In Defence of Emmanuel Adebayor

0 guns March 27th, 2007

After bailing out William Gallas yesterday, today I shall be representing Togolese totem-pole and all-round-seemingly-good-guy Emmanuel Adebayor.

It won’t have escaped your attention that Adebayor, along with a could of his mates, has been chucked out of Togo’s squad.

The official explanation was that these players “made indecent remarks concerning the FTT (Togolese Football Federation) management”.

And here are those remarks (no translation required), straight from Adebayor’s mouth:

“The bonus problem is still there. We were given promises but still nothing has been done. We’re still waiting to see the management and it’s in their interest to meet with us as soon as possible. Whatever happens, we’re not going to let this go. If they don’t pay up, I don’t know what will happen.I am only trying to put certain things right and correct a few mistakes in Togolese football, but it appears some people do not like it.”

Well, now we do know. To be honest, given what little I know of the situation, it seems like Adebayor is acting as a representative for his less financially fortunate team-mates, and is now taking the rap for standing up for their rights. A strange one. People have talked about Adebayor being a trouble maker in the past, but the label has never really seemed justified.

When you consider Ade was already considering his international future due to death threats, I’d have to say I wouldn’t be surprised if he threw in the towel. He’s a proud man and an ambassador for his country, but this really is getting silly.

Plus, it’d suit us right down to the ground.

ps. You may have noticed I haven’t been talking much about the “Arsenal shares scandal”. That’s because I knew it was ony a matter of time until this:

“There is no interest from KSE in buying any shares of Arsenal or any Premier League club.”

Adieu.

pps. I may have to take back any defence of Adebayor if his hair really is as bad as the following photo suggests. He is number 4:

Again, as with Gallas, people know half the story. The Togolese F.A have been taking money off the players and keeping it for themselves. It doesn’t matter how much money you earn, you have a duty to stand up against any employer who does that. The Togolese F.A did not provide the national team with goalnets or even footballs for the World Cup, they had to buy them themselves. People who whinge about how Ade ought to get on with it because he earns loadsa dosh anyway might do well to remember those sentiments the next time someone nicks their wallet. “Oh well, I earn £x a year, I won’t be bothering about this one.”

  • 4. terry  |  March 27th, 2007 at 5:37 am

I wish Arsenal would do the same, he’s a poser.

  • 5. J Marsh  |  March 27th, 2007 at 5:50 am

    Good article GS.

I read an interview with Ade when he was talking about the world cup dispute with the Togolese authorities and it did sound like a bit of a shambles. Apparently they didn’t even have footballs to train with, it’s easy to point out players moaning but with that level of organisation in place for the biggest tournament they’ll ever appear in you can understand it. There were also cases where Togo would fly players to games and only book a one way ticket to save money, the players had to sort out their own way home. Actually maybe we should have done that with the England players in Israel?

Ade get some stick from some of us by seeming a bit too cheerful after defeats, there’ve been cases of him laughing and smiling with opponents after the game (eg Diouf and supposedly the entire Chavski team) but I think that part of it is just his nature. He does genuinely seem like a friendly guy and, most importantly, I think he knows how lucky he is. He’s getting paid more money than he or his family ever dreamed of to do something he loves. Coming from his background and all I think maybe he has a little bit more perspective on how important football is in reality, I know that we’d usually rather someone like Roy Keane who you could never imagine smiling after losing a game but once in a while I think it’s not a bad thing to remember how much the thing we all care about so much really matters in the grand scheme of things.

He has come out asking for a new deal and I for one was angry when he did that so soon after signing a contract, but I can understand someone looking to secure the financial future of his family while he can.

  • 6. J Marsh  |  March 27th, 2007 at 5:52 am

Sorry LD, just read your post, didn’t mean to steal your point! What are you doing up at 5:30 anyway?

  • 7. J Marsh  |  March 27th, 2007 at 7:23 am

Sorry for being a ‘board hog’ but I just thought of something that I didn’t mention. It’s good from our point of view if Adabayor doesn’t ever play for Togo again. No disappearing off for the African Cup Of Nations for weeks in the middle of our season, or picking up injuries while not playing for Arsenal. Brilliant!
Can we get the rest of our players suspended by their countries please? Surely Gallas or Henry must have a gripe with France?

  • 8. tubes  |  March 27th, 2007 at 7:43 am

if i had a choice i’d much rather toure fell out with the ivory coast, still beggars cant be choosers.

  • 9. adam  |  March 27th, 2007 at 8:00 am

j marsh i was thinking the same, if only this would happen to all our players!

  • 10. Lancealittle  |  March 27th, 2007 at 8:10 am

I’m not sure on the issue of the payments. How much can the Tongolese FA earn? It’s not like they are going to sell the TV rights for much for any domestic or international game. The revenue for stadium tickets and merchandise will be nothing, so the players probably are earning far more than the FA has to spend. If Adebayor was doing it for his less well off teammates then he should give up his bonus as an example and just fight for theirs on the principle stake.
I remember Roy Keane making a fuss at the world cup saying that the facilities the Irish had weren’t up to his high standards and I thought at the time ‘Why the fuck don’t you stump up the cash rather than trying to rob the grass roots of Irish football where the money should be spent’ but the papers just ran his sob story.
And that excuse that having your wallet nicked? Well if I was a millionaire and someone wanted my wallet then I would give it up immediately and hope that they don’t try and stick a knife into me just for good measure.
AS for the no footballs and such like that would be the usual African inefficency but they always seem to make do with something ( I normally played with paper and other material wrapped in strips of inner tube tyre)
He does seem like a good bloke though, but still a bit immature and principalled, but I’m sure that he will become a bit more realistic in the future

  • 11. gaya  |  March 27th, 2007 at 8:22 am

i can relate to Ade’s plight. i am nigerian and i ran 100m in a national youth competition for my state in 1986 at the age of 15yrs. first time leaving home and i was really excited. cut the story short. we were all camped in a class room while the officails stayed in a nearby hotel and and we were given 25% of the daily wages we were promised and the whole expirience turned into a nightmare. what i regret to this day is that it destroyed the dream i had of one day taking part in an olympic. you see we were to young to complain and the best i could do was work away. now am sure does official are probably dead or poorer and am now an architect working in the uk

  • 12. Little Dutch  |  March 27th, 2007 at 8:42 am

Lancealittle, the fact is the money didn’t belong to the Togolese F.A. They made a huge amount when Togo qulaified for the World Cup, the players did that, and the F.A stole money they had promised the players. The wallet analogy wasn’t asking if you were a millionaire, i was asking, if someone stole your wallet, today, on the wages you earn, I presume you would brush it off and not inform the police on the basis that the assailant probably needs it and you earn more than a lot of people in this country?

  • 13. Scooch  |  March 27th, 2007 at 8:43 am

    Lancealittle,

Now I could be wrong here, but surely each nation receives a certain amount of cash for each tournament? whether it be African cup of Nations, World Cup or whatever and that’s where the bonuses for the players are worked out.

If the national federation has reneged on bonuses that were promised then surely it’s down to the players to fight for what they’ve been promised?

It’s like a boss offereing someone a whacking great Xmas bonus, but close to the time saying “well actually I’m keeping some of that back for myself/other federation members”.

I don’t think that how much money someone earns is the point. The point is the principle of the thing.

I also think that to say that Ade should give his bonus to the other players while their bonuses are being spent by the federation is ludicrous.

I like Ade and really hope he gives up national football, but that’s coz I’m selfish (you just ask my fiancee!!!)

  • 14. Ambrose  |  March 27th, 2007 at 8:43 am

Pay the man his money, its not a big deal really is it?
They should just pay what they owe, thing is tho, you’ve heard Ade talk and its hard to understand what the hell hes on about, its probably a mix up because they thought he called the Togolese presidents daughter a whore, but he really said we want more.

  • 15. Bill  |  March 27th, 2007 at 8:46 am

Can anyone help me with this:

With Henry + RvP out, what odds can I get on Adebayor to finish as our top scorer?

I’m hoping the bookie’s haven’t given this any thought yet and so he might still be out at a decent price.

    Ta.

Bloggie; if regular bathing doesn’t sort it out may I suggest calamine lotion…

On the subject of Ade; I have to say the bloke’s gone even higher in my estimations. He must also be pretty brave to stand up to any sort of african authority; there seems to be a deeply ingrained ftradition of corruption throughout most if not all authorities, with funds destined for wages/aid/ welfare vanishing into the pockets of those in control.

For his own safety now, it would be wise for Ade not to play internationals… there may be one authority figure sufficiently pissed off with him to wish him lasting harm… especially if UEFA launch any investigations.

