madrid and have a nice trip. Seriously. When you are on £50k a week, the last thing you should worry about is the ‘weather’. And if it is hard in the beginning well do what Henry and Vieira did: ADAPT. What a nob. Can’t say I’m really surprised though. A kick in the teeth…

  • 352. arsenal  |  April 19th, 2007 at 1:29 am

Fred please dont just be gettin my hopes up! Where did u find that article

  • 353. Bitter N Twisted  |  April 19th, 2007 at 1:41 am

And AW went all out to get him to replace Vieira! Sold PV coz he thought he had this joker in the bag. bet he couldn’t fight his way out of a soggy paper bag either…The Beast? The Bap more like. is he trying to blame his shit touch technique and lumbering movement on the weather, Northern teams, Eastenders plot twists?

This modern player lark, swan around clubs and countries, promising the earth, goals, working hard, kissing badges and all the time not giving a fuck, just the money that’s all it is. Not all of em mind, but too many. i getting to the point when I’m thinking that Eboue can go fuck off to Spain as well. I’m sure I read a while back that Inter wanted him?? Yeah, right, let’s try and get him packed off to Serie A, they’ll lap up all his antics.

  • 354. Bitter N Twisted  |  April 19th, 2007 at 2:02 am

    It’s from the Times.

These hacks are creaming themselves over this story, really going into overdrive. Their bull shit knows no bounds. Coz DD left so obviously AW will. Yeah course coz when you’re at work and your boss leaves, then you have to leave as well. When your boss decides to blow his brains out then you have to be buries with him, yeah, makes perfect sense.

Some joker in the Telegraph even saying he might become Englkand fucking manager! Yeah course! For fucks sake, dom they get paid for this shit?

  • 355. mat  |  April 19th, 2007 at 2:57 am

    Dein is out

  • 357. James Marsh  |  April 19th, 2007 at 6:55 am

I would love to know what the ‘irreconcilable differences’ were between Dein and the board.

  • 358. tubes  |  April 19th, 2007 at 7:25 am

i think it was something to do with dein favouring the take over and the rest of the board dead against it, apparently they had a meeting the afternoon before the city game and thats when the big fallout happened.

  • 359. James Marsh  |  April 19th, 2007 at 8:07 am

It seems clear that one side probably favoured it and one side didn’t. I just hope it’s the way round that you suggest.

  • 360. DeiseGooner  |  April 19th, 2007 at 8:11 am

re Gelbs314 “Kroenke isn’t exactly rich anyway when you convert his dollars into pounds.”
yeah he only has 1 billion pounds the poor little fucker. not like his missus who sits on an 8 billion pound fortune of walmart.
I knew you would shit all over the club as soon as this story broke. A regime that since the 80 has appointed 2 of our most successful managers and moved us to a spankin new stadium. Yeah what a laughing stock.
Man your bitterness knows no end. Just cause you have to take a slagging from your recently converted chelski friends. Tool

  • 361. tubes  |  April 19th, 2007 at 8:21 am

from whats come out so far suggests that it is that way round, i just wish it was all sorted out now.
i think the majority of us know we are going to get taken over at some point and me personally would like to see it happen sooner rather than later as we will end up getting left behind and there is every possibility that the likes of sp*rs could get taken over and buy themselve’s a couple of trophies and that would be unbearable.

  • 362. Blog Head  |  April 19th, 2007 at 8:36 am

I’m sorry tubes but you are quite wrong, it would be extremely bearable. I might even go as far to say it would make me cream my panties

  • 363. Blog Head  |  April 19th, 2007 at 8:38 am

But you have to ask yourselves WHY most of the board were against it. Can this geezer be trusted? I know deins a snake so maybe there views is the correct one.

But maybe not and thats life i’m afraid

  • 364. Little Dutch  |  April 19th, 2007 at 9:13 am

Any takeover should be judged on its merits. Personally, I’m just really sad that football has gone this way. UEFA should have seen this with Abramovic and tried to put a stop to all this, “geezer with the biggest wallet wins.” But no, as usual they are too fucking lazy, too busy condoning racism with their petty “fines” and fining players for wearing puma tracksuits to give a shit. I’ve said on mnay occasions that I felt members of the board would sell, I’m not surprised Dein was for it, for all the good he has done our club, he is a nasty piece of work. The fact is, most businessmen are, that’s what you have to do to be successful, “learn to smile as you kill” as John Lennon said. I am surprised that there is a clique who do not seem to want to sell. For Hill Wood there is a sentimental attachment to the club, usually I think he’s a bit of an old duffer but I admire his stance here.

