The new stadium’s design resembles an auditorium, not a football stadium.
Looking at the ‘artists impressions’ the crowd are approximately 18 yards from the by-line. And it’s worse behind the goal.
Even the dirty mancs with the dirty fans get to sit on top of the pitch …
I just hope that as a result, we don’t get the lame, tame atmosphere found in so many of the ‘new’ football stadiums being built around the world.

If the brief was to create a good atmosphere, they should have looked at what made Highbury unique. And that certainly doesn’t mean sitting the fans right away from the pitch.

For me, supporting the gooners has been so special cause we have such a close relationship with the boys on the turf. From banter with Leamo to Terry cussing the away fans.

I think it is a great move that will be excellent in years to come they have taken the oppurtunity to sponcer us for a long period, only risk is that sponcership value might go up in this time.
I dont like the new name, but so what. The fans will come up with a name by themselves.
The money is good and with no billionaire chairmen, its a good source of income.
I can’t think of many premiership clubs, who are in our position in terms of current and future finance. Only late last season people were slating us for being in so much debt!
Lets not forget the Higbury conversion will also generate a lot of money for us and also the new affordable homes we are building will generate some money for us(not a lot though as it will probably be handled by a trust).

I’ll admit, i didn’t like the gay name of it at first either, especially as it is linked to Chavski, but when i heard we’re getting £100m for it, coulnd’t help but think, well done the board! Don’t know what artist’s impressions you’re looking at Reyes but the ones I’ve seen on the club site seem to show us being just about as close as at Highbury. The new stadium looks tremendous. I don’t give a toss about the new name, cos I’m sure we’ll all decide what we want to call it (Highbury, AG, or whatever) and the money won’t half come in handy. Wake up, its still “the Arsenal” and the future of the club is looking good. I’m more concerned to ensure we keep having teams I can be proud of and enjoy watching (cos I’ll be watching them anyway) and I think all this stuff that’s going on just now can only make that more likely, but not certain.
Get a grip for God sake. I think the moaners would not be happy with whatever name it was given, so what’s the difference? We all have our own preferences and if we all voiced them then we would still be arguing with eachother. What’s wrong with Emirates anyway? I think it is quite a classy name, once you get used to it. Arsenal have never been a stinking rich club, our money comes from a medium sized support and what happens on the pitch. We cannot afford to spurn £100m, especially when the stadium was so expensive. Also, it is not a good idea to criticise the stadum from a lousy picture. I went past it on a BR Train and it was awe-inspiring. And it’s only 1/4 built.
As for the crowd being away from the pitch, I’m sure there is a reason for this, such as being able to expand the width of the pitvh as and when we please. Do you really think the board and Wenger have not considered all these things? Or perhaps you know better than them?
Some of you are so damn ungrateful. Thanks to the board, who had the foresight to bring in Wenger in the first place, we now have a superb new stadium, not that ugly little one called Highbury which is too small and looks like a public lavatory from the inside.
If you want the stadium to sound good then sing up. Highbury was small and close to the pitch, but it still has an unfortunate nickname thanks to the fans that sit on their fat arses waiting to be entertained.
Enough with the name already… If manure got relegated and stayed there for 5 seasons, you can picture some guys sucking on some beers and saying “Well, at least OUR stadium is called Oooold Trafford”.
So what if it’s Emirates? It’s a great time to be a Gooner. Don’t spoil it by being a moaner. Now what are you going to do at the new stadium – sit and moan and help it along to be the Ashburton Graveyard???
Whe it comes down to it, it’s a stadium. As long as the toilets aren’t clogged and the doors work, what does it really matter? You’ll go anyway. It’s for the rich people.