  • 20. The Fuckhead  |  March 27th, 2007 at 10:22 am

Let the Togolese Officials sort out their mess and stop looking for scape goats. In any case, it will be good not to lose Ade for the Africa games next year. I hope he stays focussed on the Arsenal course.

  • 21. Blog Head  |  March 27th, 2007 at 10:31 am

just to return to the subject of Ben Johnson… he was by miles a better sprinter than Carl Lewis who has also himself been strongly linked steroids.

Respects… have to say that on this one you were wrong.

Lewis was a better athlete overall… but Big Ben was faster

Hydochloric acid. lol. Has anyone ever heard that Ozzy Osborne anecdote? Ozzy died his hair and convinced his guitarist to do likewise. Ozzy then pushed it a step further by telling his guitarist he had also bleached his pubic hair, so he managed to convince his guitarist to dip his knackers in a bowl of bleach. Classic. Blog Head, I think you should bleach your pubes, that’ll sort the itching out.

However much money that Togo got for the tornament why should it go to the players. If we think that Henry gets alot compaired to what we earn it is still a factor of 10 out compared to what Ade gets compared to what his countrymen earn. If the money for qualifing from Fifa belonged to the players not their FA then FIFA should claim it back on their behalf or pay them again.
Your right LD on the wallet thing but I would still just give the money up as my family are more important than the wallet full of money, and I think that he will come to that conclusion too. Life just isn’t fair and it’s alot less fair in Africa than it is over here.
Just because the money then goes into someone elses back pocket is just as wrong, it should all go into grass roots football providing real footballs for schools and even football boots. Any idea how many kids in that country can afford a pair of those?
Scooch I would love to see principles at work but it is the real world and football has no principals as far as FIFA is concerned.

Malouda from Lyon seems to be touting himself to us. who knows if wenger will take the bait but he is french and he is a winger with pace so you never know. does anyone know a lot about him? I only saw him play in the world cup where he looked average, but I dont like to judge players on things like a world cup. there are lots of excellent players who I know are excellent, that I saw have poor world cups. we need to know what he does all season round for his club.

  • 33. _*Respects Highbury  |  March 27th, 2007 at 11:56 am

    Afternoon all.

GTB: I disagree on Lewis. Big Ben was a dam good sprinter of course. And you are also right to state that Lewis was the better overall athlete - however, I doubt Big Ben could beat Lewis without the EPO, no chance. Lewis’s sprinting was not his original field of expertise but he became so good at it 4 years into his professional career, that in the end I doubt Big Ben could take him. Perhaps Maurice Greene and Bailey/Montgomery are better sprinters. However GTB I can wholly see that this may be one of thos subjective things. It’s like me thinking that Lewis was a better long jumper than Powell - even thogh Powell battered him in that epic… And anyway GTB, 100m sprinters are like Tour De France athletes: they’re all at it (doping). It’s just about the different levels of doping.

ADEBAYOR: He has pissed me off many times this season but he is a strange kind of player. He seems brilliant for 3 matches in succession but then, he stalls. I think he has drastically improved and has room for much more improvement. But he really needs top sort that hair out. It is truly a shocking sight to behold at times! And I do not care how much he dances with Henry, doesn’t bother me. If he’s dancing, it means he’s scoring!
Anyway let’s give him the benefit of the doubt as, African football organization is hardly renowned as the best now is it….

GILBERTO: Oh Dear. Here comes trouble. GilbertoSilver will have to change his name on Gunnerblog…lol

ON CESC: To all the ‘EPL Wrist-slitters’ out there…Despite the authoritative assertions that Cesc will leave for pastures greener, some people are forgetting to mention certain things.
Of course our season has been disappointing.
However, if I were Arsene Wenger persuading Cesc his future is in the best possible hands, the conversation would go a bit like this:

    CESC: ‘Arsene I am worried’

    A.W: ‘Pourquoi?’

CESC: ‘I feel maybe my future may lie elsewhere. There may be clubs that can offer me more professional success than this one’

A.W: ‘Mais Francesc…Let me inform you of a few things…’

    CESC: ‘Si Profesor’

A.W: ‘Tell me Cesc, how many clubs in European football can provide you with:
    a) The opportunity to play in, and win, an FA Cup final.
    b) The opportunity to play in the biggest club football match in the world, the ultimate club sporting occasion i.e. The Champions League final.
    c) The opportunity to play in a Carling Cup final, with the youngest team in history
    d) The opportunity to go to a the World Cup finals with your country
    e) The opportunity to become the second-youngest ever capped player for your country
    f) The opportunity to be named the European Footballer of the Year for Under-21s (Trofeo Bravo)
    g) The chance to be named in the UEFA team of the year for the Champions League

    Oh…and Francesc….’

    CESC: ‘Si Profesor’

A.W: ‘All by the tender age of 20 years old’

    CESC: (Silence…)

A.W: ‘When you find out the answer Cesc, bang it on a postcard and send it down to Colney…Until then stop bloody moaning and make me a cup of tea. And bring me three custard creams…’

  • 34. Blog Head  |  March 27th, 2007 at 12:03 pm

Jimmy Greaves made a good point the other day, he said how anyone associated with arguably our worst world cup campaign of all time is still involved is crazy.

  • 35. Good to be a GOONAH!!  |  March 27th, 2007 at 12:04 pm

Lewis never got near the times Johnson did.

Both were on steroids. In fact, the Seoul final featured an entire cast of users, dopers, drug hounds, and roid junkies…

it was only very recently that Ben’s 9.79 was beaten… and those records are now similarily questionable.

The fact remains… Big Ben beat Lewis at their peak… by MILES … in a race where Lewis ran the fastest of his career… and Ben had the audacity to turn, lift his arm in triumph and stare at Lewis as he crossed the finish line… adding at least .05 of second to his world record time.

    Lewis = better athlete… Johnson = faster

  • 36. Blog Head  |  March 27th, 2007 at 12:07 pm

    Respects,

I messed up on custard creams once. I was twelve. I gave up football and got bang on the custard creams. I blew up like a balloon. After I’d finished dunking, my tea would be almost completely gone. A year later I knocked them on the head and lost two stone in six months.

    I still get cravings now.

England are toilet. I hope they play Lumpalard and Gerrard (world-class? They’re not even urine-class) together for as long as is viably possible. A resounding thumping of Andorra tomorrow and the press will be in raptures over it, have no doubts. Remember: These are the very arse holes who hounded Eriksson out of a job. They insisted that the ‘British way’, is the best way.

    Oh Dear.

It has taken a nation of 50-odd million the best part of 43 years to finally realize what is obvious to every single person outside the confines of a mental asylum: English players are not good enough. England are not good enough. The footballing culture in England is all wrong. There is no meritocracy, simply favouritism - which would explain why the same eleven names can be expected on a team-sheet, regardless of form or performance.
Foreigners have greatly improved the overall technical skill level of an otherwise potentially-moribund league. If you want evidence of what it would be like to have a league without the input of the likes of Bergkamp, Cantona, Zola, Vieira and Henry…then please witness what occurs when you give a group of solely English players the opportunity to play amongst themselves: they can barely string a pass together. Much like their sentences….

As I said: one must be very careful what they wish for.
They asked for an Englishman and now the Little Englanders got what they want.

Question: what do ManUre, Arsenal, Liverpool and the Chavs have in common?
Answer: You got it. Not ONE is managed by an Englishman.
And out of all of them, the majority of their staring eleven are foreign.

In other news, I am really getting tired of ex-Arsenal ‘rent-a-quotes’ sticking their uneducated oars in. I have just read that Paul Merson (in between phone calls to his bookie) has found the time to berate Cesc Fabregas in public for his perceived ‘lack of respect’. Shame. Seems like Merse has been brainwashed by his punditry team at Sly Sports. Paul, please shut up and try spending less time with Andy gay and Jeff Smelling. Then, perhaps you would not talk so much shit - we expect the right-wing Republican hacks to give us tepid excrement.
What Gooners do NOT expect, is for ex-players to come out and join in the slagging matches. Add to this Tony Adams’ no show for Bergkamp’s testimonial and his public put-down of Wenger in the Champs League quarters against Juve last year (’Wenger has no chance against Capello. Capello is God’.’ Twat)….

Keown has been exemplary, and Overmars, Pires and Bergkamp’s behaviour (foreigners again…hhhmmmm) has been exemplary since they left the club.

Bla bla bla yap yap…Yeah ENGLISH players are best. Keep dreaming…

Who gives a shit about England? Rather see Arsenal life the Champions League anytime. Have always fel that way….