  • 365. Blog Head  |  April 19th, 2007 at 9:22 am

The problem is dutch, like you say, its fucking inevitable in the end. Especially if you want to compete at the top.

It almost makes you wish you could stop watching dont it

  • 366. Little Dutch  |  April 19th, 2007 at 9:51 am

Certainly does, I wish my principles were strong enough to do what that Boro geezer did and throw my season ticket in someone’s face. I’d like to throw it in Johansson’s face, then follow up by pistol whipping Blatter before curling out a tightly coiled pile on Platini’s pillow. Sadly, I’m just too lilly livered. :-(

  • 367. kafka  |  April 19th, 2007 at 9:57 am

i don’t know, dein may be a snake, but he and arsene were good friends, and there are simply implications regarding arsene’s stay at the club, that is all i worry about.
earlier on this blog, research had been done in to what kind of guy kroenke is, and the verdict was that he is a prick of a person, but very noninterfering as an owner, and he puts money in. now, i don’t want to get into what kind of owner he would be just yet. but i have a feeling that dein is going to come back in some way, trying to engineer a hostile takeover or some shit. that does affect the football side of things. chelsea used to play sexy football didn’t they? and now? win at all costs. arsene talks about belief in a certain kind of philosophy because he believes in a certain kind of philosophy - and one of the implications of this kind of belief is that you have backers (the board) who are patient, and willing to stomach failure off and on (3 years in our case).
and Dein dealt with transfers. what if the new guy and arsene have trouble seeing eye to eye on a player arsene wants? what if the new guy is not enough of a snake to get arsene the players he wants? conjecture, all of it, but stilll..

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is set to snatch highly-rated Spanish striker Plata on a free transfer in the summer.

Wenger is making a move for the 17-year-old Plata, who is yet to sign a professional contract with Malaga, after being tipped off about his availability.
The Gunners manager wants Plata to snub Malaga’s offer and sign a long-term deal at the Emirates Stadium.

Wenger has launched a relentless search for the best young European talent with little money available for big name signings.

Plata is the latest player to have caught his eye and he is determined to get him to put pen to paper before the end of the season.

  • 370. cuzzycuz  |  April 19th, 2007 at 10:08 am

all these rich bilionaires didnt get rich by pissing money against the wind. These guys have certain values that they operate with in their everyday lives, namely the pursuit of profits with minimal risk. At the end of the day they are buying a business and want to realise a return from the investment. It’s not like its an abramovic situation where he doesnt really care about losses. At least they old arsenal board have some kinda sentimaental attachment aswell as a finanacial one to the club. This american is gonna look at it soley as a business and if he doesnt get his money back from success on the pitch then we dont know how far he will go to recoup his losses. Maybe even suggest a ground share wit spuds!!!!!!!

  • 371. Gelbs  |  April 19th, 2007 at 10:09 am

P-Hill-Wood - “However I believe the relationship that Arsene has with the rest of the board is good. He is on contract with us until 2008 and we very much hope that he will extend his contract beyond that, but we haven’t got into talking details on that yet.”

BIG fucking mistake. Wanting a misfit to lower Arsenal even more. Sad. Fuck off Hill-Wood. Stop living on past glories.

Top O Da Morning to ya’s!

Dein was pushed out coz he wanted the takeover by the Krankies, that much is clear. Now all this bollocks about Wenger will leave now and oh look, Inter are gonna sign TH now coz of this! What utter bollocks. Dein didn’t want the new Stadium, AW and the rest of the board did, DD wanted the takeover AW and the rest of the board didn’t. There’s 2 occassions when DD and AW have had differences, effing major ones too! Can you blame the board, regardless what you think of them? They’ve slogged their guts out (well, some of them) to get the stadium together and running on budget and on schedule, unlike Wembley! Just to let some Septic waltz in and say @well, thank ya kindly, but I’m the new sheriff now, seeyall’ and fucking takeover, with a nice spanking new stadium, training complex, etc?? Yeah course they should welcome him with open arms, fuck off. After all the hassle that went on with the Grove? Bollocks. Wenger, yeah course he’ll have to leave now, coz him and DD are friends! Yeah, coz that always happens in working environments don’t it? Ooh my mate’s left work, right I’m gonna go then, byeee!

The club need to appoint a new Vice Chairman or a post that does the stuff DD did; transfers, contracts, negotiations, etc.

