Could YOU be Arsenal’s new central midfielder?…
0 guns July 24th, 2005
Apparently, Alexander Hleb told Arsenal Magazine: “Before I got into football, I used to be into high-board diving.”
“But my dad was always saying to me, ‘Forget about this diving stuff, you should be playing football’.”
Thankyou Hleb senior. We owe you.
It would seem, however, that old habits die hard:

Meanwhile, rumours of Sol Campbell’s availability continue to gather pace. If, as speculated, Toure and Senderos are cemented as our first choice pairing, I could understand Sol wanting to move on. It would be a real shame though - surely what we’ve been crying out for is genuine competition between three excellent central defenders?
Whilst a few sources are reporting that we’ve agreed a fee for Julio Baptista, the player himself seems intent on remaining in Spain, leaving that gap in our midfield as wide as ever.
In their desperation, it would seem Arsenal.com are offering Patrick Vieira’s slot up for grabs in some sort of auction:

Here’s hoping Michael Essien comes in with the highest bid.

Not Highest bid you moron, LOWEST bid . It’s a reverse auction. the lowest individual bid wins.

If they were auctioning Pascal’s place then I could understand it

Essien seems a very unlikely buy… Chelsea are still interested and willing to pay big bucks

Supposedly, the Beastie Boy can play the mid-field as well as up front, more versatile than Owen.

i don’t know if i want us to sign Baptista, not not he wouldn’t be amazing for us it’s just that he says we are third choice behind Barcalona and real madrid so if we did end up getting him his heart might not be with us, SHAME THOUGH

If Baptista did sign, we might have something in common with Chelsea, two strikers who don’t want to play for either team.