    Lancealittle,

I agree that there’s not many principles left in football all over the world, but to just roll over and not fight for something that’s yours by right is simply playing into the hands of the people who are ripping you off!

On a different note, why oh why do I keep giving England another chance??? On saturday I even rearranged a night out with friends so that I could watch the game, thinking to myself “Yeah I know they’ve been shit, but thats gotta end soon. And after all we’re only playing Israel and I can laugh when we kick their arses”

You can all imagine my absolute delight at the footballing feast that we all winessed, or not!!!

but anyone who writes “everyone wanted a good english manager after sven, not macca” absolutely misses the good point RH was making.

  • 58. Good to be a GOONAH!!  |  March 27th, 2007 at 1:02 pm

bloggie… what do you think of Robinson as a keeper?

  • 59. Good to be a GOONAH!!  |  March 27th, 2007 at 1:06 pm

if you could now remove yourself from the convo, ron… we’d be most appreciative

… the grown ups… and bloggie… are speaking

  • 60. ron  |  March 27th, 2007 at 1:06 pm

is that a fact? or is it an opinion?

or is an opinion that you are judging others by who disagree with it? facist?

i fully understood RH, hard not too when his posts are so clear & long!!

my knowledge of all the english managers is not great, but i am sure you can find at least one.

    im irish, u knob.

  • 61. Blog Head  |  March 27th, 2007 at 1:09 pm

Great keeper who’s character’s being tested. His forms picked up massively since christmas. And you have to remember how young he is, He;s only 26. I dont think most england keepers ever played before they were thirty. So really he’s got another four years of experience to have before you can compare him to Shilton / bankls / seaman

  • 62. Good to be a GOONAH!!  |  March 27th, 2007 at 1:10 pm

ah… from Boston then… well done

    anyway

Bloggie… dont you think that Robinson has taken a step backward this season?

  • 63. ron  |  March 27th, 2007 at 1:10 pm

so having made the conclusion that there are no good english managers, you then suggest a previous english manager that turned to a spoon bender.

    you seem very intelligent.
thats me being sarcastic, you probably wouldnt know unless i told u.

  • 64. Blog Head  |  March 27th, 2007 at 1:12 pm

Yes. only cos he got blamed for that ridiculous goal that wern’t even his fault. The balls he’s shown since then has been quality. He;s an hard bastard and he scored the other day so he’s a Legend in our eyes no matter what

  • 65. ron  |  March 27th, 2007 at 1:19 pm

robbo? fat bastard that will be replaced by both foster & carson.

his goal was a fluke, yes foster made a mistake. one. the rest of the time he is better than robson

  • 66. _*Respects Highbury  |  March 27th, 2007 at 1:21 pm

Blog Head, lol at the custard creams…Yeah they sure are addictive, but you need to cut out eating them with tea.

RON: Do you actually have Sly Sportd? Do you actually know who Rupert Murdich is? Do you know of his political involvements? Are you aware of his strategy? Clearly not. Because if you were, then you would be aware of the fact that Sly DO attempt to brainwash people. They have an undue influence on the FA and even a senile moron could see that. Sly Sports is the bible of the foolish, who believe it to be a paragon of virtue…Oh sorry Ron….

GTB: Good point on Lewis being the better all-round athlete. Still think Johnson, good as he may be, would have struggled against a more dope-up Lewis….As I said, it is subjective…

p.s RON: You wanted a “Good English manager” eh? So Ron. Please go ahead and name one. Oh and btw, Fat Sam does not count. Now please say Curbishley, so I can go and have a good old giggle…..

  • 67. Paul Robinson  |  March 27th, 2007 at 1:25 pm

Blog head, did you say….stilton!!!! mmmmmmmmmmmmm………………..

  • 68. Ruralgoon  |  March 27th, 2007 at 1:28 pm

One things for sure; whichever poor bugger takes up the poison chalice that is the england manager’s job after Big Mac is going to have to be a seriously hard bastard. he’s either got tto drop all the over-inflated egos completely, or puncture them so badly that they start to try to prove their worth. And they will have to pick the strongest contenders by their NATURAL POSITION, not pick the ten best outfield players by reputation and try to make them fit into some sort of system.

  • 69. Blog Head  |  March 27th, 2007 at 1:31 pm

    ok………….. I’ll do it

  • 70. Ruralgoon  |  March 27th, 2007 at 1:33 pm

  • 71. Little Dutch  |  March 27th, 2007 at 1:34 pm

To blame McLaren for England being shit is a bit like castigating Schumacher for not winning the Grand Prix in a Vauxhall Astra. The problems proceed him by many, many years.

  • 72. Blog Head  |  March 27th, 2007 at 1:38 pm

Dutch, Why’d he take off Lennon?

  • 73. Ruralgoon  |  March 27th, 2007 at 1:44 pm

Fair point well put, Bloggie!! But can you imagine the media uproar if he’d taken the ever useless lard off instead, as he should’ve done?

  • 74. ron  |  March 27th, 2007 at 1:49 pm

oh so andy grays comments are all part of the movement to destroy arsenal. sky is the devil!!! do u work for virgin RH?? or did u not pay your subscription bill?

at what point in your life do stop thinking if everything is against u?
perhaps your water is poisened by the g’ment or terriorists?
do u even leave the house?

RH dry your eyes & stop making a drama out of everything. is your life really that boring?

  • 75. ron - founder of all knowledge  |  March 27th, 2007 at 1:58 pm

i eagerly await your next essay

  • 76. _*Respects Highbury  |  March 27th, 2007 at 2:01 pm

No Ron. Actually basic analysis of your drivellous wrist-slitting serenades, is enough to make anybody see that the miserichord here, is indeed you Ronald McDonald.

As I said: you would need a basic understanding of political theory in order to see that Rupert Murdoch and his clan of right-wingers have it in for Arsenal. You would also have to understand the ins and outs of the Home Office immigration system, and Republican opposition to systematic labour migration. Look at the ethnic and religious background of most of the Arsenal team and any stem cell can figure it out - oh, perhaps apart from yourself Ronald. No drama involved Ron.
Merely a modicum of intelligence and insight required. All of which, sadly pass you by.

My eyes are indeed wet Ron: they are crying at the thought of your sad and uninspiring analysis. Sad.

Tell me Ron. How does Andy Gay call Tomas Rosicky a ‘dover’ for the penalty he got against the Sp*rs at the Grove, whilst Ronaldo, who is by common consensus a cheating diver for his comedy act at the Riverside…”off-balance”. How can Andy Gay call into question the integrity of Van Persie, even though Chris Morgan had clearly punched him in the ribs? Can you answer that Ron? Still not?

    Ok then so shtum.

Now tell me Ronald: how much will you charge to do one of my kids’ birthday parties? And how many free cheeseburgers will we get? Silly billy….

P.S Life is great thanks. You are the miserable sod here. Pas moi….

  • 78. Lancealittle  |  March 27th, 2007 at 2:03 pm

The press did force the FA into going for an English man, but the FA were cowards in employing McLaren we had had him being shit with Sven so why keep him. The other English managers do not really get a chance at the big time, with Wenger and Furgy occuping their places, rightly, at two of the top clubs and Liverpool looking that way now as well as Chelsea. The only way an English manager is going to get the experience that he needs will be to coach abroad for a few years and get a good job over in Italy or Spain who like to rotate their managers every couple of years. Anyway England are crap and will always be as long as their ego’s are pampered, that’s always going to happen as long as Terry Venables is in the set up.
We will always be crap as long as we have a Neville in the team, it’s on of Einsteins laws of physics.

  • 79. Good to be a GOONAH!!  |  March 27th, 2007 at 2:05 pm

sorry to confuse you ron… but Im not sure that I can USA Today down my posts for you. Perhaps you will read them back slowly…

  • 84. mavis  |  March 27th, 2007 at 2:22 pm

RH - ron is one of bloggie’s (very convincing) pseudonym/alter-egos. You’ve been done by a Spud.

  • 85. Blog Head  |  March 27th, 2007 at 2:25 pm

Mavis, I bet even your own family take the piss out of you

  • 86. mavis  |  March 27th, 2007 at 2:28 pm

  • 87. ron - founder of all knowledge  |  March 27th, 2007 at 2:30 pm

a mature sophisticated person, such as myself

  • 88. tubes  |  March 27th, 2007 at 2:30 pm

mavis, ron is genuine i think as he used the words “dead on” to describe RH which is mainly used in northern ireland.