And of course, we’ll have to put up with all the tabloid sensationalist bollocks too. But that’s to be expected. What we don’t need to do is wet our collective knickers.

    tubes, no thats non-bio

  • 389. gazzap  |  April 19th, 2007 at 10:42 am

kroenke wont buy Dein’s shares if he cant get other shares. the board have PROMISED not to sell for the foreseeable future, so Arsenal will not be sold to Kroenke any time soon. Good.
all we need is a canny chief executive now.

glad to see the beast wants to go back to spain and try harder with Real. makes you wonder why wenger bothers playing him in every game. wonder if reyes will come back. I hope not. sell reyes and buy a proper winger who is not from a warm country.

  • 390. tubes  |  April 19th, 2007 at 10:44 am

  • 395. Welling Gooner  |  April 19th, 2007 at 10:48 am

Re post 390. Agree that if Blog Head were to depart from this blog it would be a sad day. Talks complete shite but does brighten up my day.

  • 396. Blog Head  |  April 19th, 2007 at 10:49 am

  • 397. tubes  |  April 19th, 2007 at 10:51 am

    400th. to slow ron

  • 401. Blog Head  |  April 19th, 2007 at 10:55 am

tubes, always clear your history, thats all i know.

I’m totally addicted though. All i want to do at work nowadays is talk about football to other staff, talk about football on the net, and tell people on the net to lick my balls.

They’ve paid me for this for the last four / five months.

There watching me now though, I can just smell it. Asking me randonly what i’m working on and shit like that.

  • 402. Welling Gooner  |  April 19th, 2007 at 11:00 am

Blog Head - No I’m not taking the piss, some of what you come out with is genuinely amusing, - i.e having a go at people.
Tubes, depends on the way your company server is set up. I work 12 hours a day (6 till 6). My mate who works up in the IT dept told me I spent 8 hours and 17 minutes on the net last Friday and even told me which sites I ahd been on!

  • 403. tubes  |  April 19th, 2007 at 11:01 am

im meant to be a supervisor on a factory floor yet i spend 80% of my day on the net talking about football and trying to make friends!

  • 404. ron  |  April 19th, 2007 at 11:02 am

    jelly beans

  • 405. Welling Gooner  |  April 19th, 2007 at 11:02 am

Snap Tubes what’s your factory make?

  • 406. tubes  |  April 19th, 2007 at 11:02 am

dont say that welling otherwise thats me well and truly fucked.

best blog head argument was between him and clock end gooner, some of the shit he come out with was well funny.

  • 407. Gelbs  |  April 19th, 2007 at 11:03 am

I spend most of my time jerking off over the toilet graffitti in the toilets at work. Boss caught me once, noticed I had been gone for 10 minutes, came to the toilets (I forgot to lock it), barged in the cubicle just as I was about to climax and shot in his eye. Got a written warning for it.

  • 408. Blog Head  |  April 19th, 2007 at 11:04 am

Welling gooner, oh well done, now I cant be mindlessly rude to you anymore, sneaky

  • 409. tubes  |  April 19th, 2007 at 11:05 am

we make p.v.c extrusion for windows and doors - very boring, hence my time spent on the net.

  • 410. Mavis  |  April 19th, 2007 at 11:06 am

Tubes - Every time you ‘refresh’ the screen on the net it’s recorded with your IT dept. i.e. on this blog we’re all fucked!

  • 411. tubes  |  April 19th, 2007 at 11:10 am

that cant be right can it? anyway i thought it was illegal for the company you work for to look at what site’s you’ve been on unless they suspect you of being a kiddie fiddler or something as its an invasion of your privacy.

  • 412. Welling Gooner  |  April 19th, 2007 at 11:12 am

Blog Head carry on being rude or whatever, - as I say it brightens up my mundane day.
Tubes it all depends what your boss is like. Mine’s ok as long as the job gets out on time to the required quality. He can ask your IT dept (if you’ve got one) to monitor your internet, but as I say if you get the job gets done that should be all that matters. Agree about Bloggie and Clock Ends barney - some of it was classic

  • 413. Mavis  |  April 19th, 2007 at 11:14 am

Privacy at work?? I doubt it. Big brother in action mate. They probably wouldn’t do anything about it, but say if they wanted to get you out the door for some other reason, they could also add ‘Oh, and we note you spend half your time here fannying about on the internet. Goodbye!’

  • 414. Grovelad  |  April 19th, 2007 at 11:14 am

To all those wanting Arsene’s head, your time, I think is near. Isnt that good news to pple like Gelb and such??

