Olympiacos 2 -1 Arsenal: Nothing to see here

Match Report | Highlights | Arsene’s reaction

I really don’t have anything very interesting to say about this game…
I watched it, and it was relatively entertaining.  But I couldn’t take it seriously.  Arsene patently wasn’t too bothered himself, and so it was very hard to get emotionally involved in it.  I enjoyed elements of our performance and the goal we scored – this was certainly a better display, even with a weakened XI, than we saw against Swansea or Villa – but it never felt truly competitive.  It’s a shame not to win the group, but there are dangers on either side of the draw.

Tomas Rosicky was probably our best player…
…so it speaks volumes about how much of a priority the match was for Arsene that he took Rosicky off at half-time.  Perhaps he’s considering throwing the Czech in for the game at West Brom – he adds some much-needed tempo to our game.  I’d consider including him as part of the trio behind Olivier Giroud.

Jernade Meade was impressive again…
I liked the little left-back’s cameo at Reading, and he did extremely well on Tuesday considering he was making his first start in senior football away from home in the Champions League.  I’m told he’s a full three inches shorter than Santi Cazorla, which is frankly ridiculous, but he stood tall on the night with an energetic and confident display.  He was helped by the performance of Thomas Vermaelen  alongside him, who has shown a significant improvement since returning to centre-back.

We’ll be seeing a lot of these players again within a week…
I’m sure many of these guys will be in action again in the League Cup tie with Bradford City.  They can’t afford to lose then – that looks by far our most realistic hope of a trophy this season.

  1. CL

    Q. for everyone
Will Aaron Ramsey ever be good enough to play for a CL club?

    • Munitionsman

Yes, he is ready for Celtic now

  2. CL

Personally i dont think he’s getting any better now than he was the season he got injured and that must be worrying for him and Wenger.
I’ve seen Charlie Nicholas taking about him saying he’s not good enough for Arsenal, along with others, but he’s been here quite a few years and is young so should be getting better and isn’t. He cant tackle so he has to play in an attacking role, he cant play wide so the one role for him is furthest forward midfielder and he’s no composure as he’s shown many times and did again last night. Cant finish, and basically just isn’t not up to it so why stick with something that isn’t working?
Good to see Merson coming out aswell saying we need to miss the CL this year so that we learn from it and then realise and start spending and buying better quality players, and he’s bang on, well said. Need to go back to go forward and we do but with a good old clearout, if teams wont take them cos of the wages then pay part of wages just to get rid, it will save money in the long run and free up cash for others.

Under Wenger, our club has become a fake….

Take his post match press conferences:
    “We showed Spiwit”
    “We lacked urgency”
“the final third….the final third….the final third”
    “We had good commitment”
    “we showed physical intensity”

How much of this crap must we listen to?

And if you’re still not convinced just look at the falling attendances. Even those figures are manipulated. One of the reporters reckoned there were 10,000 empty seats in our last game…yet attendance figures showed over 60,000!

Wenger, Gazidis and his cronies are full of shit and lies. It wouldn’t surprise me if they hired CockHunter and TrueCunt to troll the forums and tell everyone how wonderful Wenger and Gazidis are.

The problem is Wenger is trying to play the Spanish ie Barca way in the epl.He has forgotten or chose not to know the epl is the most physical of all the euro leagues. He expects other teams to let Arsenal play their passing game without hindrance. In short ,he is trying to be too clever.
Take for instance the passing game in the final third. He wants to thread a ball through a congested goal mouth and when the ball breaks loose, the gunners will be agoal down, mark my words.
Instead of passing upfield,he has chosen the lateral passing which gives time for defences to regroup and stifle the gunners through sheer numbers like what Swansea did.
I expect Albion to play like Swansea and hit on the break. Don’t be surprised the gunners lose again, even with the seniors having a week’s rest.

Yep agreed , wenger thinks he is way too clever and if that shit works it looks genius , Walcott could well have turned out to be another overmars on the wing as he has that direct speed and they both have the same knack of spotting the open runs only problem with that shit is one was always a winger and made his runs from the wing with devasting effect and the other is an over the top speed merchant who made is runs …wait for it …deep in the final third lol…………………………..lol and poor Theo can’t seem to make that adjustment but wenger is so stubborn he keeps playing him there and you know what I actually think Theo will make a devastating centre forward when he is sold to a team with a proper manager who does not think he is to clever and that the obvious is nowhere near good enough for his perceived genius .So move on Theo to a team that will play you where you are strongest and actually start progressing instead of banging your head against the wall for le fool.
Wenger “I want to play le football I love” so do we mate only problem is you don’t have a messi ,xavi or inesta at your club instead you have second rate rubbish and you also pay no mind to defending which at this level is absolutely criminal .Look at Barca when they lose the ball , they are like a pack of wild hunting dogs trying to get their prey and are relentless ….look at our lot , like a bunch of retriever pups playing with an andrex bog roll and they can’t even catch that , then they saunter off to wenger with big smiles and tail wagging (Ramsey) and get a pat on the back from wenger for their failure . I am not even gonna start on his tactics or lack of .They have the cheek to ask the fans to support their piss poor effort when they can’t even be bothered to try , run or track back and are being paid in excess of 50,000 a week and we get these stupid dum fans saying no no your wrong support your team when they are blatantly taking the piss …it is like saying let me spit in your face but don’t argue , don’t say anything just come back and let me spit in your face again . I am afraid that is how some supporters at least the passionate ones feel when you have a player like rosicky although talented but incredibly lazy and injury prone who has only played twenty games in his arsenal career and thinks he can come and tells us to support him when that mofo turns his back on shit can’t be bothered to tackle as the last man …. Nope that shit is incredibly annoying…The point is don’t talk shit stay out of the media , don’t feed the fans bollocks like we are stupid cunts and put in some hard craft in that the fans can see and you won’t get booed mate it is that simple

Wanadoo, attendance figures are not manipulated as the figures shown represent tickets sold for that game. It would seem the tickets are usually sold out and if holders fail to pass on tickets they already have, the club has no choice but to state the figures already recorded as attendance; after all, the monies have been paid.