  • 89. gazzap  |  March 27th, 2007 at 2:30 pm

they should drop the idea of having an england manager altogether since no one that is potentially lined up for the job could do it without being sacked soon after taking the job. instead they should operate on a co-operative basis where the fans get to make all the big decisions. maybe there could be a panel of fans at the ground or everyone at home votes interactively for things like line up, formation and substitutions. majority rules.

The FA would save a packet on not having to pay for another imbicile to fuck up further what is already fucked up.

  • 90. tubes  |  March 27th, 2007 at 2:31 pm

FYI my bedroom is minty buff.

  • 91. mavis  |  March 27th, 2007 at 2:31 pm

Fair enough tubes. He just comes accross as complete joke, so you can understand my scepticism. Plus, him and the blogmeister always appear at the same time…

  • 92. Ruralgoon  |  March 27th, 2007 at 2:34 pm

Mine is peppermint #6! Do I get bonus points for having an arsenal calendar, coaster and alarm clock in a room shared with a rabid liverpool fan [and no liverpool stuff at all!!] ?

  • 93. mavis  |  March 27th, 2007 at 2:37 pm

Gazzap - why don’t the FA have a reality show where by the public can vote for the manager? Usual format - one person gets voted off by the public each week. Their punishment is to spend a week in Bloggie’s pink bedroom, sniffing his itchy groin. The winner gets the marginally more gratifying task of managing England.

  • 94. Blog Head  |  March 27th, 2007 at 2:37 pm

    Rural, No, you get disqualified

  • 95. Blog Head  |  March 27th, 2007 at 2:38 pm

Mavis I’m going to have to turn the tables on you.

Do you post as someone else? cos |I dont remember introducing you to my groin.

  • 96. ron - founder of all knowledge  |  March 27th, 2007 at 2:38 pm

do you have a rabbit in your bedroom farmer football fan??

  • 97. mavis  |  March 27th, 2007 at 2:39 pm

Rural - if you can persuade the liverpool fan to wear a gooner top in bed, then you win hands down.

  • 98. mavis  |  March 27th, 2007 at 2:41 pm

no bloggie, i’ve just been hanging around, biding my time and waiting for some action.

  • 99. *_Respects Highbury  |  March 27th, 2007 at 2:41 pm

Ron you nutter…my bedroom colour is actually auburn. Thinking of having it changed to white, to match our away kit next season. Not that the Mrs will approve…I will be a dead man if I even think of it….lol.

Lancealittle give up on England they are comedians….

  • 100. ron - founder of all knowledge  |  March 27th, 2007 at 2:45 pm

RH - “Thinking of having it changed to white, to match our away kit next season. Not that the Mrs will approve…I will be a dead man if I even think of it….lol.”

if u r thinking of it, then why are u not dead, mr smarty panties??

well mr i have a degree in politics??

  • 101. J Marsh  |  March 27th, 2007 at 2:56 pm

Ron - When you say ‘Founder of all knowledge’ are you thinking of the expression ‘Fountain of all knowledge?’….it’s just they’re very different things and one doesn’t really make sense.
Mavis - I’ve come to the conclusion that, like so many things in life such as parking attendants, queues in pubs, crappy English weather and last minute Man Utd goals…unfortunately Ron is very much real and here to stay.
Just to go back to the england thing for a second. My number one choice was Hiddink, before the court case I should point out. If he can do what he did with the Korean team then surely he could do something with England??
Rural-You lose all points gained for the Arsenal items in your bedroom by having a Liverpool item in your bed.

  • 102. Blog Head  |  March 27th, 2007 at 2:56 pm

You remind me of a man named Robin

  • 110. Lancealittle  |  March 27th, 2007 at 3:13 pm

RH I stopped watching England (except major tournaments) but I still get wound up by it all, and am very glad that no Gunner is part of it although I obviously would like some players to be involved in the next Cup. Hoyte might not be great but he’s better than Phil Neville for gods sake.

  • 111. Ruralgoon  |  March 27th, 2007 at 3:13 pm

    Mavis; I’ve managed that!!!

  • 112. ron - founder of all knowledge  |  March 27th, 2007 at 3:19 pm

lance a lot - im glad no arsenal players play for england but obviously i want them to play for england in the next WC.

thats all the evidence anyone needs.

that i am indeed a moron.

perhaps RH died just after he realised he was thinking about white walls

  • 113. Good to be a GOONAH!!  |  March 27th, 2007 at 3:23 pm

hey ron… when you found your knowledge… is there a fountain involved?

  • 114. Lancealittle  |  March 27th, 2007 at 3:30 pm

Ron my comment was for the current setup of Mclaren / Venables who are without doubt the biggest pair of national muppets since Taylor. I don’t think that they will last much longer, Venables will jump or get pushed McLaren might hang on until the Euro finals if we are still around.

  • 115. ron - founder of all knowledge  |  March 27th, 2007 at 3:30 pm

founder, as in founded - basically means im pretty smart, but i suppose u all already are aware of that.

btw ‘gunner’ is how u spell it properly mate

  • 116. *_Respects Highbury  |  March 27th, 2007 at 3:42 pm

If Ron is a real character, I despair for humanity…and besides, Mr Ronald McDonald has yet to let me know how much it will cost to have my children’s party at McDonalds. How many free cheeseburgers do we get with 25 Happy Meals? You there Ronald?

Anyway…I think Ron is clearly just a wind-up merchant revising for his GCSE English Lang. Note to Ron: avoid the questions on grammar and basic structure. You are bound to fail.

Ron, actually speaking of white walls…how silly of me to overlook your profound knowledge of white walls. Could you do me a favour and let me know what shade of white the walls in your mental asylum are painted??

    Ta lad.

P.S Ronald, I am STILL waiting for the name of this ‘world-class’ English manager that you were baying for. Until you have come up with a suitable answer, I expect you to now admit that your knowledge of football has now been profoundly discredited.

LANCE: Seriously do not even let England do your head in. Just look at how the FA treated Akin-B and Wenger (but Ron thinks we are paranoid…noooh, the lovely FA would never grant one rule for Arsenal, another for…)
And Lance, add to that the Wembley Fiasco…the balls-up over Scolari…and surely you could see this impending comedy on the horizon- no? Anyway Lance. The best thing that could happen to this country is McClaren, trust me. Hopefully, it will lead to a drastic shake-up in the neo-colonial thinking of the FA and of England fans. England are NOT an elite team. English players are NOT ‘World-Class’. Fact. English players are technically inferior to no only the elite, but even teams such as Sweden and Croatia. Fact. There are no world-class English coaches about, and the culture of “we know better, our players are best” is fundamentally flawed.

Oh, and this debacle will finally expose the tabloid hacks as the kovorkians they really are at long last. Even a fuckwit BNP-loving Milwall fan should be able to see that these idiots hounded Sven out of a job - without any foresight and with disastrous consequences. They got what they wanted, and now the press has led to England going from mediocrity to the depths of despair.

    Comical.

P.S Lance - Hoyte or Phillipa NEVILLE? Hhhhhhhmmmm….did you see Hoyte for the Under-21s? Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez…..awful……………………

  • 117. ron - founder of all knowledge  |  March 27th, 2007 at 3:47 pm

FOOTBALL: I think english players are pants. The public unreconstructed escapists and conceited. Tbh the players and the fnas deserve each other. • 127. azul_1913  |  March 27th, 2007 at 5:39 pm

    Lancealittle you are talking shite.

If the Togolese FA can’t pay bonuses then they shouldn’t agree contracts to pay such bonuses. If they do so, it is certainly not Adebayor’s responsibility to bail them out. Furthermore as Togolese Captain it was his duty to represent his team-mates, not simply cause he felt sorry for them and their lesser earnings.

There was no way Keane should have paid for the facilities in Saipan. Again - not his responsibility nor that of his teammates. It is that of the FAI. You seem to have some notion that it would rob Irish football of money to pay for top class conditions at the biggest footballing stage there is… strange logic… but anyway if you knew anything about it (i would speculate it is you who only knows the little bit you read in the paper) you would know the major problem was the island chosen was on the recommendation of the FAI’s travel agents. Not out of any great logistical strategy.

He’s fun to read ron if you know what i mean, how many people have the intellectual capacity to apply political theory to football punditry ron? i wonder though if his understanding of political theory is the same as his understanding of EQUIVOCAL. RON (or LMFAO, or whatever other alias you are under lol): Only a fuckwit (who could I be talking about?) would misconstrue the message I was making to the dickhead on this blog, at the time: I was INTENTIONAL in telling the guy he had argued his point in a coherent and ‘equivocal’ manner. It is call sarcasm, and deliberate paradox for the causal effect, of humour.