I definitely want Arsene to stay, especially during such turbulent period…remember, 4th is not yet secure and if arsene were to go next season i think we are fucking doomed…even if we got 4th we still have to go through the qualifying rounds. Probably without TH, Fab, Gallas, a keeper, Gilberto who I think will follow Arsene wherever he goes. In fact, I think most, like RVP, Kolo, Denilson, Diaby whom Arsene supported, will leave because they came because of AW!!!

  • 415. Mavis  |  April 19th, 2007 at 11:15 am

Hasn’t clock-end since disappeared? What did you do to him blog head?

  • 416. Welling Gooner  |  April 19th, 2007 at 11:16 am

Tubes, our company monitor for porn and as you put it Kiddie fiddling. But the server altomattically logs every internet hit and can be used in evidence so to speak.
Bloggie - you going to the game on Saturday? If so you can meet up with all of us and buy us a drink

  • 417. tubes  |  April 19th, 2007 at 11:16 am

i think clock end played his part in it as well for taking him so seriously, you could just picture him staring at his screen, steam coming out of his ears and a bulging vein sticking out the side of his head.
anyway back to football is anyone confident ahead of saturday? im more confident than i was last week but still not expecting to much, i’d settle for a point.

  • 418. kafka  |  April 19th, 2007 at 11:18 am

Work wise, things are cool for me. I have my own cabin, no glass windows. Plus I’ve quit and i am just serving my notice period. so if they come in with some shit, i just tell them to fuck off.

    Gelbs is funny.

  • 419. Welling Gooner  |  April 19th, 2007 at 11:18 am

2 - 2 draw on Saturday Fab and Rosisky for us and Keane and Berbatov for them

  • 420. Mavis  |  April 19th, 2007 at 11:20 am

Yeah, all the Arsene haters must think xmas has come early. I reckon he’ll stay to the end of his contract in 2008, but if there was any doubt that he would extend, the news about Dein has made it even less likely. The board needs to work hard between now and the end of next season to prove to Arsene that it’s worth staying on. I.e. the promise of investment on the pitch and developing the trust between him and the rest of the board.

  • 421. Blog Head  |  April 19th, 2007 at 11:25 am

Well funnily enough me and clock end have now been seing eachother for two months, and i’m expecting his child.

Its going to support QPR for arguments sake

  • 422. Grovelad  |  April 19th, 2007 at 11:26 am

2008 is still too short, all the young players we have now are because of AW. What message it will send to Denilson, Hoyte, Fab, Merida. Forced out or not the board better calm the whole situation now. Hope it wont spill to the pitch. spud on saturday come on!!

  • 423. Blog Head  |  April 19th, 2007 at 11:26 am

Mavis, it could go either way though couldnt it.

You might sign Eto’o and Canavarro next summer

  • 424. Big Balls McLean  |  April 19th, 2007 at 11:41 am

OK – marcus. This blog ain’t big enough for both of us. You and me…outside….NOW! We’re gonna settle this once and for all. I’ll ‘buy you a pint…in a dirty glass’ as they say down our way. I’ll pick the time and place. Get yourself down to Holloway Road station . We’ll do this the man’s way. Stand in the middle of the track for no more than ten minutes and I’ll be along. We’re gonna end this once and for all.

  • 425. Geekov  |  April 19th, 2007 at 11:43 am

What is all this shit about players leaving coz of AW? Sounds just like the od sensationalistic tabloid bull shite!

Has Wenger come out and said he’s off? Do really think he’s gonna fuck off coz DD left? Do you get your ideas from tabloid headlines?

These and many other questions answered in next week’s episode….

    Cue end credits….

  • 426. ZM10!  |  April 19th, 2007 at 11:55 am

  • 429. Ruralgoon  |  April 19th, 2007 at 12:18 pm

Afternoon all! Well, I really dont know what to make of this takeover business… on one hand a healthy injection of cash is not to be sneezed at, however selling out completely to foreign owners is not something that sits well with me. If it ultimately means that our manager leaves and therefore a certain percentage of our players it can have NO positives to it. Also add in the fact that we have already done the whole new stadium and training complex thing, and you start to question further the motives of Mr Kroenke. other clubs that have had foreign investment are in a position to potentially expand via a new stadium and therefore the return on their money and their willingness to input funds for this purpose is obvious. Mr kroenke buying in now has a ready-made cash cow. His money has immediate potential to grow. To clarify; buyer A pays one fee for ownnership, another fee to improve the club so that the revenue increases and value increases and gets his profit for a sizeable outlay. Mr Kroenke buys his way in as the club is set to start reaping the rewards of a huge outlay already made-albeit with the aid of a loan. The finance details for repayment are already oulined, the risk to himself small, the increase to his cash guaranteed. I do not trust this man.