However. As there was an undertone of intelligence and humour to my riposte, I would only expect the smart folk on this blog to get it. Not underage masturbating vermin such as yourself, and ‘Ozzie Arse’… (who by the way, is LMFAO -remember everyone? The racist fuckwit)

    That will be all.

No time to waste on idiocy.

P.S Everyone, in case you had not noticed, RON, is actually that racist homosexual cock, LMFAO. In case any of you are oblivious to what this dickhead has been up to, please refer to 2 blogs ago, when GilbertoSilver denounced him for his disgusting comments on black people. Ron/LMFAO/Imbecile/OzzieArse/Chennai Gooner/Nobby’s nuts…Oh Dear.

    How woefully pathetic.

    Need to get a life.

I do not, will not, and will never dialogue with racists. You are no Arsenal fan, so go find your mummy down at Kings Cross now. There’s a good boy.

Would discuss Locke and J S Mill with you at length - but anyone that is racist is a stupid cunt. So until your ma educates you properly, don’t bother trying to joust with me son.

    Ta.

  • 134. Rob  |  March 27th, 2007 at 7:06 pm

Oh n btw RH. Reckon u’re on the money. Its obvious that ‘OzzieArse’ is LMFAO. Only a cunt would laugh at ron’s jokes when nobody finds him at all funny. laughing at his own jokes now theres a sight! and Chennai Gooner is of course the same cunt for laughin at Ron’s jokes. since when has Ron been funny? oh yeah. he’s funny if u ARE ron under an alias under LMFAO. all cunts. can we ignore these ppl n get back to footy? and more to the point have u seen the news on ribery n abidal??! well exciting! where does that put Clichy though?

  • 135. Rob  |  March 27th, 2007 at 7:08 pm

Where is Gelbs? he is well funny….though depressed!

  • 136. azul_1913  |  March 27th, 2007 at 7:49 pm

Seeing as Gelbs is the only who uses sad things like ‘LMFAO’ and ‘LOL’ and he is mysteriously quiet today it’s fair to guess that these are his other usernames.

  • 137. Rob  |  March 27th, 2007 at 8:12 pm

No believe me Azul, I am NOT Gelbs! Other people use the terms LMFAO - but Azul. I was actually talking about a motherfucker that once came on this blog by the alias of ‘LMFAO’, As you said. Only a CUNT uses terms like ‘LMFAO’ as his username. And he was a racist shit. He said black ppl ‘got above their stations in society’. Wanker that guy is. Must be depressed az his mum is a dirty slut whore. She had a shit and he came out lol. Anyway Azul. Wot do u make of Abidal and Ribery? am excited! better than ferarri or cana, lmfao

Ok now we’ve agreed that Nobby’s nuts-LMFAO-Ozziarse-Chennai Loser…are all the same bell end prick can we move on now please? if they pop up again they’ll only give themselves away. ron just wants to be loved he’s desperate for adulation. so if u ignore him hopefully he’ll chuck his plugged hairdryer into his full bathtub. lol…anyway Rob. on Abidal and ribery. i would love both! i know we’ave clichy but u can never be too sure with injuries as the season showed us. ribery is a must methinks. abidal can do a solid job and we cud push clichy up to left-wing if its an SOS. anything added to our squad will be good for moral and great for henry n gallas who’ll be happy to have their french mates with!

  • 140. Jamie  |  March 27th, 2007 at 8:50 pm

    Gooner09. U are so full of shit its transparent. Nob. Its clear u r no 13 year-old try as u might. • 145. ron-founder of all knowledge  |  March 27th, 2007 at 9:30 pm

I am NOT LMFAO. You might want to check with gilbertosilver to confirm that. I agree LMFAO is a racist lowlife and deserves to be condemned.

That said, RH your trick is working linking me with LMFAO. Anybody that questions your ‘intellect’ on here gets branded racist. In any case you are the king of aliases yourself so how can I not be sure if RH is not LMFAO? What has your not knowing what equivocal is got to do with one being racist? And before you give one more laughable excuse, THIS IS WHAT YOU SAID ON 27TH jANUARY

‘However ANIL, thank you for at least showing some semblance of education.
Thank you for constructing your points in a fair, balanced and
    equivocal manner’

Doesn’t strike me as being sarcastic. You are a sad fraud and when you get rumbled you act in a typical fashion. Others buy it, I don’t einstein. Call me whatever you want, atleast I don’t lick your arse with ‘ I come on here to read your posts’! yuk

  • 146. Mikey  |  March 27th, 2007 at 9:31 pm

Aaaagh can u all please stop this bitchy bickering? It is getting ridiculous. Dam. Look we all agree Ron is an irritant. LMFAO is banished and defo not welcome as he is a racist toss-pot with no education or class so he cannot be a Gooner. Gooner09 is a Gooner however and is Jamie anbd whoever the hell else. The ppl on this blog that are NOT Gooners give themselves away i.e. Blog Head, ron, LMFAO, Nobbys Nuts and Chennai ‘Gooner’. Although Blog head is ok sometimes though a bit schipzo! The rest of them are a bunch of cunts. You know it, I know it everyone else knows it. So just do what a Gooner should do and show more class. Rise above it and ignore them. They only talk to themselves and big themselves up anyway (note the conversation taking place between OzzieArse - yes cos we’ve heard of him before?- and the other dicks). End of the day the sole purpose of wankers like ron and LMFAO is to shit-stir on the blog. And you lot bickering like grannies simply plays into their cuntish hands. Let’em say whatever they like end of the day no one takes them sseriously. Not even their own mothers. So now leave it once n for all and let’s get back to what matters: Arsenal FC. I would be happy ith Abidal althugh the jury is out on Ribery. But if Arsene wants to sign him its clearly cuz he rates him! I am with Good To B that Wenger should do all he can to sign Akinfeev of CSKA. Top keeper. Laters….And peace out!

  • 147. Mikey  |  March 27th, 2007 at 9:32 pm

Ron: at least some ppl buy it. I read RH’s posts and I think he makes sense 85% of the time and also writes well. Anyway it beats being like you Ron i.e. a complete and utter cunt.

  • 148. boring-boring-arsnal  |  March 27th, 2007 at 9:35 pm

It seems Gilberto got injured in the friendly against Ghana. Hope it’s not serious

  • 149. ron-founder of all knowledge  |  March 27th, 2007 at 9:35 pm

Good for you mikey, the worker drone that you are. Clue 1984

  • 150. ron-founder of all knowledge  |  March 27th, 2007 at 9:40 pm

sorry sod defining their worth in terms of how their appreciation of another dimwits drivel. You obviously believe mikey that Political theory has something to do with Andy Gray’s punditry or keys’ commentary? Right out of a 1984 page.

  • 151. ron-founder of all knowledge  |  March 27th, 2007 at 9:42 pm

    * in terms of their appreciation of another dimwits drivel

  • 152. *_Respect Highbury  |  March 27th, 2007 at 10:18 pm

    Oh Dear.

Or should I say: ha ha ha.
Ron, you truly are a wondrous mooncalf of the highest order. Your stupidity, sadness and lack of originality know no bounds. Let us get this much straight Ron: I KNOW you are LMFAO. Strange how you seem to develop the very same outlandish line of argumentation that that cunt does. Curiouser and curiouser…

So Ron, of you wish to speak of the term ‘fraudulent’, I believe we can talk about yourself at this juncture. You seem to fit the bill pretty well.
Ron. You are an ‘EPL’ boy, who is clearly a Yank - but that pretends he is actually from Ireland. Hhhhmmm…as Good To Be said and I quote: “So you’re from Boston then. Shall I USA Today-style” translate this for you? Silly billy. The your fraudulent nature continues. So tell me Ron. You DO know this is a blog for “Gunners” do you not? You know what that means? It is this football club called Arsenal. You see, their fans are called “Gunners”. They were founded in 1886…did you know they were originally known as “Dial Square”? (without Googling it).

And the fraudulent Ron persists. So, allegedly you live in Ireland? Good for you sonny-Jim. So tell me ron Mr I-spend-my-time-on-an-Arsenal-blog: just how do you find the time to attend Arsenal matches, living in Ireland? Do yo nip on the Ryanair in between showings of Riverdance? Oh dear. So. A sad cunt on an Arsenal blog, who isn’t even an Arsenal fan.
    The fraud and deception continues.

Then today, you gave us a classic. The man who is “Irish”, seems to care so much about hoe England are doing in the football. Oh, and he strangely thinks that McClaren is not the “World-class” manager he was baying for. You STILL have not told me, or named me, ONE single “world-class” English manager. Know why?
That’s right. Because you are an imposter without the foggiest about football! That’s why!

Oh dear Ron. So much more evidence to continue with.
And then you are sad enough to spend your time trawling through the archives to find a quote from me. You then proceed to inform me that “that doesn’t SOUND sarcastic to me”.

As I said: how’s GSCE English Lang coming along? You possess this incredible skill at being able to apparently HEAR whether somebody you have never met, SOUNDS sarcastic or not, on a blog! You ace genius! Brain of Ireland!

If you want to discuss dystopian literature and the disintegration of totalitarianism and autocracy, I am game. One problem: you are a stupid cunt!

Actually, speaking of Orwell, I feel a little like Winston (Smith) at the moment. You know, fighting this sad reality of the world of today i.e. the uneducation of supine morons such as yourself. You my friend, are the thought police advocate of stupidity. Ideology for the hebetudinous, if you like…

So consider this blog entry to consist as part of Winston Smith’s diary. Except, it’s speaking of the sad descent into stupidity of one individual i.e. you.
Oh and Ron last thing: when you are trying your utmost to persuade the world and his dog that you ‘do not read my posts’, you give your evident stupidity away by often commenting on the posts I’ve made. Silly billy!

Anyway Ron. Now that I have said my peace, there really is, no more to ever say to you. So from now on, as somebody else suggested earlier; you can go on rambling to yourself if you wish.

Add to that your absolutely distasteful and uneducated views on women, as witnessed by your shameful and disgraceful sexist language used towards Ruralgoon the other day (would you like a reminder?)…and you have all the ingredients of one utter class-A quarter-wit.

So Ron: my dialogue with you ceases for good at this juncture. Since you seem to have such a profound interest in 1984 and Orwell, we all know what your motto is in life now don’t we:

    “Ignorance is strength”

    Keep strong my boy!

    Case closed.

  • 153. ron-founder of all knowledge  |  March 27th, 2007 at 10:30 pm

    LOL. Fuckwit

  • 154. ron-founder of all knowledge  |  March 27th, 2007 at 10:31 pm

    PMSL.

  • 155. Jamie  |  March 27th, 2007 at 10:34 pm

Lmfao RH that was fucking hilarious. The ‘fan’ who never attends matches but yet all he does is criticize Wenger. And he uses ‘EPL’. What a twat! Lol expose the cunt he’s probs a yiddo on a wind-up…ignore the cock. Ok Gooner09 btw I’m sorry if I was harsh on you. Fair play if u r not LMFAO. Im actually startin to think maybe its Big Wrong (aka ‘ron’ lol). 1 last thing the way he spoke to Rural on the blog that day was sexist and disgusting. No place as a Gooner with such shit. Enough of this crap let’s waste no more time. Let’s talk transfers! Abidal and Ribery look as if they r really gunner happen!!!

  • 156. Mikey  |  March 27th, 2007 at 10:38 pm

Ron ‘founder of all things stupid and gay’. Respects kudos mate that was class. That was one of them posts wwhere I unfortunately only got 80% of it but anyway fairplay. As I said I would not bother with these gits anymore anyway. Waste of time. Let’s talk Arsenal: this Ribery and Abidal thing looks real. And it seems as if Wenger is only pursuing Ferrari to throw Chelski off-scent. Decoy methinks. Arsene knows!

  • 157. ron-founder of all knowledge  |  March 27th, 2007 at 10:44 pm

LOL. What a sight. Three drones sucking each others balls. Pity coz only one of them gets to shoot his load. No rizes for guessing who. Fuckwits LOL.

  • 158. Rob  |  March 27th, 2007 at 10:47 pm

Actually Mikey I reckon Wenger really IS after Ferrari. And I gotta say that is worrying me mate. We do NOT fucking need him! Why? Maybe he can cover at r-b but if i’m not wrong he’s not a r-b is he?

  • 159. Mikey  |  March 27th, 2007 at 10:48 pm

Rob: the whole Ferrari thing is paper talk and whispers. Nothing more to it. I agree he wasn’t the best at Everton though but we shall wai and see. As it is I don’t think we need cover at r-b. i know ppl slate him but I reckon Hoyte can really do a job for us and will come good in 2/3 seasons. I know guys like Gelbs won’t wanna hear that though! Some ppl have no patience!

  • 160. Rob  |  March 27th, 2007 at 10:50 pm

Mikey on Ferrari. I have a good mate who actually lives in Rome and he says Ferrari has more potential than Mexes but I simply dont believes him! Mexes has skill I wouldn’t mind him. But suppose there’s no proof?…I do think Ribery would work though

  • 161. Mikey  |  March 27th, 2007 at 10:54 pm

Sorry Rob but I think your mate is right on that one. Ferrari is more versatile than Mexes and way more solid. I also think he’s quicker. See we’re linked with some Norwegian kid and some French kid as well. Know who they are?

  • 162. Rob  |  March 27th, 2007 at 10:57 pm

Nope i believe you are mistaken Mikey! Mexes is WAY more solid than Ferrari. 100%. Mexes i think will be playing for France tomorrow you just watch him. think Arsene was after him before he signed for Roma but thought he weren’t mature enough yet. Ferrari was at EVERTON ffs! i know they beat us but come on!..

  • 163. Jamie  |  March 27th, 2007 at 11:03 pm

Phew! Good to see footie is back on the menu! The ‘bedwetters’ (aka ron n gelbs) are away! lol. Anyhow I gotta say think Ferrari would be a crap signing. I really reckon we should go for Torres or bring anelka back. speaking of France did u see him score for them the other day? he’s still got it but yes. i know this is very unpopular and some guys wont want it. If not quite like the look klose of werder.B. apparently we are after him as well. i reckon he would score loads for us but anyone know how old he is?

  • 164. Mikey  |  March 27th, 2007 at 11:05 pm

Jamie, Klose is 29. I know cos I’m half-German! Also kaiserslautern are my second team (after the Arse course!) and he was brilliant for them. I’d love to see him at Arsenal good idea

  • 165. Rob  |  March 27th, 2007 at 11:06 pm

Fux sake what’s this? KLOSE? Are you MAD? No feckin way! Slow and overrated.

  • 166. Mikey  |  March 27th, 2007 at 11:09 pm

Sorry Rob but you clearly don’t watch much German football then and I am surprised that being an apparent footy fan that you missed the WC. Then you woulda seen Klose be the top scorer with 5 goals. Overrated? Then tell me how you get over 40 goals at practically the rate of one every 3 games, playing for an average team like Kaiserslautern??! Can ya then?

  • 167. Rob  |  March 27th, 2007 at 11:11 pm

Ez to answer your question Mikey: the Bundesliga is shit! Course he scores a bucketload in that substandard league. Its a joke and Bayern win it every year! And at the WC I thought we all agreed that international football is shit lol…

  • 168. Mikey  |  March 27th, 2007 at 11:14 pm

Rob now you just sound silly. You said ‘Its a joke and Bayern win it every year!’. As i said. Clearly dont watch much Bundesliga. If you did then you’d see that Bayern are struggling to even make the CL places! And u say ‘Bayern win it every year’? So tell me who has won the league in this country for the past 2 years? Who were the top 2 last years? How about this year? And who have th top 3 been for the past 3 seasons? Ok then so stupid argument.

  • 169. Jamie  |  March 27th, 2007 at 11:18 pm

International football IS shit! But I think Klose is well decent and could do a job for us. Look at all the chances we creat i mean leave off. Surely nothing is worse than Baps or Ali?! Course not! As long as he don’t cost more than £7 million i say why not? anyway this is sad. Its March and we’re talking about fantasy transfers that will never happen. knowing Wenger he’ll probs only sign some shit Frenchie embryo anyway nobody’s ever heard of. probs freeze it for years in ou trainig ground fridge! Man i swear. Yeah klose is good but i want at least one BIG NAME. Sumthin thats gonna make our rivals brick it. U know like an Adriano or Zlatan or Luca Toni. will it happen? will it f….anyway i’m off to bed. what a shit season :-(

  • 170. Rob  |  March 27th, 2007 at 11:21 pm

Mikey fairpoint on the Bayern thingy. But its a freak season and anyway who knows they might end up 2nd anyway? if u want proof of what a joke the German league is then look at Ballack down at Fulham blues. He was the main man in Germany was he not? Now what does he do? Fuck all thats what. Once he made the step-up he couldn’t hack it. no disrespect but the German league is weak-ass!

  • 171. Mikey  |  March 27th, 2007 at 11:28 pm

A ‘freak season’ you call it Rob? So how do you explain that Werder won the Bundesliga recently? And its no one-off Werder are often in the CL. Anyway we could go on about this all day but its pointless. Back to Arsenal and I think Klose would score loads for us. Loads. Mark my words. Abidal I like but Ribery?…well…better than nothin s’pose? And Jamie why the fuck all the sad dramatics? ‘Shit season’? Take it you only started following the Arse when fakes like Ron did then (that means the Unbeaten season). Now Jamie. We thrashed Liverpool many times and made the CC final with one of the youngest ever teams (youngest ever, think) we also have one of the best players in the world (Henry) and the best young player in the world (Fab4). Theo will get better and we are 3rd. We have a spanking new stadium and a top manager. And have a butchers of this quote from The Mail:
‘As the last remaining English football superpower not to fall into the hands of a foreign oligarch, Arsenal appear like the independent shopkeeper who refuses to sell out to the all-powerful supermarkets. The team might be more cosmopolitan than a series of A Place In The Sun but Arsenal the institution retains its aristocratic heritage, reflected in the club’s lengthy associations with the Hill-Wood and Bracewell-Smith dynasties.’

So next time u wanna jack it all in remember that! We never sold out and were still in the mix. Anyhow this is pointless i’ll have a nap n’all. AFC FOR LIFE! UP THE ARSE! Laters…

  • 172. Rob  |  March 27th, 2007 at 11:42 pm

That I will agree with Mikey! Yup so much depression setting in on the blog these days. Kinda explains why its dead now n then. Echooo?! lol. Oh well…here’s to next season and the last word on Klose. he’s not good enough for the Arse! Late now

  • 173. Mikey  |  March 27th, 2007 at 11:49 pm

So you thought you’d be crafty eh? I’m still awake ya pussy! Miroslav IS good enough to play for the Arse. The mere fact that Arsene is looking at him says it ALL! End of and last word!

  • 174. Rob  |  March 28th, 2007 at 12:14 am

Lol I’m still awake. I guess the only way to solve this Mikey is by letting the ppl decide. So can the regulars of the blog i.e Rural, Respects, LD, GTB, J Marsh and Gunner8 all give us your views on the Klose debate i’m avin here with Mikey. IS he good enuff for the Arse?! cheers. and now i really am off to bed!

  • 175. Rob  |  March 28th, 2007 at 12:14 am

P.S Mikey actually think you’ll find I got the last word in lol…

  • 176. Mikey  |  March 28th, 2007 at 12:36 am

No you feckin did NOT! Insomniac says Klose for Arse!

  • 177. J Marsh  |  March 28th, 2007 at 5:58 am

    Mornin folks,
How’s it going? On the Klose thing, I do actually think he’s a quality player but he is 30 next year which is very old for a Wenger signing. Also, I think in RVP we have someone who is going to be one of the top strikers in the world in a few years and I would rather we persisted with him in the first team than bring someone else in.
His stats are amazing though. Last year he had 25 goals and 16 assists in just 26 games in the league. You could argue about adapting to the English game but the German league is closer to our own than most. He’s also very good in the air, which would make a nice change!
Of course in a season like the one we’ve had it would have been great to have Klose to come into the first team I can’t imagine Wenger spending the kind of money we’d have to pay for him for a guy who might not be an automatic starter.
so I guess I’m kinda agreeing with you both, yes I think he’s good enough but I don’t think we should sign him.

  • 178. J Marsh  |  March 28th, 2007 at 6:06 am

How cool is this extract from Wikipedia by the way??

“Klose has a reputation of being a particularly fair player: He has received a fair play trophy from the German sports journalists’ association for his behaviour on the field. During the 2004/2005 season, in a match between Werder Bremen and Arminia Bielefeld, with the score still 0-0, the referee had already given a penalty for Bremen following an alleged foul by the Bielefeld goalie on Klose. The referee then changed his decision after Klose told him that the goalkeeper’s tackle was not a foul.”

  • 179. No al Calcio Moderno  |  March 28th, 2007 at 6:46 am

Given Klose’s age you could pick him up probably for around 5-8 million. Wenger is seemingly going to pay 15 million euros for Baptista who would be 4th choice so money wouldn’t put him of Klose. I do agree with his age putting Arsene off but remember when we signed the God Davor Suker. I loved that guy. If we hadda got him a few years earlier he would have been one of the top premiership strikers of all time.

  • 180. adam  |  March 28th, 2007 at 7:21 am

Suker…are you serious? Oleg Lhuzny was a better striker than him

  • 181. J Marsh  |  March 28th, 2007 at 7:27 am

I don’t actually think for a moment Wenger will spend that kind of money on Baptista though (And have my doubts as to whether we’ll want him at all), and I think Bendtner will be our 4th striker.
I do agree about Suker. I was hoping we’d sign him years before we did. In fact I adored him from the moment he made Schmeichal look like a fool in Eoro 96!
If we could get Klose for that kind of money then I’d be happy, but I hear other big clubs are sniffing around as well and that’s sure to drive the price up.

  • 182. Good to be a GOONAH!!  |  March 28th, 2007 at 7:30 am

I cannot believe that ron - flounder of all American knowledge (gleaned from the USA Today) spent the whole of yesterday having his ass kicked by all and sundry on this blog.

Im impressed by your durability. Well done.

Anyway, going forward… please note that the blog village idiot position is already perfectly filled by Blog Head… who for all his sp*rs supporting idiocy at least offers a sense of humour (such as it is) and a modicum of intelligence.

So if you can offer something interesting about the Arsenal… please do feel free to contribute, but leave your dim American scattergun style abuse behind.

    ta

  • 183. J Marsh  |  March 28th, 2007 at 7:59 am

I actually enjoy Blog Heads posts……I’m not really sure why. I think he makes more sense than Ron etc and he doesn’t wind me up anymore cos I know he’s a Spurs fan, therefor he’s got serious issues that I don’t. His misfortune also entitles him to blow off steam by inviting us to sniff his groin (traditional greeting amongst Spurs fans to each other) and generally call for Arsenal to resign Paul Dickov and Eddie McGoldrick.
He’s this boards mascot in my opinion and it’s a better place for having him on here.

  • 184. Good to be a GOONAH!!  |  March 28th, 2007 at 8:01 am

J Marsh… I absolutely agree… he IS our mascot and I should further admit that I have at times found his comments rather insightful… sometimes

  • 185. ron - the real one  |  March 28th, 2007 at 8:28 am

any of you should know that i dont post after work hrs cos i do actually have a life. the ron after post 118 was not me.

RH, how do i attend matches from ireland??

most ppl that can read know that until last week i was working in london, on the 02 dome actualy. i paid £100 a ticket to go to home games. only went to 6, cos of the price. i went to the west ham game at upton park, £70!! had to sit on the bobby moore stand, but at least i experienced passionate fans, perhaps cos its on the poorer side of down. you know, not pretentious with there head up their own arse.

making fun of me by talking about the riverdance, racist??

i am not LMFO, or any other of them, im not even bloghead.
GS should confirm this, i feel he has a duty too when i am being labelled a racist etc.

and i feel RH owes me an apology for linking me to him, basically calling me a racist, knowing how everyone hear thinks what he tells them.

most of my comments are silly wind-ups, that humour me when in work.

i am indeed an arsenal fan.

  • 186. tubes  |  March 28th, 2007 at 8:31 am

is anyone feeling confident about saturday? i just think we’re asking a bit much to beat the mickey mousers 4 times in one season, i would accept a draw this time.
its hard to be sarcastic in text format as it often gets taken up the wrong way, i thought ron was joking when he was winding rural up.

  • 187. ron - the real one  |  March 28th, 2007 at 8:40 am

thanks tubes, i was joking, like i was joking when winding u up & everyone for that matter.

but RH obviously couldnt take it, so is trying to use his influence over ppl by taking the whole thing too far.

calling me a racist etc is crossing the line. like i said y’day he blows everything up & makes a drama out of things.

most ppl agree with the posts that are positive about arsenal, which i think is silly, giving the state we are in. so i slag them off to wind ppl off & get a reaction.

ppl with a brain should know this, i thought it was obvious. guess its not to a paranoid wreck. i must be racist, sexist etc

  • 188. Blog Head  |  March 28th, 2007 at 8:53 am

Course he was joking. He’s just silly. I know cos thats what I do when I first find a site. Its easy to say ridiculous things to people when they are just words on a screen but after a while you get to know there characters and your concience kicks in. The problem with these sites is that anyone can post as anyone so you never really know who’s sayng all the racist bollocks, but anyone who says that kind of stuff comes unstuck because there obviously so thick that they could never have a normal conversation if they tried..

Now watch these come comments rolling in “I fucking told you, Ron is Blog Head !!!!!!! ”

I swear on Berbatov joining Arsenal for 1 MIllion in the summer that I only post as myself, and Paul Dickov.

  • 189. Ruralgoon  |  March 28th, 2007 at 9:02 am

Mornin’ all! firstly; Miroslav klose. Buy him if cheap enough. German clinical finishing and the ability to head a ball means that he would be a valuable aquisition if the initial price was reasonable. Not prone either to massive bouts of overinflated ego unlike some others I could mention!

Jamie; thanks for the belated support against Ron !!

And finally, disturbing as it is, I do miss bloggie when he’s not around, He’s def. the site mascot… though I fear I may require some sort of therapy to help me with this :-)

  • 190. J Marsh  |  March 28th, 2007 at 9:05 am

    Berbatov for a million…Sweet!!
Ron-although you do wind me up (Despite my trying to not let you) I don’t think there’s anything malicious (Ignorance maybe…but not malicious!) in your comments. I wasn’t involved in the bulk of your ongoing spat yesterday but I think both sides ended up getting wound up and maybe posting some stuff that was a bit personal and not really based on what had been said previously. I do agree that a lot of your posts are just designed to annoy people and provoke a reaction, the problem is we keep falling into the trap you set!
Anytime you get this many people expressing opinions you’re gonna have some who disagree with each other, I don’t think it’s a bad thing to have differences of opinions…as long as everyone realises mine are right and those that disagree with them are idiots…..oops, spoilt the nice sentiment of my post then didn’t I?

  • 191. Blog Head  |  March 28th, 2007 at 9:13 am

Rural, Dont worry, you love me and its ok. Your not not the first and you sure as hell wont be the last.

And while were on this little mutual appreciation vibe, can i say that when it comes to football you do know your shit. Its nice talking to people like James Marsh, Recpects & your goodself when i’ve a moment to kill at work.

Ron, you should give respects a break man, I’m sure he”ll be the first to admit that he’s very opinionated but thats cool, at least he has an opinion and has the balls to stick to it, and backs it up in great detail. People like that are ten times more interesting then those people who just spout bollocks that they’ve heard on talksport. Without people like him, there wouldnt even be a site.

  • 192. Ruralgoon  |  March 28th, 2007 at 9:14 am

To the real Ron; You did rile me a wee bit with the farmer girl bit, but not as much as the housework comments!! as long as you were’nt serious I wont get hormonal on you!!

  • 193. Little Dutch  |  March 28th, 2007 at 9:14 am

You think that was a a barney? Check this link out:

    http://www.arsenal.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=58547

The character, Sir Harry, threatened to get me sacked from my day job, tried to get me sacked from vital and started warning me about telling people where I live! All becuase I called Rooney a thug and didn’t include David Bentley in my team of the season, he claimed I was racist against the English. P.S I value blog head’s contribution, his ball sucking technique is also second to none. Contrary to popular opinions and what the tabloids would have you believe, his groin omits a rosy scent that puts one in mind of morning dew in the spring.

  • 194. Anil Nair  |  March 28th, 2007 at 9:21 am

    Respects Highbury,

Do you call your DAD a dick head too ? Fucking arrogant moron you idiot. And you have the balls to come and say that was INTENTIONAL.

  • 195. Good to be a GOONAH!!  |  March 28th, 2007 at 9:23 am

Anil Nair… dont be an idiot… lets try to restrain the abuse on this blog…

as soon as you post something like that you let yourself down and lose all credibility.

offer something about the Arsenal or simply piss off

  • 196. ron - the real one  |  March 28th, 2007 at 9:30 am

oh and RH i didn know that they used to be called that.

but i did know they used to be called woolwich arsenal & they had to loan their first kit of C Palace, i think.

when i was living in london, i went to woolwich & i noticed that there was old large military bldgs there. i assume that this is were the ‘gunners’ came from? and the canon on our crest??

  • 197. J Marsh  |  March 28th, 2007 at 9:48 am

We got our first kit off Nottingham Forest Ron, hence the red on our shirts. Two of the guys who formed Arsenal used to play for Forest.
LD-Bloody hell! You’re right, I read most of it and then had to stop before I got too angry! Guys, follow the link that LD posted. It really is a warning as to how shit a board can get when it just becomes constant abuse. Lets just try and keep it realted to footy today please? The personal stuff is just boring and makes it harder for me to spend my entire day while I’m meant to be working on here. PLEASE dont make me resort to working to pass the time guys!!!

  • 198. Blog Head  |  March 28th, 2007 at 9:53 am

I cant find it on the site

  • 199. ron  |  March 28th, 2007 at 9:55 am

if RH says sorry for calling me a racist, then i’ll promise to stop acting the eejit & will try to make only sensible contributions to the site.

  • 200. J Marsh  |  March 28th, 2007 at 10:01 am

Bloggie-Follow the link LD posted then go down to the ‘what do you think’ section and then scroll down in the section itself rather than the main screen. It gets pretty spicy.

  • 201. Good to be a GOONAH!!  |  March 28th, 2007 at 10:02 am

ron… none of us are really bothered… offer something about the club or piss off

  • 202. Good to be a GOONAH!!  |  March 28th, 2007 at 10:33 am

Im getting nervous about this increasing chatter that we’re signing b-Ribery… please deny this ARSENE!!!!

  • 203. J Marsh  |  March 28th, 2007 at 10:36 am

Sorry Goonah, I haven’t been indulging in too much of the ‘chatter’ but I have to say I think Ribery would do alright for us. I know he doesn’t get all that many goals and what most people seem to agree we need is goals from midfield but to me he looks like a Wenger style player. He looks more direct than Hleb as well, as fond as I am of him.

  • 204. Good to be a GOONAH!!  |  March 28th, 2007 at 10:50 am

is he a Wenger style player because of his nationality and friendship with Henry?

  • 205. Anil Nair  |  March 28th, 2007 at 10:53 am

    Good to be goonah,

and then why didnt you tell that to RH when he abuses ? i had restrained myself for so long even going to the extent of not writing any comments at all… Dont be selective in your sense of justice. Calling someone dick head is abuse in my book, and i reserve my right to respond to such shit. I know now lotsa aliases of RH is going to jump in to protect their master.

  • 206. J Marsh  |  March 28th, 2007 at 10:54 am

lol. Nah, I meant his age, the fact he looks pretty skilfull and fast, with plenty of promise but not quite at the top level yet. ‘Potential’ is probably one of the key things I’d say in terms of being a Wenger signing.

  • 207. Ruralgoon  |  March 28th, 2007 at 10:54 am

Good Grief LD! What a bunch of complete w######s! It makes the spats that occur on here occasionally look like rational debate… and thats saying something!

Still not convinced either way about Ribery; have only really seen him play for the french national side… and if they suffer similar problems to the England team [i.e. form for club not reproduced for country] then perhaps its unfair of me to judge him. The big question is whether the substantial price tag is an accurate reflection of ability, and if we pay out for him, will it stop the “get your chequebook out and buy us some big name players” brigade from whingeing?

  • 208. Good to be a GOONAH!!  |  March 28th, 2007 at 11:11 am

    isnt Ribery 23 or 24?

Anil Nair… I honestly think that we could all do without the petty name calling and assorted histrionics.

ok… you’re upset to be called a dickhead… fine. I would suggest that the best way to have people stop calling you a dickhead is to… wait for it… stop being one.

  • 209. Good to be a GOONAH!!  |  March 28th, 2007 at 11:15 am

    Ribery is 24 next week

  • 210. J Marsh  |  March 28th, 2007 at 11:25 am

I think 24 a pretty good age to sign someone though, 4 or 5 years before they reach their full potential but old enough to have valuable experience of playing week in and week out, as well as having played at the top level. We need more players about this age rather than having to throw in 17/18 years olds when we get stretched.

  • 211. arse nail  |  April 4th, 2007 at 12:07 pm

I have seen alot of ribery and in my opinion is a slightly older and incredibly unnatractive version of messi. Bt e is extremely decisive, tries to make things happen, willing to run at defenders, good dribbler of the ball, makes those runs that made freddie such an asset, and his work rate alone will make u love him. However i do see him fluff alot of chances, and sometimes e has patches where e looks unable to take on players, bt at 24, if we can get him without paying silly money, then wenger will make him a real world class act

  • 212. Colin  |  January 29th, 2008 at 1:41 am

Adebayor is supposed to work for free and continue to work after he has not been paid, because he makes a lot of money in europe. Rubbish!!! As much of an honor as it may be to play for your country, you risk your livelihood for them if you are badly injured.

African nations not paying their players is why more and more Africans choose to play for their adopted countries. France, Holland, Switzerland, England, pay their players.
